India will host the Cricket -Finals of World Cup 2011

“The World Cup- 2011” has been scheduled to commence on 19th February 2009 and end on 2nd April 2011. India, Srilanka and Bangladesh are the joint-hosts of the tournament.

India will play against Bangladesh in the opening match of the series to be hosted by and to be held in Bangladesh.India will host the Finals and one Semi-Final of the “World Cup -2011”.
The quarter-finals will be hosted by:

India-1
Srilanka-1
Bangladesh-2

India will host 29 out of the total 49 matches in the tournament.

Bangladesh will host 8 matches in 2 venues. The opening ceremony will be on 18th February 2011.

Srilanka will host 12 matches in 3 venues.

Due to security reasons Pakistan has been stripped of the hosting rights of the matches in the World cup.

The 14 matches originally scheduled to take place in Pakistan have been redistributed to:-

Srilanka-4
Bangladesh-2

Sachin Tendulkar creates unbreakable records in cricket

"India’s Cricket Super Star"- Sachin Tendulkar has crossed 17000-run mark in One Day Internationals.On 5th November 2009, Tendulkar became the first batsman to score 17 000 runs in ODI’s at the age of 36 years.

When his score was just 7 runs during the fifth ODI against Australia at Hyderabad, and his 435th game in the ODI’s, Tendulkar created this unique record.

Surprisingly and shockingly to Indian cricket fans, in the match in which the Indian player Sachin scored a wonderful 175 runs, even after creating the record, India had to lose the match by just three runs.

Already Sachin had become " the first player to score 50 centuries in all international cricket", in both the one day and the series form of the game. Now, he has got more than 80 international centuries.

When Sachin was a student of just 15 years old, in the inter-school -“Haris Shield” cricket-tournamentats among schools in Mumbai, Sachin had scored 346 runs and created a record.

Only after 21 years another Mumbai student- cricket player- Sarfarsh Khan could break Sachins record. Sarfarash Khan , at the age of 12 years , with 439 runs broke the record created by Sachin.

Other present leading run-scorers in ODI with 10,000 runs or more are:-

Sanath Jayasuriya-(Srilanka) -40 years- (13,377 runs),
Ricky Ponting-(Australia)- 34 years- (12,286 runs),
Inzamam-ul Haq- (Pakistan)- 39 years- (11,739 runs),
Sourav Ganguly- (India)-37 years= (11,363 runs),
Rahul Dravid-(India)- 36 years-10,765 (runs),
Brian Lara- (West Indies- 40 years- 10,405 (runs) and
Jacques Kallis- (South Africa)-34 years- (10,328 runs).

Can we expect any one of the above achievers to break Sachin's record(17 000 runs/at 36 years), in view of their age and the runs yet to be taken?!

Perhaps, we will have to wait for another 25 years to see, whether any other young cricket player would be able to break this record of Sachin Tendulkar.

News and Views on the Ban on Pre-Paid Mobile Phones in Jammu&Kashmir

Pre-paid SIM-Cards banned in Jammu&Kashmir on 3rd November 2009.

In view of the Terrorists -Activites in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, the Government of India has suddenly banned , all pre-paid SIM- Cards for about 3.8 million Mobile Phone users by an announcement by the Honble.Home Minister of India, Mr.P.Chidambaram with effect from 1st November 2009.

By this ban there will be:-

No more new Pre-paid Mobiles and
No renewal of the existing pre-paid SIM-cards.

According to the Indian Home Minister of India, the extension of this ban to the other parts of the country and the whole of India is unwarranted as of now.

Views:-
Mobile Phones are a wonderful tool of communications.

There are two broad types of Mobile Phones the details of which must be known to all :-

Post-Paid
pre-paid.

The credit of making a "Class" mode of communication to a "Mass" mode must certainly go the the Government of India.

The portfolio of Mobile Phones are taken care of by the"Telecom Regulatory Authority of India" (TRAI) .

Due to the combined and co-ordinated efforts and hardwork of the Government of India with the support of Private Business Magnets, the use of Mobile phones in India has enormously increased almost fulfilling the dreams of not only the Ambanis, but also those of the rulers of India as well.

Obviously, anybody can obtain a mobile phone easily with fake address/Id Proof/Photo etc., under the Pre-paid category, in comparison to obtaining Post-paid Mobile connections, subject to strict verification of address and, identification.

In a free country like India "anybody" can obtain "either type" of Mobile Phone. They may use any equipment in any manner they wish.

