Powers

Jonah Hex was by all accounts human and did not possess any superhuman powers.

Abilities

Jonah Hex was an expert bounty hunter and skilled in the ways of tracking and survival. Both in the Confederate army and with the Apaches he was trained in the use of firearms, sabre, bow, tomahawk, and hand-to-hand combat. He is widely considered the greatest bounty hunter to ever live in his lifetime. During his tenure in the 21st century, Jonah Hex developed automotive skills and expertise in using futuristic weaponry.

Strength level

Hex is much stronger than the average man in his time, due to his fighting experience and harsh training that started as a child, and continued throughout adulthood.

Transportation

Jonah once owned a horse named General. After General was killed by stray fire in Weird Western Tales (Volume 1) #22, Jonah made use of whatever horse was available to him at any given time.

Weapons

Two ivory handled .44 caliber Colt dragoon pistols, one Bowie knife, lever action rifle, an 1860 Light cavalry sabreand other weapons germane to the 19th century American southwest. In the 21st century, Hex had access to a variety of futuristic firearms.

Invisible Woman

Invisibility: The Invisible Woman has the mental ability to manipulate ambient cosmic energy for a variety of effects, including the rendering of herself and other objects invisible, and the construction of solid, invisible force fields. In an as yet unknown manner, cosmic energy interacts with the cells of her entire body in such a way as to produce a new form of energy with unusual properties. By a simple act of concentration, she can cause all wavelengths of visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light to bend around her without distortion; she also somehow directs enough undistorted light to her eyes to retain her full range of vision while invisible. An observer, unaware of the peculiar path light takes around her body, would have the sensation of seeing through her. The Invisible Woman can also mentally project the invisible energy produced within the cells of her body in order to render other people or objects invisible. The largest volume she can as yet turn invisible at a single time is approximately 40,000 cubic feet of volume (1,133 cubic meters), equivalent to a small swimming pool. She has sufficient control over her power that she can turn parts of her body selectively invisible. She is also able to make objects that have been turned invisible by other sources visible by letting her own energy projection interfere with that other method of invisibility. Further, she can make energy that is not in the visual portion of the electromagnetic spectrum visible by a similar interaction. Sue can also sense something made invisible by physical means (such as a machine) but not by magical or psionic means.

Psionic Force Fields: While the cells of the Invisible Woman's body produce a certain energy manifestation, the cells of her brain produce a different, more potent manifestation. Through concentration, she is able to project a field of psionic force which she can manipulate into a number of relatively simple forms: rectangular planes, cylinders, globes, domes, cones, etc. The complexity of the shape is limited by her ability to imagine (mentally visualize) a particular form and keep it in sharp mental focus: not even she is able to see the forms she creates. The size of a given psionic force projection is also limited by her ability to imagine. The smallest force projection she can visualize (and maintain the visualization) is the size of a marble. The largest solid force projection she can visualize and maintain is about 100 feet in diameter. She can project larger force-objects if they are hollow. For instance, she could visualize and project a dome of 1 foot thick about a mile in diameter (5,280 feet) and a dome 1 inch in thickness she can project for about 3.2 miles. Small objects at high speeds become missiles; large objects at slow speeds become rams. She can make these objects grow or shrink as desired, up to a size of 100 feet (30 meters).

The Invisible Woman is able to use the projection of her psionic force to travel through the air. By projecting a rising column beneath her feet and simultaneously causing it to expand and topple at the same time, then creating another column that catches her, shrinks, rights itself and then repeating the process, she is able to effect a zig-zag flight path. She is able to reach an average speed of about 25 miles per hour, until she becomes fatigued by the concentration, after about 4 hours.

Since her power is an extension of her mind and body, the Invisible Woman is affected by inertial forces acting upon her projections. Thus if a car traveling at 60 miles per hour hit a wall of her force that was 6 inches thick, unless she generated a bracing shape against a sufficiently sturdy object, she would be affected as though she were hit by the car directly. The Invisible Woman is able to control the surface of the fields rigidity to a certain extent. She can cause the surface of the field to be very hard, depending on its thickness (steel-like at about 2.5 feet), or as resilient as foam rubber. By making the field more resilient she is able to absorb more of the inertia of impacts within the field without having them transmitted to her body. She is also, through training, able to alter the shapes she creates while utilizing those shapes, often to absorb or deflect the force of impacts. When she creates objects of fields that are at the limit of her ability to mentally visualize, they tend to be resilient rather than rigid. As she has grown in the use of her powers. Currently these fields can withstand impacts of Class 100 strength, a literally astronomical level: the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, and Annihilus once survived passage through a black hole by using these fields (and some help from the Cosmic Control Rod).

