World Cup - Surprise Picks and Omissions

Similar to India's 1 surprise pick & Sri Lanka's 2 surprise omissions in their 2011 World Cup squads, most other teams had at least one selection that was odd.

Australia picked Brett Lee and David Hussey, who hadn't played any internationals for nearly 1.5 years. With the tournament being played in the sub-continent, Australia picked 1.6 specialist spinners (Steve Smith bowls 6 overs per game on an average). Now that's a bizarre pick. Australia's part-time spin options are David Hussey (2 overs per game before he was picked in the squad) and Cameron White (2-3 overs per game when he had the skipper's trust and had not even bowled a single ball since August 2009). With 5 quicks & an all-rounder, clearly Australia are relying on pace to win. Seems like a gamble to me.

Despite investing nearly a year in Craig Kieswetter and Steve Davies, England went back to Matt Prior. Other than that, the squad seems reasonably balanced, with a couple of bits-and-pieces players in Luke Wright & James Tredwell.
Luke Woodcock is the unknown player in New Zealand's squad. He hadn't even played an ODI before he was picked. The squad seems weak on the batting though, and the opening slot hasn't yet been sorted out.

Pakistan didn't have any major surprises in the squad, but they did come up with one bolter. They didn't name a captain! That said, the batting definitely looks shaky with only Younis Khan & Misbah having the skills to do a good job with the middle overs. Only 2 specialist spinners were picked, which seems odd for a Pakistani side playing a World Cup in the sub-continent.

South Africa, by contrast, picked 3 specialist spinners, 2 of who are newbies. South Africa's problem is with #6, #7 and #8. Having dropped Boucher, who used to come in at #6 & #7 and salvage a crisis, they don't have too many experienced players to fill up those slots. The batting essentially ends after Duminy (typically at #5).

West Indies have picked just 5 bowlers (3 quicks & 2 spinners) and are obviously hoping that Dwayne Bravo will bowl his full spell and pick up wickets regularly.

The other omission was that of Eden Gardens. The ground won't host the India v England game & the match will now be played at Bangalore. But there seems to be some ambiguity around it. Kyazoonga, the official ticketing partner, doesn't list the India v England game. Does this mean backroom negotiations are still going on, and Eden Gardens will get the game?

Actually, the Cricket Association of Bengal, which is really the main agency to be blamed for the

fiasco, should just relinquish its hosting rights for the other games at the ground, each of which is guaranteed to bring in crowds of at least 90000.

After 14 Years, Cricket World Cup is finally returned to Asia (India-Sri Lanka-Bangladesh). Last time World Cup was hosted in Asia in 1996 and Sri Lanka merge winners of the ICC Wills World Cup. Unfortunately, this time Pakistan will not host any games of 2011 world cup because of security concern.

ICC has tried their best to shorten the 2011 world cupIndia will host 29 matches, Sri Lanka will host 12 matches and 8 games will be hosted by Bangladesh. as compared to 2007 world cup. So there will be 49 number of games will be played in 2011 as compared to 51 in 2007. Also the length of the tournament will be shorten by a week. Out of forty nine games,India will host one quarter final in Ahmedabad, one semi final in Mohali and Final of World Cup 2011 in Wankhede

Fourteen teams will participate in 2011 World Cup with 14 teams divided into two groups each containing seven teams. Group A contains Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Canada while Group B includes India, South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands.

The tournament will start with the game between India and Bangladesh on February 19th at Mirpur, Dhaka and tournament will ends with the Final on April 2 in renovated Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. There will be total 13 venues will be used for the tournament.

First quarter final will be played on March 23rd in Colombo, while second quarter final will be played on March 24th in Mirpur. Third quarterfinal will be played in Ahmedabad on 25th March and fourth quarterfinal will be hosted by Sri Lanka in Colombo on March 26th 2011. First semi final will be played on 29th March in Colombo and second semi final will be played on March 30th in Mohali

Yaya Toure is the highest paid midfielder now with the rich dad Manchester City.City's manager Mancini grabbed Toure from Barcelona as a free agent and offered him the highest ever paid salary. However, we find no logic behind signing Toure. City had Vincent Kompany and Nigel De Jong who were developing as good future players. The addition of Toure simply means a block in the career of those.Secondly, highest paid player? No you gotta be kidding.Toure is known for his physical prowess and technical ability on the pitch, he is a monster and can dominate over the players. However, he has shown no sign of greatness since his transfer and will be just "good" for City this year.And you don't spend millions behind a "just good" player. Logical enough to mark him as a flop one.

