I'm going to start to make posts of the past or just ramblings. I've been battling depression for quite some time, and I've notice that writing has helped me so much to combat it. I've seen different therapists and psychiatrists. I've also read books that were, pretty much, "how to deal with shit" and neither did anything for me. When I saw a therapist, I just felt like they didn't care and wanted their money. I haven't had much luck. One night, I just started writing...everything. I can't explain it, but I felt really good afterwards. I'm not going to post my personal experiences of certain things on here, but I want to post certain things that going through my mind at the moment. I don't have an official title for this, but I'll figure it out eventually.

I'm sitting here at my vanity, slowly finishing up my coffee, and I was just thinking how I miss going to comic book stores when I was a kid. This was at a time where anime and comics weren't considered necessarily cool yet. I was a huge fan of, almost, anything anime and Elvira at the time since both of them were very new to me when I was much younger. I would hang out at a comic book store called, "Funny Pages", about every other weekend. It was a place that I felt normal. This was also one of the very few places I could find anything anime and science fiction items. My biggest love, as you can see, is Sailor Moon! I'll make a separate post soon on how I feel about anime then and now. That's a whole other topic! Any who, I have wasted so much money at Funny Pages. This is barely a handful of what I've purchased with my lunch money. Yes, I would starve myself to buy comic books.

Not only I would collect anything Sailor Moon, but I was a huge fan, still am, of Elvira! I have several of her comics and I highly recommend them; campy, fun goodness. Her stuff was hard to find then as well since she wasn't as popular in the early millennia (such a weird time). Now, she's becoming popular, again, thankfully. I really would like to own some of the Kreepsville 666 merch!

Even if you're not into anime, but you love science fiction, I highly recommend Battle Angel Alita (or Gunnm in Japan). I can't remember how I discovered this, but it's such a great story. It's about a bounty hunter/doctor who find this head of a young, female cyborg, in a junk yard, and rebuilds her body and takes care of her. She has lost all of her memory except fighting and she becomes a bounty hunter as well. If you don't feel like reading the manga's, which there isn't many, watch the OVA on youtube. I would normally recommend purchasing it, but it's out of print! I'm hoping a company will re-release it on blu ray and re-dub it. The OVA was dubbed in the 90's, I believe, and it's alright. Give it a chance and check it out. Also! James Cameron is apparently a huge fan on the manga as well and wants to make it a live action film!!! However, he wants to finish Avatar first....meh. I'll probably be in my mid to late 40s when it's made. Oh well.

Anyway, I don't usually go to comic book shops as much as I used to anymore. It's not that I don't want to at all or because it's insanely popular. I'm actually glad to see it has become what it is. I can finally relate to people. It's just where it has gotten so expensive. Not only comics, but conventions! I could not tell you the last time I went to a sci-fi convention. I just don't make enough money to do that kind of stuff anymore. I'll stop by my local comic book shop now and then, but, sadly, not that much. I was reminiscing earlier how I use to go to comic book shops, conventions, and toy fairs....now it's just work, eat, sleep, and very little fun. Isn't it fun to be an adult?

One day, I'll have a good job where I can do that sort of stuff again. Until then, unpleasant dreams....?

Makeup: MAC Brooke Candy's Lipsticks in Mind Control & Which Witch

I remember reading an interview of Brooke Candy from some blog (I'm sorry, I don't remember the blog!) last year that she was doing two makeup collections with MAC! With this collection, she just did two lipsticks and I believe just one of MAC's liquid eyeliners in black. I just bought the two lipsticks since I actually don't wear much eyeliner anymore; I'm big on lipsticks at the moment. Also, there was nothing special about the liquid eyeliner. MAC just took their liquid eyeliner and put it in Brooke Candy's packaging. Bleh. Any who, do I like these two lipsticks? Eh, I'm actually kind of disappointed. I'm a huge Brooke Candy fan, but these were just kind of meh. I'm hoping her second collection will stand out more (I don't know any information on the release date).

Mind Control is a pinky red lipstick with a hint of shimmer in it. It's a beautiful red, but that's it. I have several red lipsticks that are quite similar, so this doesn't really stand out to me. Nonetheless, a beautiful red!

Which Witch was the lipstick that stood out to me. It's a beautiful deep plum color. Unfortunately, this did not work for me whatsoever. Not because of the color, but the formula is awful! When I first applied this bad boy on, I absolutely loved it. Within an hour, it started to fade and patch up really bad. I didn't even eat or drink anything! Yes, I do exfoliate my lips. It just started looking patchy and re applying it made it worse. Which sucks since I love the color! I let my friend use it for a day to see if it was just me, but she said it did the exact same thing! It's odd since I didn't have any issues with Mind Control.

I wanted Which Witch to work for me, but something about the formula didn't work. At least it wasn't a big waste of money since Mind Control worked great for me. I hope whenever her new collection comes out, it'll be outlandish, trashy and amazing. I'm still looking forward to it.