Shock Waves: Sue is capable of using her force fields as shock waves hitting her opponent with the force field.

She is capable of generating and manipulating multiple psionic force fields simultaneously.

Abilities

Sue has some modest experience and ability in the field of acting, and has recently taken up teaching. She is a capable unarmed combatant. She is renowned for her changing hairstyles (once said to match the Wasp's changing costumes).

Strength level

Susan Storm has the strength of a normal human female who engages in moderate regular exercise.

Weaknesses

The size, number, and movements of these objects are limited only by her powers of concentration. Once she stops concentrating on an object, it ceases to exist.

Characteristics

Robert Howard never gave exact details about Conan's height, weight, etc. He probably lived in a medieval type society where height averages were smaller than today's average. For the Hyborian Age, he was sometimes described as "massive". Whether this refers to his height or muscle mass, or both is unknown. Estimates of these statistics vary by author, and Conan's presumed age at the time of a given tale.

Weight: 180 - 265 lbs.

Eyes: Blue (often described as "smoldering" or "sullen")

Hair: Black, (often described as being "mane-like")

Ethnicity: Cimmerian

Skin: Conan's skin coloring is considered unusually dark for a Cimmerian (often described as being "sun-bronzed")

Distinguishing features: Conan has numerous battle scars, especially on his face

Skills Conan is an accomplished hunter, sword-fighter, horseman, and archer. Conan is familiar with the following weapons: the knife, the axe, the longsword, the broadsword, the short sword, and the bow. The broadsword is his favored weapon. He was one of the most accomplished swordsmen of the Hyborian Age. He is often listed alongside D'artagnan, King Arthur, Obi-Wan Kenobi,Ogami Itto and Zorro as one of the greatest fictional sword fighters in history. Conan has above normal strength for a human, often lifting immense objects or enemies. Through years of dealing with sorcerers, magicians and witches he has developed a moderate level of resistance to magic and mind control spells. While primarily known for brute strength, Conan later became a master tactician, leading entire armies into battle.

Personality Conan is frequently described as being "grim", or "suffering from great melancholies". In modern times he might be diagnosed as having bipolar disorder or some other form of depression. Less frequently he can be found to be quite mirthful, and occasionally he is prone to fits of rage when in battle. He also exhibits a strong wanderlust.

CBM Fight Club RULES!!!
You can base your vote on any version of the character (but preferably use the main comics continuity or live adaptation). For those not familiar with the character I have provided a short feature for each character, just click the name below the character's profile picture (or just scroll to the comment section and see the intelligent arguments made by the CBM community members to help you decide who to vote). This is NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST (That is worth repeating -NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST), please decide logically, you can defend your vote in the comment section, and you can even include descriptive detail on how one character takes down his opponent.

Consider each fight as the FIRST MEETING of the two characters (even if they exist in the same universe, treat the fights as first encounter, which means there are no prior knowledge of the other's power set and abilities, as well as knowing their strengths or weaknesses).

These fights are Chance Encounters, the FIGHTS are NOT PLANNED, so there are no preparation time. But the characters are outfitted with their regular equipments, weapons, and other stuffs that are closely associated to the character. Though the fights are first encounters, it can last as long as it can. The fights does not need to be DEATHMATCHES, incapacitating another character counts as a WIN.

Consider the character's personality and how the character will act on the given situation (will he fight dirty, will he be honorable, etc…). The characters can use anything in their present surrounding for their advantage.

What appears as one-sided fights will occasionally appear in the CBM Fight Club tournaments (e.g. Nick Fury vs Thing, Juggernaut vs Rorscharch, etc...). However, like in our favorite comicbooks, these kinds of fights regularly happen (e.g. Spider-man vs Hulk, Batman vs Darkseid, etc...), and like the underdogs in those stories you can be creative in coming up with ways on how the “weaker” warrior brings down the more powerful opponent.

CBM Fight Club rules states that these fights are first encounters without the combatants knowing anything about their opponent, but it also states that these “imaginary” fights can go on as long as it can, until one fighter is dead or permanently incapacitated (e.g. trapped in a phantom zone). This gives the “weaker” fighter, if he survives the first skirmish, to think of a plan in defeating his opponent. However, you have to limit it to the underdog’s capability of actually figuring out his opponent’s weakness, and if it involves creating a device or a making intricate plans, you have to consider if it is within the character’s ability to execute. A smart fighter uses his surrounding to his own benefit or he can bring the fight in an area where he could get the most leverage and advantage.

