"Did You Know........?"

Classes have started, and, so far, a lot of them are really great and have REALLY made me think about a lot of stuff (whether I've wanted to or not :D). Here's one video from one of my classes in particular. It's from my Survey of Pop Culture class over in the Comm School (I'm a CTV Major- Cinema Television), and man, oh man........ let's just say that a lot of the stuff really made me think, in particular to all that is going on out there in the world, all of the information, what new and amazing things are being created/invented today, of WHERE it's all goin', and of what we, as Christians, are charged to do with it............. as in not running from it.

True Love........ and Love at First Sight

A friend of mine was talking about how he and a friend saw something on television the other day , where these two people were doing something with this online dating service, and one of the ads were talking about "love at first sight". They both disagreed with it, saying that neither of them believed in such, and that there could be "attraction" at first first sight, but definitely not love. He then went on to say just and how much of this skewed view he saw in our culture today, especially in the lives of our youth (with older folks NOT excluded....)

I was thinking about it for a minute, and had absolutely no problem trying to figure out what I thought about it. I absolutely agreed. It had actually been quite a long and deep issue in my own heart for people for a while now.

I have TOO many times seen this sad philosophy and attitude in people, and have absolutely felt horrible for them as I watch them make and BASE life long relationships and major decision in life solely upon the fact of being "in love at first sight", only to find themselves horribly crashing later because of it. They had no REAL foundation. The only thing that had even motivated them toward or KEPT them in the relationship was a sense of mutual physical attraction, a somewhat and very much shallow sense of self gratification (them being in the relationship basically because of the fact that they get something from it, not necessarily because they're giving something back....). It's sad. And when the gratification runs out, so does the relationship. There was nothing really solid to stick around for anyway.

Then my friend continued to make another good point. He basically stated that, how,if you hadn't had the chance to act out the basic attributes of love, could you say that you are in love with this person? I 100% agreed with this. You need to have been around and have gotten to know someone for a while before you can really say that you "love" them. Why? Because you HAVE TO have the chance to forgive them, to be patient with them, to care for them, and even in the fact of us being Christians, pray for, exhort, and encourage them...... Then, only then, can you even BEGIN to love them with any kind of true love, and strive to imitate that most amazing and life-giving of loves, God's Unconditional Love. The best thing about that is, that, if we ask Him, God is totally there to help us to do so, to give this kind of love, because He already knows that we can't do it on our own, and because He also wants to give us the most amazing and life-filling relationships we could have ever asked for or imagined.

Anything else, based on anything else, is, I'm so sorry to say, just so sadly doomed for destruction.... and it IS a sad, sad fact. It's why the world is where it is today, most of it trying to live off of some sort of counterfeit love in anyway that they can, because, as the song says, at the end of the day, it really is "all about love".

So, yeah, No.......... I don't believe in "love" at first sight. Lust, yes, but love, no. Selfishness yes, but love no. "Warm-tingles" even, yes, but love, no. Love can only come once you've actually had the chance to love someone.

Just a few thought cookin' up in the kitchen right now...........

It's been a long, long, time.......

Hey Guys, it's me again :)

I haven't written in a while, I know, the whole world has seemed to change in such a short time. The last time I think I wrote was back in May, right before my b-day, and wow, just since that ime, how much has changed. So many life changing events, so many life changing experiences, people, places, thoughts, and things.......

But where in the world do I start? How do I begin to tell of what all these things have been, and what they have meant in my life? How do I express just how whole worlds of thought have been changed in my own heart and mind in regards to almost every area of life you could think of, people, places, and even things? It feels as if this area has always been such a struggle for me, to express just and how either amazing, life-altering, or impacting something has been to me, whether good or bad. And it sometimes doesn't feel as if words are always enough.

But I've decided that that shouldn't stop me from giving it a try anyway, right? Haha, Right. :)

So here I go, giving this writing thing another chance, and hopefully falling in love with where it takes me :)

But there's just way too much stuff to talk about for just one blog, so much has happened since my last one. So I guess I'll just "sum-up" or give a small preview........ So far, since May:

-I've turned 21 yrs. old

-Finally switched my major to the one God's called me to, and that I love :)

-Seen the Lord confirm His love and heart in me for the revival and salvation of the people of Europe

- Seen Him develop this overwhelming and deep love for the Muslim people and thier salvation

-Been to Bradford, England, the Muslim Capital of England, and had the life-changing experience and opportunity of having God use me to minister to both.... as well as of being ministered to.

-Started and gained so many amazing and new relationships and friendships right here back home, with the people that I left, all of which God has shown me have been for His purpose not only for today, but for where He's taking me in the future as well.