As recently found out,there is a danger in case of Pre-paid Mobile Phones, as the Terrorists against India, in general, and against the State of Jammu&Kashmir, in particular.

The terrorists along with the innoncent people of India will obtain Pre-paid Mobile Phones easily with fake address and Identification as said above.

Naturally they will use the phones like any other equipment only against India and Jammu&Kashmir.

This ban of Pre-paid Mobile Phone service at Jammu & Kamshmir has:-

Caused sudden and unexpected inconvenience to the Mobile Phone users in millions, and

left about 20 000 otherwise unemployed youths who were earning from Rs 8000/- to Rs 10 000/- pm from the pre-paid Mobile services.

Many persons had started Pre-paid SIM CARD service even by availing Bank/Private Loans for setting up their shops and they are now at a fix.

The matter of imposing the ban on Pre-paid SIM CARD is viewed by the Mobile Phones Users and STD/PCO Owners as:-

a wrong decision of the Government of India and

while the instructions of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) were followed strictly while verifying credentials of users, the Government’s action is unwarranted.
And, this ban from the Home Minister has followed the recent visit of the Prime Minister -Dr.Manmohan Singh to Jammu & Kashmir and flashed a political package to the people of Jammu&Kashmir.

However, Honble. Home Minister of India, Mr.P.Chidambaram reacted to the sentiments of the affected Pre-paid Mobile users and the persons dealing in SIM CARDS by saying:-

that the action has been taken in the interest of the country and
that the Government has called for a meeting with the Mobile Service Providers to reconcile between the interest of the service providers and the interest of the country in the defence angle and requested all the concerned people
not to give a wrong and alarming picture of inconvenience and unemployment.

However, in case of the intention of the Government of India and the Home Minister is true, we can expect the same ban throughout the country, or at least in other states where the terrorists activities are equally dangerous, if not in the same magnitude and dimensions or more, as in Jammu&Kashmir.

However, the deciding authorities will have to face the reaction of various State Governments, both in opposition and in support from within or from outside, blended with multiple political parties.

Many political parties' supporters will get affected by such a ban, if extended to other states.

We can be assured that our wise rulers/leaders, who are well aware of how and when to reconcile between the country's security and other factors, will not take such a hasty decisions affecting the stability of the Government of India.

It is surprising to note that how the Post-Paid Mobiles will help in tracing the mis users with the duly verified address, Photo Identification etc.

Dr.Ms.Ada Yonath 70 years old- Israeli Lady Scientist-the fourth woman to win Nobel Prize for Chemistry, and the first woman to win a Chemistry Nobel Prize after 45 years.

for mapping the ribosome, the cell mechanism which makes proteins and their work is fundamental to the scientifice understanding of life and has helped researchers to develop anitbiotics.

Beware! The cost of Electricity is increasing- Reduce Consumption or be ready to pay more

Coal India has proposed a 11% hike in coal prices and consequently, the expenses of power generation by NTPC will go up. It is notable that out of 30 000 MW power generated by NTPC 26 000 MW come from coal-based plants and the hike in rate of electricity will be inevitable.NTPC will naturally increase the rates charged for supplying power to the distributors.Each state has its own “State Electricity Regulatory Commission”, which decides on power tariffs. According to power ministry sources, the hike in raw material prices will be automatically passed on to the distribution firm by the generating company.Hence, as the result of Coal India hiking coal prices the consumers/the end-users of electricity will have to spend more for their monthly/bi-monthly EB bills.

We must try to reduce consumption of Electricity, or be ready to pay more of EB Bill. We must switch off unnecessary lights and fans in our houses and even in offices and public places.

Inspite of increasing announced/pre-planned power-cuts and frequent power-cuts for maintenance sometimes the road lights are not switched off even after 8'O clock in the morning in some cities, due to perhaps the failure of auto-switch off system. This matter must be taken care of by the concerned Electricity Board or Corporation Officials.

India will own two Dedicated Satellites by 2011 to study Environment

Indian Space Reasearch Organization had already launched the 83 kg small earth observation satellite (IMS-1) in April 2008 with two optical instruments - a Multi-spectral camera and a Hyperspectral camera to operate in the visible and near infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.IMS-1 is already in the study of effects of ocean, land and atmosphere.Japan and some European Countries have so far, launched dedicated satellites to monitor emission of greenhouse gases. According to Dr. G.Madhavan Nair, the Chairman of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), India will join Japan and other European countries, when India will have two own satellites by the year 2011. The first will be a 50 kg micro-satellite to conduct atmospheric research and the second will be a remote sensing satellite to monitor emission of greenhouses gases like methane and carbon dioxide.

