WOW! It has snowed over 55 inches in the DC area this year. This will make us really appreciate the spring. It's been a great year so far business is holding steady but I still need more growth. I've stepped up on the marketing and fortunately it is paying off.

"I am rich, I am wealthy, I am focused, I am determined, I am a millionaire!!!!"

This is the mantra that I created about 6 years ago when I was an employee in the computer field. I would say it to myself, under my breath while at work. I would say it out loud over and over and over again in the car driving to and from work. Sometimes I would be in the car yelling.... I wonder if people driving next to me thought I was crazy??

Over a period of weeks and then months, I said it so many times that I could instantly change my mind set and my emotions and visualize myself being a millionaire.

A few months later, I quite my full time job, left my IT career and jumped full time into my own business....the Pressed4Time franchise. Is this mantra the reason for such a bold move? I'm sure it had something to do with it.

To this day, 6 years later, I can change my attitude on a dime by reciting this phrase. I can go from feeling like quiting to approaching a complete stranger in the elevator about trying my dry cleaning delivery service.

It is a technique that I learned from the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. It is called Auto Suggestion and works very well.

Marketing on My Mind

It's been a busy day doing accounting and paperwork. Sometimes I get so bogged down with the administrative stuff that it is a challenge to find time for what I really love.....MARKETING!!

You wouldn't have believed that I could love marketing 6 years ago when I bought my Pressed4Time franchise. I was terrified about cold calling. I got the shakes and the sweats and sometimes just got back into the van and drove away and went home with out making the call.

It got easier and easier the more calls I made until it became second nature and quite enjoyable.

Today, I absolutely love meeting new people. I love the opportunity to tell everyone about our service. This is what I want to do more than anything...market, market, market.

It is key to any business success. Here are a few good books I recommend for anyone interested in sales and marketing:

"How I Raised Myself From Failure To Success In Selling" by Frank Bettger

"The Greatest Salesman in the World" by Og Mandingo

"The One Minute Sales Person" by Spencer Johnson

And the best thing is....you don't have to be a smooth talker, overly confident, pushy kind of a person.

Just be honest, sincere, and nice. I remember hearing that nice guys finish last......BOLONGNA!! (someone needs to change the spelling of this word...what I am passionately saying in my brain and how this word is spelled just don't go together :)

Nice guys are the best salesman in the world. People buy from those that they trust. Make sure that you genuinely take care of your customers like they are precious gems...because they are.

I believe that if I can take good care of more people, I will make my millions.

The Redskins finally won a game. I am a BIG Redskins fan and I am raising my son to be one too. It's not working because he has a new favorite team every week. He's only 6.

Last month was my best sales month since owning my Pressed4Time franchise. This feels pretty good because business is growing in the mist of this economy.

The amazing thing is I know I can do even better if I step up my marketing efforts. The drive to do this comes and goes.

Reading is one way that gets me motivated enough to take action. Currently I am reading the book "The Master Key To Riches" by Napoleon Hill and I am getting revved up again. Also I've been watching the TV show "I Want To Work For Diddy 2" on VH1 Monday nights and it is stirring me up as well. I love to study successful people in action.

The weekend is over and I Gotta get my mind prepared for Monday. I am looking forward to taking another step towards my millions.

Where I am now

I currently own a Mobile Dry Cleaning service called Pressed4Time. We offer FREE pick up and delivery of your personal dry cleaning, shoe repair and alterations.

My territory is in Northern Virginia about 10 minutes outside of Washington, DC.

February will be 6 years in business. I feel pretty good about making past the 5 year mark for a start up business to continue on to success.

Fortunately the market in the area is doing well despite the suffering economy.

The key is to keep marketing when everyone else wants to throw in the towel and take very good care of your current customer base.

How is this beneficial to my quest for millions of dollars? I've learned persistence, persistence, persistence.

I remember and interview with Tom Brady, Patriots quarterback, a couple years ago. He said he attributes his success to persistence. He never stops trying to win.

I experienced some pretty extreme financial set backs over the years, almost to the point where I couldn't see how I was going to stay in business and support my family and questioned if I wanted to keep going. It seemed easier to just go get a full time job again. But like Tom Brady, I got up every morning and went to work regardless of the circumstance. I just went to work, and praise God big things would eventually happen.

This habit has allowed me to recover from the financial struggles and remain in business today and continue to grow. I am no where near my millions but am slowly heading in the right direction.

Slowly is not good enough anymore. Now I am ready to speed things up and quit playing around.

The Beginning

Hello. Am I really doing this? My first blog, my first blog entry. Please be patient with me while I get going with this.

I have a quest to become a self-made millionaire.

My name is Greg and I've added the nickname Millions. So I call myself Greg Millions. It reminds me of who I am going to become.....a millionaire.

I don't want to become a millionaire just for the money. I am not a very materialistic person at all.

I want to be a millionaire because of the character that I will have built to reach such a status.

Hardworking, smart-working, focused, determined, persistent and even when the times got really low and tough I never ever ever ever ever quit.
