Camera

Nikon began as Nippon Kogaku in 1917. That was when three of Japan’s leading producers of optical equipment joined forces to expand their line of optical goods. In 1946, the company manufactured its first camera, using the brand name Nikon. Soon Nikon became synonymous with quality, Today, Nikon produces several types of products, but is best known for its cameras—including the Nikon Coolpix 8800 digital camera.
The essence of what makes the Coolpix 8800 “cool” is the precision and crispness of it images. It is armed with an innovative charge-coupled device (CCD) that uses 8.0 effective megapixels to create images with an amazingly ultra-high resolution of (3,264 x 2,448) pixels. Even after photos have been cropped, extremely high definition is still feasible!
In addition, the 8800’s special image processing technology creates more lifelike shots. The Matrix Auto White Balance counterbalances color variations that surrounding sources of light create. Also, the 256-segement matrix metering system allows for premium exposures in any lighting environment. These two sophisticated features allow slight variances, color, and details to be consistently duplicated with each shot.
The D-lighting function also improves images that are taken in shadow or with intense back lighting. Without harming the areas in the image that are exposed correctly, D-lighting repairs backlit and underexposed photos.
However, when lighting is insufficient, attach the Nikon speedlight flash to the camera’s top. ?this flash includes several modes.
The Coolpix 8800 digital camera furthermore has the tools to create quality shots from various distances. For faraway shots, use the 10x zoom, which has the equivalent power of a 35mm lens. You can also use the camera’s macro feature to shoot subjects up to 1.2 inches (3 centimeters) away!
When it is impossible to hold your camera completely still, the Nikon Coolpix 8800 digital camera uses its Vibration Reduction (VR) technology to prevent fuzzy pictures. Camera shake happens when your hands move slightly, creating a blurry shot after the releasing of the shutter. VR technology lets you take shots at speeds that are eight times slower, without sacrificing the images’ sharpness. This feature is particularly important when using a tripod, using the wide-angle converter attachment or telephoto converter, creating videos, creating slow-shutter shots, shooting from a vehicle in motion, and when surrounded by low light levels.
Besides controlling the camera’s movement, the Coolpix 8800 also lets you control its operation. To automatically change the camera’s controls, select from 15 scene modes (i.e. the movie mode lets you record video with sound). For more control, select the aperture priority, full manual, automatic, or shutter priority settings.
Further options are included in the preferred light metering system of the Nikon Coolpix 880 digital camera. The options include various metering options and red-eye reduction
After taking your shots, one lets you easily upload your favorite images to a PC, from the Coolpix 880. Use the Nikon PictureProject software to:
• create panoramas, photo albums, and slideshows
• crop
• edit
• e-mail
• enhance
• post on the Internet
• print
• remove red-eye
If taking quality photos is your objective, then consider the Nikon Coolpix 8800 digital camera. It easily creates crisp and clear pictures for your computer, photo album, or wall.

Kodak EasyShare Z1012 IS Digital Camera

This new line totaling 8 cameras is the first time the GE brand has been used on a consumer camera. Every camera offers the advanced features that we see in a lot of cameras these days. This includes image stabilization, red-eye removal, high ISO sensitivity, and panoramic stitching.
First off is the A Series of cameras. The most affordable of the bunch, these cameras are made for first-time buyers and offers the minimum. The E Series is for those who have had more experience with cameras. As with most average cameras on the market, cameras in this series offer a wide 3inch screen and 4x optical zoom. The G Series or G1 is the most compact of the line up. Made as a ‘point and shoot’ camera, this is perfect for taking great pictures from time to time. For the more serious photographers is the
X: a very high performance camera that offers 12x optical zoom and 8 mega pixels.
Prices have not yet been set of all these cameras but it is expected to be within $149 – $399.

2. Linfen, China
Linfen is one of the most polluted cities on Earth. Hang out laundry in Linfen and it will turn black before drying, according to Mother Nature Network. Linfen is situated in the center of China’s coal district and spending a day in the city is equivalent to smoking three packs of cigarettes. Over three million people are affected daily by pollutions.

Los Angeles, USA
According to American Lung Association, L.A is the most ozone contaminated city in the U.S. The stratosphere holds an natural amount of ozone, but by Earth’s surface this becomes air pollution. High levels of ozone in the air will harm your lungs significantly and The California Air Resources Board predicts that more than 18,000 L.A inhabitants suffer premature deaths every year as a result of the air pollution.