Makeup: Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in Private Boudoir

I guess blue lipstick is a trend now! Which is awesome since it's easier to find. I really do like Sephora's lipsticks. They're underrated and not at a bad price of $12.50. Unfortunately, that's really the only 'odd' color they have in their new range of colors, but it's a start!

It's a beautiful deep blue/purple lipstick. This lipstick is part of their cream line which is more of a satin finish with a wee bit of shine. With my experience, all of their lipsticks has never dried me out. I would say I wouldn't have to touch this bad boy up until around the fifth or sixth hour which is pretty damn good. When I do eat however, it does rub off a bit, but not too shabby! Mostly wears off on the center of my lip.

Would I pick these over their new Gloss Balms? Most likely, but both of them paired together makes a beautiful lip look. Private Boudoir is gorgeous on it's own, but with Slick Pony Gloss Balm...YES.

I highly recommend their new lipstick shades. Again, they're underrated and Sephora's lipsticks are actually great quality. Definitely check them out!

Sephora has launched new lipstick and lip balm colors! I believe both were re-formulated, but I could be mistaken. I'm glad Sephora has finally released some unique colors. These two stood out to me the most. It was very tricky to take clear pictures of these lip balms, so I apologize if these are a hit or miss. I guess that's with the rest of my blog any how. I don't own a nice ass camera or anything like that. Maybe one day, I will. Oh well. On with the show!

I absolutely love these lip balms! As you can see, these are definitely more sheer which is fine for me. This is good if you want a more 'natural' look for that day; I consider these colors natural, at least. Also, if you're afraid to wear darker colors, then this would be perfect for you! It won't be as prominent.

The name, Slick Pony, just cracks me up. It just sounds like a cool sex toy. It's like an insanely huge, black dildo with a shit ton of rainbow glitter. YES.

Slick Pony shows up more like a grayish black with pink glitter and Peek-a-Blue is a sheer gray blue with blue sparkles.

These balms are not sticky whatsoever. Very hydrating and nourishing. Any of these Gloss Balms would be great over a lipstick to add some oomph to your look. Of course, these are just lip balms, so they are not long wearing whatsoever. However, these Gloss Balms are great to touch up with your favorite liquid lipstick!

I really like these. I will definitely buy more since they're only $10! Well, compared to other lip balms that are more pricey at Sephora. There is one color that throws me off which is a yellow Gloss Balm. I've notice yellow lip glosses are becoming a thing. Why? My teeth are already yellow as it is where I'm addicted to coffee! Wouldn't that make it worse? Please tell me why.

Skin Care: Skin Script's 15% Vitamin C/Green Tea Serum with Vitamin C, CoQ10, and Peptides

Apparently, my Skin Script's Glycolic Cleanser review was a highly viewed page. Probably because there's not a lot of reviews on the Skin Script line in general. However, looking back on the review...those pictures were awful! Even though these might be a slight improvement. Oh well, live and learn. I still use that cleanser on occasion. Any who, I've actually been using this serum for about, at least, a year and a half. It's an excellent serum. A couple downsides, but nothing major. I wanted to review this since, again, I can rarely find reviews on this skin care line. If you're curious about this serum, then keep reading!

*I marked certain descriptions in bold just in case anyone did not know what the specific ingredients were.

Since I'm a licensed Aesthetician, I'm able to purchase the "back bar" size which saves me a wee bit of money. However, even if you don't have a skin care license, the retail size (which is 1 oz), is usually around $36 to $40. It depends how much your local day spa charges for the product. To me, that's an excellent price for 15% vitamin c serum! Normally, they're around $80 to $200 which is insane. I never understood why vitamin c serums has to be that expensive. Especially since most of the high end serums tend to be in droppers and the product don't last as long.

What's great about this product is the ingredients. This serum contains three different forms of vitamin c; L-ascorbic Acid, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, and Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate. I love this since ascorbic acid on it's own, regardless of brand, tends to be drying for me. Of course, this serum contains several different antioxidants and three different peptides; Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Acetyl Octapeptide-3, and Copper Tripeptide-1. I wouldn't consider this product to be 100% natural. Which is actually a good thing. I prefer skin care products to be mixed with nature and science. Most natural/organic skin care lines do not last as long without some sort of synthetic preservative. The ingredient list really impressed me when I discovered this line eons ago. There's only one ingredient I'm kind of iffy on though.

Lemon peel oil. I've read so many mixed things on this ingredient. Either it's too acidic for the skin or it's excellent for brightening and all that jazz. I, kind of, go back and forth on this. I can see why dermatologists are against this ingredient sense it tends to be considered photo sensitizing towards the skin. I mean, it's lemon. A very acidic fruit. It also my cause irritation if you have very sensitive skin. Luckily, this serum has worked very well for me. I can tell such a huge difference when I used it during the first month of using this serum. I really do like this, however, I wish they would take out lemon peel oil and replace it with, maybe, more antioxidants and/or peptides (the more, the merrier).