Comic Book History

Who is PEGGY CARTER?
Peggy Carter is the former girlfriend of Captain America, and Aunt to Sharon Carter. She fought in WWII as an American agent with the French Resistance. She was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and made her comic debut in Tales of Suspense #77 (May 1966)
First Appearance

Margaret ("Peggy") Carter is the daughter of two wealthy Virginians. Peggy was idealistically dedicated to ending Nazi oppression and therefore joined the French Resistance while she was still a teenager.

She proved to be a valiant and highly capable agent with the Resistance and served on several Resistance operations alongside the hero Captain America. Peggy and Captain America fell in love with each other. However, they were separated because of different mission orders.

She would later get amnesia from shock when a shell exploded near her. She was brought back to her parents’ home where she slowly recovered, but hearing that Captain America sacrificed his life caused her much distress.

Her niece Sharon Carter will occasionally visit her, and she would tell her about her old war stories. These stories would inspire her niece to follow on her footstep.

Peggy's niece would eventually become a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and would meet and also fall in love with the revived Captain America. She regularly visits her aunt in a nursing home now suffering Alzheimer's disease due to old age.

There were even times that Captain America will join Sharon in visiting his old flame.

Peggy is played by Hayley Atwell in the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger. She is a British soldier, who is a part of operation rebirth. She accompanied Captain America in several of his missions.

Comic Book History

Who is BUCKY? Former sidekick to Captain America, now trained as a master assassin. James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby as a sidekick character in Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941). After being thought to be dead Bucky made his presence known again in Marvel Universe as the Winter Soldier. For some time he took the mantle of Captain America after Steve Rogers was presumed to be dead. First Appearance Bucky is an orphan, the son of a soldier killed in training at a U.S. Army Camp before the United States' entry into World War II. As a result, he is unofficially adopted by the camp as a mascot. Nicknamed "Bucky," he takes to wearing a uniform and becoming savvy with the ins and outs of military life, even though he is a teenager. It was at camp that he meets and befriends Private Steven Rogers. When he stumbled "supposedly" to Steve's secret of being Captain America, Steve made Bucky his sidekick. Bucky underwent extensive training and was assigned to be Captain America's partner. The military justified putting a 15-year-old in harm's way by using him as a symbol to rally the youth of America. Captain America and Bucky fight Nazis both at home and abroad, as a duo and as part of the superhero team known as the Invaders. Barnes also teamed-up with other young heroes in a group called the Young Allies. Additionally, Bucky was the organizer of super-team the Liberty Legion. He was also briefly one of the Kid Commandos at this time. Bucky served as an advance scout for Captain America and the Invaders, often being assigned tasks that none of the heroes could be seen doing. In the closing days of World War II, Captain America and Bucky tried stopping the villainous Baron Zemo from destroying an experimental drone plane. Zemo launches the plane with an armed explosive device on it, with the heroes in hot pursuit. They reached the plane just before it takes off. Bucky unsuccessfully tried to defuse the bomb, but it explodes in mid-air before reaching its intended target. He is believed to have been killed in action. After the plane explodes, a Russian patrol submarine found an unconscious Bucky's whose body fell on the cold freezing water. Now missing an arm, Bucky is revived in Moscow, though, because of the explosion, he suffers brain damage with amnesia. Soviet Scientists attach a bionic arm, upgrading it every time technology improves. Bucky is now reprogrammed as a Soviet assassin for Department X, hidden under the new code name the Winter Soldier, he is sent on covert wet works missions, becoming increasingly ruthless and efficient as he kills in the name of the state. While a Soviet agent, he also has a brief relationship with The Black Widow. Bucky would later regain his memory thanks to Captain America, but will be overridden by guilt with his actions as Winter Soldier. He would soon work again with Captain America, and seek employment as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. However, with the assassination of Steve Rogers as Captain America, Bucky was given a difficult choice of continuing his friend's legacy and become a symbol of liberty. With much hesitation, he took the name Captain America but modeled a new outfit saying that he could not wear Steve's uniform because he is not him, but he will honor his memory. Bucky, the new Captain America had several adventures and had fought with Steve's AVENGER comrades and filled the best he can the void that Steve left amongst its greatest heroes. Even when the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, was revived (because death is never permanent in comics), he urged Bucky to continue on as his version of the Shield Slinging and Gun wielding Captain America. Though his tenure as Captain America will then be cut short, in the Fear Itself storyline, where he faces a juiced-up Sin, daughter of the Red Skull, and was mortally wounded. After warning the superhero community about the coming threat, we see Bucky dying again. BUCKY

ANIMATED APPEARANCE/S

Marvel Super Heroes Bucky appears in the Captain America portion of The Marvel Super Heroes The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Bucky also appeared in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, voiced by Scott Menville. In this continuity, Bucky threw Captain America off the rocket before it blew up, believing the world needed Captain America more than he did. Bucky also made an appearance in kid-centric The Super Hero Squad Show, voiced by Rod Keller. He is seen as a member of the Invaders. Ultimate AVENGERS A young soldier/photographer named bucky appeared in the Ultimate AVENGERS movie.

