Twenty Prayers To Kill Affliction

The Bible clearly reveals the aims and objectives of Jesus’ earthly ministry. In 1John 3:8, it says, “... For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,

that he might destroy the works of the devil.” One of the enemy’s works is affliction.
This eye-opening message is loaded with power to turn around your situation, deliver you from affliction and make your captives, those to whom you were once a captive.

Read it carefully and prayerfully. It is time to receive your freedom!
Psalm 34:19-20: Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

This text shows that the fact that you are righteous does not mean you cannot be afflicted. In fact, immediately you decide to be righteous, your affliction will increase.

The more the power of God in your life, the more the enemies that will battle you. The greater the anointing, the greater the warfare. The brighter your destiny,

the harsher your attackers. However, the Bible says: “The Lord delivereth him out of them all.” This means hundred percent deliverance. I pray that any power that

wants to break your bones shall be broken into pieces in the name of Jesus.

Nahum 1:9: What do ye imagine against the Lord? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
This means God can kill completely because He is the Lord of hosts. The writer is asking what you think the Lord is and is telling you that affliction shall not rise a second time.
James 5:13: Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
This is a recommendation to anyone who is afflicted. It says: “... Let him pray.” It does not say- let him cry or worry, or fight everyone in the house. It does not say that

the person should drink alcohol or smoke Indian hemp or cigarette or commit suicide. However, it does not tell us which kind of prayers to pray.

CHARACTERISTICS OF AFFLICTION
1. It causes pain.
2. It causes suffering.
3. It causes a man or a woman to be knocked about here and there.
4. It causes embarrassment and harassment.
5. It causes a person to be knocked down completely.
6. It causes weakness.
7. It causes trouble.
8. It causes a person to be burdened.
9. It causes a person to be distressed
10. It causes oppression.
11. It causes torments.
12. It causes a person to be smitten.
The Bible makes us to understand that the rising of affliction is a fact, and that it can rise a second time. The second coming of infirmity is a fact .
AFFLICTION THAT RISES AGAIN
1. The one that is on a killing mission. That is, it did not arrive at killing the person the first time hence, it comes back so that the person would die.
2. The one that is programmed against a person and has been lectured by the devil to make sure the person does not have peace. Therefore, it torments and runs after the person.
3. The one that is bound but not dead.
Jesus said: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19.
When you tread upon a scorpion and crush it, it dies.

FACTS ABOUT THE ENEMY
He does not want you in a hospital but in a coffin. You must know that as far as you have a destiny to pursue, there will be killing agents that will be trailing you but God is the ultimate killer.

There are many enemies who will not leave you unless they die. They are killing agents and if they get hold of you, they will kill. If you give them space, they will not let you go until they have

completed their evil assignment. That is why it is very dangerous for any Christian to backslide now. You may not find your way back to Jesus before you die.

If you don’t rise up with the ability of God within you and kill this killing power, you will be killed.
There was a woman who came for counsel and I told her to get serious with the Lord and that her problem needed prayers for her to survive.

She was attending a church where they would dance all through the service.
Eventually, we arranged a prayer meeting per week and she was coming. I had to travel out of the country and when I came back,

I was told she was in hospital - she had mental neurosis. When I went to see her, I could not recognise her. Her hair was shaven and I told her that she had to pray well so that she would not die.

The Lord delivered her and she now knows the efficacy of prayers.
I had seen a person who complained of an ordinary headache and died. It means that headache was on a killing mission and it succeeded.

That headache or cancer could be a killer and unless you kill it, it will kill you. Poverty is a killer and unless you kill it, it will kill you.
There were three brothers living together and they were always fighting over food.
There was one who would always eat more than the others, yet, they were contributing the same amount of money. One day,

they fought so hard that they no longer had strength in them to do anything.
A man of God came to the house and told them that they did not have to kill each other. What they actually needed to kill was poverty.

If they had enough money, they would buy their foodstuff and each of them would eat to satisfaction.
Ulcer, diabetes, hypertension, failure, divorce and so on are all killers. If you don’t rise up in the ability of our God and kill affliction, it can kill you.

That is why the Bible says: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8b).
There was a 39- year- old sister who was living comfortably, she had a good job, a house, a car, everything she needed. However,

no man had ever proposed to marry her. She was invited for the Power Must Change Hands programme and she went. She fasted too.
During the service, there was a word of knowledge concerning household wickedness and tormentors that were about to die because of their stubbornness in tormenting a child of God.

She did not know what that meant but she heard it.
When she got home, she made herself a cup of tea and as she was about to drink it, her telephone rang. She was told that her father just died.

She started crying and suddenly, the phone rang again and she was told that her mother just died. Her parents were divorced, so they were not living together.
As she continued crying and lamenting alone, the telephone rang again and it was from the USA. Her uncle there, just died. She now became conscious and wiped her eyes,

drank her tea and started thinking over the coincidence. She wondered what the three deaths could mean. Three months later, a brother proposed marriage to her and they got married.
Take this prayer points aggressively: Every source of affliction in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.
Arrow of affliction, in my life, back fire, in the name of Jesus.
Every rain of affliction upon my life, dry up now, in the name of Jesus.
There was a very rich woman who was actually the richest in her family. She had a very comfortable house in a good location.
One day, she settled down to eat her pounded yam that was set before her suddenly. A frog came from nowhere and hopped on the pounded yam.

She carefully took the bowl of soup and turned it over the frog and pressed it down, thinking that it would die. To her amazement, when she lifted the bowl, there was no frog, dead or alive.
Suddenly, she started feeling numbness in her right arms and legs and she became paralysed. She was carried from one hospital to the other, from one herbalist to the other.

Eventually, she was taken to a Pentecostal church for prayers. She sat in a corner praying and the man of God came and asked if she was ready to surrender her life to Christ.
She was offended that the man asked her if she knew Christ when she was the Chairperson of the Ladies’ Society in the church.

She did not know that it is possible that 28 out of the 30 members of her society in the church could be witches and she would be oppressed or possessed.
Anyway, on second thoughts, she agreed that she was not born again and she surrendered her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and instantly, the power of God touched her. She stood on her feet and walked home.
At home, she heard a knock at her door. She opened and it was a relative whom she had not seen for fifteen years. That one asked her how she got her healing and she wondered how the person knew that she had any problem.
What happened? During prayers, the frog she saw on that day was commanded to come out of her and go back to the sender. It did and when the relative saw the frog, it was clear that the woman had been healed.
Take this prayer point:
Every agenda of affliction for my life, go back to your sender, in the name of Jesus.
Jesus has killing powers. He looked at an unfruitful fig tree and commanded it to die and it did. When a killing force meets another killing - force, the lesser killing force must bow.
Moses faced Pharaoh and told him that since he did not want to see his face, he would never see him again and it happened. Goliath did not go to the battlefield to joke with David.

He meant to kill David mercilessly and if David had not killed him, he would have actually killed David.
Elijah did not joke with the prophets of Baals. If he had not succeeded in dealing with them , they would have dealt with him Anyone who goes to hell fire,

gets there because he or she did not kill sin and so, the sin remained alive to kill the person.

KINDS OF PRAYERS THAT KILL AFFLICTION
1. Prayers of authority.
For example,
“I take authority over you spirit behind this affliction in the name of Jesus.”
2. Prayer to disobey the evil commands of the enemy. Sometimes, the enemy sits a person down and shows him or her the magnitude of

his or her problems and then commands the person to start crying or getting anxious or even commit suicide.
3. Prayers that undo the works of the enemy.
4. Prayers to silence the angel of death
5. Prayers that address the earth and seas, the heavenlies and the elements.
6. Prayers that force evil powers to vomit what they have swallowed. Sometimes, a person is shared spiritually amongst witches and eaten up. Physically,

the person would have an incurable disease that would defy all human knowledge and medicine .
7. Prayers to force wicked powers to drink their own blood and eat their own flesh.
The Psalmist says: “When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell” Psalm 27:2.
Prophet Isaiah said: “All those who want to drink your blood shall drink their own blood until they be drunken with it.” This means there are eaters of flesh and drinkers of blood.
8. Prayers to force evil powers to carry out your orders.
9. Prayers that issue judgement.
10. Prayers that divert arrows.
A lot of people are going through various levels of afflictions and I would like to give you some prayers points which have catastrophic effects on the enemy.
First of all, I want you to pray that none of your prayer arrows shall miss its target today.
Sample Prayer Points:
You powers of affliction in my life, go to the pit before your time, in the name of Jesus.
This means that you are burying them alive. It is the same as “... fall down and die.” Jesus saw some demons and they begged Him not to send them there.

They don’t like going there because that marks the end of their activities
Every power of affliction in my life, come out with all your roots, in the name of Jesus.
When you uproot a plant and tear its roots, it does not thrive again.
You powers of affliction in my life, I render you homeless by the Blood of Jesus.
You powers of affliction in my life, receive triangular attack by the Father, Son and Holy Ghost; by the Blood, Spirit and Water; by the sun, moon and stars.
There is no power that can withstand the attack by the triangular powers.
You powers of affliction in my life, eat your own flesh and drink your own blood.
Every power that wants me to die, die in my place after the order of Haman.
Let the weapons of affliction against my life backfire, in the name of Jesus.
Every source of affliction in my life, receive double destruction, in the name of Jesus.
Powers of affliction, dig your own graves, fall into them and be buried, in the name of Jesus.
Spirits of affliction, I dispatch you unto dry and waterless places.
God is the ultimate machine, in His killing activity, any power that opposes or stand in the way, will be destroyed.
If you don’t want affliction to rise again in your life, I want you to pray the following prayer points with aggression and as you do, you are making a good bargain.