Also, like most vitamin c serums, this tends to leave a tacky feel. Nothing major, but I wish this serum has a little more emollient to it. Like the same texture of Skin Script's Ageless Hydrating Serum (which I'll review eventually). I usually layer the Ageless serum on top of the Vitamin C serum to give my skin a boost of moisture. They're both excellent serums, seriously.

Lastly, the serum is not in a dropper! I absolutely hate serums in droppers since, if you think about it, every time you dispense the product out, it's contaminated by air. So, your expensive vitamin c serum will not be as effective. However, with this guy, its in a pump; even the retail size. Which is nice.

Overall, I really do like this serum. I'm going to keep using since I have been seeing results. My freckles and old acne scarring have lightened up quite a bit since I've been using this product. There are some minor issues, however, I tend to look over them since this serum has worked great for me. I do highly recommend it. I would try to find a spa close to you to see if you can have any samples of Skin Script's line to try out. I recommend their serums and cleansers. I'm not too crazy about their moisturizers, personally.

Wild Medicine Bar Soaps

Doesn't this look amazing?! Probably the coolest bar soap I've ever seen. They have several different ones, but this one caught my eye. Of course, these are 100% natural and contains actual stones and crystals. These are suppose to be "healing", but, regardless, these soaps look pretty damn cool. You can order these bad ass soaps from their official website or from Beauty Habit. I like to order from Beauty Habit because you get three free samples with every order. You don't get to choose, unfortunately, but still cool nonetheless. These run for $22.

Skincare: French Girl Organic's Neroli Cleansing Wash

I've been checking out this cleanser on Beauty Habit's website forever. I've been digging charcoal cleansers recently, but the down side of any charcoal cleanser, (regardless if it's drug store or high end), is that every single one that I have tried have dried the living crap out of my skin! It would also aggravate me if it had actual charcoal bits in it as well. I didn't feel like that did absolutely nothing for my skin. Anyway, I decided to splurge on this one since it's actually a charcoal milk cleanser which intrigued me. I could not find any reviews on this whatsoever, so if you want to know my opinion, then keep reading!

Neroli Cleansing Wash

Ingredients: organic aloe vera, organic olive oil, organic rooibos tea, plant emulsifying wax, organic green and white tea extracts, organic black willow bark, vitamin e, hyaluronic acid, activated charcoal, citric acid, neroli and sea buckthorn organic oils, no sulfate plant derived cleansing agent, love and blessings.

This is my first product of trying any from the French Girls Organics skin care line! Again, this cleanser just intrigued me. It's something different and yet what I was looking for in a cleanser. I was looking for a good charcoal cleanser that doesn't dry out my skin and this Cleansing Wash does not at all. It's quite milky and hydrating and yet cleanses my skin very well, so, no, this does not foam at all which I like. I personally believe that charcoal does draw impurities out of the skin. Some people may find it gimmicky, but I can tell a difference regardless of brand. I also really like this cleanser with a konjac sponge!

Some of you may or may not like the scent. There are no artificial fragrance in it, however there's a very strong aroma of neroli and chamomile. Which doesn't bother me since I love me some essential oils, but I believe this should be okay for sensitive skin since neroli and chamomile are very calming and soothing, but I digress.

Only a couple minor downsides. It's pretty pricey for the ounces that you get. I obviously purchased the 2 oz, and this cost me $18. I don't mind paying around $20 for a cleanser, but 2 ounces is really...nothing! I purchased this about a month ago, and I'm already halfway there which kind of bums me out. They do sell a 4 oz on their Etsy page, but it is $32. Yikes. Sadly, their other skin care products are pretty tiny as well. *le sigh*

Also, I'm not crazy about the pump. Sometimes you have to press it down pretty hard to get any product out, but it's nothing major.

Overall, I really do like this cleanser. There are no annoying charcoal bits in it. Very milky and hydrating and several different antioxidants to boot. Would I repurchase? Maybe. One of those things if I had extra money to waste. Just because you don't get a lot for what you pay, so that's why I'm giving it 3 1/2 skulls. I know this brand is more considered a luxury organic line, but still. Probably the next thing I'll order from them is their Cafe Noir Body Polish!

Makeup: Rituel de Fille's Eye Soot, Lip Sheer, and Lipstick

I actually ordered these items quite some time ago (probably around November). I had a really good paycheck and I've been eyeing out their products for a while. I decided to splurge and I was quite disappointed. I wanted to love these so badly, but Rituel de Fille failed miserably for me. I decided to review them now since I was cleaning out my vanity and found them buried in the back of my, "least used", makeup drawer. If you want to know what I think about these, keep reading!

Rituel de Fille currently concocts lipsticks, cream blushes, and "eye soots". Earlier last fall, I remember digging the way the product line looked. I've read pretty decent reviews, so I obviously decided to purchase the three out of the four. What caught my eye were the Ash and Ember Eye Soots. They just seemed different! Powder and cream eye shadow in one? And the colors look gorgeous, so I decided on Sigil since I figured it would be a good base color to go with mostly everything. Also, this gorgeous looking Forbidden Lipstick called Chrysalis! I've been trying to find a really pretty forest green lipstick and I absolutely love the color. I also purchased on of their Lip Sheers in Blackthorn which is a pretty burgundy color.

