Jordan Elections 2013

So today is the big day!
People in Jordan already started voting since 7:00 a.m. this morning.
The Vote is expected to go on until 7:00 p.m. this evening.
This Jordan's 17th parliament, and what makes it special is the new voting act, where each citizen will have two votes instead of one (one for a local candidate, and the other for a nationwide list chosen by the voter).

But this blog is about fun stuff, not politics, so I will not go into the boring details.

So what fun stuff can we find under the "Jordan elections 2013" subject?

Let me go back to when the government started encouraging people to get their election cards, I remember seeing posters and ads showing public figures, like the famous singer Omar Abdallat, holding an election card with a motto "Because it is your call", or something like that.

That inspired a number of artists and cartoonists to replace those public figures with other characters like Bat man, or figures like the ones in the following pictures:

I don't know who's in the last picture, but I'm assuming he is a former member of parliament, or a candidate, since the picture says "If you wanna see my face in the parliament, go register and let's get over with!".

There were many pictures like the above, there is no space to display them all here!

So, after every body registered, and got their election cards, it was the turn of the candidates to register and start hanging their posters.
I must say that the campaigns in this election are much more inviting.

I mean before it was just mottoes and talk, but now there are smart TV ads, more posters with pictures instead of just empty signs with mottoes and promises.

I remember seeing a TV ad for one of the lists (list is equivalent to party I guess, it is a list of candidates of course) who is lead by a pilot.

The symbol of the list was naturally an aircraft, and the TV ad says "Dear voters, the national union list would like to announce its flight to the parliament...etc." I don't remember the whole ad, and i couldn't find it on Youtube, but it is a new campaigning method indeed.

As for the posters, in the past elections I remember if a candidate would show his face on a flier or something, teenagers would bring out all the art talents they have to mutilate his / her image.
This election is no exception, only this time it is done on bigger pictures!

of course, artists and cartoonists didn't waste the chance of mocking up those posters.

There is just fun every where, I have always been fond of the Jordanian sense of humor (remember the post about the last snow storm in Amman).

So I wish everybody in Jordan a "Happy Vote" day.
Hope we'll have a better parliament in Jordan with better members of parliament.
We don't want members who act like the cat in the below picture:

Winter in Amman!

Winter is always cold in Amman.
There are always chances for showers, snow, and of course some dry and sunny days.

4 days ago the weather gone mad or something!

It was rainy for two days, and not just rainy! the amount of rain poured on Amman (and the rest of Jordan) was enormous, it actually flooded the streets of Amman!
The drainage on the streets couldn't handle it.
Roads were blocked, tunnels were shut down, and was really much better to just stay at home, or Not!
Houses down some valleys were actually drowned, and their inhabitants had to leave!

Two days after, that's today and tomorrow, Snow came.
Every body thought it will melt due to the amount of water on the streets, but the amount of snow was also enormous, it actually piled every where.

But all these special conditions were not the only special thing to see during this winter.
It was the sense of humor that was triggered by these conditions, especially the rain.

I compiled some of the pictures that were shared on social media (I can't compile them all, they are too many of course):

Something we can't live without.

I stumbled upon three funny pictures of different clocks that looked interesting and sharable:

Remember our first ever post on this Blog??

Food Fun Part Three: Melons!

Yes I know summer is over long time ago, but Melons are so much fun, you wish they were available all year long!

After parts One and Two of Food fun posts, this the third post.

Here I'm going to show some samples of fun done with water,and sugar melons, mostly with Water Melons of course.

I was amazed when I looked at some of these pictures, they show that there is a lot of effort and taste invested in them.

Such a pretty lady, so sweet as a melon :)

Recognize the mobile game?
It was one of the most successful mobile games ever!
It would fit better on an open buffet of "Ninja Fruit" fans.

How long it took the artist to finish this? Water Melons don't last that long outside the fridge, right? You have to eat this angry face to know that it's "Sweet" :)

Alright! here is another popular Mobile Game.
I'm sure you all played Angry Birds! I love them.
This is a creative way to enjoy them with a melon (I don't know what the pigs are made from :D )

This is a beautifully made Owl ! Made with two types of melons and some other vegetables.
Looks like it's so Real!

And what better way to conclude this post than with some "Love"!

Next summer, serve this sweet water melon dish to your sweet heart.
And if you live in a country where you can still find Water Melons in the market, don't wait! Go ahead and serve it to them!