4 Joe Cole (Liverpool)
Cole has been a microcosm of Liverpool’s season. Having made changes over the summer both entered the season with expectations relatively low, coming off a down year they were expected to return to their level of form if not better. These modest expectations have not been met. Joe Cole continues to frustrate, a bright pre-season was marred by a lapse in judgement as he ruled himself out for 3 matches. On his return he was placed on the left wing, despite his preference to play in the middle of the pitch where he feels he is best, as a left winger he has been poor. His crossing is not of the standard required and as he drifts inside he clutters the middle of the pitch alongside Lucas, Gerrard, Meireles and Maxi who also tends to drift inside. Not to labour the point but this would be effective if Liverpool’s full-backs were allowed to overlap. No, Joe Cole has shown the same level of performance for Liverpool as he did for Chelsea, alot was made of the youngster coming through at West Ham, now 28 (29 in a week) Cole has fulfilled none of that promise. At Stamford Bridge last year as Inter knocked out Chelsea Cole was introduced to a large cheer from the fans but he flattered to deceive as usual and was inconsequential for 20 minutes. At Liverpool he continues this poor form. In a position that doesn’t suit him, taking playing time away from players who could be more useful on the wing Joe Cole’s tenure at Liverpool has been as bad as their season

5 Raul Meireles: (Liverpool)
The Portuguese midfielder was one of the more expensive (excluding Man City) transfers of the summer. Bought with the proceeds of Javier Mascherano’s forced sale, Meireles was to replace the defensive nature of the Argentinean with some creativity and dynamism, so far all Meireles has accomplished has been to make Lucas look better by comparison. This is (of course) not to write him off completely, he has never been a prolific goal-scorer and is more a box-to-box player who very rarely misses a game, however so far he has shown very little quality to go with his effort. His passing has seemed limited (this may be a tactical instruction) and his shooting has been woeful, in a Liverpool team that has been all accounts terrible it would be hard to stand out or even excel but for 12 million more has been expected

For a couple years I've been blaming it on
lack of sleep and too much pressure from my job,
but now I found out the real reason:

I'm tired because I'm overworked!

The population of this country is 237 million.

104 million are retired.

That leaves 133 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school,
which leaves 48 million to do the work.

Of this there are 29 million employed
by the federal government,
leaving 19 million to do the work.

2.8 million are in the Armed Forces,
which leaves 16.2 million to do the work.

Take from the total the 14,800,000 people
who work for State and City Governments
and that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals, leaving1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the work.

How To Choose The Right IPO

Over the last year or so, the stock market has been hogging the limelight. Companies have been coming out with Intial Public Offerings (which is when the company first makes its shares available to the public by getting them listed on the stock exchange). Everyone wants to join the party and make money.

Let's say you do get in on an IPO. Here are a few things to look out for.

1. No History
It's hard enough to analyze the stock of an established company. An IPO company is even trickier to analyze since there won't be a lot of historical information. Your main source of data is the red herring, so make sure you examine this document carefully. Look for the usual information, but also pay special attention to the management team and how they plan to use the funds generated from the IPO.

2.The Lockup Period

If you look at the charts following many IPOs, you'll notice that after a few months the stock takes a steep downturn. This is often because of the lockup period.When a company goes public, the underwriters make company officials and employees sign a lockup agreement. Lockup agreements are legally binding contracts between the underwriters and insiders of the company, prohibiting them from selling any shares of stock for a specified period of time. The period can be anything from 3 to 24 months. 90 days is the minimum period stated under Rule 144 (SEC law) but the lockup specified by the underwriters can last much longer. The problem is, when lockups expire all the insiders are permitted to sell their stock. The result is a rush of people trying to sell their stock to realize their profit. This excess supply can put severe downward pressure on the stock price.

3.Avoid the Hype
Since IPOs only happen once for each company, they are often presented as "once in a lifetime" opportunities. Of course, some IPOs soar high and keep soaring. But many end up selling below their offering prices within the year. Don't buy a stock only because it's an IPO - do it because it's a good investment.

4.Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) **

If the issue has been subscribed more in qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) followed and non-institutional section, then the probability of IPO to be a hit increases.

