Etienne Aigner is a label that most fashion geeks are familiar with. Well, fashion geeks, old heads and vintage collectors I think I'm two out of three. Vintage Shaun has about 14 Etienne Aigner pieces as of right now. As early as the 1950s the line became noted for great craftsmanship on leather products including belts, shoes and bags and some outerwear. With the trademark horseshoe and burgundy leather, the line debuted it's Fall Winter collection of accessories that warranted a die hard fashion geek to go new instead of old. First day of Fashion Week and I scored a backstage preview to womenswear line Candela. Known for hippie inspired beading with a prairie touch for Fall 2012, creative director Gabriella Perezutti was inspired by the gold rush of mid 19th century. The collection had a dark romantic look but still the gaucho inspired touches of sequin and beading that Candela is known for. The beauty team created a dewy look of pretty pinks and neutral on the lips and cheeks. The hair was a softly teased bun with a thin braid across the hairline. Zoya, provided the all flattering nail color of Pandora to give a feminine yet low maintenance look for the models' hands. Never had the gold rush looked so fashionable thanks to Candela.

New York Fashion Week is here and I'm more prepared than ever, or so I like to think. I have a sort of survival kit to make the next few days go as smooth as possible. Here are a few of my necessities to keep sane and fabulous.

Never in the history of morning shows have I been more captivated by the chic and stylish outfits worn by Today Show host Ann Curry. Her on air wardrobe can be described as feminine, whimsical, fun and quirky. Although Curry wears a number of designers some of her more standout looks are by mod mogul Lisa Perry. An avid vintage collector, Perry from Midwestern roots grew up in a bedroom filled with Marimekko prints. Her mod inspired collection shows a strong hand to an era long ago but still relevant for modern designers. Perry's take on sixties mod pop translates to many of the trapeze shaped, post modern print dresses seen on Curry. In fact, Perry has such a love for pop art, she recently did a limited collection based off of a pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.

I'm declaring 2012 the year of beautification and what better way to kick it off than getting beauty tips from newly crowned Miss America, Laura Kaeppeler a beauty with an uplifting spirit to match.

New Year, New You

Resolutions are abound in the New Year and I will admit I'm one of those losers who like to make a quasi resolution. Mine is to banish my sugar intake by about ninety percent, key words, ninety percent as in not one hundred percent. I have to allow a glass of wine and a piece of birthday cake for my friends born in January.

When I say sugar I really mean processed sugars found in high fructose corn syrup and alcohol the two devils that I blame directly for my recent weight gain. I drink my calories, and with my lifestyle it can be very easy to drink 500 calories per day and before you know it those skinny jeans are more like sausage casings. Giving up sugar is one of the hardest things to do. In my past experiences, yes readers, this is not my first time kicking sugar in fact this is my fourth giving up the legal toxin. Sugar is in everything and unless you are truly eating a full on organic and clean diet you'll have a hard time truly removing processed sugar from your diet.

Sugar is introduced to our bodies very early. Many forms of sugar are used as rewards. For example, how many of us grew up with candy as a reward for good behavior? I will note that I grew up in a home that was pretty well nourished and there was more fresh food especially fruit than any other homes I visited. Unfortunately as I got older and life became more hectic I fell into a trap of bad habits and this extra ten pounds I'm carrying around is directly related to it.

In my previous experiences of eliminating sugar I've faced headaches and extreme cravings. My trick to curb my cravings have been a cup of tea usually green or peppermint to calm my nerves and not make me reach for a Pepsi. In addition exercise is also an amazing way to curb cravings. The endorphins released from a work out of just 15 minutes will last for up to 12 hours. So next time you want to grab a brownie, do a set of sit ups and push ups and your craving will die off slowly.

I'm only a few days into this detox so wish me luck, it won't be easy but I'm hoping to remove this legal toxin from my body slowly for a healthier and lighter me.

Last night I headed north of 59th street to the Juicy Couture Spring/Summer 2012 Preview. Held in a stunning East Side townhouse mansion nicknamed Chez Juicy, mega editors from Lucky, Teen Vogue and the likes, packed in to view a whimsical collection that is true Juicy. With hair by MoroccanOil and makeup by NARS, my two personal favorites, the models channeled an innocent yet sexy vibe with wavy hair and dewy faces.