Don’t pray them like a gentleman or woman because that would mean that affliction is a friend of yours and it will likely remain in place.
The Lord has promised that as you pray these prayer points, this week will be a terrible one for the enemy and there shall be chaos in the heavenlies against powers that are bent on destroying the child of God.
Any power raining incantations on you, going from one herbalist to the other, taking your wrapper or underwear or name or shoes or menstrual pad from one altar to the other,

will be dealt with. Some people vowed not to eat nor drink until Paul was killed; they put themselves under an oath because of him.
Today, all the powers that have taken oaths and entered into covenants against you shall be dealt with as you pray. I want you to understand that if you don’t kill them, they will kill you.
In 1995, we were at a vigil in the church premises and four birds flew past. We pointed at them and commanded the fire of the Holy Ghost to consume them.
One of them crash- landed and transformed into an old woman. I went close to her and she said they were not coming to disturb us but were on

their way to the University of Lagos to strengthen the cults there. I asked if she would now surrender her life to the Lord Jesus Christ since she had

found out that His power is greater than theirs. She said she would not and that she had already made a covenant with the devil and sold out her soul to him.
An enemy that has decided not to leave you alone unless you die is not the kind to joke with. Get ready, beloved, to pray these prayers with anger in your spirit

and let them know the power of our God. Let them know that there is a God called the God of Elijah, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, Jehovah the Man of war.

ONE THING YOU MUST DO

Beloved, if you are reading this message and have not yet surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you cannot pray to kill affliction. Therefore, I would advise

that you do so now. Confess your sins to Him and ask for forgiveness. Ask the Father to cleanse you with the Blood of Jesus and ask

the Lord to come into your life and become your personal Lord and Saviour.
I congratulate you on this decision you have just taken. My prayer for you is that the Holy Ghost will come upon you right now and overshadow you

with the power to kill all forms of affliction in your life. I pray that the Most High God will fight your battles, give you resounding victory and destiny-fulfilling breakthroughs.

Now, take these prayers with thunder in your voice.

Obtaining Self Personal Deliverance

THE PROCESS OF PERSONAL DELIVERANCE

When you understand self deliverance, you will keep yourself from being demonized; you will keep yourself healthy, physically and spiritually and be free from demonic pollution. You will enjoy divine health and will not be spending your money on drugs and hospital bills.

Sometimes, there may be no minister who is anointed and knowledgeable about deliverance to help you. Sometimes, you can be heavily attacked in your dream and the next service is about four days away. What do you do? You should never allow evil spirits to reside in your life. If you lack adequate time to do a self deliverance in the mornings, after your quiet time, when eating, in water, then, when you're having your bath, you could do it.

Our environment is such that there are many evil spirits moving around and if you are not regularly cleaning your house, they may lodge there; your level of education not withstanding. If a whole university professor could carry a ritual sacrifice because he needed promotion, then education is irrelevant.

Let's learn a few lessons now before we go into the actual practice.

A demon is a spirit, which means it's like a wind or breath. Most evil spirits leave through the breathing passage or by any opening in the body. This is why sometimes when prayers are hot some people begin to pass out gas or emit bad odour. Now when an ambulance wants to go through a busy area and blares its siren, the purpose is to clear the traffic so as to expedite the passage of the ambulance.

Therefore, when praying for self deliverance, you should keep quiet after the prayer before ejecting those evil spirits. This is why at times we ask people to breath in and out. If you are praying or speaking at this time, the spirit will not go out because you have not opened the way for it.

The next lesson you must learn is this; demons can come out by simple breathing, coughing, choking, yawning, vomiting, etc. The manifestations vary according to the person and the spirit involved. All the spirits that are not deeply rooted, depart easily, but those deeply entrenched, will require more time and effort to go. The more stubborn ones will require the help of other believers. Even when they are that strong, and you continue to wound them daily, they will eventually be mortally wounded.

Also, know that if multiple spirits are responsible for one problem, all of them must be removed before total victory is assured. One thing is certain; with every inch of ground grabbed from the devil, you will notice a definite improvement in your life. This is certain. Once the spirit leaves you, there will be a change in you.
Also, remember that an evil spirit must have a legal ground for staying in a person's life.

The purpose of all these information is to enable you to do a self deliverance at home for yourself.

The process of self-deliverance is carried out in stages. Let's go through them one by one.

Step ONE
Start with praise worship. You can sing songs to praise God and to worship Him.

Step TWO
Confess out loud Scriptures promising deliverance. Let us run through a few of them:

Luke 10:19,
Ephesians 1:7,
Romans 16:20,
Revelation 12:11,
Colossians 2:14,15,
Galatians 3:13,14,
Psalm 91:3.
2 Tim. 4:18 has this to say:

And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto His heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

You must at least memorize this one - 2 Tim. 4:18.

Step THREE
Break covenants and curses to destroy their legal hold. You pray a simple prayer like this:

I break any curse working against me or I break any covenant working against me, in the name of Jesus.

Simple prayer with much result.

Step FOUR
Bind all the spirits associated with those covenants and curses like this:

I bind all the spirits attached or connected to the curses and covenants I have just broken, in the name of Jesus.

Step FIVE
Lay one hand on your head and the other on your stomach or navel and begin to pray like this:

Holy Ghost fire, burn from the top of my head to the sole of my feet, in the name of Jesus.

Begin to mention every organ of your body; kidney, liver, intestine, blood, etc. You must not rush at this level. Lay your hands on areas that the Spirit of God leads you to. Do not be afraid if you notice that you are swaying or staggering, etc.

Step SIX
Then begin to saturate yourself with the blood of Jesus. You do this by saying:

Blood of Jesus, enter into my spirit, soul and body.

Next you say:

I drink the blood of Jesus.

This must continue until you have a release in your spirit to stop.

Step SEVEN
It is now, that you are able to demand firmly, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that any spirit that is not of God should leave you. You demand it forcefully like this:

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I come against all you hidden spirits and I bind your activities in my life. You can no longer hide below the surface because I now recognize what you have been doing; release me, in the name of Jesus.

If sickness is the problem, address it and say,
You spirit of infirmity, I speak to you directly, get out of my life now. I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, come out and go now. Go out with every breath by the power of the Holy Spirit. I prevail over you, in the name of Jesus.

At this point, you stop talking; open your mouth and nose and begin to breath in and out. Take about three to seven deep breaths, and expel them forcefully through your mouth and nose. You may be surprised that strange things will begin to happen. Repeat this stage again and again. This will help you to flush out any deposit or impurity within your body. You may notice that you are coughing, yawning, sneezing, sweating or shedding tears, but continue and do not loose your concentration.

Step EIGHT
When you have finished the expulsion stage, you then ask for a fresh in-filling of the Holy Spirit and close the session with praises.

When you are attacked in your dream, rise up and go through the stages I have already mentioned. (Our book "Victory Over Satanic Dreams" can help you further.)
Self-deliverance keeps you from getting sick; it removes every evil seed of the enemy; it charges your body with fire. It uproots evil plantations and builds up your confidence.

Every night before you go to bed, you must remember these three important prayer points.

1. Pray that the walls of fire should surround you. The Bible says:
For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her (Zec. 2:5).

2. Pray for cover with the blood of Jesus.
Rev 12:11: "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."

3. Also pray that the angels of God should surround you.
Ps 34:7: "The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them."
No matter how sleepy you are, make sure you pray these three prayer points every night.
There is no reason why self-deliverance should not be effective. However, if the person seeking deliverance is under stubborn demonic control or hereditary strongman and lacks sufficient faith or authority to defeat the oppressors or living in any known sin, the evil spirits will defend what they think is their right.
One final word of caution. For a person to be delivered, he must want deliverance. Self deliverance must not be done because of pride, shyness, the fear of possible public embarrassment, etc. Your motive for engaging in self-deliverance has to be pure.
Remember, deliverance is a process and the length of time it takes depends on several things viz:

the length of time the spirit has stayed inside a person,
the strength and reinforcement of the spirit,
the experience and degree of anointing upon those who are ministering the deliverance,
the willingness of the person being delivered to be free,
the knowledge of the word of God and your level of hatred for sin.

For self-deliverance to be very effective, a great deal of self-discipline is necessary.
Also, remember that bondage can be weak or strong. A weak hold can be broken quickly, whereas a stronghold may take a longer time. You will not realize the strength of a bondage until you faithfully and persistently work on it. You must remember that a foothold can graduate to a stronghold if left unaddressed.
After this exercise, you can set aside some days (with fasting) to pray the following prayer points.

DELIVERANCE PRAYER ON BREAKING COVENANTS, YOKES AND CURSES

Confession: Col. 2:14, Gal. 3: 13 & 14, 2 Cor. 6 14 - 18, Gal. 6:17, 2 Cor. 5:17
Spend quality time in praise and worship to God.

RENOUNCING MEMBERSHIP OF EVIL ASSOCIATIONS

1. I reject, revoke and renounce my membership with . . .
Jezebel spirit, marine spirit, water spirit, Queen of the coast, mermaid spirit, familiar spirit, witches and wizards, spirits of the dead and all other occult societies, in the name of Jesus.

2. I withdraw and cancel my name from their registers with the blood of Jesus.

3. I reject and renounce all such names given to me in any of the evil associations, in the name of Jesus.

4. I resign my position in any of these associations and withdraw my services and responsibilities permanently, in the name of Jesus.

5. I reject all the evil works I have done to innocent people through my membership with these evil association and ask the Almighty God to forgive me and wash me clean with the blood of Jesus.

