77 dead in Bastille Day terror attack in Nice,France

At least 77 people have been killed and more than 50 injured after a truck mowed down crowds for more than a mile before the driver got out and sprayed crowds with bullets in a terror attack during the Bastille Day celebrations in the French city of Nice.

The truck driver was said to have shouted 'Allahu Akbar' — God is greatest — before being shot dead by police. Pro-ISIS groups have been celebrating the attack.

Guns and grenades were later found inside the truck, which mounted the pavement at approximately 40mph and steered directly towards hundreds of people watching a fireworks display.

Addressing the nation, French President Francois Hollande said several children were among the dead. He said it was 'undeniable' the massacre was a terrorist attack.He said there were 77 victims dead, including children with a further 20 people wounded.

Identity documents belonging to a 31-year-old French Tunisian were found in the truck according to security sources.

DSS arrests Obanikoro’s wife over alleged N4.745b arms fraud

Security agents yesterday arrested Hajiya Morufat Obanikoro, former Minister of Defence Musiliu Obanikoro’s wife.

Mrs. Obanikoro was picked up over the ongoing investigation of her husband, who is wanted for questioning over the N4.745billion slush funds from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The funds were reportedly traced to Obanikoro, Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, former Osun State Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore and three companies with links to Omisore.

According to the Nation,Mrs. Obanikoro, who was transffered by the DSS to the EFCC, was later released by the anti-graft agency after a bail. Her international passport was impounded. Sources said her bail is with the condition of surety support of a landed property owner in Lagos. She was requested to return on Monday for interrogation.

Another source spoke of excitement about Mrs. Obanikoro’s arrest because “some of the funds under investigation were wired into her company, which is called MOB.

“She needs to explain to this commission what job she did to deserve such remittance into her account,” the source said.

Wanted Boko haram member caught hiding in container in Lagos church premises

Six of the 100 suspected Boko Haram members declared wanted by the army have been arrested in Lagos. Ibrahim Ali, Abubakar Ahmed, Goigoi Kamsalem, Ibrahim Mohammed, Banagana Blam Ali and Adam were arrested last Friday by vigilantes.

The Seriki Hausawa in Ijora, Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed, said Adam was arrested inside a 40-foot container in an abandoned container inside a church in Festac Town.

Mohammed, who heads the vigilance group, known as the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), said Ali and Blam were arrested during a raid of suspected terrorists’ hideout at Isheri; Ahmed, Kamsalem and Mohammed were nabbed on Victoria Island, where they were staying with friends.

Mohammed said the suspects have been transferred to Borno State, where they are wanted by the military, adding that they looked unkempt and hungry when they were arrested.

He said: “We got an intelligence report that Adam was hiding inside an abandoned 40-foot container on a church premises .It was the security man attached to the church that hid him inside the container. When we arrived on the church premises, we headed straight to where the container was kept. The security man attached to the church was not around then. The container was locked from the outside with a padlock. The pastor of the church was embarrassed to see us, but by the time we explained our mission to him, he along with others stood aside to see and by the time we broke the padlock, Adam was hiding in the far corner of the container. As soon as the pastor sighted the suspect, he started singing praises.”Mohammed said his group would protect Lagos from the Boko Haram menace.

He said his group started operation in the state in 2011, adding that Boko Haram would have hit some strategic installations and buildings, if not for the vigilantes.

Those arrested in the past by his group, he said, were handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) in Shangisha, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone two or the police commissioner.

“You know we are from Borno State where these people also come from and we know their communities. Our people back home do monitor them, and once they leave Maiduguri, we would be alerted so that we can be on the lookout.

“Once they arrive in any community in Lagos, our members are always on ground to fish them out based on intelligence report and once they are arrested, we hand them over to security agencies for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.The Nation

Wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the General Overseer of RCCG, Mrs Adeboye, and the Bwari Area Council Chairman, Musa Dikko visited the family of Late Mrs Eunice Olawale was murdered at about 5:30a.m. on Saturday, as she went for early morning preaching (Morning Cry) close to her residence.

