Apo Island Adventure

It's been awhile since the last time I had my vacation. When Gayee my roommate before told us that she and her office mates will go to Apo Island... Mara, Jack and I decided to join their team..the more the merrier! right!? Unfortunately Jack backed out on the very last minute.

We started the trip going to Dumaguete at dawn, Gayee and her friends took the 3am bus going to Liloan port and I just join them at Carcar. We arrived at Liloan port at around 6am then we took the fast craft going to Sibulan Port. And Negros here we are!!!!! Since we are now a group of seven, we tried to haggle for a multicab ( locally called easy ride) going to Malatapay, the jump off point to Apo Island. Luckily we were able to get a multicab for Php 800 and we just picked up Mara along the way.

Malatapay is the jumped off point for Apo Island. My friend's friend had contacted a boatman ahead so we just register at the coastguard counter while waiting for our boat. The boat is Php 3,000 good for 10 persons.

The water in the shoreline is quiet deep (just around your waist plus the waves, it would reach until your chest), before you can hop in to your boat you're already wet. The travel towards Apo Island is a little bit shaky, waves splashed left and right(sort of exaggerated but it's true). But you don't have to worry about your personal belongings and gadgets that might get wet because the boatmen would secure it first.

At Apo Island you have to pay for a registration of Php 100 for local tourists and Php 25 for Negros Orienal residents.

What to do at Apo Island

Before you can go swimming with the turtles, you have to pay for a guide at Php 300 good for 4 persons plus 100 for snorkel mask and 100 for life vest. In our case they allow us with only 1 guide so we divided the Php 300 by 7..(tipid...)

Am not a swimmer and I don't even know how to swim..thanks to the one who invented the "salbabida" I enjoyed swimming with the turtles. I wasn't really expecting that the turtles are that big..(first time ko)

Lots of colorful fishes and corals can be seen just on the shore of the island.

There are other activities that the Island has to offer. On our way back to Dumaguete, there were groups who were preparing for Diving. You can also trek to the Island's Lighthouse, got carried by the waves towards the shore. Other's opt for an overnight stay at the island's resorts or do camping at the shore.

Am not sure if other locals would accept guest for an overnight stay but some locals would serve lunch/dinner at an affordable price.

Since we were afraid that the waves would grew bigger in the afternoon, we agreed with the boatmen that we would return to Dumaguete at 2:00pm. And we have to find for a place to stay in Dumaguete as well. We were able to hire a tricycle from Malatapay to Harold's Mansion where the driver charge us of Php 50/person.

Fortunately, Harold's Mansion has vacant room. We took the suite room and add extra person for Php 1,775 which we divide to ourselves. It's a spacious, air condition room with free breakfast. After we had freshen up, it's time to explore the City of Dumaguete...

I've seen eggs, chicks, hens and roosters for long but seeing an egg cracked then a tiny creature creep out is something that I wanted to witness personally. And yes, the child in me came to life. I spent like a day waiting for the chick to completely came out of the shell.

Chicks were supposed to hatched in the 21st day of incubation. Incubation can be a natural process(the hen would stay on the nest for 21 days) or with the help of an incubator.

Minutes after..hola! the chick is out...

After 10 long years we were able to gather, meet up and talk about our lives. Our lives after we get out from the portals of our Alma matter. Surprisingly most of us are the same, way back then,,just got the sense of maturity though.

Others have their own families, some are just starting and the remaining are still planning...

We had a two-part reunion held in near resorts for the convenient of everybody. First part was at Ruvi Cave in Minglanilla. Here are some pictures of the attendees:

Had watched a health oriented show, showcasing the newest way to cure our illnesses in a natural way. That is what they call naturopathic cure. This would even cure cancer in a non surgical way....hmmm..that sounds music to my ear then. It starts with the diet to detoxify once body from the toxic that we got due to unhealthy lifestyle. Once your body is detoxified then the natural nutrients of the food that we take will be absorbed quickly by our body and will be able to serve its purpose. The secret is eat the fruit and veggies raw.....happy eating everyone!

Here comes the hardest question than any major major examinations. To admit that we commit mistakes. Human as we are, we do commit mistakes but who is willing to shout to the whole that we do commit it? Just watched videos on youtube of interviews of some persons who were asked of the same question"what is the biggest mistake that you've done in your life?" and I'd come to realize how hard it is. hmmm....Honesty is the best policy!

Exploring Argao's beauty

In spite of all the hindrances along the way, the scheduled trip down south was realized. After 2hours of bus ride, we reached the municipality of Argao, which is my grandmother's hometown. It was 8pm, so we took our dinner(thanks to gayee for the dinner) and start exploring Argao . Here's some of the pics...

The following day was a tiresome one, Wil did not report on her review class for us to continue our tour( just laag laag mode). We started our day late and our first stop was the Riverstone Castle.

So much for the castle's pictures, let's go to the nature park, where they offer outdoor activities like sue slide, wall climbing and boating at a very affordable prices. They also has mini zoo which shows some of the local animals in town. They also have kiosk which is suitable for picnics. Each kiosks has the sign:

just a little bit trivia..this was squatters area before, got burned & the local gov't. create houses for the fire victims as their relocation just near the bay walk area.

I was on my home & I overheard the news on the radio. For quite sometime, I'm not hearing abut this issue(am not reading newspaper nor watching news reports recently...) and today it disturbs me lot. This is a very sensitive issue about the lives taken on Maguindanao massacre. Under our law as long as the person is not accused, he is still considered innocent. I may not have the enough power to fight for it, but my faith is strong enough that we can get justice for it.
I am praying for the justice to prevail & that the people who are entrusted to implement justice will do the right thing in God's way.
I am praying that the lawyers will be enlightened by the Holy Spirit that they will not just do their job, instead do it in God's way. And they will be blinded with the glitters of gold to cover everything fishy.

It's been a while since we where planning this Bohol tour. It had been postponed many times for variety of reasons. But last July 25-26, 2009, even though we were threatened by bad weather, the trip goes on.

First destination, of course Tagbilaran Port.

As we were welcome by the kuya(wearing green shirt) our tour guide.

The group then proceed to Sandugo Shrine. Hahayz, if only the statue can speak for themseves, they had possibly told us not to come back.
And since we were getting hungry by now, we did proceed to Loboc River floating restaurant. It was fun and exciting. Who would forgot those lost chicken and barbeques...

Of course I didn't forgot to vist my cousins here.

And this the most exciting part of the tour...go luspad with the hanging bridge..

Last Saturday morning, our country had lost the greatest symbol of democracy. It wasn't that surprising though, because its been months that she had been seriously ill. It just sad that one of the strongest woman had lost her life. Goodbye Cory and may you Rest in Peace!

Since it was late and and raining and i need to get back for my early morning shift, I just told them i will be back and visit her "haya".

once in awhile its better have time for mother earth...together with mommy Ivy, we did mangrove planting on the shore of lapulapu city. it was indeed a nice experience inspite of the knee high deep mud that we need to cross to plant those mangroves. Soon those mangroves will serve as breeding places of the fishes.

5 days passed sinced the incident and we don't have updates yet.
I'm afraid thst he wasn't able to get out from the ship when it
turned upside down. Inspite of that, we need to be positive and
pray that he is still alive.

Concerned parties please do understand how the kins of the
victims feel right now. Please provide us constant updates
on the event and not blame each other. Blaming each other is