6. I purge myself of all evil foods I had eaten in any of the evil associations with the blood of Jesus.

7. I bind you water spirits, marine spirits, queen of the coast, Jezebel spirits, familiar spirits operating in my life with hot chains and fetters of God and cast you out into the deep, and seal you with unquenchable fire of God, in the name of Jesus.

8. I withdraw any part of my body and blood deposited on their evil altars, in the name of Jesus.

9. I withdraw my pictures, image and inner-man from the altars and covens of the evil associations, in the name of Jesus.

10. I return any of the things of evil associations I am connected with, the instruments and any other properties at my disposal for the execution of duties, in the name of Jesus.

11. I hereby confess total separation from the evil associations, in the name of Jesus.

12. Holy Spirit, build a wall of fire round me that will completely make it not possible for these evil spirits to come to me again.

13. I break any covenant binding me with any of these evil associations, in name of Jesus.

14. I break all inherited covenants and all such covenants I consciously and unconsciously entered into, in the name of Jesus.

15. I bind the demons attached to these covenants and cast them into the deep, in the name of Jesus.
16. I resist every attempt to return me back to the evil associations with the blood of Jesus, fire, brimstone and thunder of God.

17. I renounce and revoke all the oaths I took while entering the evil associations, in the name of Jesus.

18. I break and cancel every evil mark, incision, writing placed in my spirit and body as a result of my membership of the evil associations with the blood of Jesus and purify my body, soul and spirit with the Holy Ghost fire, in the name of Jesus.

19. I break all covenants inherited from my ancestors on the father and mother side, in the name of Jesus.

20. Lord, break down every evil foundation of my life and rebuild a new one on Christ the Rock.

21. I command the fire of God to roast and burn to ashes every evil bird, snake, or any other animal attached to my life by the evil association, in the name of Jesus.

22. I dismantle every hindrance, obstacle or blockage put in my way of progress by my involvement in these evil associations, in the name of Jesus.

23. All the doors of blessings and breakthrough shut against me due to my involvement in these evil associations, I command you to open, in the name of Jesus.

CURSES

1. I break and cancel every inherited curse, in the name of Jesus.

2. Lord, remove from me all the curses placed upon my ancestral families as a result of their evil associations involvement, in the name of Jesus.

3. I break and cancel every curse placed upon me by my parents, in the name of Jesus.

4. I break and cancel every curse, spell, hex, enchantment, bewitchment, incantation placed upon me by my involvement with evil association, in the name of Jesus.

5. I break and revoke every blood and soul-tie covenant and yokes attached to them, in the name of Jesus.

6. I purge myself of all the evil foods I have eaten in the evil world with the blood of Jesus and purify myself with the fire of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus.

7. All demonic spirits attached to all these covenants and curses, be roasted with the fire of God, in the name of Jesus.

8. I declare my body, soul and spirit a-no-go-area for all evil spirits, in the name of Jesus.

DELIVERANCE FROM SPIRIT HUSBAND OR WIFE.

1. I divorce and renounce my marriage with the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

2. I break all covenants entered into with the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

3. I command the thunder fire of God to burn to ashes the wedding gown, ring, photographs and all other materials used for the marriage, in the name of Jesus.

4. I send the fire of God to burn to ashes the marriage certificate, in the name of Jesus.

5. I break every blood and soul-tie covenant with the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

6. I send the thunder fire of God to burn to ashes the children born to the marriage, in the name of Jesus.

7. I withdraw my blood, sperm or any other part of my body deposited in the altar of the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

8. I bind you spirit husband or wife tormenting my life and earthly marriage with hot chains and fetters of God and cast you out of my life in the depth pit and command you never to come into my life again, in the name of Jesus.

9. I return to you your property in my possession in the spirit world including the dowry and whatsoever was used for the marriage and covenants, in the name of Jesus.

10. I drain myself of all evil materials deposited in my body as a result of our sexual relation with the blood of Jesus.

11. Lord, send Holy Ghost fire into my root and burn out all unclean things deposited in it by the spirit husband and wife, in the name of Jesus.

12. I break the head of snake-deposit by the spirit husband or wife to do me harm and command you to come out, in the name of Jesus.

13. I purge out with the blood of Jesus every evil material deposited into my womb to prevent me from having children on earth.

14. Lord, repair and restore every damage done to any part of my body and my earthly marriage by the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

15. I reject and cancel every curse, evil pronouncement, spell, jinx, enchantment and incantation placed upon me by the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

16. I take back and possess all my earthly belongings in the custody of the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

17. I command the spirit husband or wife to permanently turn his or her back on me forever, in the name of Jesus.

18. I renounce and reject the name given to me by the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

19. I hereby declare and confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is my Husband till eternity, in the name of Jesus.

20. I soak myself in the blood of Jesus and cancel the evil mark or writings placed on me, in the name of Jesus.

21. I set myself free from the stronghold and domineering power and bondage of the spirit husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

22. I paralyse the remote control power being used to destabilise my earthly marriage to hinder my child bearing for my earthly husband or wife, in the name of Jesus.

BREAKING COVENANTS AND YOKES

1. I break every evil covenant with water spirits and the yokes attached to it, in the name of Jesus.

2. I break and cancel every covenant with any idol and the yokes attached to it, in the name of Jesus.

3. I break and cancel any evil covenants entered into by my parents on my behalf and all the yokes attached to them, in the name of Jesus.

4. I command the fire of God to roast the forces of hindrance and obstacles and paralyse their power, in the name of Jesus.

5. Lord, let the Holy Ghost effect immediate breakthrough in every area of my life, in the name of Jesus.

6. I confess that my deliverance shall remain permanent never to be reversed again, in the name of Jesus.

Face your challenges. Don't run away! If you do? You are gone.
David and Goliath - Story Summary:
The Philistine army had gathered for war against Israel. The two armies faced each other, camped for battle on opposite sides of a steep valley. A Philistine giant measuring over nine feet tall and wearing full armor came out each day for forty days, mocking and challenging the Israelites to fight. His name was Goliath. Saul, the King of Israel, and the whole army were terrified of Goliath.

One day David, the youngest son of Jesse, was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of his brothers. David was probably just a young teenager at the time. While there, David heard Goliath shouting his daily defiance and he saw the great fear stirred within the men of Israel. David responded, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of God?"

So David volunteered to fight Goliath. It took some persuasion, but King Saul finally agreed to let David fight against the giant. Dressed in his simple tunic, carrying his shepherd's staff, slingshot and a pouch full of stones, David approached Goliath. The giant cursed at him, hurling threats and insults.

David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied ... today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air ... and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel ... it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands."

As Goliath moved in for the kill, David reached into his bag and slung one of his stones at Goliath's head. Finding a hole in the armor, the stone sank into the giant's forehead and he fell face down on the ground. David then took Goliath's sword, killed him and then cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. So the Israelites pursued, chasing and killing them and plundering their camp.
Points of Interest from the David and Goliath Story:
• Why did they wait forty days to begin the battle? Probably for several reasons. Everyone was afraid of Goliath. He seemed invincible. Not even King Saul, the tallest man in Israel, had stepped out to fight. Also, the sides of the valley were very steep. Whoever made the first move would have a strong disadvantage and probably suffer great loss. Both sides were waiting for the other to attack first.

• David chose not to wear the King's armor because it felt cumbersome and unfamiliar. David was comfortable with his simple slingshot, a weapon he was skilled at using. God will use the unique skills he's already placed in your hands, so don't worry about "wearing the King's armor." Just be yourself and use the familiar gifts and talents God has given you. He will work miracles through you.

• David's faith in God caused him to look at the giant from a different perspective. Goliath was merely a mortal man defying an all-powerful God. David looked at the battle from God's point of view. If we look at giant problems and impossible situations from God's perspective, we realize that God will fight for us and with us. When we put things in proper perspective, we see more clearly and we can fight more effectively.

• When the giant criticized, insulted and threatened, David didn't stop or even waver. Everyone else cowered in fear, but David ran to the battle. He knew that action needed to be taken. David did the right thing in spite of discouraging insults and fearful threats. Only God's opinion mattered to David.
Questions for Reflection:

Are you facing a giant problem or impossible situation? Stop for a minute and refocus. Can you see the situation more clearly from God's vantage point?

Do you need to take courageous action in the face of insults and fearful circumstances? Do you trust that God will fight for you and with you? Remember, God's opinion is the only one that matters.

We, as end time believers, are so engrossed in praying dangerous and acidic prayers against our enemies! I know the enemies we are talking about are not physical enemies but here this! Christians talk about their enemies and when you drop a prayer point concerning the death of their enemies, the whole of the church or convention hall become an "earthquake", but the Holy Ghost is leading me AGAIN to answer a crucial question that will provoke your unstoppable decoration today: "Who is the real enemy?" Is it not the wife who is disrespectful to her husband, abusive and nagging, dirty and lazy, fighting her husband on every divergent view, and now turns around to blame an enemy outside, for her marital failure rather than looking inwards and dealing with the evil within her? Is it not the unmarried lady who turned down very proposal for marriage when she was younger because she wanted to have more fun with men, including married men, not minding who she hurts or whose marriage was broken; cursed by many angry, bitter and frustrated house wives whose husbands she has distracted from their marriages, who turns around now that she is older and no one is showing interest in marrying her, to blame an enemy; praying that God will kill the enemy that is preventing her from getting married? Who do you think the enemy that is preventing her from getting married? Who do you think the enemy is in these cases? The man who lives apart from his family and travels often without his wife, only to turn around and blame an enemy from his village for the unfaithfulness of his wife or for his constant recourse to adultery is ignorant of life's battles! How would you explain the laziness of a pastor/gospel ministers in reading the Word or fasting before crucial programmes, only to blame the stagnation of his ministry on satanic forces? No, the enemy within his laziness or lack of focus! Yes, if your life pleases God, He will make even your worst enemy to bow at last, i.e., to be at peace with you (today's scripture vs 7) PROVERBS 16-7 King James Version (KJV) 7 says when a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Indeed, if your life is right with God, all demons in your country cannot stop your testimony! So, whatever will make your ways not to please God in 2014, is the enemy you must deal with! See you at the top!