Easiest way to get LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) up and running on Linux

I guess most of the people already know how to set up LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) envirnment on Linux still most of us face issues while trying to install it.

Steps:

1. MYSQL5

To install MySQL, we do this:

yum install mysql mysql-server

Start the MySQL server:

/etc/init.d/mysqld start

Run

mysql -h hostname -p password -u username -P port

2. Apache

To Install

yum install httpd;

Start the Apache

/etc/init.d/httpd start

3. Php-5

To Install

yum install php

We must restart Apache afterwards:

/etc/init.d/httpd restart

4. Php Admin

To Install

yum install phpmyadmin

Now we configure phpMyAdmin.
We change the Apache configuration so that phpMyAdmin allows connections not just from localhost
vi /etc/httpd/conf.d/phpMyAdmin.conf

We must restart Apache afterwards:
/etc/init.d/httpd restart

If she doesn't unlock the mask in time, her lower jaw will be ripped wide open. She survives, but her cell mate doesn't. Through a series of flashbacks, we learn of more victims, and of the nearly-successful capture of the Jigsaw Killer, who doesn't actually kill his victims. He approaches Don Corleone about it, but, much against the advice of the Don’s lawyer Tom Hagen, the Don is morally against the use of drugs, and turns down the offer. The Don barely survives, which leads his son Michael to begin a violent mob war against Sollozzo and tears the Corleone family apart.

This true story follows FBI agent Joe Pistone as he infiltrates the mafia of New York. Ruggiero and Pistone become tight as the group goes about collecting money for ‘the bosses’. Eventually, the group become big time when Black himself becomes a boss, all the while Pistone collects evidence. The real dilemma is afforded to Pistone, who knows if he walks away from the mafia, Ruggiero will be the one punished.

When Blondie and Tuco comes across a horse carriage loaded with dead bodies, they soon learn from the only survivor (Bill Carson) that he and a few other men have buried a stash of gold in a cemetery. Unfortunately Carson dies and Tuco only finds out the name of the cemetery, while Blondie finds out the name on the grave. Now the two must keep each other alive in order to find the gold. Angel Eyes (who had been looking for Bill Carson) discovers that Tuco and Blondie meet with Carson and knows they know the location of the gold. All he needs is for the two to lead him to it. n the Battle of Thermopylae of 480 BC an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian army in the mountain pass of Thermopylae. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. Persian King Xerxes lead a Army of well over 100,000 (Persian king Xerxes before war has about 170,000 army) men to Greece and was confronted by 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians and other Slave soldiers. Xerxes waited for 10 days for King Leonidas to surrender or withdraw left with no options he moved. The battle lasted for about 3 days and after which all 300 Spartans were killed. The Spartan defeat was not the one expected, as a local shepherd, named Ephialtes, defected to the Persians and informed Xerxes of a separate path through Thermopylae, which the Persians could use to outflank the Greeks.

1.Casablanca

During World War II, Europeans who were fleeing from the Germans, sought refuge in America. But to get there they would first have to go Casablanca and once they get there, they have to obtain exit visas which are not very easy to come by. Now the hottest spot in all of Casablanca is Rick's Cafe which is operated by Rick Blaine, an American expatriate, who for some reason can't return there, and he is also extremely cynical. Now it seems that two German couriers were killed and the documents they were carrying were taken. Now one of Rick's regulars, Ugarte entrusts to him some letters of transit, which he intends to sell but before he does he is arrested for killing the couriers. Captain Renault, the Chief of Police, who is neutral in his political views, informs Rick that Victor Laszlo, the European Resistance leader, is in Casablanca and will do anything to get an exit visa but Renault has been "told" by Major Strasser of the Gestapo, to keep Laszlo in Casablanca. Laszlo goes to Rick's to meet Ugarte, because he was the one Ugarte was going to sell the letters to. But since Ugarte was arrested he has to find another way. Accompanying him is Ilsa Lund, who knew Rick when he was in Paris, and when they meet some of Rick's old wounds reopen. It is obvious that Rick's stone heart was because of her leaving him. And when they learn that Rick has the letters, he refuses to give them to him, because "he doesn't stick his neck out for anyone".