LIVE MEDIA APPEARANCE/S

Sebastian Stan Sebastian Stan portrays James Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger feature film. In this version, Bucky is the same age of Rogers and is physically taller than he is prior to Rogers' transformation to Captain America. Bucky, who is also a soldier joined Captain America's unit.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

As a young soldier, he did not have any superhuman powers. When he became Winter Soldier, he acquired a bionic arm, which gave him several abilities. Superhuman Strength: Has some degree of superhuman strength in his bionic arm. Enhanced Reaction Time: His arm's reaction time is greater than that of any Olympic athlete who has and will ever compete. Sensory Array: The arm houses different sensors which allow him to pass through security such as metal detectors without setting them off. It can also shield other metallic objects from detection such as firearms and knives. Extended Reach: He can apparently either control his bionic arm even if it has been removed from his body (possibly by cybernetic implants), or his arm can be programmed to perform certain actions on its own while removed from his body. Electrical Discharge: He can discharge bolts of electrical energy from his arm's palm. EMP: He can discharge an EMP rendering electronic devices useless. Abilities
Master Martial Artist: Barnes is a dangerously skilled martial artist and hand-to-hand combatant. Expert Marksman: He is an extremely accurate marksman. Skilled in sharp shooting and knife throwing. Skilled Shield Fighter: Barnes is becoming proficient with his former partner's shield. He is able to throw it with near perfect aim striking multiple targets in a single throw and achieving a boomerang-like return after throwing it at single person or object. Skilled Acrobat: He is an Olympic level athlete and acrobat capable of many difficult acrobatic feats. Peak Human Conditioning: Has shown Olympic to possible near peak human level strength, agility, endurance, dexterity, etc. Advanced Scout: Barnes is a very gifted scout and adept at stealth and concealment. Multi-lingual: He is fluent in English, Russian, German, Japanese, and a little French. He might be able to speak other languages. Expert Spy: He is an expert in the field of espionage. He is skilled in stealth, demolitions, survival, deducing other people’s ways of thinking and other fields. Expert Assassin: Possibly one of the most lethal assassin in the marvel universe. He is a master at stealth and tracking and is very intelligent. Barnes has made a habit out of constantly studying his surroundings and depicting what he can and cannot do in whatever situation.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT

Just got home from the cinema and I cannot wait to review Captain America: First Avenger.

One word description – inspirational

I know that a lot of you already have watch this, and have written your own review, so I don’t really know how much more I could add (I have not read any reviews so I might be echoing most of what has already been said about this movie).

Again, Marvel Studios has a winner in Captain America; it is a solid movie all through out, with exceptional acting, good story with good visuals to back it up. Every time that Marvel Studios does well in their movies, it rather makes me sad that DC Entertainment cannot match it. This movie makes me feel bad more for DC because as many comicbook fans know Cap is sort of a DC character in the Marvel universe (full of ideals with little character flaws). So, if Marvel can bring great justice to a character like Captain America, why can’t DC do good with their Green Lantern or Superman movies (I’m not touching the Dark Knight because he’s a Marvel Character in the DC Universe.  ).

Let us return to Captain America. Chris Evans owns the role, and from here on, he will be more associated to this character than that fiery person in Fantastic Four. Evans is an amazing choice for the role of Captain America (even though he had played several other comicbook characters already). Again, it is hard for me not to compare it to DC’s decision of getting Reynolds (who also had played a good number of comicbook characters) for the role of Hal Jordan, the difference between these two guys is that Evans is a better actor and Reynolds just plays himself.
Many of us was a bit hesitant when Chris Evans got the role of Captain America considering his comedic background, but I think after you watch this movie you’ll agree the casting was spot on. Steve Rogers in the movie had some funny lines but he himself is not a “jokey” character, and Evans played that well. He was able to portray the good-naturedness of the character as well as his great nobility. He was strong, he was courageous and he was inspiring (that was even before his transformation to a super soldier).