Her throat was slit, with her head rested on the bible she used for preaching. When they came back, they told me that they heard some footballers saying that some hoodlums had butchered a woman who was preaching early this morning. ‘I found my wife lifeless in a police van’

“We hurried down in the shorts I was putting on but did not see anybody. However, we saw blood on the ground. I asked a policeman around and he said it was true but that they had taken her to Phase 4 Police Station. “I went to the station with my children and when we got there, I saw the lifeless body of my wife at the back of the police van and from there, she was taken to the mortuary. The incident happened between 5and 5:30a.m. because she usually goes out at 5a.m. and comes back 6a.m.” The deceased, according to her husband, was born on July 23, 1974. They got married in July, 2000. On whether the deceased, who was into property, had any disagreement with anybody, the husband said:

“She had no problem with anybody and there was no property to sell at hand. She didn’t have anything with anybody.”He said that the Command Officer in Kubwa had visited the house and promised to come back for condolence, adding “they came with the Chairman of Bwari Area Council.

“Even the DPO called me in the morning and asked me to come to their station to make a report. I called my senior pastors, who said I shouldn’t go, wondering why he expects me, with the emotional trauma, to come there.” Miscreants in charge

Meanwhile, it was gathered that about 10a.m. yesterday, some of the miscreants living in shanties built in front of the Fresh Fire Parish Gbazango were packing their belongings and fleeing. Some members of the church complained that they were always terrorised by the boys within the Gbazango area up to Omega Paint Street opposite Total Filing Station and its environs by miscreants who live in shanties. Church members said that the boys always spread their mats in front of the church to sleep and do their ablution, which had forced the church not to carry out their Tuesday, Thursday mid-week service.

“They have provoked us to take action, but we have remained calm,” one of them stated, adding that that they called the police to tell them the miscreants, who they said were mainly Hausa/Fulani, were running away, but the police did nothing.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command said it has arrested some suspects in connection with the murder of the 42-year-old preacher. Spokesperson of the Command, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Alkali Usman, had directed the homicide section to take over the investigation. He said:

“We have made some arrests and they are helping in our investigation. The commissioner of police has ordered the homicide section of the command to take over the investigation of the case.” The spokesman, however, did not mention the number of suspects arrested. He said that personnel of the command had visited the scene of the incident and investigation had commenced in earnest.

Veteran actress Zainab Bukky Ajayi who died at 82 on Wednesday, July 6, had breast cancer, hypertension and diabetes, her sons revealed in exclusive chats with Vanguard newspaper.

On Wednesday, July 6, Ma Bukky Ajayi passed on.As a Muslim, she was buried the same day she died. The actress converted to Islam in 1965 and adopted the name ‘Zainab’.

Despite being in the public glare, she ensured her private life remained private. Many of my friends didn’t know I was the daughter of the popular actress. People relate with me as Raz CPT and not the daughter of a celebrity, so to say. Mummy has been struggling with her health, she had cancer of the breast, diabetic and was also hypertensive.”

Kunle Fawole, popularly known as Abounce and the last child of the family spoke about her last moments.

“I and mama were in the living room with some of my friends when I noticed that her heart wasn’t moving, I mean like she stopped breathing. Immediately, I checked her pulse and called my elder brothers. We felt her pulse and heartbeat, did everything possible. But alas, she has passed on. And that was at about 11:23 am on Wednesday. She was a bit ill before this happened. She had been ill for a number of years now. She had stroke some couple of years back. There was a time she also had cerebral malaria. She became diabetic, hypertensive and also suffered breast cancer before now”, he explained mournfully.

Mr Alfred Oluwole Shoga was Bukky Ajayi’s first son, a 60-year old man said they were shocked but thankful they are alive to bury her and not her witnessing their deaths.

“At 60, my mother still gives me money each time I visit her and I will say, `Mum I’m suppose to give you money’ and she will say I should use it for transportation” he said, speaking as if she were still alive.

Woman tortures, blinds 12-year-old house help in Lagos

A woman identified only as Gloria has blinded one of the eyes of her 12-year-old houseboy identified as Peter in following brutal and frequent torture.

Gloria had employed Peter who is from Togo to work as her housemaid at 14b, Olu Akerele Street, Balogun Bus Stop off Awolowo Way, Ikeja area of Lagos State but the minor had been suffering severe beating in the hands of the woman, the New Telegraph reports.

