&lt;br /&gt;
To utilize the benefits of a UPS, it must be installed and configured properly.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;The power cord from the UPS is plugged into a grounded electrical outlet on the wall.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp; &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;The computer power cord is then plugged into the UPS.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;From the UPS, there is then a USB or Serial cable that plugs into the appropriate port on the computer.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;b&gt;The Windows Operating System or the APC UPS PowerChute software is then installed and configured to recognize the APC UPS.&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp; &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;Without the proper cabling and software configuration, the UPS is transformed into a large power strip without the capability to protect the computer from an electrical event.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Following are settings that should be changed in the APC UPS PowerChute software to prevent audible alerts that can be distracting as well to insure the stability of the UPS.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After installing the APC UPS PowerChute software, please perform the following steps:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ol style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;li&gt;Double-click the APC UPS PowerChute icon in the System Tray (lower right-hand corner).&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Uncheck Enable Powerchute notification sounds.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Click Apply.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Notification.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Disable battery backup alarms at all times.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Apply.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Sensitivity.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Low.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Apply.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
To resolve this issue, please perform the following steps:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ol style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;li&gt;Click Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows Components.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Uncheck Microsoft Outlook Express.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Next.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Finish.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Add/Remove Windows Components.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Check Microsoft Outlook Express.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Next.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Click Finish.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Installs fake antivirus application.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prompts for credit card number.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Takes control of Windows GUI.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prevents execution of any application ending in EXE.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prevents System Restore.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Removal of Win 7 Security 2012 is actually quite simple.&amp;nbsp; Following are the steps:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ol style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;li&gt; Reboot.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Hit F8 repeatedly.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Select Safe Mode and hit Enter.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and End Task on any three-letter application.&amp;nbsp; Example: tpq.exe&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Quickly browse to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Delete any three-letter applications in this directory.&amp;nbsp; Example: tpq.exe.&amp;nbsp; You must act quickly in order to delete the three-letter application as the system will attempt to re-open the application which prevents its deletion.&amp;nbsp; If you have not moved quickly enough, simply perform End Task again and then immediately delete the application.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Install Ccleaner.&amp;nbsp; Run Ccleaner.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Browse to C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Copy mbam.exe.&amp;nbsp; Paste mbam.exe.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Rename Copy of mbam.exe to Copy of mbam.com.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.&amp;nbsp; Remove all found instances of malware.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;ol style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;li&gt;The first computer is called Server.&amp;nbsp; On Server, create a user account entitled MSNET with Administrator permissions.&amp;nbsp; Give this user account a password of password.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;On Server, right-mouse click the drive or folder that you wish to share.&amp;nbsp; Click the Share tab.&amp;nbsp; Share this resource with the user account MSNET and give this user Full Control.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Reboot Server.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;On Client, browse to the All Users StartUp folder.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;b&gt;Windows Vista/Windows 7 All Users StartUp Location (Hidden Folder)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

NOTE: This example is not intended to be highly secure.&amp;nbsp; Please also note that this configuration is dependent upon maintaining the user account MSNET on Server with the password of password.&amp;nbsp; If the MSNET user account is deleted on Server or the MSNET password is changed, the S Drive will no longer be acccessible on Client.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;Click Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Stop the Windows Management Instrumentation Service.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Stop the Security Center Service.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Delete the sub-directory entitled REPOSITORY in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WBEM.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Reboot.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;This issue has now been resolved. &lt;br /&gt;
