When it comes to my profession as a chiropractor, I hear lines like “It just happened or the symptoms came out of nowhere and I didn’t do anything out the ordinary.” Unfortunately, many people think they are well when it comes to their movement patterns or biomechanics until an issue occurs. Typically, these issues occur out of nowhere or for some benign reason like picking up the trash or moving too quickly. As a doctor of Chiropractic, it is my job not to sugar coat the truth but help my patients understand that most of us carry around a lot of biomechanical issues, myself included. Chiropractic care can easily be one of the most potent tools in the wellness toolbox when used regularly. Chiropractic is one of the most efficient and effective ways at not only reducing pain and problems but also actively creating biomechanical wellness. Many patients have met Madi throughout the years as she is Chris and Kari Resch oldest daughter and began helping at the front desk when she was in high school. Following high school, Madi went to college at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she completed her degree in sports medicine/athletic training. During her time in Madison, she completed clinical rotations with the UW Badgers football, basketball, softball, track, and cross-country teams. Madi also spent a full semester working with high school aged athletes at Monona Grove High School. After graduating from UW Madison, Madi went on to study at Palmer College of Chiropractic. While studying there, she was also on the athletic training staff for the college&#39;s rugby teams.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Madi moved back to the Fox Valley area in February of 2021 to complete her last chiropractic clinical rotation at our office. Her husband, Alex, and two fur babies, Gus (black lab), and Bruce (cat), were so excited to finally have her back home! Now that Madi&#39;s internship is completed, she is officially joining the Schubbe Resch family as our newest Doctor of Chiropractic! &lt;li&gt;Tread carefully until you know if there is ice underneath that thin layer of snow.&amp;nbsp; A little bit of exploratory walking will help you determine if you can walk normally or not.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Keep your hands out of your pockets while walking on slippery surfaces so you can use your arms for balance.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Walk on the southern portions of sidewalks and parking lots as the sun may have melted any ice in those areas.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Walk like a penguin!&amp;nbsp; Spread your feet out, put your arms out for balance, and take small steps.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Using small shuffling steps to keep both feet on the ground.&amp;nbsp; This will give you better balance and traction.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Use handrails on steps and consider taking them one at a time if they are icy.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;If you find yourself falling, try to fall to your side, having most of the fall absorbed by your thigh, hip or shoulder. Keep relaxed and and try not to stick out your arm to avoid breaking your wrist or arm.&lt;/li&gt;