Let Them Walk Away! Let It Go!!!

1 John 2:19
¹⁹They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

There are people who can walk away from you.

And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don’t want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can’t make them stay.

Let them go.

And it doesn’t mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you’ve got to know when people’s part in your story is over so that you don’t keep trying to raise the dead.

You’ve got to know when it’s dead.

You’ve got to know when it’s over. Let me tell you something. I’ve got the gift of good-bye. It’s the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It’s not that I’m hateful, it’s that I’m faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He’ll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don’t need it. Stop begging people to stay.

Let them go!!

21 Ways God Speaks To Us Today. {Hearing From God (1)}

In the Creation of the World He conversed with Adam in the garden. See, Genesis 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? He called Samuel! See, 1 Samuel 3:6 Again the LORD called, "Samuel!" And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." "My son ... See, Genesis 6:13-14 He told Noah to build an ark. See, Exodus 33:11, Numbers 12:8, Moses 1:1-6 where He spoke to Moses one on one, face to face. In Genesis 18 and Genesis 21:2 He promised Abraham a son. In Acts 9 Paul heard His voice on the way to Damascus. But does God still speak to us today? If so, How? When? Where? You must practice these four D's before you can hear! from God YOU MUST Desire it, Disciple yourself and Determine to hear, Decision. You must decide if your truly want to hear from Him then have a total repentance, leave according to His promises and receive Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost baptisms.

Often when people ask this question, they are talking about an audible voice. And God can do that. He can do anything He wants. He’s God. Why then, can’t I hear God speak to me audibly, someone might ask?
I can’t answer questions that the Bible does not make clear. And the way God works is one of those questions. I do think “hearing God speak” may mean different things to different people. To some, it may suggest, “I need answers for my life, or this particular crisis.” Another may say, “I’ve asked God for _________, but He never answers me."
God treats each of us as unique children. None of us are cookie-cutter Christians. Because of that, God doesn’t “speak” the same way to all of us. However, here are twenty-one ways God often uses to communicate with us.

21 Ways God Speaks to Us Today
1. Through His Word in general.
2 Timothy 3:16 says that all Scripture is “God-breathed.” His Word sometimes gives us a warning, a word of encouragement, or a lesson for life. It’s ”His-story”–written with love as God’s guide for life, “so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

That means God is whispering, and sometimes shouting, all through His Word, giving us instructions and principles for life. As we interpret Scripture by other Scripture, we avoid the false logic and misinterpretations that sneak into our world. If someone claims, “God told me to go kill my neighbor!” would you believe him? Of course not! God never violates His own Word or principles. That “voice” does not belong to God.

I needed help for raising my children. God “told” me about that in His Word, especially in proverbs. Marriage difficulties? God spoke about that as well. Times when I was afraid? I “heard” Jesus’ words to His disciples as they feared for their lives one stormy night: “Peace, be still!” and it was as if God was speaking to me, too (Luke 8:23-25).

2. Through His Son, Jesus Christ
The New Testament was the fulfillment of God’s special plan. It’s the gospel: the good news of Jesus Christ. “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe” Hebrews 1:1-2, NIV).

Through the words of Jesus in Scripture, we can “hear” God’s heart and God’s voice–and know what God is truly like. These words were not written for a few, select individuals who could jump through the right spiritual hoops (“For God so loved the world…”). Someone in Africa, in Germany, in China, and in Alabama can “hear” Jesus’ voice by reading the same Bible.

Comparing us to sheep and He as the Shepherd, Jesus says inJohn 10:27, NKJV: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Why? Because the sheep know who He is. They belong to Him, and they recognize Him by the sound of His voice. And He’s the one who will always lovingly lead them on the right path–again and again.

3. Through Nature and God’s Creation
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse ” Romans 1:20, NIV). Through the intricate details and magnificent beauty of all that God has made, we can “hear” His voice. How? By observing the ant’s strength to store up food all summer long, we learn about wisdom and industriousness. By studying the heavens, we understand more of God’s greatness. And through planting and growing a garden, we “hear” about miracles of death and rebirth. God designed–and spoke them all into existence.

4. Through Other Believers
God may use a friend, a teacher, a parent, or a preacher to convey His message of truth to us. Their words may come as a warning, a blessing, or as a prophetic truth about our lives.Whether we choose to hear it or ignore it, depends on us. Do their words line up with Scripture? Will God confirm or affirm that truth in us? “The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere” (James 3:17, NIV).

I’ve “heard” God speak to me numerous times through other people. A good friend once cautioned me about flirting with danger. Words from a speaker or Christian author have both challenged me and convicted me at times. And I’ve “heard” God talking to me through my own children as their pure and honest words cut clear to my heart and spirit, reminding me of God’s true priorities.

All these things may not sound to you like ways of ”hearing God’s voice,” but it’s possible to reduce God to our own image if we insist on Him acting or reacting a certain way. God is bigger than that. He once spoke through a donkey (Numbers 20:28). Why then, can’t He speak through anyone at anytime or in any way He wants to?

Bottom line is that if we are His children, God loves us unconditionally and will spare no expense to show us. Our part? Believe Him!
Hearing His “audible” voice would no doubt cinch His reality in an awesome way. But I’ve never heard God through an angel’s message. I have no taped recordings to tell you what God sounds like. But I have heard God “speak” through the above ways–and in a few more. Read on.

5. Through Music

Perhaps one of the ways I can sense God’s presence the most and “hear” His voice the best is when I am praising Him through music. Maybe it’s because in times of depression and difficult trials in the past, I would pour over David’s songs in Psalms, often singing them back to God with my own tunes. Praise brings me instantly to attention, like a sergeant’s command to his soldiers. The words and the notes bring a soothing comfort, excitement, and passion that open my ears and heart and lift my spirits immediately.
In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat faced a huge army of enemies who could have easily destroyed His people, but he did a strange thing. With a declaration that his eyes were on God, he sent in a choir of praise singers: “Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: ‘Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever’” (2 Chronicles 20:21, NIV).
God “spoke” clearly. He released His power, and Jehoshaphat’s army defeated their enemies!

6. Through Circumstances

When others claim to hear God through circumstances, I try to caution them to test their conclusions with other evidence. God is a Holy God, and often uses circumstances to get our attention. But He will usually confirm it in other ways.

This happened to us before my husband and I married. We were dating in high school and were both involved in what could have been a deadly accident, when a speeding pick-up hit our car broadside.

Through that accident, my husband felt God had a special purpose for his life. Did he “hear” God’s literal “Yes?” No, but through much prayer, seeking God’s Word, and talking to others, he felt God’s confirmation. Several months later, he committed his life to full-time Christian service.

Someone once told me they just knew God was telling them it was okay to buy a brand-new pickup. They’d prayed about it, and circumstances confirmed it: the local car dealership had just the color and model they wanted. But there was one small problem they were neglecting. They couldn’t afford it on their income. And they ignored other red flags as well.

Through Moses, God used circumstances (plagues) to convince Egypt’s leader to release God’s people from slavery. But Pharaoh wouldn’t listen.

Sometimes God uses our circumstances to test our faith. We don’t always know how to interpret the things that happen to us. I recently took my first trip in an ambulance to the local ER–unfortunately as a patient. My pulse, along with my blood pressure, dropped dangerously low. For several minutes my world looked like a spinning photo negative. Scary, to say the least. Four hours of testing later found no cause as to why it happened. The doctor pronounced me healthy and sent me home, after encouraging me to get a follow-up–which I did. Nothing showed up.

I don’t know if God was speaking to me about something special, but the first thing I did was tell Him I was listening! If nothing else, life–and loved ones–suddenly became much more precious to me. One of the first things I usually ask God when circumstances change is: “God, is there something you want to teach me through this?” Yes, I know everything is “fodder” for writers. But I want to make it personal and learn the lesson first.

7. Through His Spirit

I once heard someone teach about “minding the checks” in your spirit. Some may call it “God’s whispers,” while others say, “God’s still, small voice.” We are made in the image of God, and when we confess Jesus and follow Him as our Lord and Savior, His Spirit comes to live in us (John 14:17, 1 Corinthians 3:16). God’s Spirit speaks to us through our conscience, helping to make the right decision. When we’re tempted, that same Spirit warns and nudges us to do the right thing.
As a writer, I depend on God’s Spirit to give me direction. There are times when ideas pop into my mind totally unexpectedly–and sometimes directly after a plea for help from God. The good ideas I credit to God, because after all, He is the source of every good and perfect gift. The others? They’re in file 13. Even the good ones need developing and rewriting, but that’s a different subject.
Why do you suppose ten people can “hear” a sermon, but each person will walk away with a different truth that applies to him? In some cases, the speaker never spoke what the people say they “heard.” Many times, that may be the result of God’s Spirit speaking a personal “Rhema,” a living, breathing word of truth to our spirits. It’s when Scripture comes alive to us–because it is truly “God-breathed.”