The supporting characters were great addition to enhance the movie, and all of them served their role well. I especially like Stanley Tucci’s portrayal of Abraham Erskine, his scene with Steve Rogers is what makes the character of Captain America work. Tommy Lee Jones has several funny lines, and well it is hard to go wrong if you have Tommy Lee in your movie (except if you are Batman Forever). Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Steve Roger’s oldest friend, really made the friendship believable. Even though his character has some major alteration from his comics origin, it doesn’t disappoint, and I really got kick seeing him hold the Shield in the train sequence (if you’re a comicbook fan that image speaks a lot and you’re not even worried for the character even after what happens to him in that scene). Hayley Atwell gave her best performance in the plane sequence where she was talking to Steve (this scene reminds me of Star Trek, which funny enough, that the scene I’m pertaining to is the one with Thor star, Chris Hemsworth and Captain America’s fellow Avenger). The Howling Commandos are not there much, similar to Thor’s Warriors Three, but like the Warriors Three when they are there you like them there. Hugo Weaving has always been good in villainous role and this is no different, but I have to say he did not register to me much; I will still give the best Villain of this year’s superhero fest to Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.

In terms of directing, at first I was a bit hesitant of Joe Johnston considering the lackluster turn out of his last movie, the Wolfman. However, after this movie I think it was more the material than the fault of the director himself, because this was a beautifully made movie. Though I’m starting to feel that Marvel is trying to make their movies more cohesive which would later be constricting to visionary directors but for now it is really serving their Cinematical Universe very well (what I mean is that the directors in these movies do not stray afar visually and presentation wise from the movies that has already happened. Similar to what they are doing to TV shows where they usually have a different director for each episode).

The VFX throughout was good, with some few scenes that are somewhat spotty but will not really deter you in enjoying the movie. Cap’s costume was a good transition from comics to movie, but I have already seen what he’s wearing in the AVENGERS movie. Therefore, what he wears in this movie is appropriate for the time period that they were going for. In total the whole iconic look of Cap is there, the shield with only its slight color alteration is geek paradise, how it returns to Cap’s hand when it is thrown, how it ricochets in its surrounding, how it absorbs energy all of that is pure comicbook. Cap on his Harley racing around and jumping, is like taking a page from your favorite comicbook run.

I really can’t say more - MARVEL STUDIOS still makes the best MARVEL MOVIES and maybe best Superhero Movies.

If you have reached this point then I commend you for your perseverance because you’ll need that also in watching the credits after the movie. (You probably know what to expect but its still worth seeing it in the big screen). Funny thing is that I probably am the only geek in our city, because when my wife and I watched the first screening of Captain America and after the movie was finished, all of the people left the cinema, but my wife and I stayed. The cinema’s usher even came to remind us that the movie is only single viewing, and I told her that we know, and we were just waiting to finish the credits. I guess the usher was surprise when after the end credits the trailer for AVENGERS flashed on the screen, after the trailer finished I told the usher that is what we were waiting for and she just smiled.

Comic Book History

Who is BATGIRL?
Barbara Gordon, the original Batgirl, is the niece and adopted daughter of Commissioner Gordon. She was Batgirl for many years until a tragic event paralyzed her from waist down. Barbara reinvented herself as the wheel-chair bound Oracle, an international super-hacker and invaluable computers expert for heroes everywhere. Batgirl made her debut Detective Comics #359 (January 1967), she was created by Gardner Fox and Carmine Infantino.
First Appearance

At age 13, Barbara's parents were tragically killed in an automobile accident. After the accident, her uncle, James Gordon and his wife (also named Barbara), adopted their orphaned niece.

At a young age, Barbara wanted to be a "super-hero", when she moved to Gotham she found her inspiration in Batman.

The young Barbara tried to learn as much as he can about the Batman. She trained hard physically and is equally committed academically.

She wanted to join the police academy and asked her cop father, James Gordon, but he just laughed and said that she did not even meet the height requirements. A little annoyed Barbara planned to crash The Gotham City Police Department's Million Dollar Masquerade Ball dressed up in a homemade "female" version of Batman's suit. Her plan took a slight turn when she arrived in the ball and costumed criminals took hostage the people present. Now Barbara Gordon has to step up and claim what she always dream of, being a superhero. Thus on that night Batgirl was born.

She would earn the trust of Batman, who revealed his secret identity to her as the millionaire Bruce Wayne. She would be sworn in by Batman to uphold justice and fight crime everywhere, making her dream of becoming bona fide superhero come true.