4. The Niger Delta, Nigeria
It has been calculated that between 1,2 to 1,7 million tons of oil have spilled into the delta during the past 50 years. The leaks are the result of bad maintenance of pipes as well as sabotage. The Niger Delta is the third largest wetland in the world and the oil spill has caused great damage to mangrove swamps and wildlife.

5. London, United Kingdom
Car traffic, industries and agriculture are the main sources of pollution of London and areas nearby. United Kingdom emits the most nitrogen oxide in the world, directly affecting 1,5 million people. Experts say that the inhabitants of London has lowered their life expectancy with 9 years due to the air pollutions. Every year 50,000 people die prematurely due to city pollution.

6. Dzerzhinsk, Russia
Between 1930 and 1998 over 300,000 tons of chemicals were dumped here. Hundreds of thousands of people have been affected by e.g. the nerve gases Sarin and VX. The chemicals are all that is left from the Cold War when Dzerzhinsk functioned as principal production site for chemical weapons. In 2003, 260 percent more people died in Dzerzhinsk than people born.

7. Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, USA
Being called out as 2010’s worst place in the United States, this region has been contaminated by diesel engines, power plants and construction sites, filling the air of year around particle pollution, a mix of dust, soot and aerosols.

Since 1992 the mining and smelting plants in the area has caused severe lead, zinc, copper and sulfur dioxide contamination. According to Time Magazine, 99 percent of the children in La Oroya have blood levels that exceed acceptable limits.
Chernobyl, Ukraine
On August 26 1986, the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Chernobyl suffered a severe melt down, leading to the release 100 times more radiation into the atmosphere than released from both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bomb together. The 19 mile fallout area around the plant is today still inhabitable.
Socotra is home to more than 800 species of plants, some 240 of which are endemic to the island, and there are certainly many more plant species that have yet to be discovered. The climate is harsh, hot and dry, and yet – the most amazing plant life thrives there.

Geeks may now feel connected to Gangsta lifestyle through gadgets that are inspired by Hip-hop culture, and icons representing the sub-culture. Kristin Verby has used photography and 3D rendering in order to create these amazing and realistic gadgets that are inspired by Gangsta culture.

The series called “Gangsta Gadgets” includes sneakers, remote control, shower head and also a mouse. The Boombox Sneakers look showy like the NES Shoes and come with space to insert a DVD and play it. It seems like there would also be speakers to play music loud. It would be great to dance with the shoes on and music playing alongside.

Gangsta culture is dominated by guns and violence, and geeky lifestyle is dominated by remote controls. Thus, the Remote Glock is a great remote control which looks like a gun…kind of like the Nokia Cellphone Gun.

R. Kelly is one of the most famous R&B singers. The R. Kelly Shower Head looks all bling and golden and even seems to come with a camera lens for the pleasure of perverts.

The Booty Mouse is self-explanatory and could be a reference to the importance to big butts in hip hop culture.
These Gangsta Gadgets are cool and funny, and if they are manufactured, they would certainly be very popular. You could also take a look at the Pimpendo Nintendo Mod, which is a Gangsta inspired NES.

World's Smallest Gun

diamonds

According to evolutionists and geologists, diamonds were formed about 1–3 billion years ago, that’s way earlier than any known record of even the Earth’s first land plants let alone coal. Coal, known as a fossil fuel is formed from the dead remains of vegetation like trees, ferns and other plants and life. The formation of coal takes millions of years and can be traced back to 300 to 400 million years ago, but not a billion years. So, how again are diamonds supposed to have formed from coal that didn’t even exist then? They didn’t.

Natural diamonds, the hardest substance known to man require very high temperatures (ranging from 900 to 1300 on the Celsius scale) and pressure that exists only at depths of 87 to 120 miles (140 to 190 kilometers) in the Earth’s mantle to form. Unlike other gems which are formed by a combination of elements, diamonds are made up of one single element- Carbon. Carbon-containing minerals present in the Earth at those depths, crystallize to form diamonds because of the immense pressure together with the heat from molten magma.

The diamond crystals are then transported to the surface during deep-source volcanic eruptions in the magma. This is quite a rare occurrence as diamonds are formed at depths usually 3-4 times deeper than that at which normal volcanoes originate. However, when this magma cools, it forms igneous rocks known as kimberlites (named after the diamond-bearing region of Kimberly, South Africa where these rocks were first identified) and lamproites, used as an indicator that diamonds may be found in that area.

diamonds

The Kimberlites form narrow pipe shaped fissures which are also referred to as diamond pipes. The most prominent kimberlites are located in South Africa and Central Africa which roughly contributes for 49% of the natural diamonds mined in the World.