Sigil

Let's talk about the Eye Soot I purchased first. This product could have, and should have, worked for me. This color is described as a shimmery, warm champagne gold with a hint of pink. Which I agree with. More so on the gold side though. You don't see much of the pink once you put in on your eye lid. Still pretty nonetheless. The problem with this product is the texture. It feels almost like a dried up cream shadow. You know when you had your cream eye shadow WAY longer than you should have and it has that feeling of a sponge? Kind of like that. However, I suppose it is accurate on the site. It's between a cream and a powder. Which sucks since it's a pain in the ass to get this product out of the container! No matter how many different eye shadow brushes I've used, it doesn't want to grab on the bristles...at all. It's very strange. The only way I can make this work is my ring finger!

Another major issue is the packaging. It's really cute, but the way the Eye Soot is made, it's not practical. It's pretty tiny, only 0.2 oz, but where it is a mix between a cream and a powder, it's a pain to get the product out! Especially if I can't use any of my eye shadow brushes! You can tell where I've made a little dent in the container trying to get some of it out, but it ends up just being spread around inside.

Blackthorn & Chrysalis

These two colors are absolutely beautiful. Especially Chrysalis! I wanted a forest green lipstick to work for me so badly. The problem is the formula...for both of them. When I first put them on, they are actually quite emollient (not as emollient compared to Bite). The Lip Sheer and the Lipstick feels like it would be hydrating, but they are very patchy. Especially Chrysalis. Within an hour, both of them start to separate and fade. I would have to keep reapplying throughout the day which made it worse since it would attract every single dry patch on my lips. Even when I used a lip scrub beforehand! I was hoping it would just be Chrysalis since it is tricky to formulate interesting colors, such a green, without being patchy and streaky. Nope. Blackthorn did the exact same damn thing.

Also, the smell. When I first opened both of tubes, I can smell a mix of lavender and a traditional lipstick which smells like crayons. You can tell they were trying to cover the smell of the waxes with lavender oil. Which I wouldn't have mind if the lipsticks wouldn't have sucked so hard! I wasted $44! Was not pleased at all.

They don't look too bad in the swatches, do they? Blackthorn looks slightly patchy when swatched, but the other two look okay. They feel nice. Too bad none of them executed well!

Overall, I'm very disappointed with this line. I wanted to love them so badly, but the quality isn't there...at all. Especially for the prices they charge, Rituel de Fille's line is pretty pricey! I wouldn't recommend this line at all. Maybe I just received a bad batch? Oh well. Not too sure what I will do with them. Throw them back in the draw and look for another forest green lipstick.

Skin Care: Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel

I don't have a good excuse why I haven't posted in a decade. All you need to know is, life kept getting in the way which made me lose interest blogging in general. Since everything is back to normal, for me, at least, I'm ready to jump back in!

Anyway, I received a sample of this exfoliating cleanser and I just don't get this product at all. I know what Boscia, and most other American and South Korean skin care companies are coping, which is the Cure Natural Aqua Gel. It's a very popular Japanese exfoliating cleanser which has a cult following today. I like the idea of this product. Especially for someone who has insane sensitive skin that could not handle peels or other harsh physical scrubs. I just know these type of "exfoliators" are very gimmicky and just do not work. Let me explain.

This peel gel acts as a physical peel to remove the outer layer of dead skin, as a chemical peel to penetrate deep into skin for in-depth exfoliation, and as a treatment to firm and brighten for a healthy complexion. Where it states, "Instantly feel outer layer of skin being fully exfoliated", is where the gimmicky part comes in. Those "dead skin cells" that you think is coming off your skin is really just different emulsifying agents and silicones balling up on your skin. It will absolutely not exfoliate your skin whatsoever. You can actually use this product on any surface, and you'll see the emulsifying agents ball up as well. Here, let me demonstrate on an old ass train case.

The Good

It made my train case smells good. It helped getting the excess dirt off as well, so I will give it credit for that.

The Bad

Not only this product did absolutely nothing for my skin, it actually got stuck on my peach fuzz on my damn face! It "balled" up around my jawline, where most of my peach fuzz is. I had to actually pick the product off of my blasted face. Even when I woke up the next morning, there were still some there. I couldn't massage this cleanser all over my face since it kept sticking in certain areas which is very bizarre.

I don't hate Boscia at all. I actually quite like some of their products, but this shit sucks balls. I just don't get why these type of exfoliators are very popular. It's just a pile of over priced garbage. If you want a good exfoliator, use a gentle physical scrubs with jojoba beads in it or a 5-10% glycolic moisturizer.

