On the 7th of July the phonoclassical team had the honor of collaborating once more with the world renowned tenor voice Johan Botha in a live audio recording production at Bellver Castle. We are in the process of postproduction to release a promo-cd . As expected it was an incredible experience and concert.

Phonoclassical has been busy lately producing and recording a live with the UIB choir , Yuko Mizutani (piano) ,Pere Bonet (Tenor) and Maestro Joan Company . This recording was done for a live dvd-v production in a unique location near the village of Llucmajor in Mallorca. We will have some audio and video fragments available shortly.

Phonoclassical has been collaborating with "Obra Social, Sa Nostra" and " Joventuts Musicals de Palma " to record the 2011 chamber music festival . We have had the pleasure of recording and producing artists such as Catalina Sureda (violin), Neus Estarellas (piano) , Samika Honda (violin), Sylvain Durantel (viola), Julien Lazignat (cello) , Emmanuel Christien (piano), Rodrigo Vila ( Saxophone) and Yuko Mizutani ( piano).

Phonoclassical live streams the "Artista de l'Any 2011" live concert from the auditorium in the conservatory of music and performing arts of the Balearic Islands. The 2011 prize was for the composer Joan Valent who has recently finished music works for the documentary "How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster, premiered at this year´s Berlinale. At the concert Valent premiered new works conducted by Josep Vicent , soloists : Andreu Riera (piano) , Josep Manuel Sanchez (Tenor) , Cris Juanico ( Lead Singer) and Smerald Spahiu (Solo Violin) and the balearic islands symphony orchestra (OSB).

The Long Island Youth Orchestra

On the 7th of July chamber groups from The Long Island Youth Orchestra performed as part of their summer tour at the Theatre of Petra in Palma de Mallorca. This concert was organized by the Rotary Baleares Club in memory of Father Serra from Petra. Phonoclassical recordings was there to record their live performance.

The concert guitar player and professor Jovan Milosevski has started a project at Phonoclassical recording. Jovan wants to compile some of his favorite classical concert repertoire in this album as well as some unusual classical composers.

After some acoustics location hunting we have chosen the chapel located in "La Posada Del Marqués" a medium sized space with lovely reverb and timbre for classical guitar. At the moment we are doing some microphone pitching and preamp selection to decide our best character and sound for Jovan.

We have been busy doing a studio recording for a cd of violin and piano pieces in the Auditorium of the museum Palau March in Palma de Mallorca .The artists involved are Sebastian See-Schierenberg (Violin) and Alfredo Oyaguez (piano). The well chosen repertoire recorded includes interesting composers such as Tchaikovsky , Piazzola , Debussy , Sarasate , Mascagni, Bela Bartok between others..

Iker Olabe will go to Polyhymnia international studios in Holland worldwide known for being Philips Classical recording studios to complete the mastering process . This recording sounds specially natural and follows the Telarc phylosophy of natural bass response and Real-istic sound very much followed by our team.

Here is Telarc's statement on Bass from the Audio Asylum: "For the record, we have never worked to emphasize the basses, low frequencies, or bass drums on Telarc recordings. We simply record with excellent FLAT omni mics, keep the recording path wide open and FLAT, and do nothing to take away low-end. The low-end on the recordings is representative of what was there AT THE SESSION and ON-STAGE. Many, many orchestral recordings have had the low-frequencies attenuated, especially the older classics originally released on LP. If one's system has been tuned for playback of the oldies, then playback of a current flat response recording will sound as if the low-end is overblown. Which one is correct? Since I'm there at the inception - and can compare to what is hitting the mics live on-stage - the FLAT RESPONSE recording is by far the closest."

Flamingo is a high quality 2-channel Discrete Class A Microphone Preamplifier. It can be operated as a musically transparent amplifier, and is capable of emulating vintage sounds as well as creating distinctive new ones.

A stepped switch for gain matching and repeatability selects the input gain; a continuously variable attenuator allows gain trim. Gain is adjustable in 6 db increments to 66 db gain and down to off by the attenuator.

Each channel has independently switchable phase and phantom power switches.

Flamingo also contains a 2-channel, 22-element VU meter with an overload indicator to allow accurate monitoring and ease of level adjustment.

Unique to Flamingo are two switches that allow the user to select different sounds: IRON and SOUND.

Stereo192 ADC is a two channel hi-end Analog to Digital converter for recording and mastering applications. The main feature of this converter is its outstanding sound quality which makes it suitable for the most demanding projects when preserving the original signal quality is a required.