8. Through Prayer

Each way I’ve shared that God may speak to us today meshes into the other. God often speaks to us through His Spirit, through prayer. We may not know how to pray, but God’s Word tells us His spirit makes intercession for us (Romans 8:26-27).

Often through a combination of fasting and prayer, our minds become clearer and our hearts are more sensitive to God. Again, we may not hear God’s literal voice, but His Spirit confirms a certain direction or answer for us. As the distractions fade, we can sense His leading in a new way. Sometimes while praying, God’s Spirit will remind us of a Scripture or a truth in His Word that we can directly apply to the situation.
Does that happen immediately? Not always. There have been occasions where I still had no clue what to do, but in faith I thanked God whenever and however He would answer. A day, a week, maybe even months pass. Then one day in the shower or on a walk, a thought comes–that gentle “whisper” that could only come from Him, accompanied by His peace.

You Are Unique

Does God speak to all of us the same way? No, we are all unique. Are these the only ways God speaks today? No. He’s a creative God. He speaks so many ways, including through miracles. In other countries where Christianity is taboo, God is also revealing Himself repeatedly through dreams. Report after report confirms that an unbeliever who has never heard of Jesus dreams of Him–but doesn’t know who the “man” is–or what the dream means. Then a messenger comes, shows a film about Jesus’ death and resurrection, and the one who has dreamed recognizes the man in his dream: It’s Jesus, the Son of God!

Remember One Truth

Regardless of the way God chooses to reveal Himself or “speak” to us today, remember one truth. He will never contradict His Word, and the message He gives will always bring glory to God. The Bible warns about adding anything to the already written, God-breathed Word of God, or accepting any other messenger who claims to be superior to Jesus (Revelation 22:18-19;2 Corinthians 11:4).

***ASK: Prophet Charles, some people think God chose who he was going to be saved even before they were born. I tend to think He just knew who was going to follow him and who wasn’t. What is your opinion?

ANSWER: It is the age old debate about “election.” God in His omniscience knew before the foundations of the earth was formed who would accept Him and who would reject Him. Having said that, despite His knowledge, man has the free will to accept or reject Christ and God DOES NOT interfere with that free will choice, meaning each person is responsible for what they do with Jesus. Otherwise, there would be no need for preaching the Gospel, there would be no point in evangelizing, and all of the commandments regarding telling others (Romans 10) would be meaningless.

One of the greatest tests of our faith is when we pray about an issue and NOTHING happens. We pray some more and still nothing happens. We pray until we simply can’t pray any longer. Let me say up front, there are some schools of thought that praying for something more than once shows a lack of faith. I disagree with that conclusion, since we have passages like today’s scripture that show us persistent prayer is encouraged. There is no RIGHT formula for prayer. It is not magic or some sort of mystical formula.

GOD IS NOT OUR PERSONAL GENIE IN A BOTTLE WHO IS SIMPLY WAITING TO RESPOND TO OUR WISHES!!!

The fact is, prayer is simply a conversation we have with our heavenly Father. It is like talking to our best friend, which He is. When we have a close relationship with someone, we may ask them to do something for us and it is done. We might only ask once, and it gets done.

There are some things, especially when it comes to husbands and wives, or children that we have to ask 5, 10, 20, even 100 times to get it done. We have all been there I am sure. So it is with our relationship with God. We may share a need with God, and almost immediately it is taken care of. However, there may be some issues we pray about over, and over, and over for a long period of time before it is taken care of.

But, there are also some issues that we pray about for long periods of time that are NEVER resolved. It is at these times that we must allow our faith to become real and trust God. While the Bible clearly tells us to ask God for the desires of our heart, and we SHOULD do that, we must always pray with the heart. Jesus did. He said, “YET not my will, but thy will be done.”

Jesus understood that His life was totally surrendered to God. It was God’s life to use as He saw fit. God’s plans may not always be our plans. It is at those times we MUST set aside our desires for His. As we grow spiritually, we actually come to the place Jesus was, when we understand each day that our life belongs totally to God and our desires must be His desires. Hear this one more time.

OUR DESIRES MUST BECOME HIS DESIRES!

I love you and care about you so much. I will be praying for you today, praying that when you have to, you are like the widow and are not afraid to remind God over and over of the great needs that you have in your life. There is nothing wrong with reminding God.

I will also pray that you come to the place in your walk with the Lord where you can say, “Lord, not my will, but Thy will be done,” that place where we trust God enough to not worry when He s “silent”, but have a peace that what God wants is what we want. After all, God’s plans are ALWAYS better than our plans. While our plans don’t always work out the way we expect, God’s plans ALWAYS work out perfectly.

The fact is, God is NEVER silent and NEVER ignoring our prayers. He is simply waiting for His perfect timing to show you the right plan to meet your needs.

Ah, emotions: the roller coaster of life! No matter how hard we try, we can’t completely control them or even understand them. But God can. We often separate our emotions from our spiritual life. We try to go it alone and wrestle the tears and worry with our own hands. But God has given us a great artillery in Himself. Here are 15 terms taken from the pages of Scripture that explain how God is with us through all the twists and turns of our emotions.

BLESSED

When the Bible talks about blessing someone, it generally means giving good things that result in a state of happiness. Sometimes these blessings are material possessions, but more often they are intangible gifts such as love, faith and peace. Our blessings include peace and a unique, intimate relationship with God (Psalm 29:11). It is now our job to bless the nations by telling them the Good News of the death and resurrection of Christ. The gospel is meant to be a blessing for all people.

BROKEN

For the most part, broken means useless until repaired. Yet because God can work all things together for good (Romans 8:28), even broken things have value. For instance, proud people sometimes need to be broken, or humbled, before they realize they need to change. It’s encouraging to know that God takes broken hearts and spirits and gently mends, heals and shapes them.

BURDEN

Worries, or burdens, weigh heavily on our hearts, often making it difficult to enjoy each new day. God knows this, so in his great love, he lifts our burdens. He tells us to bring our burdens to him so he can carry them (Matthew 11:28). Does that mean he takes away all our trials? No, he often uses trials to build our character and our hope (Romans 5:3–5). Though we each have our own burdens in life, God instructs us to bear each other’s burdens as well and in this way be like Christ (Galatians 6:2).

CLEAN

When God cleans us, we’re clean all the way through to the depths of our being. As part of his forgiveness, God cleanses us from all our sin (1 John 1:9) and declares that, as far as he is concerned, we are now as white as snow. Both our sin and our guilt are gone and we are free.

COMFORT

We wouldn’t know what comfort is if we had never had run-ins with pain. If we never experienced sadness, we wouldn’t recognize happiness. Yet we’d all choose happiness; we’d all choose comfort. Sometimes God takes us out of our “comfort zones” to build our character (Romans 5:3–5) and give us new skills. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy for us. That’s why God promises to comfort us. He knows when we’re hurting; he even records every tear (see Psalm 56:8). Sometimes we are forced to deal with problems. Sometimes we may be called to sympathize with others who are grieving or needy. God is always there to be our great comforter as we live as ambassadors of his name and grace (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). We can bring his comfort to the deprived world and to our neighbors and friends who don’t know him.

COUNSEL

You have no idea what to do. You need advice. You need some counsel. Now what? God gives several avenues for counsel. First, he gives himself. Jesus Christ is called the “Wonderful Counselor” (Isaiah 9:6). We can— and should—bring all our questions and problems to him. He promises to give wisdom every time we ask for it (James 1:5–6). He may provide that wisdom through the Bible (Psalm 119:24), through circumstances (as he did with Jonah) or through other people. God encourages us to seek counselors (see Proverbs 15:22), but he cautions us to choose our counselors carefully (Psalm 1:1-2). If you ask for advice from someone who isn’t following God, there’s a good chance that the counsel won’t fit with God’s ways.

COURAGE

Courage isn’t only for heroes; it’s just more evident in their reactions to threatening situations. Sometimes it takes courage to simply get up in the morning. It takes courage to look our parents or our mates in the face and tell them that we’ve messed up. It even takes courage to love someone, to continually offer oneself as a companion through thick and thin. Because we have Jesus Christ behind us—all his love, power and wisdom—we can afford to be brave. For Christians, this life is about living in God’s strength (2 Peter 1:3–4). Don’t forget that God is on our side. Who can be against us when we have that kind of backup? In any doubtful or opposing situation, we’ve got the upper hand. Sometimes we lose courage because we can’t see the outcome of whatever is in front of us. But we can take courage in knowing that God never leaves us to our own devices. “Be strong and courageous . . . for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:6,).

GRACE

The Bible tells us that the only thing people deserve from God is punishment because all of us have sinned (Romans 3:23). We have access to eternal life only because God chose to give it to us. We can’t earn salvation. Instead, God offers eternal life as a free gift (see 6:23). Grace—it’s one of the most beautiful words in the Bible. Here’s a helpful acronym: God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. Our eternal riches in heaven—and every good thing we have or will receive—are an undeserved gift from God. God’s grace is evident in his mercy. He often delays punishment in order to give us time to turn to him. Other qualities closely related to God’s grace are his unconditional love, kindness, patience and forgiveness.

GRIEF

Grief is a natural reaction to change and loss. We begin to understand the fragility of life in times of deep sorrow—when loved ones die, when close friends endure pain, when accidents and atrocities befall us or those we care about. In our anguish, we often try to distract ourselves with work, play, chocolate, sleep, other people. These things are not bad, but nothing and no one can
ease our pain except God. He alone enables us to confront our grief because Jesus took it all on himself when he died on the cross. He alone gives true comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). Christians are never without hope. God has promised never to leave us. He has joy stored up for us, even as we wait for our grief to pass.

