In the first tip, we showed you how to get to the Windows Desktop by hovering over or clicking on the new transparent zone in the lower-right corner of the screen—a.k.a., the Aero Peek feature. But perhaps you access your Windows Desktop constantly, or it contains lots of nested folders that are home to your everyday working files. You can get fast-click access to them from the taskbar without minimizing all your windows and losing your place.

You’ll have to set this up, though. Right-click on the taskbar, and choose Properties, to launch the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog. Under the Toolbars tab, check off the Desktop button.

Hit OK, and a mini-menu called “Desktop” appears in the taskbar, followed by two angle brackets (>>). Click it, and you’ll see all of the items on your Windows Desktop, complete with nesting folders. Now it’s easy to access anything on your Windows Desktop without having to navigate back to it. Especially useful: The Computer entry in this menu lets you browse your PC’s entire drive-and-folder hierarchy from here (including any networked drives).

Install Control Panel submenus in the Start menu

If you’re any kind of PC tweaker, like we are, you spend way too much time inside the Windows Control Panel. One of the quibbles we’ve had with past versions of Windows was the several layers of clicks you’d have to negotiate to get into the depths of Control Panel—especially with the Category as opposed to Classic view of the panel that was the default with Vista.

In Windows 7, you can set up the OS to allow you direct access to individual Control Panel items straight from the Start menu. To set this up, right-click the Start button in the taskbar, and choose Propertiesfrom the resulting context menu. In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box that pops up, click the Start Menu tab, then the Customize button. Under the subcategory named Control Panelon the ensuing screen, choose Display as a menu. It's here:

Now, when you click Control Panel in the Start menu, you’ll get a selection list that shows all the same Control Panel sub-items that you’d get if you launched the Control Panel into its own window. It looks like this:

HOW DO I CUSTOMIZE FOLDERS WITH DIFFERENT COLORS?

Just follow the two simple steps given below to customize your folder :

STEP 1:

HOW TO CREATE RUN COMMANDS IN WINDOWS

There is no doubt that Microsoft Windows is the most widely used operating system in all parts of the world. Apart from being simple to use, it is quite rich in features as well, which makes our lives quite easy.

The Run command available on Windows operating system is one such power packed feature that lets you to open a document or an application instantly with the help of just 1 command. So, rather than clicking several icons or using multiple commands, you can use the Run command to open any program or document instantly. For that you will need to Create Run Commands for any software of your Choice which you use Frequently.

But, do you know how to Create Run Commands of your Own? Well, it is really easy, which involves just few steps. Through this article, I will help you understand how to access your favorite applications by creating custom Run commands.

OPEN RUN COMMAND:

Before I show you how to create your own Run commands, let’s take a quick look on how to open Run Command. First of all, you need to open the Run window by just pressing the Windows Key along with the R key, i.e. Windows + R. Now, you have to type the name of the program that you desire to open up or execute. Unfortunately, not all programs can be accessed through this method. So, let me show you how to create Run commands that do not come as inbuilt commands.

STEPS TO CREATE RUN COMMANDS OF YOUR OWN

Step 1. The first step is to select the software or application for which you want to make custom Run command. For example, let us consider Google Chrome as the example here. Remember, you can choose any application other than which is already there in the Run command

Step 2. In the second step, right click on the desktop of your computer system and make a new shortcut.

Right click > New > Shortcut

step 3. As you select the Shortcut option in the 2nd Step, it will open up a dialog box. And, the dialog box will ask you path of the application or software for which you want to create the Run command.

Step 4. Now, you need to browse through the files and choose the one that shows “chrome.exe”. Well, it is quite obvious that all the executable files can be found in the C drive (or wherever the Operating System has been installed), inside the folder “Program Files”. For example, “C:\Program Files\Google Chrome\chrome.exe”

Step 5. Once you are done with Step number 4, just click on “Next” button and simply provide a relative name to that shortcut. Remember, the same name will be used later in the Run command.

For example, “GC” for Google Chrome

Step 6. Now, click on the “Finish” button. Once it is done, an icon related to that application or software will show up on your computer’s screen. It means that the process of creating shortcut has been done successfully.

Step 7. In this step, just cut and paste that recently made shortcut icon into your computer’s root drive, in its Windows folder.