Holika Holika Petit BB Cream

I love the idea of BB cream; it’s a foundation, it’s a moisturizer, and a sunscreen. That is if you find one that matches your skin tone. Most of BB creams that I have come across are either way too orange, or they are so sheer that they don’t really accomplish anything tint wise, but then I came across Holika Holika Essential (the yellowy- orange package) Petit BB Cream and I fell in love. It is epitome of my lazy make-up routine, Petit BB cream, concealer, powder, and I’m good to go. This BB cream has a good amount of coverage, but matches to lighter skin tones, especially to that jaundice like undertone of my skin. This is also one of the more affordable brands of BB Creams. It retails at Pretty and Cute for about $8.99, but most independent Korean sellers offer the product for around 4 or 5 dollars.

The product has a light, perfume scent, I personally like it, but I might be a bit strong for those who are sensitive to odors and perfumes. The special ingredient in the Essential BB cream is caviar which is supposed to provide extra elasticity and moisture in order to benefit aging skin.

I just couldn’t stop the essential BB Cream I had to try the other varieties available. I had to catch them all, so to speak.

Out of all the Holika Holika Petit BB creams I tried, the Moisture (the purple package) was my absolute favorite. You can tell by the feel of the product formula that is very lavish and moisture rich. The special ingredient in this formula is Hyaluronic acid, which is an excellent ingredient for anyone with acne prone skin that still needs. It feels amazing on the face and I saw a vast improvement in my skin quality, I had blemish free skin while wearing this product.

I would rank the Moisture BB cream the highest, the Essential as second, and the Shimmering (the pink package) as third. I had never worn a “shimmering” face product before and I was intrigued by the idea thinking that by wearing it I could also skip highlighting in my make-up routine. The special ingredient in the Shimmering cream is pearl powder and since my favorite highlighting product is Lorac’s Oil free luminizer which has a pearlescent finish I thought that it would be right up my alley (especially since I think Lorac has discontinued the luminizer).

When I first put on the Shimmer cream I looked sweaty, like I had a just three blocks on the hottest day of July sweaty. After the cream oxidized and I applied some powder it didn’t look as bad, but I didn’t really care for the finish. I just don’t think a dewy glow goes with my black eye shadow and red lipstick, Unlike the Moisturizing and Essential creams, the Shimmering is not a full coverage product and because it is shimmering product the color is also lighter than the previous products. Interesting to note that out of all of the products, the Shimmering cream has a higher SPF level. The other products offer and SPF 30 and the Shimmering is an SPF 45.

The Clearing BB cream (the blue-green package) sucks. The special ingredient in Holika and Holika Clearing BB cream is tea tree oil and it claims to rid the skin of blemishes and imperfections with the tea tree oil. This product is more useless than a mesh condom. This BB cream caused my skin to break out. The consistency of this product feels oily in compassion to others and though the product claims it contains oil controlling powders in it, it feels like you have oil sitting on you face after applying it. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who has acne problems. If you have acne, I recommend the Moisture BB cream. This one is snake oil, in the literal sense.

I am aware that Holika Holika has a Watery Petit BB cream as well, but as far as I can tell the special ingredient in it is green tea and it claims to shimmering, moisturizing, and clearing all in in one. It is also the one product with the lowest SPF level of 25. After doing some research on the product, I think I’m just going to skip it. There are many people who complain of this cream causing break outs, much like the Clearing formula. Also the color of this cream is runs closer to brown with pink undertones. I think I am quite happy with my Moisture formula, and I don't want to go down that road again. I'm not even sure why Holika Holika made another Petit BB cream other than to just try and stick everything their previous BB creams did together. Sometimes you should just quite while you are ahead there Holika Holika.

While I was scrolling through the, "expensive crap I want, but can't have" on Sephora, I discovered these super cute false eye lashes and nail polish. I'm normally not into false lashes (I'm terrible at putting falsies on), but these caught my eye. It's nice to see a higher end brand to come out with cute yet tacky lashes (and black lipstick!).

Reminds me of the days when I bought Manic Panic makeup many moons ago for whatever reason, but I would actually wear these falsies all year around. Just for Halloween? Hell no.

I will say, Illamasqua is probably my favorite nail polish brand. Way better than OPI. It just actually stays on longer! Also, this is a good deal. Normally, their nail polishes are $17 a piece (Wasn't $14?), and their falsies are $15.

What do you think? Yay? Nay?

Movies: Gravity - Review

Has anyone noticed that most of the block buster movies this year is about the world ending or apocalyptic mayhem? How depressing. I guess it's better than 'getting married' type movies that was trending in the 90's.

Anyway, I'm going to talk about the actors first off before I get started on the story and effects since the actors were my main concern in this movie. I will explain why below. Also, there maybe some SPOILERS. I wouldn't really consider them, but it's two people in space, so there's really not that much to give away, but I won't give away the ending and what not.

