Running in your system tray, FARR is innocuous and uses little RAM. Hit the Pause/Break key to bring up the launching window; as you type, FARR narrows down your choices. In that sense, FARR functions like many other launchers. Search results are numbered and automatically sorted using built-in scoring systems unique to the program. If you want returned-result number nine, for example, simply type ALT+9 and hit enter--there's no need to touch the mouse or continue typing a longer string. A Launch History tab keeps track of what you've launched.

While the launching and searching functions are fairly basic, the options are almost overwhelming. Users can do nearly anything with the app, from adjusting the font size, style, and color to monitoring your clipboard, taking basic screen captures, Web searches, customizing hot keys, and calculation functions. FARR is also fully portable, making this a must-have whether you're on a desktop or a laptop.

In WCW Nitro, you can take on the role of either Hollywood Hogan or Goldberg in a fight to the finish. Punches, kicks, piledrivers, and other moves (including the ability to take the action out of the ring) are all here. Each wrestler is modeled after the athletes of World Championship Wrestling and comes complete with his own rant of unbridled machismo. The demo is limited to only two wrestlers, one player, and short exhibition matches.
We like a good piledriver as much as the next Saturday-morning TV geek, but we're going to satisfy our wrestling jones elsewhere. Graphically, WCW Nitro would have disappointed players in 1999, when it was published. Today, the chunky background and crude 3D models don t come close to passing muster. The action occasionally stutters, too, even on a fast machine. The biggest problem, however, is the strange unresponsiveness of the controls. The customizable key commands rarely work as you expect, and the all-purpose action key is especially unpredictable. What's more, after each action, your character stops reacting for a few moments. Very frustrating. And if you're fantasizing about subjecting your roommate to a corkscrew moonsault, forget it: the demo only allows you to play the solo version. Considering how little they'll get for their trouble, even WCW fanatics might balk at the 15MB download.
