70gr butter
275 gr flour
6 tbs cacao powder
3 tsp baking powder
85 gr sugar
100gr milk chocolate, chopped
55gr small marshmallows (in different colors if preferred)
1 big egg (beaten)
3dl milk
encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com
If you are are interested you can find out how on that website I found: http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html Here you can lear to talk like a pirate in several languages.

Since pirates eat a lot of cupcakes I made a small collection of pirate cupcakes which are not made by me but I though you might get some cool ideas from them. This could also be a great theme for a birthday party.
I hope you enjoy guys...
Shape into two round prolongs and let them cool for awhile. Roll out the marzipan and sprinkle the powdered sugar on it. Roll up the prolongs into marzipan and cut the roll into app 3cm wide pieces. What you need for app.20 cookies
80g melted butter
1.5 dl flour
1.2 dl powdered sugar
3 egg whites
1 tbs Maizena
1 tea spoon vanilla sugar
http://www.asian-central.com/stuffasianpeoplelike/wp-content/uploads/HLIC/da80a97a2c15684485ed3edd68836620.jpg
First, write 20 notes with size not bigger than 8cm. Set the oven to 175 C and take a baking tray.
Next, melt the butter and let it cool for awhile. Mix the flour, powdered sugar and egg whites all together. Add the maizena, vanilla sugar and butter.
Using a spoon make circles with 7-8cm diameter on the baking tray. Bake only one or two cookies at a time. Bake them for 4-5 minutes or until they get golden brown and are easy to move with a spatula .
You need to be fast so the cookies will not get stiff. Move them from the baking tray using a baking spatula and in the same time flip them on to a towel. Place the note in the middle and close the cookie. Then fold the cookie again and pull the edges in order to get the fortune cookie shape. Do the same with the rest.
Leave the cookies cool in an egg carton. Store them for 3-4 days in a jar before use.

I tried one recipe and I think it is worth sharing it with you. It is easy and actually very fun to prepare. What you will need:

2 egg whites
115 gr sugar
and a forcing bag. (middle sized star works perfectly!)

http://cdn.taste.com.au/images/recipes/agt/2002/07/12590.jpg

http://www.bakersroyale.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Merigue-Kiss-Cookies_-Bakers-Royale.jpg
Lets start!

Mix the egg whites together with the sugar until it becomes a thick fluffy mixture. Move it to the forcing bag and apply in any shapes you want on a baking tray (works perfectly with baking paper ) While applying make sure you leave some space between them (1cm or so). If you want to make them more colorful you can add some food coloring into the mixture. ( or divide it in two and make 2 colors! )
Set your oven on 110C and leave them in for one hour!

http://www.bakingdom.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Pipe.jpg

tip 1: you can use your imagination and apply some sprinkles just like we do it on cupcakes!)
tip 2: if you like them a little soft in the middle let them be in the oven for 45 minutes instead of 1 hour

Enjoy!

Mother's Day Cupcake Decoration and Facts

It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March, April, or May.

The modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in America. She then began a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday in the United States. Although she was successful in 1914, she was already disappointed with its commercialization by the 1920s. Jarvis' holiday was adopted by other countries and it is now celebrated all over the world.

In 1912, Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrases "second Sunday in May" and "Mother's Day", and created the Mother's Day International Association.

She was specific about the location of the apostrophe; it was to be a singular possessive, for each family to honour their mother, not a plural possessive commemorating all mothers in the world.

Fluffy Vanilla Cupcakes

(10-12cupcakes)
That is a perfect mixture I use every time I make vanilla cupcakes. The outcome is always perfect and sometimes better than expected. Try it out with different fillings and share your opinion!

What you need :
4dl flour
3dl sugar
2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (bakpulver)
1/2 teaspoon salt
100g butter (room temperature)
2dl milk
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar

Set your oven on 175°C. Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and butter (melted) in a bowl.

In another bowl mix the eggs ,milk and vanilla sugar. Add the egg mixture into the butter mixture and stir well. Divide the mixture into your cupcake papers. Bake for 20-25 minutes. (till they are golden)

Vanilla Frosting:

What you need:

2 dl soured cream/ creme fraiche

2teaspoons vanilla sugar

1/2 dl powdered sugar

Whip all the ingredients well. You can use forcing bag or simply apply with a spoon.

Tip1 : If you do not have soured cream you can use joghurt with no taste ( make sure it is dry)

Tip2: You can decorate with some sprinkles or fruit you have at home. Last time I made them I used strawberry sprinkles and half a strawberry on each cupcake top.

Origins of Easter

It might come as a surprise to you that Easter actually has pagan origins. The word Easter is derived from the name of an ancient goddess named Eastre. Each year the pagans celebrated Eastre at the spring equinox. Eastre’s earthly symbol was the rabbit which symbolized fertility. The pagans celebrated with a lot of other rituals that were, to today’s standards, evil. Easter has since become incredibly commercialized and the eggs and chocolate rabbits are the only tradition that remains of the original pagan celebration.