Deepavali or Diwali is a festival of Lights and Lamps which is celebrated in many parts of India and by Indians living all over the world.
Diwali will be normaly celebrated on the "New Moon Day" in the first week of the Tamil month of "Iyppasi" or the last week of the Tamil Month "Purattasi".

Diwali of 2009 is being celebrated on 17th October 2009, Saturday in India and Tamilnadu.

This year’s Diwali has become a pure “Vegetarian Diwali” being celebrated on the last day of the Tamil Fasting Month of "Purattasi", and incidentally on a Saturday of Purattasi on a day the Fasting will be very strictly adhered to by the Hindu people celebrating the festival. The vegetables and fruits vendors had a very good business in this year's Diwali.
The next day that is the 18th October 2009, Sunday, the first day of the Tamil Month of “Iyppasi” will be a “Non-Vegetarian” Feast day for the people celebrating the vegetarian Diwali.

In Tamilnadyu,the Diwali celebrations as usual began with everyone in the family taking an oil bath before sunrise, a custom arising from a belief that having an oil bath in the morning on the day of Diwali is equivalent to taking bath in the Ganges.

Crackers were burst as an integral part of the Diwali celebrations. And Kuthu Vilakkus/ Oil lamps were lit in the Puja rooms of the Hindus celebrating the festival.

Sweets and special items of karas made in the houses and purchased from sweet stalls were shared with neighbours, relatives and friends as another important part of the Diwali celebrations.

As usual all the Television Channesl had special events for Diwali with Interviews with Film Personalities and Debates on interesting subjects starting from the morning and ended with popular films in many channels.

Diwali marking the victory of Light over Darkness and Good over Evil is a season when people spend a lot of money in purchasing Jewels, house-hold articles, dress and sweets. This is a good harvesting season for many people in businesses related to the above things and especially crackers. Diwali is both a religious festival as well as a commercial one.

The passengers can use the Touch-Screen, user-friendly TVM’s with the display of details of fare etc in English and Hindi, and use Rs50/-and Rs10/- currency notes and Rs5/-and Re1/-coins for getting the tickets according to their choices.
The Machines have been so designed that they will not accept soiled/mutilated and fake currency notes.
Let us hope that the TVM’s will be soon installed in major railways stations in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad also.
However, the Platform Tickets Vending Machines at some Stations in Tamilnadu, like Chennai Egmore and Tiruchirappalli are mostly out of order for reasons best known only to the Railway officials.
At Chennai Egmore passengers/public have to rush from one end to the other for getting the Platform-tickets. It is a good idea to make a rule that only passengers who are going to travel should enter the platform. However, for sending off elderly and sick persons it is inevitable for the relatives and friends to step into the platforms.

Also,Mr.Anil Ambani surprisingly and unexpectedly offered to reconcile with his elder brother Mr.Mukesh and resolve their differences and told that he was having love and respect for his elder brother and he would fulfill his mother's wish and get the issues settled. However, "Reliance Industries" has argued the row goes beyond a mere family squabble.

As the disputes between the two business wings of the brothers seem to be out of their family level settlements and the case in the country’s apex court on the gas issue will be inevitable, only the Supreme Court of India should pave ways for amicable/legitimate settlements in the issue/s between the two business groups of the same family of Ambanis.

When is Diwali going to be celebrated this year?

In most parts of India and by Indians in various countries Diwali will be celebrated on 17th October 2009, as we know.

However, the US President Mr.Barrack Obama celebrated Diwali in advance on 14th Ocober at the White House-East Room , with lighting of lamps and chanting of Vedic Mantras seeking World Peace. The Nobel Prize winner for Peace rightfully prayed for World Peace in his celebration of Diwali.

The Indian Union Minister of Commerce Mr. Anand Sharma who visited USA and Ms.Meera Shankar, the Indian Ambassador to the US were among other US Cabinet members and many Indo-American members of Mr.Obama’s administration who attended the Diwali celebrations at the White House.Mr.Obama wished the people around the world "A Happy Diwali" and "Saal Mubarak" and told that the festival of lamps symbolizes the victory of:-

Light over Darkness
Knowledge over Ignorance.