As Batgirl and working alongside the dynamic duo of Batman and Robin, Babs started to flirt with the younger vigilante, which later would turn into a budding romance.

Tragedy would strike Barbara Gordon, while in her civilian identity, Batman's deadliest enemy - The Joker showed up on her house and shot her. The bullet hit her spine and paralyzed her from the waist down.

For months, she was depressed knowing she could no longer be a costumed crime fighter, and then she realized that she could continue fighting crime in a different avenue. She devoted most of her time to developing one of the world's most complex and powerful computer systems and set to work accumulating information, she then took the name "Oracle."

As Oracle, Barbara needed operatives to do the legwork, so she founded the team Birds of Prey. She also serves as the information broker to costumed heroes throughout DCU.

With a recent major shake-up in the DC Universe, we would see Barbara Gordon up, running, wearing her old duds and returning as Batgirl.

ANIMATED APPEARANCE/S

The Adventures of Batman
Barbara Gordon, Batgirl, made her first animated appearance in the 1968 series The Adventures of Batman. Jane Webb provided her voice. Barbara Gordon, this time working in the District Attorney's office, made several appearances in both her civilian persona and as her alter ego.

The New Adventures of Batman
The Silver Age Batgirl was a recurring supporting character on the 1977 animated series The New Adventures of Batman. The animated version of Batgirl was very similar to her comic book counterpart, boasting a costume similar to the one seen in the comics, as well as a motorcycle.

Batman: The Animated Series
The character is introduced as Barbara Gordon in the first season of Batman: The Animated Series. In the second season Commissioner Gordon is framed for corruption. Barbara contacts Batman and asks him to appear at a rally to support Gordon, but Batman declines, citing more important things to do. Barbara Gordon decides to impersonate Batman, intending only to be seen in the shadows. However, later the back of her mask would be torn, causing her hair to spill out. Media articles the next day ask the question "Who is Batgirl?”

The New Batman Adventures
In The New Batman Adventures Tara Strong voiced Batgirl. Batgirl's costume was changed to a black body suit with yellow gloves and boots to match her original comic book design.

Batman Beyond
Barbara Gordon appears in Batman: Beyond, no longer the dashing beautiful vigilante she was in her youth but a grim, bitter old woman, voiced by Angie Harmon.

The Batman
Barbara Gordon, Batgirl, appeared on The Batman animated series, voiced by Danielle Judovits.

LIVE MEDIA APPEARANCE/S

Yvonne Craig
Yvonne Craig portrayed librarian Barbara Gordon, and her alter ego Batgirl, in the third season of the Batman television series (1967–1968). Her Batgirl costume incorporated a long red wig to hide her real avocado-style, black hair.

Alicia Silverstone
Batgirl is portrayed by actress Alicia Silverstone in the 1997 movie Batman & Robin. The film's "Barbara Wilson" somewhat resembles the comics' Barbara Gordon. In the movie, Barbara is the niece of Alfred Pennyworth rather than the daughter of Commissioner Gordon. Her costume varies significantly from traditional versions, with no yellow coloring and a domino mask.

Dina Meyer
Dina Meyer plays Barbara Gordon on the WB television series, Birds of Prey. The series was loosely based on the comic book of the same name. We see Gordon here in the role of Oracle, giving information to her two operatives. In some episodes, we see her in her Batgirl costume.

Comic Book History

Who is PENGUIN?
The Penguin is Oswald Cobblepot, intelligent, rich and sophisticated who puts up a gentlemanly front, but behind closed doors he is an angered, power hungry criminal. He shows flashes of compassion sometimes, but he is dominated by a desire to be respected and to control those around him. A DC Comics villain that occasionally turns up in Batman books. The Penguin was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, and made his debut in Detective Comics #58 (December 1941).
First Appearance

Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot was bullied as a child for his short stature, obesity, and beak-like nose. Born to a rich family but after the deaths of his parents, his wealth would be repossessed to pay their debts. Carrying the hurt he suffered during his childhood, Oswald began a life of crime but keeping with his family's tradition of wealth; he executes his capers with his class and style. In keeping with his pretensions of being a refined gentleman, he also prefers to wear formal wear such as a top hat, monocle, and tuxedo during his jobs. He also brought in his life of crime the childhood alias he got, the Penguin.

Nevertheless, a life of crime in Gotham City will later have you facing the Dark Knight detective. Penguin is one of Batman's oldest members of his rogue's gallery, and apparently one of the first few criminals during the golden age of comics who was able to escape the caped crusader's clutches. However, with several more entanglement with the Bat, he cannot get lucky that often and had done his fair share of time in Arkham Asylum.

