Through an arcane selection process known only to this shadowy organization of geeks, Half Acre Day, along with four other local bands whose members all have toilet paper trailing from the soles of their shoes, have been selected as the aforementioned battle-nerds.

Chosen by such local luminaries as big-butt-liker/non-liar Sir Mix-a-Lot and Chris Ballew and Jason Finn of the Presidents of the United States of America, the winner of this competition will receive a trophy (we envision something in lucite), bragging rights and an as-yet-unspecified Cash Prize (we envision something in the three-figure range… yeah, that's right... that's THREE).

Then, at the stroke of 11 on 11/1/11, the Presidents themselves take the stage for their special brand of rollicking, good-time rock 'n' roll! It's all enough to make you wanna cancel your Wizards Club meeting.

Wanna come check this out? For free? We can help you with that – we know people. By the way, if you're in the PS area and in the market for a good teeth-and-gums man, look him up - he's the best there is and a top-notch bloke to boot. No, we don't typically use this blog as a forum plugging healthcare providers, but in this case, we'll make a well-deserved exception.

The party was a blast and the partygoers knew what they were doing, taking the band to task and getting us to play songs on-the-fly we'd never tackled before in a two-straight-hour set. They danced. They sang along. They twisted and shouted and sat in with us. They freaking limboed. Beautiful people, all. Can't wait to do it again.

Not ones to sit on our collective hands, we headed out the next morning for an all-day video shoot with the makers of upcoming sci fi classic Project London. The song, "The Pythagoras Switch," was written by Half Acre Day exclusively for the movie, which is set in a dystopian, alternate-present-day Seattle.

We hit some great locations and got what promises to be some killer footage under the direction of filmmakers Mike McCoy and Javier Cáceres - who recently made a name for himself with this viral lip dub video, which garnered 1.7 million YouTube views, national headlines, a stint on the network talk-show circuit and a score of imitators, including the cast of The Office. Not bad!

These guys were super-pro and yet full the kind of piss-n-vinegar that only hungry young moviemakers possess. It was a joy to work with them and we can't wait to get a look at the outcome, which will eventually show up here.

Now onto the next thing: a little travelin'. We're leaving this evening for a trio of shows down in the beautiful state Oregon. We're gonna be blogging all about it, or at least as much as the state of wi-fi will allow, just so's you can keep an eye on us. Stay tuned! This oughtta be good.

Half Acre Day @ The Triple Door Musicquarium

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 133px; height: 200px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZAKt8Z8CiyA/ThzRSMPI6uI/AAAAAAAAADE/bSi5gzx1oMA/s200/path.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628603744758852322" />
Last Thursday we played at the Triple Door in Seattle at the Musicquarium for the first time. Next Saturday, July 16th, we're gonna do it again.

See, Matt Cory - HAD's bassist/conscience/spirit guide, has been spending the last several years immersed in the creation of a stunning body of visual artwork, and in the past several months has been displaying the results around town, kicking off every opening with an intimate acoustic performance by Half Acre Day. Sneaky/clever, no?

This month, his collection is hanging at the Triple Door, a classier-than-normal bar and music/art venue smack in the middle of downtown. It's a shockingly fun place to play (and see) a show, and our joy in doing so must have been evident, as we were invited back to play this weekend, an opportunity we were happy to seize.

You really ought to join us. Come have a few drinks and stand agape at the beauty of Mr. Cory's work while the strains on a newly reenergized (and acoustically reformatted) HAD massage your ear-holes.

We got the run of the place for three full hours, so expect the unexpected.

Half Acre Day @ The Triple Door Musicquarium
Saturday, July 16th
9:00pm - 12:00am
21+, No cover

New Song - Maribelle - Available Now

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a8Auqy34FXk/TW2T4SQUeqI/AAAAAAAAAC4/P4K1ozh_F9o/s200/pic_maribelle.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5579278108564159138" />

We are happy to announce that Maribelle, the 12th and final Lunar Single, is now available on iTunes. What a year it's been...

First off, we're finally nearing the end of our year-long cycle of songs. Song 11 of the 12, "Wrists," has just been released today. Give it a listen on our website and get ready to have your booty shook.

You can download "Wrists" on iTunes or at Amazon MP3.