For example, C:\ Windows , Make sure you are the administrator of the computer or have its password.

Step 8. Now, you are done with the set up and can run the application through Run Command. Just go to Run and enter the keyword “GC”, and Google Chrome will begin executing.

HOW TO SET PASSWORD ON ANY APPLICATION IN PC

Hello friends, today I am going to tell you a trick to make your PC softwares password protected. It means whenever anyone open any software in your PC then he/she will be asked for a password if the user don’t know the password then he can not use the software. How to partition hard drive after Windows 7 installed

Step 1: Click Start Menu --> type Run keyword in Search Programs and Files section, open Run in Programs.
Run dialogue box opens --> type diskmgmt.msc keyword -->Enter or click OK

Step 2: Disk Management opens, all the available hard drives, including the connected USB devices will be displayed automatically.
To create a new partition from a hard drive, you only need to right click the hard drive that you want to partition and select Shrink Volume

Step 3: A new dialogue box appears and informs about the used and free space of the hard drive. Input the size for the partition which is divided in the Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB box.

Click Shrink

Tip: Create a New Partition on a Windows 7 Hard Disk

Name the new partition and click OK.
Step 4: After creating a new partition, re-format the new partition.
Right click the new partition -->New Simple Volume

Step 5: Click Next, a dialogue box will display the size of the new partition --> Click Next

Step 6: Select an icon for the new partition, click Next

Step 7: Name the new drive Volume Label -->Next

Step 8: After finishing the setting, click Finish to close this window.

Return to Disk Management window, the new hard drive partition has appeared. To be certain, check the partition to see whether it has appeared in Windows Explorer or not.

Add a Videos Link to the Start Menu

The Windows 7 Start Menu includes links to your Pictures and Music folders, but not to your Videos
folder. If you watch a lot of videos and want a link to them on your Start Menu, here's what you can do:

1. Right-click the Start button and select Properties.
2. On the screen that appears, go to the Start Menu tab and click Customize.
3. In the dialog box that appears, scroll to the bottom, look for the Videos section, select "Display as a link," and click OK and then OK again.

If you'd prefer that Videos display as a menu, with links to files and submenus, instead select "Display as a menu."

Telecom operators in India are infamous for activating value-added services without the consent of the consumer. This happens mostly to prepaid subscribers. Many a times users are caught unaware as to why their prepaid account balance has automatically got deducted due to services they haven't subscribed.

Getting in touch with the customer support is mostly a waste of time. The call centre executives offer lame reasons and solution to counter the problem. They always try to make the consumer believe that it is due to some feature/service activated by them.

One of the patented reason for activating VAS without the consent of the user is- "Sir/ ma'am, this depends on your internet activity. There are some sites which you should not visit. These website are rogue and automatically deducts your balance."

As the calls to the customer care is chargeable, the executives continue with their baseless solutions and reasons. In the background, the VAS continues to consume account balance. Most of these VAS automatically gets subscribed on a montly basis if not stopped. So, in the long run, a prepaid subscriber can lose a lot of money if they are unaware.

In order to restrict telcos from forceful activation of VAS, DoT has dedicated a service to help subscribers. While the service was announced way back in 2013, very few subscribers seem to be informed about it.

All that a consumer needs to do to use this service is send an SMS by typing "STOP" to 155223. This is a toll free number. The user will get a reply from the same number informing about the list of VAS packs activated on their mobile. To deactivate these services, he just needs to reply accordingly.

It is a good practice to check VAS subscriptions every now and then to avoid unnecessary balance deductions

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As Kerala gears up for May 16 Assembly polls, a firm has launched a bilingual interactive mobile application providing poll-related information, ranging from details of candidates to live news streaming from Malayalam news channels.

'My Election', designed by Kochi-based event and campaign management Lamda Media Solutions for Android smartphones and claimed to be the first of its kind, allows voters to find out details about their polling stations and view online news feeds related to the polls.

The free-to-download app is encyclopaedic in content as it provides a history of Kerala Assembly Elections since 1957.

"The app acts as a knowledge-sharing platform for voters of the state. Moreover, elections in the state always generate nostalgic feelings for expatriates. The Kerala diaspora can now get live updates of elections simply through their handsets," Lamda Managing Director Bobby Elanjickal said in a release.