HUMILITY

Our culture says, “Believe in yourself! Assert yourself!” But we should not be surprised to learn that the Bible tells us to do exactly the opposite of what the world advocates. We read over and over in the Bible that God pulls down those who exalt themselves and lifts up those who are humble. Humility communicates a number of concepts in the Bible, but perhaps the most significant is the attitude of submission and servanthood that Jesus himself displayed and that we are to imitate (Philippians 2:5-8). God’s power and authority should inspire us to yield our will to his superior plan for our live whenever we approach him, but especially when we know we have sinned.

JOY

You may know a few people you would call happy, but how many people do you know who are truly joyful? There’s nothing wrong with being happy, but it more or less depends on the outcome of certain circumstances; it is largely defined by “good fortune.” Joy is choosing to be glad and at peace despite the situation, even when it is negative. Joy is God’s very nature— something we are because God dwells within us. Joy is a depth of everlasting satisfaction that comes from the Lord. When we are in step with the Holy Spirit, the attitude of our lives is characterized by joy (Colossians 3:16). Because we belong to God, we can rejoice even during the tough times—not because things always work out the way we want, but because our future is in the hand of the one who loves us and takes great joy in us.

TRIALS

It’s impossible to build perseverance or character without struggles and suffering. Hard times help us learn; they stretch and challenge us. Our perspective on trials can be positive or negative, and it ultimately affects the outcome of our hardship. When we are confronted by a trial and realize our limitations, God is glorified (2 Corinthians 12:10). We learn to rely on him and give our worries to him, realizing our total dependence on our heavenly Father. When our lives are easy, we can lose sight of how greatly we need God. God never leaves us during our hard times; he gives us the endurance and faith necessary to match our trials. He has plans for our growth and victory, not for our defeat.

WORRY

Worry is the enemy of faith, hope and love. The Bible tells us not to worry because God loves us, and he can be trusted to run the universe. He is always working for our good in every situation, even in those situations that seem to be working against us. When we worry, we consider and examine our problem from every angle but God’s—until we’ve exhausted the subject and ourselves. Excessive worry demonstrates a preoccupation with material things and worldly events that distract us from what God considers important: trusting him (Matthew 6:25- 34). God knows what we need before we even ask him to provide (Matthew 6:8). We can concern ourselves with the things that will advance his kingdom and leave the rest up to him. He’ll take care of it—often in a way that far surpasses what we could have imagined!

ZEAL

When you are so moved, that you can hardly sit still; you just want to go out and do something— that’s zeal. As with all positive attributes, God is also our model for zeal. It is because of his zeal for righteousness that God must punish sin. It is because of God’s passionate love for people that he made the ultimate sacrifice to draw us to himself. We should have the same unquenchable drive for the things that God desires (Romans 12:11). We need to be sure, however, that our zeal is not misdirected. If we are faithful in studying God’s Word and letting his Spirit interpret it for us, God will give us a passion for the things he loves.

Finding the Secret of a Successful Christian Life

One of my secrets for authentic and successful Christian living actually is not a secret, it’s a truth --a truth that I pray you will learn to embrace in your own relationship with Jesus Christ.

The “secret” is this: “Christ lives in me.” And if I permit Him to do so, He will live His life through me and overcome the world through me!

Does that sound strange? Let me explain by telling you my story.
Slow beginnings for this evangelist

I was converted to Jesus Christ when I was 12 years old at a camp in Argentina, South America. I then bought a Bible, carried under my arm, and told all of my friends about the Lord Jesus.

After about a year and a half, however, I began to cool down. One day I lost my Bible and didn’t bother to buy another. Eventually, I lost all my joy and all my desire to tell others about Jesus Christ.

About four years went by before I took even one step back toward the Lord. Then it took another eight years, while I was studying the Bible in seminary, before I began to experience the same joy I had known when I had first given my life to him.

What brought me back to that place of vibrant, joyous life in Jesus Christ?

The Bible verse: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Christ overcoming in and through me

Before, I would read those words of Jesus Christ and say, “Yes, Lord, you’ve overcome the world. But you are there, and I am here. You have overcome the world, but I am certainly not overcoming the world. Where are you when I need you?”

I was terribly wrong when I said that to the Lord. That’s not what the Bible teaches. What I didn’t realize was that awesome, overcoming power of God was totally available to me from the day I first opened my heart to Jesus Christ, for “Christ lives in me” (Galatians 2:20).

“Christ lives in me” is only part of Galatians 2:20. The full verse reads: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

“I have been crucified with Christ.” This means that on the day I received Christ, the old “me” that lived in rebellion against God died forever. The cross was the end of Satan’s rule over my life. Jesus Christ’s presence in me and in you—not our dedication—makes the Christian life thrilling, powerful and fully satisfying.

Now the new life I live is actually the life of Christ because Christ dwells in me. Jesus Christ is God. Everything that God is, Jesus Christ is. Everything that God has, Jesus Christ has. All those resources are available to you and to me. We just need to allow him to live his life through us for his purposes.

Yes, we do need to pray, read the Bible and serve others. But we can never do enough to be victorious over temptation, sin or suffering. We cannot earn these victories any more than we can earn our salvation.
Grasping the secret for yourself

What makes the difference? Perhaps it sounds too easy: focus your faith on the power of the resurrected Christ rather than on self-control. Rely on the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit rather than on grim determination to hang on during times of hardship or doubt.

“Christ lives in me.” He’s been living in me since I was twelve. How long has he been living in your life? one month? Fifteen years? You have all of Him! every spiritual blessing in Christ. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

My prayer is that you will allow Jesus Christ to live his overcoming life through you and experience his joy.

5 Ways God Answers Prayer

Over the years, I’ve discovered from Scripture and experience that God loves to answer our prayers. Here are five of his most frequent answers:
1. “No, I love you too much."

The Lord of the universe isn’t under obligation to say "yes" to every prayer. That’s a good thing considering some of the things we request!

But sometimes God says "no" to our most heartfelt requests. Have you discovered this to be true in your own life? I certainly have. When my friend Diane started losing her hearing. When my mother-in-law came down with polio. When my nephew contracted AIDS.

I would be known as Luis Palau Jr. if it weren’t for the fact that God said "no" to my most earnest childhood prayers. Shortly after my tenth birthday, my father, Luis Palau Sr., contracted bronchial pneumonia and died ten days later.

Death became, to me, the most undeniable reality under heaven. Everything else can be rationalized and wondered about and discussed, but death is there, staring you in the face. It’s real. It happens. Even to the most godly people. No matter how hard we pray. Why? Because we still live in a fallen world.

I’ve been reminded of this repeatedly since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America. Tens of thousands of lives were spared. But God said "no" to thousands of other prayers. Will good come of their deaths? I believe so.

Without a doubt, the death of my father has had more impact on my ministry than anything else in my entire life, besides my own conversion to Jesus Christ. My wish and desire is that people get right with God, settle the big question, and die happy, knowing...like my father...that they will be with Jesus, "which is better by far" (Philippians 1:23). Does that mean we shouldn’t bother to pray? Just the opposite. Over the years, traveling throughout the world, I’ve discovered four other ways God frequently answers prayer. Believe me, He loves to say yes!"
2. “Yes, but you’ll have to wait."

Immediate answers to prayer. You want them. I want them. But God simply does not always work that way. And to get His best, we must be patient. In some cases, we must wait until 11:59 for His answer to come.

Phil Callaway didn’t know what to say when his young children asked if Mommy was going to die. His wife, Ramona, suffered horrible seizures. Hundreds of friends and relatives prayed, but Ramona’s weight eventually slipped to ninety pounds. Medical specialists tried everything, but by the fall of 1996, the seizures were occurring daily, sometimes hourly.

Phil rarely left Ramona’s side. He wondered if she would even make it to her thirtieth birthday. One evening, when things looked utterly hopeless, Phil paced their dark backyard, then fell to his knees. "God!" he cried out. "I can’t take it anymore. Please do something!"

As he stood, a doctor’s name came to mind. Phil called the doctor, who saw Ramona the next morning and diagnosed a rare chemical deficiency. Within a week, Ramona was a different person. The seizures ended. Her eyes lit up with the sparkle that had first attracted Phil to her. The miracle was so incredible Phil says, "God gave me back my wife."

    Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" Matthew 7:7.

3. “Yes, but quite different from how you thought I would answer."

Have you ever asked God to use you? If so, expect the unexpected!

National Football League running back Sherman Smith, the "Sherman Tank," stood six feet four inches tall and packed two hundred twenty-five pounds of the most muscle you’d ever want to tackle. His reputation for bowling over defensive linesmen raised his celebrity to near-cult status in the Pacific Northwest, where he played for the Seattle Seahawks. He was treated like royalty.

Then, without warning, the Seahawks traded their most popular player to the San Diego Chargers Everything changed overnight for this running back whose Christian faith was as rock solid as his rib cage. He wasn’t with the Chargers for more than a few weeks when he blew out his knee. While in rehabilitation, he wondered, Lord, why did you ship me to San Diego?

But while his knee mended, Sherman had the opportunity to lead one of his teammates to the Lord. That converted party-man, Miles McPherson, has since become an outstanding youth evangelist who reaches tens of thousands each year.

Why was Sherman traded to San Diego? He now knows God wanted to use him, all right!

    Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

4. “Yes, and here’s more!"

Ever wonder if the Lord knows what you want and need?

Australian David Smallbone felt God leading him to promote Christian concerts. He started in a country where Christianity had taken root among only five percent of the people. When too few fans filled seats during one major tour, however, David took a $250,000 bath in red ink.