Reports say the last straw which broke the camel’s back was when Gloria returned from an outing and realised Peter did not wash a kettle properly.She was said to have descended on the boy and in the process, injured his eye.

Concerned residents said they could no longer withstand her cruelty so they reported the case to the police and the woman was arrested.

A resident who pleaded anonymity said the woman was well known for being violent and was avoided by everyone in the area.

During what seemed to be a peaceful protest against police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in Dallas, Texas about an hour ago, one of the protesters opened fire on Police officers. No eyewitness saw the shooter, they only said they heard gunshots and all ran away. An eyewitness Michael Bautista said he heard the shooting and ducked for cover. Another eyewitness said they heard about 12 to 20 gunshots and saw Police officers carry a wounded undercover Police officer into a van. Another eye witness said he saw a police officer with gunshot wounds to his shoulder sitting on the curb.

UPDATE: Dallas Area Rapid Transit say: 1 officer has been confirmed dead while 3 officers have non-life threatening injuries and are in various hospitals.

1 suspect has been 'neutrelised' while the 2nd one has been pinned down.

The shooter is suspected to have a rifle but they aren't sure. SWAT team were called and they are now surrounding a building they think the shooter or shooters are holed in. The condition of the officers are not known at the moment.

Two officers have been taken to 2 different hospitals for treatment.

The Police are supposedly trying to negotiate with a second shooter.

A youth pastor ,Raymond Vincent, 46 has been arrested for impregnating a 10 year old girl and fleeing to Haiti. Detectives were called to Broward Health Medical Center on Feb. 13 in reference to a sexual battery of a child. The girl was found to be pregnant after having been taken to the hospital with stomach pain, the inquisitr.com reports

A police report detailed one of Vincent's encounters with the girl sometime in December or January. The girl told police she was asleep on a couch and was awakened when she felt a hand going down her pants. As she opened her eyes, she saw Vincent hovering over her. He quickly pulled his hand from beneath the blanket, the report said.

He turned to another child sleeping on the couch and feigned adjusting that child's positioning, authorities said.

The girl who was inappropriately touched ran off and locked herself in a bedroom and alerted her mother, police say. Vincent has been charged with lewd and lascivious conduct in connection with that incident.

It was not immediately clear whether Vincent had sex with the girl before or after the encounter on the couch. Police would not divulge details on whether the girl's pregnancy, discovered in February, has been terminated.

In January 2012, Vincent was accused of molesting another child — under the age of 12 — after luring her into his home with food. The child told authorities he groped and fondled her and tried to pull her into his lap. She claimed Vincent had molested her twice before that incident.

During his interview with detectives at the time, Vincent mentioned he was a youth pastor at a church in Pompano Beach that he did not name.

DPO's Ear Chopped Off By Robbers

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Ajali in Orumba North Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State, in an attempt to arrest members of a notorious gang terrorizing Nanka Community, had one of his ears chopped off and was disrobed.The DPO and his team raided the den of the nine-man gang, and successfully arrested Mr. Ifedilichukwu Nwankwo, Mr. Chidi Nwankwo and Mr. Udoye Kenechukwu after previous attempts by the Police Force Criminal Investigations Department (Force CID), Abuja and Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia.

Amidst the parade of the gang members at the headquarters of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), police spokesperson Mr. Akwuzu Okechukwu stated that the DPO was ambushed, his clothes ripped to shreds, one of his ears chopped off. According to Mr. Okechukwu, the DPO is receiving treatment at a hospital.

The arrest is a big win for the police as the gang had been terrorizing Nanka for years. According to the Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), the gang has been linked to other attacks in the region. Their notoriety led to the police’s efforts to mobilize men to arrest the suspects at Nanka.

The gang's activities have also been linked to to the death of Mr. Okechukwu Udezuka of Orifite in Ekwusigo LGA and one Mr. Ebuka at Tarzan area of Nkpor, near Onitsha, on February 2, 2014. Confirming the allegations, the gang members confessed that Mr. Nwanwko and his gang killed the victims.
