I saw a strange sight on my way to work this morning. On the left side of US Highway 69 North there was a guy, looked to be in his late teens or early twenties holding a sign steady. I'm not talking poster size sign either. This looked like a full sheet of plywood with two 4x4 wooden posts holding it aloft. The stark white background held enormous bright red letters that read "I'm Sorry Kelsey!" I really wanted to take a picture but at highway speeds it wasn't really possible to dig for my phone and fire up the camera.

If I could have stopped to have a chat I would have asked him what he had done and in turn let him know if all that sign work and the humiliation of the carloads of passing onlookers was really worth it. Sometimes "I'm Sorry" won't cut it no matter how BIG it is.

Peanut Butter Frosting!!!

1/2 cup butter
1 cup creamy peanut butter
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup cream
Directions
In a large bowl, beat butter and peanut butter until light and fluffy. Slowly beat in 1/2 of the confectioner's sugar. Mix in 1/4 cup of the cream. Beat in the remaining confectioners' sugar. If necessary, add a little more cream or milk until the frosting reaches a good spreading consistency. Makes enough to frost one 2 layer 9 inch cake or one 9x13 inch cake.

Moving right along...

So the last one didn't work out so great... no big fights or anything just a difference in vision and values. Keeping my chin up and my hopes high and having fun along the way.

I've got one who loves movies as much as I do and is sweet enough to let me tag along. We've seen like Colombiana, Horrible Bosses, The Help, Contagion, Apollo 18, and Drive so far. He's alright but he talks too much and fidgets an awful lot. But he buys me popcorn and drinks so I can't complain...much. Romantically I don't think it'll go anywhere really but he's fun. Just moved back from living elsewhere for many years. He doesn't know many folks here yet so I'm doing my best to be a neighborly good friend.

The other that I've been spending most of my free time with has been sort of an off and on presence in my life over the course of this past year. In the beginning he was a bit immature but he's done quite a bit of growing up. A couple of failed relationships... one of which stole his truck. He's working pretty steadily, when his family feels like taking him to work. I really like him. He's funny and sweet, and so much smarter than people give him credit for. So far I've met his mom and one of his sisters (along with the bro-in-law and niece) but that was only recently. We'll see where this leads.

Nice thing about making a relationship official on the first day of the month is you always know when that "anniversary" is. I know it's not the REAL anniversary but still... even at thirty-two I still keep up with silly stuff like that.

There's no tangible proof of salvation. Praying a prayer without meaning it does no good. It's personal.

How many people actually look up words like sanctification and consecrated? Without knowing what it means we can't feel it.

A symbolic act means nothing without feeling and knowing why your doing it. It's just juice and crackers. But based on the symbolic nature you could just as well use beer and pizza. The tangible is not as important.

a faith back from near-death

I'm starting to think God's playing catch-up with me. I strayed for so long it's like I have to take summer school. But I do hear Him, see His hand all around me. Jamming my head with thoughts so fast I barely have time to think them. No longer are His lessons obscure. I'm starting to understand them in everything I do and see.

I sliced my thumb preparing a meal & had plenty of leftovers. 2 days later reheating for another meal made me remember the pain I went thru making it. Almost made me not want to eat it. But there's no sense in throwing it out. Applied to my life - that means something. My "tuner" is finally set to the right "station" again & it's so loud! But I'm not afraid. A bit in awe perhaps. More than once today I've had to stop & just say "wow."

I close my eyes to sleep at night & the devil tries to tempt me with images of things I use to delight in. Quick as I can I tell myself "eyes on the cross" & it's like I had been staring at a cross on fire or glowing neon & suddenly closed my eyes shut tight. The image stayed. Faintly glowing on the inside of my eyelids is the shape of a cross. On this I concentrate until I fall asleep.