Coal is an amorphous form of carbon and at the most can change its chemical composition and transform into its nearly purest form which is Graphite but not diamond. The conversion of coal into diamond is almost impossible due to its impurities and the fact that coal is rarely buried to depths greater than two miles (1.2 kilometers) which is not conducive to the formation of diamonds.

Anachronous discovery: Swiss watch in ancient tomb

British inventor Sir James Dyson, known as the developer of the no bag vacuum cleaner and the air blade hand dryer has a new invention on his hands, a home fan that lacks blades.

bladeless fan

bladeless fan

The Dyson Air Multiplier is said to use 98% less energy then a standard air conditioner and incorporates the same technology as the Airblade hand-dryer. The Dyson fan looks like a magnifying glass with a ring perched on top of a solid base. The energy efficient brushless motor is housed within the base from where it draws air into the unit. From here, the air makes it’s way up the base until in leaves the fan through gaps within the ring itself. The indoor fan is capable of moving 27 liters of air per second.
Some of the advantages of the fan include that it is energy efficient and that it lacks blades so there is no risk of young kids hurting themselves. The main drawback of the Dyson bladeless fan will be price as this unit will retail for $300, at least 10 times more then what a basic fan sells for.

Mini Risers keep it simple

The multi-talented star was probably influenced by the sleek and elegant design of this brand new laptop.
The manufacturers decided to put the SF310 through In Mold Rolling, as they had done previously with their NF210. The result is a finely sculpted chassis which enables the keyboard and lid to fit snugly together when the laptop is closed.

Samsung SF310

The new Samsung is quite small compared with rival products of a similar spec. While the SF310 is heavier than the average user might like, it is still relatively portable. Prospective buyers may be interested to hear that this computer is also rather durable and is expected to have a long lifespan.
The SF310 is ideal for individuals who regularly commute via train and plane, as it last for 6.5 after a full charge. The sleep-and-charge function is another attraction, which allows for the charging of mobile phones and cameras while the laptop is in hibernation.
People who are prepared to spend £750 on a new laptop will undoubtedly be looking for high performance. Thankfully the SF310 is kitted out with a dynamic dual-core Intel Core i5-460M processor and 4gb of RAM.
Fun seekers will enjoy playing all the latest games on a laptop which makes full use of the Nvidia GeForce 310M chip. People who are using less demanding applications will utilise the alternative GMA HD card.
Darren Matthews, General Manager of Samsung’s Note PC Division said, “we’re excited to announce that the SF310 is now available in store and I believe that this new look notebook will see the start of a trend for more stylish mobile computing in the industry.
“Combining style, portability and performance the SF310 is the ultimate all-rounder to our notebook range and with our webcam promotion running up until the 31st of January next year, there’s no better time to invest in a new notebook.”
The Samsung is currently on sale as part of a combined package with the Microsoft Livecam Cinema HD webcam. It is thought that buyers will enjoy video conversations with their close friends and family, using both the hi tech webcam and the 13.3” widescreen LED backlit display.

Sony’s A-Series MP3 Walkmans hit the UK market

If you want to get your hands on one of Sony’s new A-Series Walkmans this Christmas, than you’ll be pleased to learn that the electronics retailer Advanced MP3 Players have signed an exclusive agreement with Sony to sell the company’s flagship series of walkmans to British consumers. And judging by the spec of this super slim multimedia entertainment powerhouse it is wholly understandable why British consumers would want to get their hands on this video MP3 walkman.

Sony’s A-Series MP3 Walkman

The features Sony’s new A-Series possess, are truly phenomenal and can barely be touched upon in a short review, but one of its key qualities is the slimness of the 64GB Walkman Video MP3 Player, which, being just 7.2mm thick, this stylish device is Sony’s slimmest MP3 player yet.
Aiding its stylish exterior is the 2.8 inch full colour OLED wide display, which, in producing 100% colour reproduction, provides razor-sharp, ultra-bright and decidedly detailed and clear visuals on the screen. With an optional video/audio output cable multimedia content from the walkman can be transferred to a bigger TV screen. With Content Transfer software, iTunes collections can be exported, whilst the Walkman can be easily filled using drag and drop with Windows Explorer and synchronised with Windows Media Player.
Other remarkable qualities of both models include Digital Noise Cancelling, which, by blocking out external ambient noise, delivers crystal clear audio reliability. Not only does the Digital Noise Cancelling suppress up to 98% of external noise, but users can set the function to comply with different environments, such as being on a train, on an aeroplane or in an office. The full S-Master Digital Amplifier produces sound so clear, it has been likened to putting you “centre stage in the studio or concert hall”.