-Seen Him perform miraculous spiritual and relational Surgery, and turn people who I had once considered my enemies into miraculous friends

-Seen specific fullfillment of the promises He's promised me over the course of my life actually start to come to pass..... in amazing, "only God could have done" ways

-Havee had to say good-bye to a few dear and very close friends, trusting them in God's arms.....

-Seen God take the un-loveliness that is me and make me into something amazing, once again giving me a hope for the furture, HIS future, and seen Him set my life ablaze and on fire for Him and His heart, in ways that I never even knew I could be..... I've tasted of His revival, and I love the fact that I never want to be the same ever again :)

And that's just barely scratching the surface, just to name a few, all of which happening over a short period of just 3 months. Ha, I've been learning, that, when God wants to do something quickly in you and through you, He'll do a quick job of getting you prepped and in shape for it. If you let Him, that is :)

So hopefully, over the course of time, I'll finally be able to share about each of these, the amazingness of them all, the significance of each situation, and hopefully in a way that words are more than enough...... they're just right :)

Idk, I guess that's just what's swimming up in my head right now. More to come, I'm sure ;)

Bitter-sweet Wonderfullness......

Guess what folks? It's MAY! And that means...... Schools Out! Yay! Whew, we did it, and now, we finally get to take that REAL deep breath, and get some summer relaxation in after such a hard job well done.

Ha, yeah, and I'm so excited :)

But a little sad too :(

You see, things like this (end of school, summer break, saying good-bye to all of our dear sweet graduates....), are always just a little bitter sweet for me, a hinge of sadness mixed in with a whole world of joy. Ha ha, my friends laugh and tease me about how sentimental I am, and well........ they're right :) Yeah, I'm a sucker for these things ;)

Now, don't get me wrong, I do NOT in anyway, shape, or form miss anything about the homework! Ha, I'd be just fine if I never had to do homework for the rest of my LIFE! Trust me.

No, it's all of the other things that I will miss. Like all of the amazing people and fun times that God was so amazing enough to bless me with throughout the year, all of the awesome faces, lessons and occasional life-changing teachers who rocked your world, that were gained through all of it. Not to mention all of the amazing comradory built between all of those amazing friends, who, despite how hard it all was at times, decided to stick-it-out, and became nothing but those even MORE awesome amazing friends in the end (Ha ha, yeah, all-nighters RULE....) :D Ah, what awesome memories. Good times My Friends, good times indeed :)

All in all, it was a really good year, and I know I've really been blessed. And I can't wait for the new one to come :) It's gonna Rule. But, if you don't mind, I think I'll take my Summer first......... ;D

Thank you Lord for such a great year, so many awesome people, so many awsome lessons, so much to love. And thanks for actually giving me amazing people that I love enough to miss, it's so awesome :)

And, oh, P.S.......

... And bless all of the fun "Party-Hardy-ing" we'll be doing this SUMMER! Ha ha ha, AMEN!

Omg....... I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MONTH OF MAY!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!! It's gonna be SO awesome, I can't stand it, I can hardly WAIT!

And why, do you ask, am I so excited about this fabulous month? Well, only because some of the most amazing stuff is about to happen during it. What stuff? Phenominal, earthshattering, cosmically-ASTOUNDING, and mayby even life changing stuff......... haha, yeah, it's that serious.....

Wanna know?

Hee hee hee, well here it is! I call it "The Three Top Reasons Why May 2007 Is the Best Month EVER" :

1. Number one: THREE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF THE YEAR ARE COMING OUT!!!! YEA!

Haha, yeah people, that's right, you heard me right, three of my most favorite movies in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD have thier fabulous sequals debuting during this month. I can't wait!!! (And yes, to clarify, in reference to my opening paragraph, I DO consider movies to be a life changing event ........... (lol!). Hey, What can I say, I'm a film major......... :D).

And the three movies destined to change my life? (Drum roll please........)

Haha, y'all had better make room down front, cuz' Mo Mo is officially moving to the theater! Woot Hoo! :D

2. Secondly, BUSCH GARDENS OPENS!!!!!! OH YEA!!!!!! Yep People, I don't know about you, but I am lookin' forward to some serious COASTER RIDIN'! I can't wait, the Griffin opens-up this summer, and I'm gonna ride it till I can't anymore. I'm ready to just grab a boat-load of some of my awesomests friends and go Gardens Wild :D !

3. And thirdly, last but CERTAINLY not least............

Ha ha ha, yeah, that's right People, Mo Mo finally turns the big 2-1! It's gonna be awesome, I'm pretty well EXCITED :D God has done so many awesome and amazing things in my life, His love alone has just been a miracle in me. And I can't wait to celebrate one of the most important birthdays of my life with some of the most amazing family and friends a girl could ever ask for. Just looking back on all that God's done, becoming grateful for it all over again, simply loving the fact of 21 years, and dedicating it back to Him for 21 more :D

(*Sigh!*).......awesome :)

So if ya see me around on that Ever-And-So Beloved Day of May 27, 2007, be sure to say "Hey!", and ask me where the party's at, 'cuz we're gonna BOOGIE!!!!!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha!