I wasn't really intrigued with this movie at first since I am not a Sandra Bullock fan (I know it's bad to judge any movie by the actor). I don't think she's a terrible actress at all, but after watching this movie, I don't think she gets the roles she deserves. I suppose I'm just use to her doing lame romantic and/or comedy movies (I know she has done more than that, but it's the majority, people). She did a fantastic job in this movie. Bullock is actually very serious in Gravity. Maybe a couple scenes, she will make you laugh, but that's it. It's a nice change for her as an actress.

Now for George Clooney. He is either a fantastic actor (such as O Brother, Where Art Thou?) or I feel like a lot of his movies, he's just being...well, George Clooney (such as Fantastic Mr. Fox). He's kind of 50/50 with me, but when he actual 'acts', he's great. He does a fantastic job in this movie even though he isn't in it as much as Bullock.

Story
The story is pretty much the synopsis you read above. Two astronauts trying to survive in space from space debris that killed their crew with little oxygen and no way to contact Earth for help. I love that this movie gets straight to the point. It doesn't take a decade to see the event that we expect that's going to happen. It's almost immediately. When you get to that point, you're kept on your toes. Gravity kept me tense almost throughout the whole movie. Of course, you get to know Bullock's character, Dr. Ryan Stone more about her past and daughter, but really, that's it. George Clooney's character, Matt Kowalski, just talks about his past adventures in the beginning. You don't really get to know everyone except Ryan Stone, but I like that. It's not trying to cram different plots twists and tons of characters; plain and simple. I like it.

Visuals
This is probably the most beautiful movie I've seen this year. This may sound lame, but the visuals were so surreal, you almost actually believe they're in space. About 100% of the c.g. was just believable. I actually saw this movie in 3D, and I rarely say this, but this movie was actually worth the extra $$ to see in 3D. I could not imagine what this movie would be like in an IMAX.

The Verdict
I highly recommend this movie. I did not expect to like Gravity whatsoever. Visually stunning and great story. And surprisingly, great actors! If you live near an IMAX, go see it (or at least 3D)! Probably is the best way to see this movie.

On IMDB, it states that Angelina Jolie was the original casting choice for Dr. Ryan Stone, but she denied twice. Natalie Portman was their second choice, but denied since she was pregnant. Also, Robert Downey Jr. was the first pick for Matt Kowlaski. The more you know!

I'm a huge fan of Rasputina. I saw them live once, and they were, of course, fan-flippin'-tastic. I've noticed Melora, the lead of the group, doesn't release many albums as they did in the past, but I loved everything she's done. If you haven't listened to them before, definitely check them out!

Skin Care: Skin Script's Glycolic Cleanser With Antioxidants

I have worked in several day spas from Florida to Tennessee. With all the day spas I have worked at previously (and currently), I always try out the whole line to see what it's like, worth, and also tell my clients honestly about the products. It has always been a struggle to find a good skin care line to work with and to supply without spending a fortune. Skin Script is actually both! Of course, like every skin care and cosmetic line on the market, there are some products of theirs that just don't cut it. The product is either fabulous, or just okay; doesn't do or offer much. Excluding the flaws, I decided to share one of my favorite product from Skin Script since there isn't really any reviews online...at all.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Alpha-Arbutin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Glucuronolactone (D), Malic Acid (L), Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Oil, Santatium Austrocaledonicum (Sandalwood) Wood Oil, Cocoamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Alcohol Denat., Tartaric Acid (L), Glycerin.

My Skin Type: Combination/Dry Skin. Oily T-Zone with Dry Cheeks. Acne Prone Skin (Mostly At The Jaw). Previous Sun Damage.

The Good
For those wanting to know, Skin Script is cruelty free and it is made in the States! Also, fragrance and dye free. Always a positive.

With any skin care product, it usually takes about a month to notice a difference, unless you have an allergic reaction, of course. I've been using this cleanser every night as my second cleanse for a little over a month now. What I mean by second cleanse is, I always do a double cleanse at night. I use either a cream, oil, or balm cleanser to remove my makeup, and then use an exfoliant cleanser to help with my acneic skin.

This may sound silly to some, but I like any exfoliating product that I can actually feel it working. I guess that triggers the thought in my brain that, 'It's working!'. I feel a slight tingling, but only for a few seconds. You may feel more if you have a blemish or one that's still healing.

I love using this cleanser with my Clarisonic! I also do like that this cleanser does not make my skin feel super dry. It feels nice and clean, but not tight. Also, this cleanser does not turn me red whatsoever.

The Bad

I haven't notice a huge difference in the reduction of my acne. I've noticed the milias on my jaw have some what, but nothing more as of yet. Consuming a lot of dairy can cause more acne, so it may also be where I've been drinking so much of Dunkin' Donuts Pumpkin Latte. Ugh, so delicious and cheap.

The only other 'bad' thing I can say about this product that it is obviously not made for sensitive skin. If you have rosacea or specific allergies, then, yeah, I would probably skip this cleanser.