For those in the fray, it can serve as a campaign vehicle.

The candidates will be provided with specific IDs through which they can access the server and add details to their profiles. This will allow them to upload videos and photos.

The language of the app can be switched to either English or Malayalam, Elanjickal said.

NYORK: Internet giant Google has released a new feature that will enable parents to teach children about different noises that animals make.

A quick search for "animal noises" on Google returns illustrations of animals, their names and a sample of what sound do they make, Mashable tech website reported.

Alternatively, you can also search for something like, "What does the dog say", to bring up a specific animal sound result, the report added.

Google has included 19 animal sounds in its list, including zebra, ape, cat, lion, moose, owl, pig, cow, duck, elephant, horse, raccoon, bowhead whale, humpback whale, wolf, rooster, sheep, tiger and a turkey.

How to partition hard drive after Windows 7 installed

How to Create Keyboard Shortcuts to open programs

You can create keyboard shortcuts to open programs. Opening programs this way is often simpler than opening them using your mouse or other pointing device. Before you get started, you need to create a shortcut for the program to which you want to assign a keyboard shortcut. To do this, open the folder that contains the program, right-click the program's executable file, and then click Create Shortcut. For more information about creating shortcuts to programs, see Create or delete a shortcut.

Locate the shortcut to the program that you want to create a keyboard shortcut for.
Right-click the shortcut, and then click Properties.
In the Shortcut Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab.
Click in the Shortcut key box, press the key on your keyboard that you want to use in combination with Ctrl+Alt (keyboard shortcuts automatically start with Ctrl+Alt), and then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
You can now use this keyboard shortcut to open the program.

Notes

The word None appears in the Shortcut key box until you press a key; then it's replaced with Ctrl+Alt+the key that you pressed.

The new shortcut might not work for programs that have their own keyboard shortcuts.

You cannot use the Esc, Enter, Tab, Spacebar, PrtScn, Shift, or Backspace keys to create a keyboard shortcut.

You can also create keyboard shortcuts to open files and folders.

Clear Recent Documents Windows 7 & 8

In Windows 7 and 8, you won’t see any list of recent documents by default in the Start Menu; however, it does still exist. If you right-click on the Start Menu, choose Properties, click on the Start Menu tab and then click on Customize, you’ll see a checkbox for Recent Itemstowards the bottom.

If that is checked, then you will see the recent documents in the Start Menu like shown below:

In addition to the Start menu, if Recent Items is enabled, you’ll also see the list of recent documents when you right-click on a program in the task bar. This is called the jump list and it basically includes a customized menu for each program.

Now there are two ways to get rid of items from a jumplist or from the list of recent documents in Windows 7 and higher: either clear the jumplist or prevent Windows from showing any recent documents at all.

I have already written a detailed post on how to clear jumplists in Windows 7, so read that first. However, that just temporarily clears the jumplist. Once you open more documents, the jumplist will again list out recent documents.

If you go back to the Customize dialog where you enabled Recent Documents, you’ll see two options at the bottom for Start Menu Size:

The item we are interested in is Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists. Go ahead and set that to and Windows will no longer show the list of recently opened documents. When you right-click on a program from your task bar, the list will be gone.

However, this is a bit misleading in two ways. Firstly, when I went ahead and opened Word, all of my recent documents were listed there! So to truly remove the list of recent documents, you have to clear it from the application itself.

For Word, open the program, click on File and then Options. Click on Advanced in the left menu and scroll down till you see the Display section.

Here you will see the Show this number of Recent Documents option. Go ahead and change that value to 0. Now the list will be gone from Word itself.

Secondly, setting the number of recent items to display in jump lists to 0 is misleading because even though you may not see the list anymore when you right-click, Windows is still storing the history! For example, go ahead and change the value back from 0 to something else like 5. Now when you right-click on Word, for example, you’ll see the list is back!

To prevent Windows from storing the history altogether, you have to right-click on Start, go to Properties again and click on the Start Menu tab. This time don’t click on Customize!

You will see under the Privacy section a checkbox for Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar. Go ahead and uncheck that box and now Windows will no longer store the history of your recently opened documents for any program. As mentioned before, the individual program itself may store a list of recent documents, which has to be cleared manually.