Stay tuned for the final song in the cycle, "Maribelle," due out in January. Yessir, just as soon as we finish it.

Also! In the midst of our artistic fervor, we very recently wrote and (mostly) recorded a brand new song called "The Pythagoras Switch" for the soundtrack to the upcoming sci-fi movie Project London, coming soon to a flickhouse near you. One of our own - Sir Martin Ballew - and his lovely bride Sommer are getting hitched this coming weekend, and the band, as the male half of the wedding party, has its collective hands full trying to remember the two tiny responsibilities we've been given: To show up and to show up wearing pants.

Meanwhile we're releasing the aforementioned 6th single, practicing for upcoming shows like International Pop Overthrow and Choochokam Arts Festival (Whoops, canceled! Sorry Whidbey Island and the fine residents of Langley, WA, we will miss you), plus writing more songs because we still have six more to deliver.

Well, seven, actually... cause we're... Nah, never mind that right now. Another time, another blog.

The more astute among you may have noticed that yesterday was the new moon, and that instead of giving you something new to listen to, we're giving you a whole lot of talk, including vaguely excuse-y sounding phrases like, "this is a busy month for us."

But calm yourselves, astute ones. The song, as I previously mentioned, is completed. In fact, it is currently on it's way via this fabled Series of Tubes to the iTunes, the Amazon, and a dozen other online outlets for your downloading and listening pleasure. If it weren't for the fact that every file submitted to Apple must be manually checked for viruses by a magic talking dog (who, although super-intelligent, is hampered by a lack of thumbs) the damn song would be available the same day it's uploaded.

But yes, in a matter of days the song will show up unannounced on iTunes, we will pull the trigger and you'll all be shot full of our love. In the meantime, the band will be standing at the foot of an active volcano, wearing pants and celebrating Marty and Sommer's love. Until then, peace be with you all.

New Single and Video - "Baby Blue"

"Baby Blue," the fifth release in HAD's Lunar Singles series, is now available for your listening and viewing pleasure.

Listen to it.

Watch it:

Watch it on YouTube here.

Cheers!

<itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:subtitle>"Baby Blue," the fifth release in HAD's Lunar Singles series, is now available for your listening and viewing pleasure. All kinds of kind things, including benefits for Haiti relief and She Dances, a non-profit organization to help victims of human trafficking.

This one is a little different, though... Love in Stereo has teamed up with Nashville radio station WFHU to produce the compilation CD, "One For the Team." Proceeds from sales benefit a special needs youth baseball league in Nashville, founded by a gentleman who rightly believes that everyone should be able to play baseball. With the league growing every day with kids whose needs range from autism to brittle bone disease, they find themselves in need of a new field with special accommodations.

It's pretty amazing and inspiring that these folks - living in a region that just experienced catastrophic flooding - are so busy helping others. If so, you are a classy dude and/or chick.

Now - at least in some small way - Half Acre Day is part the history of the internet superhighway.

How? Well, Mozilla - the people responsible for the Firefox browser and big time players in the future of the internet - included as part of their keynote presentation the Project London "Multiply Teaser," so named because it features the song "Multiply," a Half Acre Day tune available only on the Project London film soundtrack.

I don't know what Mozilla's presentation was about, but but it must have had something to do with fighting robots, which I find simultaneously frightening and exhilarating. I guess there was something about opening up web video content and revolutionizing the way we watch lolcatz on the internet, blah blah, but who cares about that? Fuckin' ROBOTS, man.

It's about time, Mozilla. Now where's our flying car?

Whatever the message, you can bet HAD's Raw Rok Power set some fanny packs to shakin' at Moscone Center that day. Perhaps the pulsing rhythms precipitated some amorous convention dalliances, resulting in brilliant but socially awkward love babies. We like to think so. And that maybe - just maybe - they have our eyes.

Clockwise - The Video

<itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:author>noreply@blogger.com (HalfAcreDay)</itunes:author>

Clockwise - New Single Actually Available!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-uoAFHYanZI/S-2E6-VOQpI/AAAAAAAAABg/OfJs1soEqEo/s320/clockwise.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5471175271024312978" />
Well, it seems the people at Apple got the message, and have posted the new single to iTunes in a timely manner. Download "Clockwise" for your very own today.

Way to dodge a bullet, Steve.
