I try to walk in the Royal Botanic Gardens of Trinidad at least twice a week. We are very lucky to have such wonderful gardens laid out in the middle of our city. Originally established by Sir Ralph Woodford in 1818, the gardens were one of the earliest Botanic Gardens in existence and certainly one of the longest to have a continuous run. It&#39;s easy to forget how the country changes when the dry season sets in. I see it immediately in the garden. My Jade Vine has surpassed it self this year. The blooms are fighting each other to get down and open up. We don&#39;t have spring in the Caribbean but there is certainly a birds and bees feeling in the air as both are busy pollinating.

&amp;nbsp;It&#39;s been a little over a year since I&#39;ve posted on the blog. But the garden is now up and running. This is my first lotus bloom. It is a double and is very dramatic. I can now see it from my kitchen.


The copper is full of duck weed which has to be skimmed frequently, water lettuce, and water lilies.