Later the Penguin turns his attentions to a new modus operandi, operating as a white-collar criminal running a restaurant and casino known the Iceberg Lounge under the front of a legitimate businessman.

Penguin also made a play to control Gotham City's criminal underworld unfortunately for him someone else snatched that position from him.

Penguin would then find himself under the "employment" of Batman as an informant, using his criminal contacts to give Batman an edge over Gotham's criminals.

Penguin would also have a short stint with the superhero group "Birds of Prey" but this was more of charade as he was working with another villain who has an item he desires.

Penguin: Origins

ANIMATED APPEARANCE/S

Adventures of Batman
The Penguin appeared in several episodes of Filmation's The Adventures of Batman animated series, which ran from 1968 to 1969. Ted Knight voices the Penguin here.

The New Adventures of Batman
In Filmation's series The New Adventures of Batman, the Penguin again made several appearances, and he is voiced by Lennie Weinrib. He frequently rolls his 'r's and laughs in a similar manner to his 1960's live portrayal counterpart.

The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians
The Penguin appeared in The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians episode "The Case of the Stolen Powers" voiced by Robert Morse. In the episode, Penguin accidentally gains Superman's superpowers, thanks to a magical mishap.

Batman: The Animated Series
In the 1992 Batman: Academy Award-winner Paul Williams voiced The Animated Series, Penguin. The look of this version of Penguin takes his cue from the recently released Batman Returns movie.

The New Batman Adventures
Paul Williams reprised his role as the Penguin in the 1997 follow-up to the original animated series, The New Batman Adventures, the Penguin returned to an appearance more like his traditional comic book look.

The Batman
Penguin appeared on the animated series: The Batman, voiced by Tom Kenny. In this continuity, the Penguin is primarily concerned with reestablishing the Cobblepot family name in society by stealing from the citizens of Gotham to rebuild his wealth. This Penguin has a deformed appearance, with red hair instead of black and more crooked teeth.

The Brave and the Bold
The Penguin is featured in The Brave and the Bold and is voiced by Stephen Root.

Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
Penguin appeared in the animated movie, Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman as the main villain, this time voiced by David Ogden Stiers.

The Batman vs. Dracula
Tom Kenny reprises voicing the Penguin in the animated movie The Batman vs. Dracula. In the movie, he accidentally resurrects Count Dracula with his blood in the Gotham cemetery. Dracula then hypnotizes the Penguin to work for him.

Burgess Meredith
Burgess Meredith played the Penguin in several episodes of the Batman television series of the 1960s. A largely campy interpretation, Meredith's performance is perhaps best remembered through his signature laugh, meant to mimic the squawk of a penguin. He reprises his Penguin role in the 1966 film entitled "Batman" alongside several other villains from the television show

Danny DeVito
In Batman Returns, the Penguin was portrayed by Danny DeVito, and is one of the main antagonists of the film. Director Tim Burton re-imagined the character not as an eloquent gentleman of crime, but a physically deformed murdering psychopath with a homicidal grudge against Gotham City.

Comic Book History

Who is POISON IVY?
Poison Ivy is a DC Comics super-villain and eco-terrorist with the ability to control plants. She originally was botanist Pamela Isley until an accident gave her powers and turned her insane. Protecting the sanctity and supremacy of nature at all costs, she sadistically lashes out against humanity as blight upon the planet. Robert Kanigher and Sheldon Moldoff, first appearing in Batman #181, created Poison Ivy. (1966)
First Appearance

Pamela Isley grew up wealthy with emotionally distant parents. She studied advanced botanical biochemistry. Her professor, who injects Isley with poisons and toxins as an experiment, causing her transformation, easily seduces Isley, a timid, shy girl. She nearly dies twice as a result from these poisonings, driving her insane. Enraged at the betrayal, she suffers from violent mood swings, being sweet one moment and evil the next.

She turned to a life of crime by threatening people with her newfound ability of controlling plant-life, her poison touch, and the ability to make individuals to do her bidding due to the pheromones she releases.

On their first meeting, Batman was able to resist Poison Ivy and thwart her schemes, which led her to be incarcerated in Arkham Asylum. Batman's resistance to her lead to some kind of obsession to Poison Ivy.

Although she would later escape the asylum, but with her frequent tussle with Batman, she always find herself back behind bars.