An inordinately complex man who has been labeled everything from hero, to charlatan, to sadist, Thomas Edward Lawrence blazed his way to glory in the Arabian desert, then sought anonymity as a common soldier under an assumed name. The story opens with the death of Lawrence in a motorcycle accident in London at the age of 47, then flashbacks to recount his adventures: as a young intelligence officer in Cairo in 1916, he is given leave to investigate the progress of the Arab revolt against the Turks in World War I. In the desert, he organizes a guerrilla army and--for two years--leads the Arabs in harassing the Turks with desert raids, train-wrecking and camel attacks. Eventually, he leads his army northward and helps a British General destroy the power of the Ottoman Empire.

By the start of the 1940s, Szpilman has seen his world go from piano concert halls to the Jewish Ghetto of Warsaw and then must suffer the tragedy of his family deported to a German concentration camps, while Szpilman is conscripted into a forced German Labor Compound. At last deciding to escape, Szpilman goes into hiding as a Jewish refugee where he is witness to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (April 19, 1943 - May 16, 1943) and the Warsaw Uprising (1 August to 2 October 1944)

Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. Persian King Xerxes lead a Army of well over 100,000 (Persian king Xerxes before war has about 170,000 army) men to Greece and was confronted by 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians and other Slave soldiers. Xerxes waited for 10 days for King Leonidas to surrender or withdraw left with no options he moved. The battle lasted for about 3 days and after which all 300 Spartans were killed. The Spartan defeat was not the one expected, as a local shepherd, named Ephialtes, defected to the Persians and informed Xerxes of a separate path through Thermopylae, which the Persians could use to outflank the Greeks.

7.Troy

It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnom to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. Thriller movies are fascinating to me, which is why I've put together this list of the top ten thrillers ever created. Horror movies can be scary, but thrillers offer something horror movies generally don't - a glimpse into reality.Many thrillers are based on true events, and while most are fictitious in nature, they could happen. You won't find movies with ghosts or goblins on this list. In my view, a thriller is a movie that features human monsters and storylines that could happen in real life. And yes, before you ask I've looked up each and every movie and made sure they were rated as a thriller before adding them to the list. I've also visited dozens of online forums and looked at similar lists and personally watched all of the movies.

"Memento" is still a unique mystery thriller. It is a tantalizing experience we do not often come across at the movies.

For audiences who like to sit back and relax, this film is a waste of time. It requires us to follow along, participate, fit puzzle pieces together-"Memento" doesn't provide any easy or obvious answers. But it is Kevin Spacey (in an Oscar-winning part) that makes "The Usual Suspects" work on all levels intelligent and thoughtful kids will not be able to follow this film; it is intended for adult audiences. "Memento" is one of the year's most challenging movies, not to be missed if you are looking for something clever and original.

6. The Usual Suspects

is a complicated puzzle of a movie that I bet you can't watch just once. The film deals with five career crooks who have big plans after they are all brought together in a police lineup. However, their mayhem is interrupted by a mysterious character named Kaiser Sose who plans to eliminate all five of the crooks after they all crossed him in various ways during their checkered pasts. An amazing original screenplay and tight direction keep up a substantial amount of tension throughout. Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Baldwin, Benicio Del Toro, Kevin Pollak, Pete Postlethwaite, and Chazz Palminteri all give top-notch performance

7.The Sixth Sense

Malcom Crowe is a child psychologist who receives an award on the same night that he is visited by a very unhappy ex-patient. After this encounter, Crowe takes on the task of curing a young boy with the same ills as the ex-patient.This boy "sees dead people". Crowe spends a lot of time with the boy (Cole) much to the dismay of his wife. Cole's mom is at her wit's end with what to do about her son's increasing problems. Crowe is the boy's only hope.

Commuters once again had a harrowing time on Delhi roads on Tuesday with water-logging after rains resulting in traffic snarls and breakdown of vehicles in many areas.

I commute from delhi to noida daily which is approx 21KM and it take me 45min-1hr.
But yesterday it take me 1hr just to cross "Moti Bagh-Hyatt flyover".The complete journey time changes from 45min to 4.5 hr.

Adding to the rain woes, many huge vehicles like tempo or truck break down on roads and cause huge traffic problem. During rainy season, breakdown being a common feature, crane services should be provided to clear the vehicle immediately and the traffic police should restore smooth movement of traffic at the earliest.

If not some measures are taken soon then instead of waiting for this lovely weather to come. Please will pray "PLEASE DONT RAIN".

