I miss the rain the seasons and I miss the selection and diversity. I miss being in a sea of people who are all fighting to survive, and to do it with dignity.<br /><br />I don't miss the struggle of it all though but strangely California provided me with just as much struggle. I found it hard to find work at times (in fact nearly impossible much of the time for someone with no college degree or marketable skills) but I tried to make the best of it.<br /><br />the more comfortable I got, the less interested I became in settling into a routine. These images say more about the world we live in than how I live in the world, but I am just trying to stay connected to nature and grounded in the truth I have established to be my own.<br /><br />Nature has a way of reminding us how fleeting and brief this all is, and society has a way of reminding us how quickly we forget it all.<br /><br />I am not a big fan of the structures and guidelines we have set up to live by. I don't see too many marriages or relationships lasting, I don't see too many healthy domestic situations and families, and I don't believe in the American dream as it stands. We've gotten lost.<br /><br />I do believe in nature and the beauty of every breath I am lucky enough to breathe. I believe if I can just have a little more time on this planet I might leave behind something I can be proud of, and fix some of what is wrong with me. I think it is near...<br /><br />Divisions and Rebirths have been occurring a lot lately... I have seen things happening around me that I never would have expected... For a long time I had thought I was growing old and fading into the distance... I thought death was very near because I had gotten lazy... I had lost a bit of my fire and passion... I had stopped pushing myself and was defining myself by what I hadn't done and was resolving that I might never do things... I had to remove myself from my body and just float above myself for a long time... I hoped I might be able to return intact but I learned that I had created a severe imbalance of dependency and need and had lost myself a bit...<br /><br />So now I am putting myself back together. Seeking pieces of the young wanderer who fearlessly stalked across new territories and sought out a world of art and adventure... <br /><br />Things I thought I would never be or have are close by...<br /><br />The things we count on change... the things we give up on return to us... the hope we hold on to holds on to us...<br /><br />This life is not meant to be controlled by us... we are already ghosts when we arrive in this world and it is just a station between stations... the people we meet are apart of us, and should be loved and cherished as we pass to the next place...<br /><br />As long as I have these images I shall not forget... Slaving for jobs you don't care about for people who don't care about you becomes a replacement for a simpler life full of artistic harmony and shared ideas and joy.<br /> <br /> Greed and power truly destroy people, because the people with power work to crush the people without. I am learning that there is nothing simple or decent.