In his Diwali message, Mr.Obama reminded that Diwali is a time of rejoicing and a time for reflection when we will have to remember those who are less fortunate and when we have to renew our commitments to reach the people who are in need.

Beware of Emails seeking Personal Informations from Fake Income Tax Department

Nowadays, e-mails are received by many persons in India from a fake website of Income Tax Department of India fraudulently created and operated by some American Company seeking Personal Informations such as:- Details of Financial Transactions/ Secret password/s/Internet Passwords/Transaction Passwords /Details of credit cards/PIN numbers of ATM cards etc.The e-mails will state that personal information is being sought ostensibly for the purpose of sending income tax refunds and warns of penal consequences of non-furnishing thereof.Upon receiving the information of such a fraud misusing the name of Income-Tax Department of India, the officials of Indian IT Department have clarified that:-Income-Tax Department will not send any e-mail asking the Income-Tax Payers and the public to send any personal informatioIncome-Tax Department will not seek such details online·

The details of the tax payers are obtained either electronically or in the hard copy according to prescribed procedures and by prescribed authorities at the time of filing of returns.According to the Income-Tax Department, Tax-Payers and Public must always logon to the web-site of the Income-Tax Department by typing the proper URL in the address bar and give their User- ID and Password only at the authenticated login page.

What is the Ball of Light which fell from the sky in the northern Germany?

There is a news about a mysterious ball of light falling down from the sky to the earth in the northern Germany on 14th October 2009 night and the people who saw the falling of some luminous object from the sky were alarmed and many people telephoned to the Fire Services and the Police about the strange fire-ball falling down.

The people who saw the falling light object have described it as:-

a "burning ball"
a "glowing object in the sky"
"crumbled and fell to the ground"

Mr.Grau, the founder of the European Research Center for Fireballs and Meteorites told that they have got the pictures of the fireball and the meteor cloud.

What is a Meteor?

Asteroids/Meteors are small pieces of extra-terrestrial matter which become visible as a shooting stars or falling stasr when they enter the earth's atmosphere. While the objects are in the area outside the atmosphere, they are called a “meteoroids”.
As a meteor it is heated to incandescence/glowing through friction due to collisions with air molecules and usually disintegrates completely before reaching the earth.
Those meteors large enough to reach the ground are called “meteorites”.
A meteor of considerable duration and brightness is known as a fireball.
A fireball which explodes in the air is called a “bolide”.

So, it is obvious that the fireball which fell from the sky into the north sea off Germany and Netherlands is a Meteorite and the fireball.

However, across the border in the Netherlands, sounds were reported which typically accompany large meteorites falling to earth, such as rumbling thunder and a sonic boom.

The State Government of Kerala has commissioned the first stage of its third IT Park named Info-Park, at Koratty in Trichur District which is at 50 km from Cochin, for improving infrastructure of IT industries.
The infrastructure of IT industries in Kerala has increased by four times in the past three years when the state government of Kerala has made an investment of Rs 300 crores in IT infrastructure and has succeeded to attract a private investment of Rs 1200 crores and create 8000 jobs.
The State Government of Kerala expects an investment of Rs 10 000 crores in IT sector in the next 5 years and creation of 2 lakhs jobs in the next two years.

Will the World End on 21st December 2012?

There has been a recent speculation, belief or prediction that the world will end on the 21st December 2012. We have only three years and two and a half months left for the doomsday!Also there is a news that the famous Scientist, Sir Isac Newton had already predicted that the world will end in the year 2060. His predictions in the World of Science have proved to be true. What will be the result of his this prediction on the end of the World?
Will the World end at some point of time, on some day, whether on 21st December 2012 after three years from now or in the year 2060 after 51 years from now, as it has been predicted by many sources?
The talks on the end of the world has been there for a very long time, since the beginning of recorded times/history and many people of different religions have predicted on the time and the manner of the end of the world.
The latest predicted date for the end of the world was 31st December 1999, which has been crossed without the end of the world. However, the world has not ended on the predicted date. Some other people were expecting the end of the world on 31st December 2000. Then also the world had not seen its end on that day. There are more dates thus speculated on the end of the world in the early AD’s which were proved to be wrong predictions.

However, on the predicted days the earth has faced some attack from some celestial body or high degree of radiations from Sun or disasters such as earthquakes, world wars, tsunamis, floods, cyclones etc.