Today is Friday the 13th, A day everyone is aware of and is often considered with bad luck or ill fate. The superstition is hovering upon the whole world and it is in fact the most feared day. The legend no body really is aware of but still everyone believes.

Lets begin with the two most ill fated happenings that occurred on Friday.

The first is set in the beginning of mankind. Friday was the day on which Eve tempted Adam and there itself begin the evolution of mankind and evolution of knowledge. But it's also considered the fall of mankind cause Satan succeeded in his mission.
The second is the crucifixion of Christ which was again carried on a Friday.

But what's with the 13th? A thousand years ago a French King conquered the holy city of Jerusalem. The massive crusade was actually orchestrated by a secret brotherhood - The priory of Sion. Their military arm was known as 'The Knights Templar'. The invasion was to find an artifact lost since the time of Christ. It was supposedly said that the the importance of the artifact was so grave that the church would have killed to possess it. One day the Templar stopped searching. They quit the holy land and traveled to Rome. They either blackmailed the Papacy or church bought their silence that Papacy declared these Priory Knights or the Knights Templar with limitless power.

By 1300, the Templar had grown too powerful and threatening. So the Vatican issued secret orders to be opened simultaneously all over the Europe. The Pope had declared these Templar the Satan worshipers and said that God has charged him with cleansing the earth of these heretics. The plan worked and the Knights Templar were all but exterminated, butchered, burned alive. The bloodshed was carried out on 'October 13th 1307', a 'Friday'. 'Friday the 13th'.

Although when Pope sent troops to claim the Priory's treasure they found that few surviving Knights of the Priory had vanished and the search of their artifact - 'The Holy Grail' began again and the truth still remains closed.

So this is the most promising history of the unlucky Friday the 13th for me.

Big Questions before start of English Premier league 2010-2011

The English Premier League will kick off on Saturday 14 August 2010.
Newcastle-united and West Bromwich Albion will fight in big stage again.Both these these are back after just one year of championship football.
New Boyz blackpool will fight in the biggest stage for the first time in history of EPL.Blackpool will be the 43rd different club to be in EPL.

There are some question in my mind about the upcoming season

1.Chelsea to go back-to-back for the title ??
Chelsea are surely the favourites to retain the title they won. The worrying part is that to retain the title they surely need to strengthen in certain parts they 're perhaps lacking last season , added to the fact that the ageing squad is yet another year older.

2.MANU will bounce back to win the season
Manchester united under sir alex ferguson is always expected to win the title.But we have seen in the last season no one is able to fill the big void created by the departure of cristiano ronaldo.Once again they will be dependent of wayne rooney.
Second striker berbatov is much below power last season and Javier Hernandez will probably replace him as the second striker.

3.Can Arsenal ends their trophies less campaign
Arsenal is considered to be most watched team. For the past decade and more, they have been considered part of the so-called Big Four, along with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool. But now that old order is crumbling, and Arsenal are struggling to keep pace with the other big clubs.Players are getting frustrated as they having nothing to show in their cabinet.
Is this team still too young for win the title ??

4.Win money buy success to MANCITY this year
Splashed the cash again this summer does not mean that they will win the premier league title this year !!!! or will they ???
Mancini is decent manager but when you have so many stars and even they are not sure of starting11 place, then situation is not that easy.
Certainly they have the best bench squad in EPL , but lack team-coordination last year.But i really feel they are one of biggest contender of EPL this year.

5.Does fairy tale run of SPURS will continue this year ??
I think the expectation are too high for this limited talented squad.They have qualified for champions league for the first time and i really feels they are not able to repeat the form this year as well.High expectation from the club will made them difficult to finish even for UEFA club.
But they have harry rednapp as manager who knows what to do in such circumstance.

6.Will LIVERPOOL finish in top 4??
Good news for the club is that big starts Torres & Gerrad is going nowhere.The club is currently on talk over its takeover.But club lacks good players to fight for the title but if takeover goes on time ...who knows may be they are full of big stars.
But i really feels this year for liverpool is only aiming to finish in top4.

7. BLACKPOOL don't be another 'Derby County'
Those who follow EPL, must remember a team called "derby County".This team was playing like school boyz.I have never seen such a talentless team in my entire EPL viewing.I really don't want blackpool in the same category.