Overall, I think this is an excellent anti-aging/acne cleanser. Since it's only been about a month since I've been using this product, I haven't noticed a big change in my acne yet. I've noticed my skin looks brighter, my milias (white heads) has reduced on my chin and jaw line some what, and my skin looks and feels smoother. I have high hopes for this product, and I'm digging it so far. If you're interested in this product or the line in general, Skin Script can be only purchased by your local day/medical spa. Support your local aesthetician!

The Most Expensive Nail Polish In The World. $250,000.

In each issue of my holy beauty bible, New Beauty, there are small articles about “luxury” items such as this insanely expensive nail polish by the brand Azature. I was pretty shocked at the price of this product, but when I saw the price tag, I figured maybe a chunk of it is donated to a specific cause and what not. Nope.

What makes this blasted polish so special is that it is infused with 267 carats of fully cut and faceted black diamonds. According to the magazine, Kelly Osbourne received a manicure with this polish while spending that amount money. I do hope the manicurist received a good tip! How awkward would that be to ring someone at the counter and say, "Oh, and your total is $250,000...credit?"

I'm sure the, gee, I don't know, the 100% that are reading this are thinking, "Even if I was rich, I would never spend that amount of money on one nail polish!" Well, would you? It's hard to imagine so, but if you were born and raised in a very wealthy family without having to struggle with bills or anything that's the norm for us, from middle class to below poverty, would we? Probably so. Most of us could not even imagine that sort of life style where buying insanely, over priced nail polish is the norm. Must be nice, I suppose.

Putting all that aside, Azature expanded their line for a way more affordable polishes for only $25 a piece. Well, compared to their other price, I think this will do for the makeup/nail polish junkies. The major difference is that each polish contains one single black diamond that is "hand placed" in each bottle and gives the look of diamonds.

I may consider buying one of their affordable polishes, but I'm not really a, get-my-nails-done, kind of lady. Since I've been a licensed aesthetician for almost four years now, I'm not allowed to, or supposed to, wear polish or grow my nails out (for sanitary reasons), so I'm just use to not wearing any polish whatsoever. Pedicures on the other hand...

Illamasqua Lipstick Review: Flare and Apocalips

I have the biggest brand crush on Illamasqua. I tend to gravitate toward more theatrical make-up looks than natural make-up looks, because secretly I want to look like a robot in a 1920’s silent film about the future. Is that a practical desire? No, but Illamasqua certainly promises that it can make that dream a reality. I've been buying Illamasqua products piece meal from Sephora since they acquired a partnership with them and have been satisfied with every product I purchased.

I decided to pool our funds together and make a purchase from Illamasqua’s home site. Pro-tip for our fellow over-seas customers, while the website says free shipping on all International orders over 50 GBP this does not count Fragrances or Nail Polishes, which you would find that charge for that extra love and care in shipping reasonable if you have ever left a bottle of nail polish in a hot car and had it explode like me.

I purchased two lipsticks in the colors Flare and Apocalips (Get it? Oh the cleverness, it burns.) The former is a bright orange and the latter is a deep sea green. I had wanted an orange lipstick for quite some time, but the green I just had to have because it was green. I have a problem with buying exotic colored cosmetics and have no occasions for them, case in point I own MAKE UP FOREVER’S Kelly green colored blush, but I’ve never worn it. I just wanted it because it was Green blush and who had ever heard of that madness before?

I have to say that I have some mixed feelings about these lipsticks on the upside, they are incredibly pigmented, what you see it exactly what you get. On the down side, it’s like putting an oil pastel on your lips, the formula for this lipstick is incredibly thick. There is no smooth glide on formula like a MAC lipstick; it is like drawing your lips on with a crayon, and one those cheap Crayola knock offs at that. The only way to really control the application is to use a lip brush, trying to apply it straight from the tube is like filling an SAT bubble with a giant novelty pencil. The color is going to go far beyond the boundary of your lip line. The color is great, completely opaque and completely matte. The pigment in Flare was stained very well and it didn't have to touch it very often throughout the day. Apocalips doesn't last as long, and it doesn't look very pretty as it fades, but that could be said of any dark, unnatural lip color. However being the lipstick being so thick and opaque also makes it is also very drying on the lips. I recommend using it after a nice application of lip balm or under a layer of gloss.

I love the color of Flare. Combined with Illamasqua’s Tremble blush it creates a very bright sunny look that I think is perfect for summer.

Apocalips is probably going to end gathering some dust. I had dreams of pairing it with it with a Nu-goth ensemble, but I don’t think that going to come to fruition. Honestly, I don’t think it looks that good with my skin tone and eye color. I look more deranged that I usually intend to.

In the end, I wasn't very impressed. Especially after using MAC and Yves Saint Laurent lip colors. You can find other lip color that have intense pigment and have far more pleasant feeling on the lips. I love the fact that Illamasqua always has exotic colors in stock and just for special collections, but this product really feels like I’m using stage make-up. I still love Illamasqua, but the lipstick isn't for me.

