How to Share a Printer Within Workgroup

Hi All,

Today, we would like to bring you a tutorial on how you can configure your printer to be share among other machine as you had it on your company. It obviously convenience to you and to the other rest of your family.

Printer sharing is one the the features from Windows Workgroup that we post previously. The benefit for it printer sharing, will allow you to print any document from any computer within your Windows Workgroup without having you to get up from the seat. Just follow the following steps:

Prerequisite

All machine must be configured and assigned under same Windows Workgroup
Printer Connected to one of Computer / Laptop
Windows 7 Home Basic and Above

Steps

First, you'll need to connect your printer to one of the available computer / laptop within your Windows Workgroup. For those of you who did not configure your Windows Workgroup yet, you can do so by clicking here.
After you have done the first step, you need to set your printer for sharing function. Kindly follow sub step below:

Click "Start" > Select "Devices and Printers" - Printer Control Panel Screen will appear.

From here, you'll notice your printer is listed but it is not shared yet. Now, right click on your printer and select for "Printer Properties" and you'll see a printer properties pop up.
On the "Printer Properties" screen, kindly move your mouse to "Sharing" tab and check on "Share This Printer" and "Render print jobs on client computers" and click "OK". You'll notice you printer State has become shared.

Congratulation for completing the printer sharing configuration above, but it is not done yet. To make your printer visible and available to any other computer or laptop within your Windows Workgroup, you must add it individually. Please follow step below:

Please run these step on different computer / laptop
Begin with "Start" & Open "Devices and Printer"; Click on "Add Printer" button at the top of control panel windows screen.
There will be 2 option for you to choose from, Please select "Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth Printer"

Wait for your computer to search for any shared printer within your Windows Workgroup. Once the printer listed, kindly select your shared printer which you have configured previously.

Just follow the step by step instruction on your screen, if you not so sure about what the instruction want, just click on "Next" until "Finish". Once done, you'll notice a printer will be added into your computer. Repeat this procedure on each machine at your home.
From here, you can just use the printer as normal printer.

Please take note, in order for you to use the shared printer, it must be connected to the original machine and both machine and printer must be turned on.

Actually, Windows 7 offered a lot more easier for you to share a printer via Homegroup; but unfortunately Homegroup is not compatible with Windows XP. Therefore, we teach you this step as complete guide to make it compatible with other Windows ME/XP and 7.

Howdy day? we have some good news to all Samsung Galaxy S user about Android 4.0 or clearly known as Ice Cream Sandwich. So far we never heard from Samsung regarding Official Ice Cream Sandwich for Samsung Galaxy S user around the globe. Like always, our free developer will try to overcome that unwanted feeling and get Ice Cream Sandwich up and running for Galaxy S users.

I'm not here to tell you how can you push the Ice Cream Sandwich to your device, but just to let you know and share you Ice Cream Sandwich supported Galaxy S GT-i9000. Although, it still in BETA and it may know working 100% on certain part of hardware but it proved to run decent on this model. Please check our below for video review.

How to create Windows Workgroup on Windows 7

Today we'll show you how you can create a windows workgroup within your home network or small office network. There is a lot of benefit connecting each PC or Laptop on the same Windows workgroup for example printer sharing, file and media sharing, administrative access and remote access.

Did you home use wireless or wired connection to connect more than one device (Laptop, Desktop, Mobile Phone, Printer and others)? Did you figure how can you ease your work by sharing all media, printer and file without having it transfer to your thumb drive? We have a question for you. What you need to do is connect or your machine to windows workgroup. Just follow these steps:

Prerequisite

Laptop / Desktop running Windows 7 Home Basic and above
Each machine must be connected to same wireless or wired network.

Tutorial

Open you Computer properties screen by:

Click "Start" > Right Click on "Computer" / "My Computer" > Select Properties

Desktop Screen / Start Screen

On your Computer Properties Windows, scroll the page down and you'll see "computer names, domain and workgroup setting". Please click on "change setting" link at the right site of the section:

Computer Properties

A "System Properties" windows will appear. From here, you may need to change a few thing before you can establish workgroup connection between machine. You'll notice a number of menu bar on the top on windows screen, but we'll only use "Computer Name" bar. Please proceed by clicking on "Change" button

System Properties

From here, you'll need to change your computer name and assign Windows Workgroup name for your network.

To change name, simply key in any computer name on "Computer Name" text box. The name can be Home Computer, My Name Computer or any other name you preferred.
Lastly, assign a Windows Workgroup name for your computer and network. Simply key you preferred Windows Workgroup name on the "workgroup" text box and click "OK". On my laptop, I've assigned "UMAHNO23" as my Windows Workgroup.
A welcome message box will appear. Click "OK" and restart your machine.