So there are my Three main reasons of why I'm so in love with the month of May! How could you not? Hottness movies, crazy coasters, and amazing birthdays, what else could a girl ask for? Ha ha, well, at this moment anyways.......... ;D

Life on Break ;)

My dear people, can you feel that?

.....Ahhhhhh, YESSSSSSSSS………

It’s officially Spring Break, and that’s the feeling of actually being able to breathe IN and OUT once again……

And the first order of business on my agenda? To end all world hunger? To replenish the ozone? To single-handedly end the war in Israel and promote World Peace? Ha ha, nope, nope, nope, and nope. As noble as those all are, during this most holy of Spring Breaks, I seem to have found an even higher calling. A calling most noble, most daring and true, and dare I say it, more daunting than all the rest…….

The Divine Calling to Clean my Room.

Ha ha ha, yeah, I know, I know, you're like "What?..........."
But because of finals, I haven’t even been able to touch it in like two straight WEEKS…... You see, I’m in the animation program, and when we say finals, we mean FINALS! As in pouring your heart and soul into the creation of many and various animated projects and pieces, for many, many, many countless and sleepless nights. But by time it’s all said and done, you take a sweet final look, and it’s totally worth it, and you find yourself falling in love with the profession all over again :)

But needless to say, that doesn’t leave much time for those “ever-and-so important” household goodies, such as cleaning my room, and right now mine just looks like an absolute WAR-ZONE……. It’s nuts! But that’s not the only thing I'll be tackleling this break. Oh no, no no no. I also intend to be moved in the power of the Holy Spirit and finally Lay Hands on my LAUNDRY........ (Ha ha ha!). I don’t know about all of you , but I’m just looking forward to having that sweet “Downy Freshness” of my clothing back again (that, and the fact that I'm really tired of having to play the “Smell and Guess which Sock is Clean” game..... he he he….)
........ And my nose REJOICES :)

But don’t worry folks, this break shan’t be filled with just chores and no more, oh no, no, no, no, no………. You see, that's just to get it all out of the way at the beginning, so that I can truly and genuinely be able to enjoy the rest of the time just for me……… Ha ha, YES! Monique Time! Yep, God and I are going on a little vacation, and when we get back, I hope to have received a wonderful refreshing from the Lord, and an amazing new vision for the new Session. Amazing things are about to happen People, I can just feel it! And I just so and completely want to be ready for it.

So later folks, and Ta-Ta for now, I gotta go and immerse myself in the fact that it’s actually Monday evening, and I don’t have not ONE class or assignment to go to or due………

WOOHOO!!! YES! Ha ha, Spring Break, Here I come!

Hey Hey Hey!

Hey Guys! My name is Monique Coleman, and I'm a digital Animation and Production major here at Regent. God has really given me a heart of fire for the film industry at large, and I absolutely love it with a passion, live action in particular. My heart is to see filmed restored and used for His Glory, in a way that is RELEVANT to everyday and real people's lives and shows them the real hope that is Christ, instead of being horribly cheesy and turning them off. It's such a powerful tool, lets not waste it people. There is definitely a difference between a christian movie and a christian who makes movies. And I plan, by His grace, to be that difference. This is my second year here at the school, and my plan is to hopefully graduate by Dec. 2008, and to actually start to see that happen. But for the time that I'm here, definitely plan to glean and learn all I can that will strengthen me for the industry later. I so can't wait, it's so EXCITING!!!

On another note, I also have been blessed with the amazing honor of being one of the two Communication Reps serving on the Regent Undergraduate Council (RUC). So for all of you Communications students out there, if you ever need anything, need to voice an opinion, or just have a question, please feel free to contact me, we listen! We want the undergrad experience to become a downright amazing one, and way too much goes by when people are quiet. So don't be afraid to shout it out! Feel free to shoot me an email anytime at monicol@regent.edu. I already have the privilege of knowing a lot of you, and for those I don't, I definitely want the chance to change that and get to. Sound good? Great! :D

So can I just start of by saying that it's SPRING BREAK!?!?!?!!!!! WAHOOOOOO!!!!!! YESSSSSSSS!!! School work is over baby, and Spring Break is HERE!!!!! YEAH! Oh man, wow, can you tell that I'm so and completely excited? I was so ready for this, it was so time, and the fact that we don't have any homework and actually get to rest in between classes makes it ten times even better. I absolutely love the fact of having absolutely NOTHING to do...... Woohoo!

So see you all later, I gotta go soak up some of this AMAZING weather, and not have a care in the WORLD! Ha ha!