Creditors swiftly repossessed his home, and the father of six looked for work elsewhere. A top artist offered him a job in Nashville, so the Smallbones sold their furniture and other possessions and purchased tickets to America.

A few weeks after they arrived in the U.S., however, David was informed that his position was no longer available. He literally could not get out of bed for several days. Then he and his wife explained what happened to the children. They got on their knees and asked God to help them.

Then the most interesting things happened. God provided bags of groceries, a mini van, and odd jobs. Then the biggest surprise of all...a recording contract for David’s oldest daughter, Rebecca, age fifteen. She recorded her first album using an old family name, St. James.

Flash forward to today. David promotes his own daughter’s sold-out concerts. Rebecca St. James has become one of the hottest Christian artists in America. Christianity Today magazine has named her one of the top fifty up-and-coming evangelical leaders under age forty. We love asking her to sing at our evangelistic festivals around the country.

All along...no surprise...God knew what he was doing!

    "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'" (Jeremiah 29:11).

5. “Yes, I thought you’d never ask."

Many people think prayer is complicated. Actually, the simplest prayer can bring you the miracle you need, when you need it.

After a serious fall, an older gentleman named Luke Mulder prayed to receive Jesus Christ. He then prayed for his wife, Clara, who was visiting her sister in California. That very same day Clara heard a Gospel presentation and trusted Christ.

Christian cartoonist Ron Wheeler dreamed of creating evangelistic tracts, but he needed a new computer. He did his homework, found out what he needed, and started to pray. Two weeks later, a friend called Ron out of the blue and offered him a new computer...the exact model Ron had been praying about. Shortly after setting up the computer, Ron received a phone call from American Tract Society asking him to design a whole series of evangelistic cartoon tracts.

My friends Esteban and Carmela Tosoni were driving one of the highest mountain passes in the world when their car broke down at dusk. They were twenty miles from the nearest town. So the Tosoni family prayed for God to send help. When they opened their eyes, a mechanic appeared out of nowhere, walked straight over to their car, immediately asked if he could help, fixed their gas filter, then departed.

Coincidences? Hardly!

Keep Praying!

Scripture: “These were [the Lord's] instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields." (Luke 10:2 )

Sometimes, it seems there is too much to pray for, and not enough people praying. As of this writing, tremendous upheaval and civil war are occurring in at least three countries the Middle East. Governments in the West are spying on each other and bullying their own people. Other people around the world are disagreeing over their differences, while those in power persecute those with minority views or looks. How can God work with all this? Does He care about you and the people you are praying for amidst all this turmoil?
God Does Care

Scripture tells us, "This is real love — not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins" (1 John 4:10). His love extends not just to His people, but to all people; "God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish" (John 3:16).
God Hates Evil

Scripture makes it clear that God despises when we humans hurt one another. "The Lord hates ... haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family" (Proverbs 6:16-19). Instead, He says, "I the Lord love justice" (Isaiah 61:8).
God Wants Us to Pray

Although it might feel like we're praying against an unending tide of evil, Jesus told His followers "that they should always pray and never give up" (Luke 18:1). The Apostle Paul reminded us to "pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere" (Ephesians 6:18). We can trust that God will rule over everything -- from great events around the world, to the hearts of the people you love: "we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28).

Expanding Your Prayer
(The “Take 5” Challenge continued from last week)

Scripture: Luke 10:2

For the past few weeks, we’ve been challenging you to choose 5 people who don’t know Jesus, whom you feel God wants you to reach out to. We call it the “Take 5” Challenge. The challenge includes PRAYING for God’s blessing on them, for them to accept Jesus as their Savior, to befriend them, and to CARE for and encourage them. (If you didn’t get a chance to read that prayer letter, and choose 5 people to pray for, you can find out more here: Take 5 Challenge

The first part of the Take Five challenge is to pray for the Lord’s blessing on the people you’re ministering to daily. Also pray that they will meet Jesus as their Savior. You can even set aside 5 minutes at the same time every day to pray about these things. You can do this while you’re getting ready in the morning, or even in your car.

If you make this part of your daily routine, you may start feeling more blessed than usual! Here are some suggestions of ways you can expand on the prayer for the people you minister to:
•In Luke 10:2, Jesus asks us to pray for workers in the harvest because the harvest is so large. Today, with over 5 billion of the 7 billion people on earth not knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior, we need many workers in the harvest, so please pray for workers in the harvest in all communities on earth. This can even include prayer for people who minister on the ground and on the internet.
•In 1 Timothy 2:1-2, the Lord commands us to pray for all people including those in authority. You can pray for those in authority in your country, community, government, business, church, in media, education, law enforcement, justice and so on.
•A third suggestion may be to pray for the peace in other countries.

These are just suggestions. We encourage you to pray for anything God puts on your heart.

Your PRAY NOW Challenge: "Lord, I pray now for my Five, for workers in the harvest, for those in authority, for the peace of Jerusalem and for salvation for the Jews. Help me to stand before you daily for them. In the Name of Jesus, Amen."

The Power of a Friend

Scripture: The Lord now chose 72 other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places He planned to visit. Luke 10:1

"I also tell you this: if two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, My Father in heaven will do it for you." Matthew 18:19

Next to Jesus, the Apostle Paul is the most prominent character in the New Testament. His story is told in the book of Acts, and his instructional letters (epistles) to his spiritual children make up
Did He Do It Alone?

Of course, Paul was accompanied and guided by the Holy Spirit. But was that his only support? No! He traveled and worked with different partners and friends throughout his ministry.

First, one day while Christian prophets and teachers in Antioch "were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.' So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way" (Acts 13:2-3). As a team, Paul and Barnabas effectively shared the Gospel and established several churches.

As Paul began his second missionary journey, his team included Timothy, a young disciple whose mother was a Jewish Believer. "They went from town to town, instructing the Believers to follow the decisions made by the Apostles and elders in Jerusalem. So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day" (Acts 16:4-5).

Silas was yet another ministry companion, and suffered imprisonment with Paul. Through this trial, the Lord used Paul and Silas to lead others, including the jailer, to salvation. And when Paul and Silas rejoined their team, "they met with the Believers and encouraged them once more" (Acts 16:40).
Are You Alone?

Saint Paul was one of the most gifted evangelists ever. Time after time, God provided him with "faithful helpers who served with [him] in the Lord’s work" (Colossians 4:7). If the Lord allowed Paul to rely on partners, you can be sure it can be good for you! Ask the Lord to send someone to join you in the ministry He has for you.

“Support From a Friend”

Scripture: Luke 10:1

Have you ever heard the saying “two heads are better than one”? Whether you’re discipling, sharing the gospel or praying, doing those things with a friend who is also a believer can often be powerful when God is using you. Even the 72 disciples in Luke 10 were sent out in pairs to share the gospel. But remember, even when you’re not doing these things with a friend, you’re never alone because the Holy Spirit is with you (Acts 2).

There is power in agreement and accountability. We encourage you to meet or talk regularly with another follower of Jesus who prays, cares for, and shares Jesus with others. This support could take the form of helping each other in discipling a new believer, or praying together for others.

Jesus even explains in the Bible the power of agreement in Matthew 18:19, where He says that if two people agree on something and ask for it, it will be done for them by His Father in heaven.

You can even tell your friend about the Prayer Care and Share Jesus guide, and how it has helped you live out and share your faith based on teachings in the Bible. Teaching someone about it might even be helpful to you!

Your PRAY NOW Challenge: "Lord, I thank You for sending me the Holy Spirit to be with me as I live out my faith in Jesus. Show me, Lord, who I should ask to support me through prayer and accountability. I pray that you will bind us together in the journey of this friendship. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen."

Surely the Lord is in this Place

I’m back from deliverance @prayercity , and had a wonderful time with family and brethren.

Surely the LORD was with me, even in the colonoscopy and a barium enema!

I am “back on schedule” physically, YAY!

May we have the spiritual sense to realize that the LORD is in this place of present circumstance and challenge. Jesus is our ladder, and that means that “My God will supply all that you need from the glorious resources in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

#213 Surely the Lord is in this place Genesis 28.16 Part 2

The ladder we can claim

Having heard of Esau’s intent to kill him, Jacob travelled 48 miles from Beersheba, until the sun had set. In the dark of night he chose a large smooth stone on which to lay his head, and then he laid down to sleep. He knew he would not be present for his father’s death. He knew the intensity of his brother’s wrath. He was alone, and he felt alone, far away from God and far away from home. The fatigue and stress of his journey helped him fall into a deep sleep, and that sleep gave way to a vivid dream. In his dream he saw a ladder resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There beside him stood the LORD {Soncino}, and he said:

“I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring. I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:14-15

Jacob’s first thought upon awakening was one of gratitude. “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” His heart filled with awe and perhaps embarrassment for doubting God, as he exclaimed, “How awesome is this place. This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.” Genesis 28:16-17

Early that morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. He called that place Bethel, though the city {nearby} used to be called Luz. Genesis 28:18-19

Thus God assured Jacob that he would be protected according to the covenant promises of God. The ladder in the divinely given dream represented the reality of the Angels of divine power and provision. The angels were ascending—they were already on earth, with him, even though he didn’t notice that fact, figuratively bringing his need and vulnerability to heaven. The angels were descending, as divine power and provision was made available according to God’s direction. Perhaps it was the Logos as the Angel of God who stood beside him, creating the dreams and speaking the promises of God.