Computer Name / Domain Changes

Follow the same procedures for other computer or laptop. Windows Workgroup must be same between all computer.

Today, we would like to introduce you to the latest messaging apps for Android OS. Have you all used Ping Chat before or still using it now? Well, Ping Chat has make total upgrade for it apps and no longer call Ping Chat.

In the past, Ping Chat provide a solution for messaging to fun on multiple device such as blackberry, Android and iOS to communicate thought data services. It work similarly like Blackberry Messenger. However, Ping Chat offered very poor performance service as it work heavily on high performance phone. It keep on lag during data sync with low EDGE, GPRS and High Speed Broadband (wifi).

Obviously, Android make us crazy so we would like to share you on the latest update for Android installment. Recently, we posted a video from Android Developer Youtube Channel regarding the new Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) figure landed on Google Head Office on Silicon Valley.

Today, Google is officially launched the latest update or version of Android OS called Android 4.0 or so called Ice Cream Sandwich. Plus, they also announced the latest version of Nexus Phone series which will be in the benchmark device from Android 4.0.

Still, Google are strongly working hard with Samsung Mobile just to bring a another big hit for Android Technology. Google Offer a lot of changes and additional features into Android 4.0 and Samsung the most highest Hardware Spec they could offer. We can see a lot of changes of Gmail, Youtube, UI, and more.

Will Android 4.0 change the entire the history of Android Platform? We'll see.

Head of Samsung Mobile has announced Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be launch on UK, US and Asia (Including Japan and China) with selected Telco Provider on November. Yet, we not sure either we'll get the older Galaxy Series will get the update.

Android Market Latest Update for Malaysia

Yup as stated above, finally the latest update of Android Market landed on most Malaysia Android Devices. We confirmed received this update about last week and we not so surprise about it since this update was so long a go and just now we got it. But still, it something new to us and Android devices.

Of course, this update bring a new experience in Android Market place. It is totally a new interface and black in profile. Google has made this update a lot more interactive and much more cooler look and once a again enhancing search experiences. However, one major feature is missing which is Movie Renting or Movie Purchase. Well Movie features just only available on USA market and not even EU region so we still no far behind in term of technology though. Maybe just copyright issue make Google put Movie Features as limitation for these update.

Item or Apps a lot more organize and much more good looking and much more swiping technique applied for overall interface. The rest much more the same as previous Android Market though. I thing we do impressed is, how Google portrait featured Apps on Icon or Image instead of small word or icon. We can say, it much more Windows Phone 7 alike.

Only we confirmed to receive this update is for Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000) and Samsung Galaxy S 2 (GT-i9100). So far, we not sure either this update is live to all Galaxy Series or any other Android Based phone. Recent check on HTC Desire, this update is still not live.

Android Platform is clearly at the top along with iPad and its seem Blackberry and Nokia are struggling to keep up the game. Recently, Samsung has came out with their latest and greatest of their mobile phone front line; so called Samsung Galaxy S 2 (GT-I9100).

After a success of Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) around the globe. Once again Samsung Mobile create a history with Samsung Galaxy S 2.

Let get over with the introduction and move on to the topic. Obviously, people are asking and questioning how they can take a screen capture of their Samsung Galaxys S 2? Well, we have the answer for that. Of course we don't have the phone yet on skelertor.com but we managed to get hand on experience with this device recently and unlock the secret of screen capture key combination.

As always, Samsung does not lock or disable Screen Capture capabilities for it major device such as Galaxy S (GT-i9000) and Samsung Galaxy S 2 (GT-i9100). However, to initiate screen capture on Samsung Galaxy S 2 is slightly different. It can be done as follow:

Open any application you like to capture. Press and hold Home Button + Power Button (Screen Lock), Your Galaxy S 2 screen will clicked along with camera shutter sound. Check your gallery to retrieve your captured screen.

The different between Galaxys S and Galaxy S 2 it the key combination. You can have the combination of Samsung Galaxy S via this link.

Hi all, I'm sure hardcore gamer will be happy today. Know why? this is because Gear Of War 3 is released worldwide today.

We know game it not part of IT DIY topic but since we love computer and console game, why not we post some game review just to boost our happiness.

Back to the topic. For those who does not know the Gear of War Trilogy, it's actually a third person shooting game by Microsoft Game Studio & Epic Game (Developer).The first game (Gear of War) was released back on November 2006 on the Xbox 360 and followed by the second installment of the game (Gear of War 2) back on 2008. Today, Epic Game once more put smile on gamer as the final installment of the game (Gear of War 3) is released today.

This released in the conclusion of prequel released before. As the human would fine the last hope of living among under world creatures.

