I live on the Massachusetts border with New Hampshire. The town closest to me is Hollis with tons of New England charm, so I must say it's always a pleasure to paint there. I have done this scene a few times,different style. I did one in Pastel, that was sold right away, also have done it in Pen & ink.

After leaving my studio in Lowell after 11 years . I have ventured to some new places in New England, mostly coastal towns . In the late Spring I joined the Folly Cove Gallery in Rockport Massachusetts.

This past month I also have joined the Ceres Gallery in Portsmouth NH.

I have been busy painting all Summer and really enjoy many coastal scenes in my travels.

I always been fascinated with street scene ! over the years, I have painted different scenes ,landscapes,seascapes animals, etc... but seems to go back to the street scenes . So I probably should concentrate on that, they seem to call my name !

My paintings are all originals , some are done on location , some are after I have visited an area and go back home with some reference to work from ! I strive to be original work.

If I don't blog as often I used too, it's because I do a lot on Facebook and Instagram.

I have not posted for awhile. It's not that I have forgotten about my blog, actually have been very busy with some commissions. I painted this awhile back, it was actually a demo to show an Artist group, how to use pastels and keep it loose and impressionistic. The medium is a bit messy but you really get nice affects.
This is a beautiful farm in our town, the Blood farm ! only a few farm are left in most towns these days, this one still has pristine pastures with rolling hills .

I could paint this mountain everyday of the week and it would look different, as the atmosphere is ever changing. When we arrived on February 25 , the excitement of seen that mountain and our friend Dave Drinon already at his easel, made me take mine as soon as I could and quickly take my pastels out, and just do it . The sun has gone out a bit! In the next few days,we had every kind of weather possible and off course snow, but it is our goal to paint in snow and call it snow camp. I don't know how many time I have painted that tree, but it always looks different as well. This is a little late to reminiscing about snow camp, but Covid 19 has thrown a bit of unusual in all our lives. And good times of memories are a good thing !

Yesterday I posted about being in South Carolina, but the week before I was at a painting retreat at The Inn at Sunset Hill in New Hampshire . Having a great time with all my Artist friends,10 of us who have gone there for many years, and just love this place. A place we can relax and step outside to do Plein Air and forget about the rest of the world, end the day with a great meal, a glass of wine and telling wonderful stories. We did get some news about the pandemic in Europe, but seemed so distant and it would never affect us, little did we know it was coming !
The view from the Inn is just beautiful and changes by the minute of the day, this was when the sky was changing at the end of the day and managed to capture that little pink in the sky.

It was March 11, my daughter had taken me to visit Charleston and some beautiful plantation along the coast, this one happen to be Botany Bay Plantation, so peaceful and serene.We had a great time until we got a call from home talking about the virus. My grand daughter was to get home from NY the next day, and I was to live South Carolina the day after, before it got to dangerous to fly. Well that was the start of confinement, two months later and still at home !
I did paint this scene as soon as I got back .

This Fort William Henry is a great site to visit, the real Colonial Pemaquid .17th century 18th early century. Conflicts between the French and English settlers and Native American.

Another dream : My favorite time of the year is to Visit the Boston Garden, with it's pretty flowering trees, new green grass, seeing the people enjoying taking their dogs for a walk , people sitting on benches, all the nice things you see on a spring day. I always like to bring my sketch book there .
Well it looks like I will miss it this year, the quarantine has been extended. So we must be patient and safe !
This painting might be a good memory for someone who has gone to School in Boston!

The North End of Boston with it's rich Italian heritage, with wonderful bakeries and restaurants . I can smell the bread and the wonderful aromas that comes out of these places, as I am writing this.
So I will dream a little longer just to be safe !

Recent demo at the Chelmsford art Society.

It was an honor to recently do a demo for the Chelmsford, Massachusetts Art Society.
Very familiar with this group where I have been a member since 1982 .
I was asked to do a pastel ,being a favorite medium! I truly enjoyed the process to paint in front of an audience. I choose a familiar scene to me,of a New England pond in late fall ,also everyone loves birch trees .
This now finished painting will be on display at The Chelmsford Library for the Holiday show!

While at the Inn at our February Art retreat, Denise and I rented this beautiful room with twin bed and this is when I decided to do a bed series, I painted this one there, just a small one 4x5 . I have many other beds to do, but also have to paint a few commissions in between, so it is taking me a little longer then I though. So stay tunes!

Finely home from my travels and need to post again! I sometimes post on Facebook and then in Instagram but it is not the same as a blog .
I went to France to visit my family after loosing my sister before my husband, and my brother six months after I lost Tim.This trip was way over due, mostly visiting all my relatives, lots of nice dinners and memories.
Then I made a quick trip to Maryland to visit my son and his family
So now I need to get serious and get back to my routine of painting daily!
and also thinking Summer fun at the ocean like this nice Lobster boat I passed this summer while in my son's boat on the Saco River in Maine .

I have just spend three magnificent days up in these mountains doing plein air painting with wonderful friends, our third mini retreat .
Staying at the beautiful Sunset Hill at Sugar Hill.
The weather was great just enough snow to make this place magical. I mostly painted in watercolor , the previous years I had painted this scene in oil and pastel.

Sketch on the day I went and sketched the Lighthouse, it was a beautiful day with some nice breaking waves, and the best way to capture this was a quick sketch of a combination of watercolor and gouache . In my sketchbook !
