Nikon began as Nippon Kogaku in 1917. That was when three of Japan’s leading producers of optical equipment joined forces to expand their line of optical goods. In 1946, the company manufactured its first camera, using the brand name Nikon. Soon Nikon became synonymous with quality, Today, Nikon produces several types of products, but is best known for its cameras—including the Nikon Coolpix 8800 digital camera.
The essence of what makes the Coolpix 8800 “cool” is the precision and crispness of it images. It is armed with an innovative charge-coupled device (CCD) that uses 8.0 effective megapixels to create images with an amazingly ultra-high resolution of (3,264 x 2,448) pixels. Even after photos have been cropped, extremely high definition is still feasible!
In addition, the 8800’s special image processing technology creates more lifelike shots. The Matrix Auto White Balance counterbalances color variations that surrounding sources of light create. Also, the 256-segement matrix metering system allows for premium exposures in any lighting environment. These two sophisticated features allow slight variances, color, and details to be consistently duplicated with each shot.
The D-lighting function also improves images that are taken in shadow or with intense back lighting. Without harming the areas in the image that are exposed correctly, D-lighting repairs backlit and underexposed photos.
However, when lighting is insufficient, attach the Nikon speedlight flash to the camera’s top. ?this flash includes several modes.
The Coolpix 8800 digital camera furthermore has the tools to create quality shots from various distances. For faraway shots, use the 10x zoom, which has the equivalent power of a 35mm lens. You can also use the camera’s macro feature to shoot subjects up to 1.2 inches (3 centimeters) away!

Today, General Imaging launched its anticipated line of GE digital cameras.
This new line totaling 8 cameras is the first time the GE brand has been used on a consumer camera. Every camera offers the advanced features that we see in a lot of cameras these days. This includes image stabilization, red-eye removal, high ISO sensitivity, and panoramic stitching.
First off is the A Series of cameras. The most affordable of the bunch, these cameras are made for first-time buyers and offers the minimum. The E Series is for those who have had more experience with cameras. As with most average cameras on the market, cameras in this series offer a wide 3inch screen and 4x optical zoom. Socotra Island

Socotra is a small Yemeni archipelago of four islands and islets in the Indian Ocean off the coast of the Horn of Africa, about 350 kilometers south of the Arabian peninsula.

Socotra is one of the most isolated landforms on Earth of continental origin.

The archipelago features narrow coastal plains, a limestone plateau with caves, and mountains which rise to 1,525 meters above sea level.

Like the Galapagos Islands, this island is teeming with 700 extremely rare species of flora and fauna, a full 1/3 of which are endemic, i.e. found nowhere else on Earth.

A Dragon’s Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari) is seen in front of the Skund mountains on the island of Socotra, Yemen. The tree is so named because any injury to the bark results in a deep red liquid excreting from the scar – compared in the past to the “Blood of Dragons”.

The branches spread out into the sky and from below appear to hover over the landscape like so many flying saucers… and from above they have a distinct mushroom look.

According to evolutionists and geologists, diamonds were formed about 1–3 billion years ago, that’s way earlier than any known record of even the Earth’s first land plants let alone coal. Coal, known as a fossil fuel is formed from the dead remains of vegetation like trees, ferns and other plants and life. The formation of coal takes millions of years and can be traced back to 300 to 400 million years ago, but not a billion years. So, how again are diamonds supposed to have formed from coal that didn’t even exist then? They didn’t.

Natural diamonds, the hardest substance known to man require very high temperatures (ranging from 900 to 1300 on the Celsius scale) and pressure that exists only at depths of 87 to 120 miles (140 to 190 kilometers) in the Earth’s mantle to form. Unlike other gems which are formed by a combination of elements, diamonds are made up of one single element- Carbon. Carbon-containing minerals present in the Earth at those depths, crystallize to form diamonds because of the immense pressure together with the heat from molten magma.

The diamond crystals are then transported to the surface during deep-source volcanic eruptions in the magma. This is quite a rare occurrence as diamonds are formed at depths usually 3-4 times deeper than that at which normal volcanoes originate. However, when this magma cools, it forms igneous rocks known as kimberlites (named after the diamond-bearing region of Kimberly, South Africa where these rocks were first identified) and lamproites, used as an indicator that diamonds may be found in that area.

The Kimberlites form narrow pipe shaped fissures which are also referred to as diamond pipes. The most prominent kimberlites are located in South Africa and Central Africa which roughly contributes for 49% of the natural diamonds mined in the World.

Coal is an amorphous form of carbon and at the most can change its chemical composition and transform into its nearly purest form which is Graphite but not diamond. The conversion of coal into diamond is almost impossible due to its impurities and the fact that coal is rarely buried to depths greater than two miles (1.2 kilometers) which is not conducive to the formation of diamonds.

Chinese archaeologists have found a tiny Swiss watch in a tomb dating back to the Ming dynasty, which they believed has been intact for four centuries.

The watch was discovered by scientists making a documentary, reports ananova.com website.

The out-of-time piece of jewellery was pressed into the soil covering one of the coffins.

The watch is stopped at 10:06, and there is the word “Swiss” on its back.

Work at the archaeological site has been suspended and experts from Beijing have been called in to help solve this mystery, which appears to belong in a sci-fi flick.

British inventor Sir James Dyson, known as the developer of the no bag vacuum cleaner and the air blade hand dryer has a new invention on his hands, a home fan that lacks blades.

The Dyson Air Multiplier is said to use 98% less energy then a standard air conditioner and incorporates the same technology as the Airblade hand-dryer. The Dyson fan looks like a magnifying glass with a ring perched on top of a solid base. The energy efficient brushless motor is housed within the base from where it draws air into the unit. From here, the air makes it’s way up the base until in leaves the fan through gaps within the ring itself. The indoor fan is capable of moving 27 liters of air per second.
Some of the advantages of the fan include that it is energy efficient and that it lacks blades so there is no risk of young kids hurting themselves. The main drawback of the Dyson bladeless fan will be price as this unit will retail for $300, at least 10 times more then what a basic fan sells for.