How To Clean your RAM using Notepad

Many friends of me ask where can I download a software which can keep my RAM free? And I found these software are nothing but using some lines of code which can be implemented by using notepad or any editor tool. So if any one does not have any software, you can use it by doing the following things which I am going to mention.

1) Open Notepad (Start > Run > Notepad)

2) Type FreeMem=Space(10240000000)

3) You can change the value 1024 with any other value according to your RAM size (e.g: 512 if you have 512Mb of Memory)

4) Save it as “L2C.VBS”

5) If you want to clean your RAM then Run the file you created in step 4.

Done!

After this final step your RAM will be free........

How To Make Your Own Subtitles With Any Text Editor

Any text editor that you have will be enough to create basic subtitles. For more customized subtitles, you can check out the second section of this article For this article, we’ll be using the built-in Notepad text editor in Windows to make basic subtitles with no additional color or font customization. Open Notepad and save your file with the .srt extension and is in UTF-8 (especially if you’re inputting special characters)

We will go over how to create subtitles in the SubRip (.srt) format, which follows this easy-to-learn pattern:

1 Stop using the drive. The chances of recovering the files you want go down significantly if you keep accessing the drive you are trying to recover from. Adding and removing more data can corrupt the data of the files you are trying to recover from. To maximize your chances, don’t save or download anything you don’t need

2 Find a file recovery program. There are plenty of paid programs out there that advertise their ability to recover files, but there are lots of free programs available that work just as well in almost all cases. 3 Download the portable or standalone version if possible. Do not download to the drive that you need to recover from. Ideally, download the portable version of the program on another computer and copy it to a USB drive. This will ensure that no data is written to the drive that you need to recover files from.

· Portable programs do not need to be installed, and can be run from a USB drive or any other location.

· Not all file-recovery programs offer portable versions.

Run the file-recovery program. If you have a portable file-recovery program, insert the USB drive in the computer you want to recover on, and run the program. If you’ve installed a file-recovery program, run it.

Most programs will be able to recover from both hard drives and USB drives, so you don’t need to download separate programs for each one.

5 Tell the program what types of files to look for. Not all recovery programs will ask for this, and it is not necessary even if they do, but it can speed up the search if you narrow the field.

6 Tell the recovery program where to scan. If you are trying to recover files from a hard drive, make sure that you have the correct drive selected. If recovering files from a USB d rive, make sure the drive is inserted and then select it from the list.

Click on the start menu then type cmd in the run dialog box and click ok as shown below

then the command prompt will open in the command window type diskpartas follows

then press enter key

From here the real work starts,you have to type list diskas follows

then press enter key
you can type list disk it will do, the reason is to list out all the disks those are curently attached to your pc including the hard disk and removable disk
here your disk will be also listed ,search for your disk, to do this search under free or size

if your disk is of 8GB it wil be listed as 8x1024=8192MB and like wise
now type
select disk 1 here the number one refers to your disk number you have to type your volume no. means if your volume is listed as Disk 2 then type select disk 2 and likewise now press enter key

Type clean,press enter key ,it is used for cleaning or erasing the data from memorycard

If it suceeded in cleaning then a message disk part succeeded in cleaning same as the above pic will show on screen
Now type create partition primary press enter key
it means your memorycard's memory partition will become a primary partition

After it completed now the turn is to format your memorycard
For this you have to typeformat fs=fat32 here format fs= is syntax , and the fat32 is the memory type , if you want to format as ntfs then type format fs=ntfs after typing press enter key

Now the last and final step
Typeassign,used for assigning a letter to disk ,or creating mounting point

when it shows successfully asiigned drive letter or mount point, typeexit or just click on close button

Congrats just after a few seconds a window will pop up like when you attach a new disk or pendrive have fun with your memory card
Here my advice to you is Never remove your the device you want to format during this process
You can also use this process to create a bootable device ,means to create a operating system installation disk,on removable devices like pendrive

It is possible threw ASCII code.

1:-Right click on file or folder and choose “rename”.

2:-Then hold “Alt” key and press "255".

3: Then again hold "Alt" and following below number.

66 for B

67 for C

68 for D as it…