Synopsis of the Game:

Gears of War takes place on the planet Sera. A radioactive liquid called Imulsion became a highly valued power source after a scientist discovered how to use it, and the economic shockwave led to several wars between nations. The Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) originally existed only as an obscure world-government philosophy, but it evolved into a legitimate, though minor, political party during the 79-year long Pendulum Wars. After "Emergence Day," when the Locust began their attack on humanity, the COG were the ones who took the necessary steps to ensure the survival of human civilization, instituting martial law and taking charge of the effort against the Locust. Fourteen years later, the COG is the only human government left on Sera.

The game primarily focuses on Marcus Fenix, the main character, and Delta Squad, consisting of Damon Baird, Augustus Cole, and Dominic "Dom" Santiago. Side characters, such as Colonel Hoffman, Anthony Carmine, and Lieutenant Kim, also aid Delta Squad. Players take control of Fenix. When in co-op two player, the second player assumes control of Santiago. All four of the squad members are available for play during multiplayer games, along with Anthony Carmine, Minh Young Kim, and Victor Hoffman, in addition to the various Locust characters.

Some of the characters received voice-overs from popular culture icons. Marcus Fénix is voiced by John DiMaggio, General RAAM and many Locust creatures are voiced by Dee Bradley Baker and Augustus "Cole Train" Cole is voiced by Lester "The Mighty Rasta" Speight

The review on the game is great, the game play surely and improved. Graphic always pushing out the Xbox360 capabilities. There not so much we can described the game unless you play it by your self. Unfortunately, This game only released on Xbox 360 Game Console. If you would like to feel this game on PC, you still can by getting Gear Of War (PC Edition). However, Gear of War 2 and Gear of War 3 is not released for PC due to piracy issue. We planning to play this game on this weekend.

Update Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) for HTC Desire : Canceled

This post will not bring a good news to all HTC Desire users. We’re expecting the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update for the HTC Desire all this time but today, HTC has announced that Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update for HTC Desire will be canceled.

Previously, HTC has promise the user that the update will be receive on all HTC Desire version. However, HTC has founded out, Original HTC Desire will not be able to run Android 2.3 + Sense UI due to limited storage on this device.

Some of HTC Desire did mention on the plan 2.3 update (Without HTC Sense UI), but HTC rejected the user idea. You can update to Android 2.3 Custom ROM instead but it is under at your own risk. I’m sorry to bring this bad news to all HTC Desire user.

HTC will still providing update for all other HTC Desire (Desire S and Desire HD) as normal.

Android 2.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000) Malaysia

Good news for all Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000) in Malaysia. After a long wait for latest update of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Samsung finally make their promise come to life. Android 2.2 (Froyo) was a big disappointment for global Samsung Galaxy S users, it was slow, keep on “Force Close” apps, not reliable and all negative idea for this high end device.

We not sure when exactly Samsung Malaysia (Asia) has released this update on Samsung Kies. However, we did discover this update as I connect my i9000 to Samsung Kies and it indicate a new update is available. Without further it do, we simply updated the phone and see the result.

The result is totally outstanding. As globally speak about the magnificent how Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) work on Samsung Nexus S and how they speak about leaked ROM Gingerbread for Galaxy S outstanding performance. There is no more lagging for Interface, no more “Force Close” on the most major and frequent apps, no more battery drain, no more lagging between changing between Network Coverage and more more more! We’ll make a full review on what exact changes Samsung and Google has provide for this device later.

Now it is OFFICIAL UPDATE for all Galaxy S (GT-i9000) user in Malaysia, you now can update your phone via Samsung Kies. Just follow these simple step:

Requirements:

USB Cable (To connect your phone to PC / Laptop)
Samsung Kies (Download Here)
Phone (Your own Phone) LOL!

Steps:

Connect your phone to your Computer / Laptop via USB Cable. Select “Samsung Kies” mode.
Run Samsung Kies (Normally Kies will run automatically after you connect your phone)
On Samsung Kies Menu, go to “Basic Information” tabs, look for “Firmware Information”, Your Kies should be able to detect latest firmware to update.
Click on “Firmware Upgrade” and leave the rest of update process to your computer.

refer image above, we have official proof. Officially taken from my phone and it running Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread). Yummy!

We not sure either this update cover other fleet of Galaxy Devices (Such as Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Mini). you can try find out yourself then k. As speak just now, we’ll make a special post on the performance report and what is the changes included in the update.

Screen Capture on ipad and iphone

Another screen capture tip and tutorial for you. Previously, we published on how you can take a screen capture for Samsung Galaxy S, and today we going to publish on how you can take screen shot of you iPad and iPhone.

We bet everyone on the world already know this step because iOS not installed on any devices2 except for iPhone and iPad, so it would be straight forward though. Just follow simple step below and you ready to go.

Follow these step:

Open any application you wish to screen capture
Hold down “home” button + “power” button. your iPad and iPhone will produce camera clicking sound and your screen will flash.
check you “Photo” apps and find you captured screen.

