I could not see myself @ work at all as only a trip to the loo first thing has proven to be a challenge.
I have iced the knee all day and kept it straight up on the sofa... Been on the net all day and only time that I had walked was to get some water. I was hoping that by 4pm I would see a slight improvement, but nope, as soon as I attempted to stand up and walk - the pain has pierced entire leg and hips.
Decided to definitely got A&E and get a second opinion. Got there just after 5 (after Tim had picked Meda up from afterschool club) and it wasn't long till I got seen.
Doc has checked the leg and knees and he said that most likely that the injury was caused by me putting too much strain on the legs ( starting to run 5k straight on a hard surface outside maybe wasn't the best idea). He also said that I may position my legs incorrectly when running which then puts a lot of pressure on the knees hence the injury.
I didn't really understand what he was on about most of the time, but all I know that there is no ligament damage and all hamstrings are fine so he said that I should be pain free in couple of weeks in which I should ensure that I don't train at all.
I am thinking going swimming to build up a muscle round the knees; well maybe just support and strengthen the muscles round the knees and then introduce a bit of jogging now and then.... Hope to be back in the game in 3 -4 weeks time =]
I am feeling relieved, that there is nothing serious and frustrated that my doctor is obviously completely useless and talks poop just to ensure that I shut up and get out from his office sooner than later so he can finish work. Fair enough, I saw him 5 PM on a Monday night, but in all fairness he is getting paid VERY well for what he does so I would really appreciate if he could provide a competent and fair answer. And if he doesn't know what is wrong with me ( it is OK not to know about everything) - please, just refer me to someone who does!

Anyways, rant over! I have been seen and I am OK. So, no doubt I will be back in the game sooner than later my lovely people! You wont get rid of me so easy! I am deffo going to stick with this and complete the RFL 2011 and raise as much moneys as I possibly can to help those in need!

Lots of love

Angry even.

We ran at the Parkrun this Saturday just gone and I was beating my personal best. I had done 2 laps on just under 21 minutes so I had a good chance of getting 5k run done in 30 mins! That would have been my personal best from 34:09mins. However, as soon as we started the 3rd lap I had felt my knee going funny and sore. As we stopped and I carried on walking the rest of the lap it just got worse and I ended up limping about.
I had finished my 5k in just over 38mins. Considering that I had walked the last lap with a sore leg I think I may have done OK ..... haha!
As soon as I got home I had a nap cos I was rather annoyed, angry and even teary and once I had woken up I did put some ice on it etc. It has gotten worse by then.
I had spent all weekend pretty much in pain and limping so I went to see my GP today and they said that I will not bee allowed to run for at least 6 months! I was a bit surprised by such a statement when he couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong with the knee. He said that I may not even be able to walk it.
Now I am sorry, but that is load of poop. There is no way that I will cancel my sponsorship for RFL 2011! I had spoken to people and they just said to rest the knee for couple of weeks and I should be OK.
I think I may be going for a swim at the weekend, just to strengthen the muscles round the knee etc so I hope to be fit enough to run again in couple of weeks.
I really hope that this blimming pain goes away soon as it is very annoying and is slowing me down lots. I had walked home from work and distance that I normally takes me 10 mins took me over 30 mins today. I am very frustrated as I dont seem to be fit enough to do the housework etc ( and I am not using this as an excuse - promise) ...

Well.... I will have to see how it goes and I hope it will get better soon so I can run the RFL. If not - I will make sure that I will walk it! =]

I have finally done it!

I have been out of contact for a while and I am sorry to have not provided an update. I had lots going on and was very busy with college work, travelling to London (twice in 2weeks), watching Lion King and having my little girls 7th birthday. I sure have been a little busy bee =] in fact not so sure if that little ... haha!

However - I have some fab news - I have finally started training - I have ran 5k now twice - thanks to @kilnockers AKA Sarah Gray; she has persuaded me to come to the Norwich Parkrun in Eaton park for 9AM Saturday.

I have to say - I have not been impressed the first time I had attended - it was cold and windy, but I braved it and ran. And then walked. And then ran again... oh dear, what a chore was that?! I was huffing and puffing all the way and was completely out of breath. We nearly got outrun by 2 ladies in their 50's and it just shown me how unfit I am.

First time I managed to finish in 34:09 mins and was 180th out of 188 people that ran that morning. Wasn't very impressed to start with, but I have received a lot of support and encouraging from people around me and once I had time to chill out I realized that I had actually done rather well - at least by not giving up and carrying on to run. I felt a lot better for it later and had a very high sense of achievement which then has motivated me to carry on and run again next week!

Don't even ask how I felt few days after the run - I could not walk! I then started to have my doubts if I want to repeat the run!

The proof that I RAN!!! Not the most flattering

photo of me I must admit! haha!

However, by the following Saturday the pain had gone and I felt fine, but as soon as I got to the park it started to rain and it had rained all night before so it was all wet and horrible. I still went ahead ran. I felt a lot better for it and done first 2 laps within 24 minutes, however the third lap I was so tired and out of breath that I had to walk most of it. That unfortunately brought my time down to 34:24mins. I am still within 24 mins bracket which is OK and considering the rain I think I have done well. This time I was 167th out of 182 runners in total. Still towards the end, but with a slight improvement :)

I was supposed to run few times this week, but it seems that there is always something that comes up or gets in the way. I am hoping that next week I will have more time to spare so can run in between Saturdays!