After another escape from Arkham, she decided to leave Gotham and settle on a desert island in the Caribbean. She molded the barren wasteland into a second Eden, and was, for the first time in her life, happy. However, the island was soon firebombed by an American-owned corporation that tested their weapons systems in Ivy's island which they thought was uninhabited. Ivy then returned to Gotham with vengeance on her mind, punishing those responsible. After willing apprehension by Batman, she resolved that she could never leave Gotham, at least not until the world was safe for plants. From then on, she dedicated herself to the impossible mission of purifying the most polluted city in America, Gotham City.

Poison Ivy is good friends with Harley Quinn. Unlike most villain team-ups, their partnership seems to be genuinely rooted in friendship, and Ivy really wants to save Harley from her abusive relationship with The Joker.

Recently the duo added a third for their group, Catwoman, and they became known as the Gotham Sirens.

ANIMATED APPEARANCE/S
Batman: The Animated Series
The animated series introduces Poison Ivy as a botanist who works for a cosmetics company developing new fragrances. When she sees then DA Harvey Dent destroy an endangered plant during the groundbreaking ceremony for Stone Gate Prison, he becomes the first object of her evil affections. After almost killing Dent with her poisonous lipstick, she is apprehended by Batman. This incident with Dent causes a great rift between Ivy and Two Face, who has a great animosity toward her. She is known to have an occasional partnership/friendship with Harley Quinn. She is not liked by the various members of the rogues gallery, but is greatly respected.

The New Batman Adventures
In The New Batman Adventures, her look was updated to be more plant-like, her skin turning grayish-white. Ivy also became more humorous and seductive in personality, coinciding with her genuinely friendly relationship with Harley Quinn. Her fanatical mindset regarding the despoiling of plants and the ecosphere was also greatly reduced. She supposedly dies in a shipwreck in the episode "Chemistry".

Static Shock
She survived the shipwreck and returns in the Static Shock episode "Hard As Nails" with Diane Pershing reprising her role. She and Harley open a "support and cure" website that would lure female metahumans to Gotham claiming that it is a clinic to cure metahumans.

The Batman
Piera Coppola voiced Poison Ivy in The Batman animated TV show. In this incarnation, Poison Ivy is a high school student and environmental activist, but she was also Barbara Gordon's best friend. Prior to her first appearance, she was sentenced to a youth detention center repeatedly for delinquent acts during her protests. During one of her acts of protest, a plant mutagen falls on her, when she awoke in an ambulance afterwards she began manifesting powers of psionic plant control, and an ability to exhale mind-controlling spores when she blows a kiss at her desired target. She swiftly turns her powers to furthering her ecoterrorist career, and takes the name Poison Ivy.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Poison Ivy appears in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold, in this series Ivy appears among other villains in an auction for a supersonic weapon held by arms dealer Joe Chill. Poison Ivy later appears in the teaser of "The Mask of Matches Malone!". She and her army of henchwomen (whom she dubs her "Flower Children") kidnap Batman, and Ivy tries to seduce him into becoming her king.

UMA THURMAN
Uma Thurman played Poison Ivy in the film Batman & Robin. This version of Poison Ivy started out as Dr. Pamela Isley, botanist, working for Wayne Enterprises' arboreal preservation project. She was conducting animal-plant crossbreeding experiments when a superior attacked her, leading her to crash to shelves lined with beakers containing plant-based toxins and chemicals. Her aggressor throws more of the same stuffs upon her, hoping that she will die upon being infused with so many plant toxins and chemicals; instead, Pamela is unwittingly transformed into a stunningly beautiful woman who is part human, part plant, and totally poisonous.

POWERS & ABILITIES

Chlorokinesis: Semi-mystical connection to the plant world through a force called the Green. She can control plants with her mind.

Toxic Immunity: Immunity to all toxins, bacteria, and viruses

Toxikinesis: a deliberate overdose of plant and animal based toxins into her blood stream that make her touch deadly. Ivy can create the most potently powerful floral toxins in Gotham City. Often these are secreted from her lips and administered via a kiss. They come in a number of varieties, from mind controlling drugs to instantly fatal necrotics. Her skin is toxic as well, although contact with it is usually not fatal.

Pheromone Control: Ivy is known to be able to seduce men and women alike, often using pheromones to do so but even without the pheromones, her beauty is still an asset that can seduce.

Abilities
Botanist: Expertise in botany. She specializes in creating new plant species and plant/animal hybrids

Toxicologist: expert in toxicology.

Proficient Combatant: Poison Ivy's athletic abilities have grown over the course of her career. She has learned a limited style of martial arts fighting, is proficient at climbing and leaping, and is a strong and fast swimmer.