Simple is it? try it your self. Check out some example taken from my iPad.

How to format your computer : Windows xp

Having trouble with your Operating System? So many viruses effected? there no other unless you have to format your machine so it run fresh again. As usual, for most IT person, this step would be so easy for them.

For those of you who didn’t know on how to format your computer / laptop, skelertor.com will teach you on how you can format your computer with fresh Operating System.

In tutorial today, we going to teach on on how to format to Windows XP. Please take note, step below is the general step on how you can format on most genera machine in the market. However, on certain OEM machine or different version of Installation disc will occur some deferential in term of key and shortcut.

Please follow step below. Happy trying.

Step 1 : Prepare The Boot Sequence

Insert the windows XP cd in your CD-ROM Drive and than go to the BIOS by hitting “DEL” or “F12″ when your system in powering on. Go to Boot order and make sure CD-ROM Drive is on the first place.
Save settings and restart your computer.

Once you have successfully booted from the CD, you will see the Windows XP “Welcome to Setup” screen. Press ENTER to begin the setup process.

Step 2: Accept the license agreement

When you see the Windows XP license agreement press F8 to accept it and proceed.

Step 3: Searching for Previous Versions of Windows XP

Setup will search for existing Windows installations. You will see the next “repair or install fresh copy” screen appear only if a Windows installation currently exists on your machine. If you’re installing on a brand-new hard drive, skip to Step 5.

Step 4:Continue Installing a Fresh Copy

Press ESC. You will be given a list of partitions available on your hard drive.

Step 5: Partitions

If there are multiple partitions on your hard drive, or you have multiple hard drives in the computer, use the UP or DOWN arrow keys to choose your install partition. Please note that your system partition needs to be a primary partition (usually the first partition that shows up in the list), not a logical partition.
The partition should be at least 10 GB in size. Make sure that all the data you need from this partition is copied elsewhere, because it will be deleted.

Once you have selected the right partition selected, press ENTER. You will see the next “you already have a system installed” screen only if you already have Windows installed on this partition. If you are installing on a brand-new hard drive, skip to Step 7.

Step 6: Continue Installing On The Selected Drive

Press C to continue. You will be given a list of install options

Step 7: Format The Selected Partition

Select the option to “Format the partition using the NTFS file system (quick) and press ENTER.You will receive a warning about formatting the drive unless the drive is brand-new.

Step 8: Continue With The Format

Press F to continue formatting selected partition. If you still haven’t backed up, this is the last change to backup your important data, after this step you will not to able to go back and restore your data.

Step 9: Copying Files

After the format setup will automatically copy files and restart your computer. Go to BIOS and remove CD-ROM Drive from first boot device. Start your computer.

Step 10: Automatic Installation After Restart

Setup will continue to install after the restart. it will ask you for the product key and user name etc. Fill the forms yourself.

After The Installation

Install the missing drivers because windows XP will install a limited set of drivers,you’ll have to find the rest. To see which drivers you’re missing, go to the Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager. Things next to a Yellow exclamation is a missing driver. You’ll need to reinstall these drivers from a system CD that came with your computer or download them from the manufacture’s website.

How TO fix Up side Down Display : Windows xp

Problem:

Your Widows XP screen / Display turn up sized down unintentionally
Your Screen Orientation Turn, Left, Right, Up or Down unintentionally

How To Fix:

How to change screen orientation? Follow this simple and easy step.

Hold down “Ctrl” button + Directional Key either “Up”, “Down”, “Left” or “Right”

Directional key will determine where exactly your screen display will rotate.

Screen Capture on Samsung Galaxy s

How exactly can you take screen shoot images from your Samsung Galaxy S? I heard most people said, Samsung or Google has restricted Galaxy S user for taking screen shoot of the phone display. However that claim is totally false.

I’ve been using Samsung Galaxy S nearly a year now and I’m wonder sometime my device taking it own screen shoot. With the wonder and my try and error habit, I’m exploring all combination key as possible on my device and finally come with solid and useful finding.

There is very simple step on how you can take a screen shoot of your Samsung Galaxy S, just follow step below:

Open any apps that you want to capture
To capture your screen or current running apps, hold down “back” and follow by “home" button. You’ll here camera clicking sound.
Once you complete action number 2, you can get the image from your gallery. Please note, sometime the image will not be in the Gallery right away. However, you can get the screen captured image from your Root Directory.
Open apps called “my files” and look for folder called “Screen Capture”

You can try this step on Samsung Galaxy S : GT-I1900. I’m not sure either this will work on any other Samsung Galaxy Version or any other Android Devices. I did tried to run the same step on HTC Desire but eventually its not working at all. We believe, different combination key are applies for different Android Phone.