In this new year we can claim the message of this Dream. In John 1:51 Jesus states “I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” Jesus is our ladder, the access and bridge between our needs and vulnerability and the provision of God, now for his followers, and for all our human family in the Kingdom. Philippians 4:19

Upon this ladder, upon this connecting link between heaven and earth, between God and man, have descended to us the angels of divine favor, messages of love, and mercy, forgiveness and adoption, and on this same ladder are messages returned to the father, our prayers. We are accepted in the Beloved, we enter into the holies by faith, we receive the incoming and send back again the outgoing messages and messengers, and all of them upon the ladder, the connecting link, the Son of man, our Lord and Master, through whom alone we have access and relationship to the Father, and receive from him the exceeding great and precious things not only of this present life, but also of that which is to come.

The Power of Prayer

approach our Heavenly Father in prayer:

Adoration and Praise

Our Creator God is wonderful, and He deserves our praise! That’s why it’s good to start by praising Him. It also gives us a right perspective -- God’s greatness and power compared to our smallness. Jesus began The Lord's Prayer by acknowledging God's fatherly love, goodness, and rule over the earth: "Our Father in heaven, may Your Name be kept holy. May Your Kingdom come soon. May Your will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven" (Matthew 6:9-10).
Confession of Sins

"Everyone has sinned, [and] we all fall short of God’s glorious standard" (Romans 3:23). "Your sins have cut you off from God" (Isaiah 59:2), but we want to be close to Him! If we confess our sins to the Lord, "He is faithful and just to forgive us" (I John 1:9). Holding onto our sins builds a barrier between us and God. Confessing and repenting of them breaks down that wall.
Thanksgiving and Gratitude

How has God blessed you? How has He shown His love for you? Of course, we are thankful for His blessings. But we can even be grateful for problems and hardships, because He can use those to bring us closer to Himself. The Bible tells us to "be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus" (I Thessalonians 5:18).
Supplication and Requests Jesus taught that we can ask for what we need, and to be persistent in asking: "keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you" (Luke 11:9). We can trust that "if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us" (I John 5:14).

The Gospels record Jesus turning to the Father in prayer time after time, day after day. We are to follow His example and "pray without ceasing" (I Thessalonians 5:17).

In the Bible, God is clear about the power of the prayer of a righteous person. Isn’t it wonderful that the Creator of the Universe wants us to come to Him in prayer? Furthermore, God moves mightily when His children pray according to His Word!

Let’s go over some aspects of discipleship you can use to teach someone who has come to Christ about prayer.

Teaching your disciple to pray.

Prayer plays a vital role in someone’s relationship with God. Prayer should become a regular part of your life. You can encourage your disciple to begin with spending 15 minutes a day alone with God. Remind them that scripture can be used as a foundation of our prayers.

The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:8-15) is an excellent teaching model for prayer. At first you might pray through it slowly with them, emphasizing a true heart connect with God. Then, using this framework, you can expand and personalize the prayer time.

Encourage your disciple to start a prayer journal. They can write down their prayers and even keep track of prayers that God answers.

Also, encourage "be still" time as a part of your prayer - just being with Him and listening (Psalm 46:10).

The Power of the Bible

Scripture: Jesus told him, "The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Matthew 4:4 Jesus responded, "The Scriptures also say, 'You must not test the Lord your God.'" Matthew 4:7 "Get out of here, Satan," Jesus told him. "For the Scriptures say, 'You must worship the Lord your God and serve only Him.'" Matthew 4:10

In the Beginning
God has made an amazing universe. We read that "the Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. ... When He spoke, the world began! It appeared at His command" (Psalm 33:6, 9). In His account of the Good News, Jesus' friend John declared, "In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone" (John 1:1-4). Jesus was no ordinary man, but actually took part in creating the universe.

Power of the Word

God's people had been told long ago about the power of His Word: "'It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it'" (Isaiah 55:11). Because of that power, God knows all about everything He has made: "the Word of God is alive and powerful. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all Creation is hidden from God. And He is the one to Whom we are accountable" (Hebrews 4:12-13).

Trust in the Word

The Apostle Paul taught the young pastor Timothy the importance of being grounded in Scripture: "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right" (2 Timothy 3:16). Therefore, we rejoice in knowing that "The instructions of the Lord are perfect, the decrees of the Lord are trustworthy. The laws of the Lord are true; they are more desirable than gold" (Psalm 19).

“Learning God’s Word”
Matthew 4:4, 7 & 10

One of the main ways through which God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) reveals Himself to us is through the Bible. We believe that all Scripture (the words in the Bible) has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, and can be read as if it is God speaking to us.

In today’s passage, we see that Jesus quoted Scripture to satan when He was tempted, thereby refuting satan's words. Finally, satan left Him.

This demonstrates that knowing what is written in the Bible is critical for us as believers. The same is true for someone you may have led to Christ. Do your best to ensure that the new believer has a Bible, in his/her own language if possible. And, you can even help to make sure they know how to start reading the Bible.

The Bible can be difficult and confusing for a new Christian. This can happen if they start reading through the Old Testament -- it will be a long time before they get to the gospels, and start reading about Jesus, who is central to their new faith.

Here are a few simple steps you can use to encourage your new believer in getting to know the Bible:
• Suggest they start with the book of Luke followed by the book of Acts.
• You can then follow with Genesis and Exodus, then Matthew.
• Then suggest a Psalm each day, and at the same time, the gospel of John.
• If possible, get together regularly to discuss what they are reading.
• Make sure the believer understands the abbreviations of the books and how to use the index to the Old and New Testament.

The “Creation to Christ” story gives a very simple overview of the main message of the Bible.

You should also explain to your believer the power of the Word in speaking and praying. Give simple but powerful examples, such as Psalm 23 and John 3:16.

We talk about grudges the way we talk about babies. You can hold a grudge, carry a grudge bear a grudge, or nurse a grudge. The trouble is, when you nurse something you feed it, make it grow and pretty soon it’s full grown. Are you carrying a grudge? Why? It doesn’t make sense. Why would you pick up something each day that weight you down and carry it around with you? But they hurt m.’ Yes, but by carrying a grudge you enable them to keep hurting you. Don’t do that do that to yourself! We know we’re supposed to forgive other people, but sometimes forgiving feels like we are giving up something. One of Lincoln’s stories we about a man on his sickbed who had been told by the doctor that he didn’t have much time to live. He summoned an old friend named Brown with whom he’d quarreled bitterly. They didn’t spoken for years. The man talked of how he was going to die soon of how their petty differences looked in the face of death, and asked if they might be reconciled. The scene moved everyone in the room to tear. Brown clasped the dying man’s hands, embraced him, and turned to walk out of room, a shattered man. Suddenly the man. Suddenly the man on the sickbed, having one final thought, raised himself up on one elbow and spoke for the last time: ‘But see here, Brown; If I recover, the old grudge still stands. ’This story make us smile and think, ‘How foolish! But if you are carrying grudge, are you any different.

Love One Another: Becoming the Church Jesus Longs for
Loving people is only a vague concept, unless we do these five things: 1) People are insecure; give them confidence. Beneath their façade lie memories of a painful past and anxiety over what’s coming their way next. Tell them God says,’… I will never leave you nor forsake you’ (Hebrew 13:5 NKJV). When nothing else works, God’s Word does. 2) People you need to feel special compliant them. Do it when they least expect it, and it’s clear you seek nothing in return. Mary Kay Ash, founder of a major cosmetics company in the USA, said everyone has an invisible sign hanging around their neck saying, “Make me feel important!” ‘Notice how often God’s Words tells us how much He love us, how special we are, and His plans for us 3) People are looking for a better tomorrow: give them hope. Let them know that when you put God in the center of your life, your future can be better than your past. ‘… as long as he sought the Lord, God mad him prosper’ (2 Chronicles 26:5NKJV). 4) People need to be understood; listen to them. The trouble is this takes more time than we’re willing to give. We’re in too much of a hurry to hand out hand out advice and move on, and doesn’t work. Before people can be fixed,’ they must feel understood. 5) People need role (Corinthian 11:1 NIV). Too often we’re unaware of the example, as I and the impression we’re making. Like it or not, what you do and don’t do, influences others. When you leave this world, what you leave behind is your influence.

Making the tough calls...THE LORD IS ON MY SIDE; I WILL NOT FEAR…PSALM 118:6 NKJV

All the heroes of the Bible were flawed. And personally wise they were as different as chalk and cheese. But they’d one thing in common: they were willing to make the tough calls. Observe: 1) Tough calls demand risk. When the Soviet Union overran and annexed Latvia in 1940, the US Vice consul in Riga was concerned that the American Red Cross supplies in that city would be looted. To guard against it he requested permission from the state Department in Washington, DC to place an American flag above the Red Cross to deter anyone from talking the supplies. ‘No precedent exists for such action, the Secretary of State’s Office cabled back. When the Vice Consul receive message he climbed up and personally nailed the American flag to pole, then he cabled the State Department: ‘As of this date, I have established Precedent.’2) Tough calls require character. Chuck SwindollJesus: The Greatest Life of All (Great Lives Series) writes: ‘Courage is not limited to the battlefield or the Indianapolis 500 or bravely catching a thief in your house. The real tests of courage are much quieter. They are the inner tests, like remaining faithful when nobody’s looking, like enduring pain when the room is empty. Like standing alone when you’re misunderstood. ‘Whether you lead a family, a business or a church, the temptation to complain comes easy. Thank God for the tough times they’re the reason you’re there – to be the leader. If everything was going well you wouldn’t be needed when the tough calls must be made, your confidence can be found in these words: the Lord is on my side; I will not fear….’ (Psalm 118:6NKJV)