Food Fun Part Two: Eggs And Chicken

I hope you enjoyed Part one of this Food Fun Posts.

In this second post, we are going to talk about more food fun, this time it's Eggs and Chicken!

Ever since I was a child I was fond of white meat, and chicken more than any other kind!

I always loved omelets for breakfast, but you won't see that in this post.

Here are some of the pictures showing how people can have fun cooking Chicken and/ or Eggs:

Nice faces don't you think? Good to make kids love their breakfast :)

A good way to serve breakfast to your beloved one after a romantic night ;)

Don't worry, your eggs didn't hatch!

But I don't think you should serve this to kids, they might freak out, the faces above are a better idea.

I remember it was a lady who was having fun when she cooked these two chicks.

Who doesn't like Cup cakes, or cakes in general?
I just adore them!

The increasing number of Cake artists in my City Amman, actually added more fun to my cravings for these yummy sweets.

(Here is one of my favorite shops : zCakeShop ).

Here are two samples of Cup Cakes that I would like to taste with my next cup of coffee (Note that I don't know which shop made these, but I'm sure for cake artists it's a piece of cake!).

A Heroic Free Fall

I'm sure many of you watched the amazing Felix Baumgartner take his free fall from out of space (that more than a 38000 m high).

Some kept repeating "I will not pull that off even if they pay me a million dollars!"

The other kept dialing all his friends' numbers telling them to turn on the TV, and which TV channel to switch to so that they can see "a guy who is going to jump from outer space", and that "No! I will not do it no matter how much they pay me!".

And then When Felix opened the capsule's door, you could just hear people describing what he's doing ; "Look, he just opened capsule's door!" and "look, he just stepped out of the capsule!".

And when he jumped, I could here girls inside and outside the house screaming!

It was heroic what Felix did, no doubt about it.

His fall is to serve science, in fact, I just heard on the radio today that there will be new laws in Physics after the studies made with the help of his fall.

Felix broke three records yesterday, I was kind of disappointed that he didn't break the "Longest Free Fall" record, he would have had a Full house of records breaking.

But still, three records broke is a lot.

Back To Future

"Back To Future" was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid.

actually, it was the first movie I ever watched in a theater!

It was fun, funny, and really amusing, I enjoy watching it till today.

Today I came across a couple of pictures of part 2 showing the day set for Marty (Michael J Fox) to reach the future, and it was actually yesterday!

I wonder of anybody ever made a special event out of yesterday?

Like a reception party for Marty somewhere?

I believe something should have been done, especially by fan clubs of the movie.

The new face of Kinder Chocolate

In the middle east there is a competition to choose a child to be the next face on the Kinder chocolate packs (since it's a kid's favorite).

The company in its commercial breaks is asking mothers to send pictures of their children to a certain website, where the company will gather them all, and choose the next face for their chocolate packs.

Someone decided to make fun of the campaign, so he stuck this chocolate face on the pack!

Actually, what better face for a chocolate pack than this sweet chocolate face!

I know that Mother's day passed a month ago.

And I did publish a post then ( it was called "Happy Mother's Day" ).

I stumbled upon the image below, and the first thing that came into my mind is that this is a smart use of Photoshop!

After gazing at it for a while, and reading what was written, turned out that this picture is real!

And it is not a new kind of bird that has ten legs, it is actually a mother protecting its kids from the cold!

The extra legs you see are her kids' legs, they're hiding under their mother, searching for warmth.

Indeed, looking at this picture just keeps reminding me how motherhood just keeps surprising us, and no limits to that!

Nothing like a full moon!

Don't get me wrong I'm not a ware-wolf of something.

It's just that a full moon in a dark night on a Caribbean beach, just ignites the romantic side of me!

Actually, a full moon any where, even in a desert, has a soothing emotional effect.

When the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie that's love !

I've always received pictures from my friends showing them playing as of they're grabbing the Eiffel tower, or leaning over the Taj Mahal, all look so amusing.

Sounds like a name of a country that you didn't know about?

Not exactly, Okapia is actually a name of an animal that I didn't know about!

It has a head of a giraffe, a body of a horse, and stripes like a zebra!

Plus of course a long blue tongue that can reach its ears!

There are only 15000 Okapias left today, mostly living in Kongo Africa.

The Okapia are rather shy, that's why it is difficult to spot it in the jungles.