I am actually looking forward to tomorrow, even though I do honestly hate running, it makes me feel good after and I feel that I had done something worthy and useful with my time! =]

I am also looking to find a local gym that could sponsor me while training for the mighty RFL and let me train in their facilities. That way I could improve my fitness and maybe even give up smoking for RFL in May.

I have been all over the place this week.

From being happy and content to falling to pieces and getting moody and all soppy ( like most women do at the time of the month) to feeling all happy again! It sure was one of a roller coaster and I am feeling a bit tired from all of this mush mash of the feelings! Need some time to recover just like from a massive hangover! hahaha!

It didn't help the situation that me and my partner have bought some flat packed furniture - IE bed, chest of draws and sliding door double wardrobe... Well that has proven to be an utter nightmare - I HATE YOU HOMEBASE!!! Grrr! I have never thought that something could be such a pain in the butt! Bed is now done, chest of draws is fine..... but the wardrobe..... oh, Dear!!!! If I slide the door - the whole wardrobe slides with it!!! I have not ever seen anything as poor as that piece of furniture! And we have followed the instructions thoroughly..... I promise! We have been up with it since Saturday evening till 6am on Sunday! no more flat packing for me please! No mass!

Forgetting this disaster I had gone to the #curryfest with lovely people of Twitter on Sunday and had the best night that I have had in quite some time now! :) I had promised @kilnockers that I will be going running to Eaton Park on Saturday ( Which is tomorrow) and I am really looking forward to it! However I had something come up for next couple of weeks that I wont have childcare for this time Saturday AM so gonna have to give it a miss.. =[ Gutted doesn't cover my disappointment!

However when it comes to training I have to say that I have now started eating healthier and increased amount of walking I do everyday as I know I should start proper training for the RFL 2011. I am now taking stairs at work rather than use a lift and if I need to go to town 9or anywhere) I ensure that I walk faster than normal.... few times I did break a sweat so I believe that is surely works! :)

Will be starting to run or go for walks in the evening now too cos I have noticed the difference from walking more as it makes me feel a lot healthier and upbeat, so I am thinking of implementing this in may routine and at least get some exercise that way! :)

Hope you all will have a lovely weekend as I am off out tonight ( wont be drinking cos skint, but will ensure that will be dancing loads to burn the calories!) :)

Much Love xxxx

Happy Monday!

Good Morning people!

It is Monday and shockingly I am @ work by 8:15 am. This is not heard of! :)

As I was laying in my cosy bed this morning I was thinking that there is no way that anyone would drag me out of this warm and snugly little hut until I MUST get up. However I have spent most of my weekend in bed ( Sleeping - no dirty thoughts! =]) I then thought that I should make an effort and get motivated to get my big butt out of the bed and do things! Enough sleeping and lazying about - at the end of the day - that is what weekend are for! :)

So there I am, up at work ( waiting for emails to work and spreadsheets to eventually open up) with a nice cup of coffee and my sexy Chanel glasses on ready to ROCK ON! :)

So far - I am in a good mood so I really am hoping that it will last until later tonight so I can get started on my training! I had a naughty food weekend with the agenda of starting my training for Race For Life tonight so lets see if motivation or laziness will win over tonight!

Have a lovely day peeps!

HAPPY MONDAY =]

Where do I start!?

I have been thinking about doing this for a while, but never really had courage to commit to it. Thankfully, some lovely ladies on Twitter mentioned it to me and I have agreed to finally go for it - my first Race for Life charity run! I cant fit it in words how excited I am and how I am looking forward to this!

Just by signing up it had already made my day and made me feel a better person! Let alone the amazing feeling for when I complete the race!

I am excited about many things, starting from the actual cause and raising monies to help those with cancer and their families at that difficult time; followed by the celebration of those who has been lost to this terrible illness and finally about meeting all lovely people and participating in such an amazing cause.

I have had several friends who had lost their family members to a breast cancer and I know that it means a lot to them to see other peoples effort to help ones in need. I have already received a lot of support and encouragement from friends and family for doing this and I hope that it will continue as my motivation levels are hitting the roof at the moment! I wish that I could raise £500 to start with however ideally I would like to be closer to a £1000 mark...

I have my own Just Giving sponsorship page, however I am also participating in NoRaceChicks group ( ladies that I had mentioned earlier that encouraged me to sign up) therefore if you wish to support me, or our group - feel free to support and sponsor either - it all goes for the same cause in the end! :)

I may be a little bit selfish that I am using this cause for personal reasons too...

I am struggling with my post Christmas flab and I thought that it would be a great way to get back in a shape as I am no where close as toned and fit that I should be and think that peoples donations would encourage me to perform better at the race ( meaning that I would need to train a lot more) :)

When it comes to motivation for training I am ... well... useless.... haha! While I am sat at the office desk at work I am all up for training, however as soon as I get home I just flob on the couch and cant be bothered to do any exercise at all! Instead - I just eat loads of junk and drink loads of tea or coffee... And then, the next morning I curse myself for being useless.....

So there is one more thing apart of raising the money for this lovely charity that I hope that would happen - is to get myself in to the habit of eating healthier and exercising regularly to beat all the flab that I have :) hi hi hi....

I shall keep this blog updated weekly and let you know how I am getting on and what was my exercise plan and if I was naughty with my food ( again) so please Please PLEASE - tell me off !

Lots of love to all and hope that you will support me in this by sponsoring me :)

Mwah!