Crap I Put On My Face: Holika Holika Tomato Essence Mask Sheet Review

I love tomatoes. I can consume tomatoes in any form; fried, pureed, diced, you name it. I have an exceptional fondness for Bloody Marys. Well, more like a My Strange Addiction-Shotgunning Bloody Mary’s until I vomit sort of way. I stopped keeping Bloody Mary mix around the apartment after an incident where I ended up driving through a snow storm at 7 am in search of caffeine and grease in order to vanquish a throbbing hangover gained due to a massive intake of tomatoes and booze the night before.

If I can’t get drunk off tomatoes and vodka, then I think wallowing in tomatoes for the improvement of my skin is the next best thing. That is why the idea Holika Holika’s Tomato Essence Mask appealed to me, that and it was two bucks and I needed to buy something else to meet the spending requirement for free shipping.

I've used these mask sheets before and my feelings toward them are still ambiguous. I know that they are an effective way to evenly distribute a product across the face, but they are slimy to the touch, this mask felt like slug-mucus, and I am always afraid I am going to tear them while I am in the process of unfolding them. Plus, they look like you are wearing the world’s laziest leather face costume.

The mask actually doesn't smell remotely like tomato. It has a sweet chemical odor to it. I did not bother tasting it. I am sure I would have been disappointed in the flavor. One applies the mask to the face for 20 minutes, and then peels that mask off and works the remaining goo in to the face.

There is a slight, tingly sensation when wearing the mask, but it isn't irritating. The skin does feel noticeably softer after using the mask. The only problem I had with the product was that the constancy was incredibly slimy feeling in comparison to other masks I've used. I feel like I had been licked in the face by the Queen Alien. Otherwise, Holika Holika's Tomato Essence Mask is a generally inoffensive product, and for two dollars it isn't a very large investment. After using this mask, there a plethora of other tomato skin products I’d like to try primarily the Yes to Tomatoes line, Purederm's Tomato Mask Essence Mask, and Tonymoly: Tomatox Magic White Massage Pack which looks like a freakin' wee tomato.

And now that I know the Miraculous Detoxification properties of Tomatoes, I can feel less guilty about the Bloody Mary’s I consume because I’m just getting my daily does antioxidants with my vodka...

Hello to the very few viewers to my blog, or for those who randomly found me on Google.

I've been very busy, exhausted, and tired in the world of Morgan. This blog has been in the back of my brain for quite some time to make posts and what not, but it's just getting the time, and really, the effort, to do it. I don't have a camera (that works) at the moment, so I can not make the posts that I really want; reviews, random pictures of my life, and my cat, Gingko (she's so awesome). Not too sure why I'm making this post, but, I suppose, it satisfies my brain that I've told the few people who read The Mourning Reviews that, yes, I will hopefully be posting soon when I get my shit together! I do actually enjoy blogging useless information about beauty, books, music, etc, and my goal is to have more people wanting to post on my blog (I just think it's so fun to find other cool losers like me). C'est la vie.

I mentioned in a previous post that I work at a Merle Norman. I know it's lame posting reviews of products at places you work at since, well, we get it cheap(er) or free, BUT there are not a lot of reviews of Merle Norman makeup or skin care line in general on the internet, so I think I'm exempt for that reason! Good
What does "HC" stand for? I have no clue. It doesn't state on the box or anywhere, but I've been calling it, "Hydrating Control" since it has 12 hydrating ingredients as stated above, so that's what I'm assuming. On their official website, it claims it for all skin types; I disagree. It's mainly for dry, mature, and dehydrated skin. I have the dry and dehydrated skin type and condition, and this foundation works wonders for me. It gives me good light to medium coverage without making me feel greasy or feel thick where I feel like it would melt off (since it's finally getting warmer) and it gives me a nice glow. A little goes a long way.

For those with wrinkles, this will not sink into fine lines because of the oils. It's an excellent foundation for mature skin.

Also, the shade for me is the palest, which is, "Cream", since I have very fair skin, and this actually blends in my skin tone very well; mixture of pink/yellow undertones, but not all of Merle Norman's foundations are like that; very few are unfortunately.

Bad
I absolutely hate this packaging. I don't understand why this foundation is in a jar and not in a tube! It's just not sanitary and it also takes a little bit longer for me to get ready since I don't just dunk my brush (or fingers), which most people do, in the jar and rub it all over my face. I actually use a mini spatula, put the foundation on the back of my hand, and air brush that junk on my face.

The Verdict
It's excellent for dry, mature skin IF you don't have a lot of skin issues. If you have severe acne, I would skip this with all the oils in this foundation, but if it's minor, I would check it out. Most stores have testers.

This foundation is not recommended for oily, acne-prone skin!

For those who don't know, EWG, Environmental Working Group, is a database that lets you know if your products, such as house hold cleaners, makeup, skin care, etc, are safe for you and your family/pets. Not a lot of people realize that most of our everyday products contains carcinogens, and also, still today, formaldehyde! There are tons of them out there, but EWG compiled the Hall of Shame list for 2012 (pdf file).

Believe me, it's worth looking through.