For a large portion of the world, Easter also represents a Christian holiday. Easter marks the day in which Jesus rose from the grave three days after his crucifixion. This is the most important holiday in the Christian church because it represents the core events in which the religion is based. Due to the commercialization of Easter, many churches and church groups have adopted the phrase Resurrection Sunday instead of Easter.

I made those pretty cupcakes today. The decoration may look very complicated but actually it is a piece of cake!

What you will need is some food coloring - I used only two main colors, red and blue(and mixed them for purple). The frosting can be whipped cream or any other dense mixture which is preferably white or yellow. The one I used was with butter, whipped cream and powdered sugar. I divided it into 4 cups. In the first one I've put some red food coloring, second- blue, third 3drops red + 1 drop blue (to make purple) and the last cup I left pure ( so I have white color) To do the trick with 2colored icing it is important that you have either piping bag or frosting decoration press.

When you have mixed all the frosting with the food coloring you pick two (or more) colors and start filling the bag/press one color at a time. When you apply it try to spread it only in one half of the bag. When you put the second colored frosting fill the gap that you left so it is equally divided in the bag. To finish the look add some sprinkles or any decoration you have!

Put a few spoons of sugar in the bag, then add 1 (or 2 drops) of food coloring in the bag. Hold it tight and shake a few times. And there you have your own fancy colored sugar. It is easy and it looks great!

This is a review of Kungsörnen's cupcakes. They have 2 types- Chocolate cupcakes and Strawberry surprise. Today I will be making Strawberry Surprise. Here are some interesting facts about these pink cakes :
Energy 1950 kJ
Energy kcal 460
Protein G 3.5
Carbohydrate g 76
Fat g 16

It takes about 30 minutes to make them and it is quite simple procedure.
In the box you have 10 cupcake papers, 2 bags (marked with 1 and 2) and a small bag with decoration.
The instructions are very simple:
First set your oven on 175C. Put the mixture from bag one into a bowl and add 1dl water. Mix well and fill the cupcake papers. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Next, take bag 2 and put the powder in a bowl. Add 2 teaspoons water and 50 gr melted butter. After mixing it well put it in a forcing bag. The cupcakes are ready to decorate after they have cooled for at least 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray three 8″ round cake pans with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
2. Blend the cake mix, water, oil, eggs and sour cream in a large bowl until all ingredients are moistened. Using a had mixer, beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
3. Pour 1/3 of the strawberry cake batter into one of the cake pans.
4. Add a 7-9 drops of food coloring to the remaining batter. Mix thoroughly. Pour half of that batter the second cake pan.
5. To the of the batter add 5-7 more drops of red food coloring. Mix thoroughly. Pour this batter into the last empty cake pan.
6. You should have three pans, with even amount of cake batter, in three shades: pink, red, and dark red. You can add as much or as little food coloring as you’d like to customize your shades of pink & red.
7. Bake cakes for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Remove from oven and let the cakes cool completely.
8. Using a round biscuit cutter, or any other object the same diameter as your mason jars, cut 9 circles out of each cake. You will have 27 circles total- 9 in each shade. Set these aside while you make the frosting.

As you might know St. Valentine's day is coming soon. If you want to win somebody's heart I have one solution for you-give them cupcakes! Of course not any cupcake can do the magic, which is why I am share with you one tested love recipe for cupcakes. For me it works every single time I make it!
http://data.whicdn.com/images/31247371/Pink-Cupcakes-with-Hearts-On-Top_large.jpg

Here is what you need for 5 cupcakes (big size papers):
55 gr melted butter
1 1/2 dl (cups) flour
1 dl sugar (white, regular)
1 big egg ( 2 small eggs work perfectly too)
1 tsp cocoa
2 teaspoons O'boy (if you don't have you can skip it or put 2 teaspoons cappuccino powder)
1 teaspoon milk
chocolate with special flavor ( just a few pieces )
(For the chocolate pieces I used chocolate I found in the local store. The brand is Marabou-Sensation "Cookies Cream" and the flavor is just amazing)

Let's start!

First, set your oven on 180°C and prepare 5 big sized cupcake papers. ( If you have middle or small works too but you might need more than 5 in that case) .
Mix all the dry ingredients in a big bowl. Add the egg(s), butter, milk and mix very well. Fill up about 1/2 of your cupcake papers with the mixture. Now break the chocolate in small pieces and put approximately 1 block in each cake. Cover the chocolate with the rest of the mixture. You can also use small pieces of the chocolate to put on top as I did. Don't worry if they look very full(there is no raising agent in the ingredients which is why we fill them up).

Bake the cakes for 20 minutes. When the time is up take them up and leave them to rest for 2-3 minutes before you serve. ( My boyfriend didn't wait for so long and I promise they smell delicious) Serve them hot!

Enjoy!