Another prediction of the end of the world on 21st December 2012 is now on hand for us to see whether the world will have an end on that day. There are many reasons for fixing the end of the world on 21st December 2012 by many people.

The predictors believe that with the conclusion of a lengthy cycle of the Mayan Calendar the world will come to an end on that day. Also the Mayans who lived 11500 years ago, before the previous major global event, who could calculate the lunar moon nearly accurately as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds off, have predicted that the world will end on 21st December 2012.

The "Sun storms" are one of the strongest reasons for believing a disaster/end of the world in 2012. Few years ago, the sun dramatically increased its radiation energy to levels much higher than registered in a long time. Its behavior definitively is cyclic and there is a clear 11+ year recurring cycle. Now, a couple of years after the last serious activity increase, 2012 announces the height of the 11+ years cycle announcing much higher activity than already measured in recent years. Since the recent storms already accounted for knocking out power grids and destroying satellites, there is a very clear indication that the next round in 2012, will be of previously unseen magnitude, impacting our planet Earth and the technology in its orbit. Calculations suggest that it will reach its deadly peak sometime late in 2012. Also, they believe that the Earth will experience unprecedented, cataclysmic disasters ranging from massive earthquakes and tsunamis to nuclear meltdowns.

However, the famous Scientist and Inventor Sir. Isac Newton has predicted that the world will come to an end on 31st December 2060. His prediction of this end of the world is based on his religious beliefs and calculations based on Bible, rather than scientific reasons.

What do other Religions say on the end of the world?

The planet’s major religions each have their own beliefs about the end of the world, the triumph of good over evil and Judgment Day.
In Christianity in their “Holy Bible” the last book of the bible, “The Book of Revelation” there is a detailed description about the final battle on Earth between the forces of God and Satan. The last day of such a battle will be the end of the world and that will be the Final Judgement Day according to Christians. Christ during his life on earth. Further, Jesus Christ has said that this Earth and Heaven(Sky) will perish, whereas his"Words" will never perish.

Many Christians are proclaiming the Second Coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ and they have been telling that the Judgement Day has come nearer and Jesus would be coming 'soon' and this proclamation has been done by them since the Fist Century AD.

In the Bible there is clear indications that the world will end one day, and the date and time of the end will be known only to God, the Creator, as pronounced by Jesus Christ himself.
In Islam, the end of the world is referred to as the “Hour” and involves Jesus returning to Damascus to slay an anti-Christ who has put the planet Earth in peril. With the anti-Christ out of the picture, a period of perfect harmony will ensue. Jesus will later die a natural death, which will usher in a time of destruction that leads directly to the “Hour”.
In Judaism, there are references in the Hebrew bible to events that could be compared with those in the bible, including the Day of the Lord, in which God causes death and destruction to people who deserve to be punished the War in which Israel and its god will fight their enemies, rather than an anti-Christ.
In Hinduism, there is the story of the god Vishnu coming back in the last cycle of time as a figure called “Kalki”, who will ride a white horse, carrying a sword which will look like a comet and destroy the forces of evil.

In some Buddhist prophecies, the equivalent of “The Judgement Day” is mentioned in which good will triumph over evil; however, the planet earth will be restored rather than destroyed to enable people to pursue enlightenment.

As the world, that is the earth and the sky are said to have a beginning and from non-existence started to exist ,whether by creation by a Supernatural Power- God who existed without a beginning or evolved naturally we know that the world began on some day. If there is a beginning for anything there will be end also. Above all the theories and religious interpretations, the only thing which is certain about the end of the world is that no one can know for sure what will happen on the end of the world and when it will happen. And until that day end day, unending speculations on the end of the world will continue.

According to the will of Mr.Alfred Nobel, the founder of Nobel Prizes, the ‘Nobel Peace Prize’ should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

A List of Indians awarded Nobel Prize

The following six Indians have been awarded Nobel Prize in various fields, so far:-
1. Rabindranath Tagore, India’s popular poet and writer was awarded Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 for his “Geetanjali” a collection of his poems.
2. Chandra Shekar Venkata Raman/Sir C.V.Raman, Indian Scientist was awarded Nobel Prize of Physics in 1930 for his “Raman Effect” related to light.
3. Dr. Hargobind Khorana, India’s Doctorate in Chemistry was awarded Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1968 for his study of the Human Genetic Code and its role in Protein Synthesis.
4. Mother Teresa, a Yogoslavian nun who became an Indian citizen was awarded Nobel Prize for Peace in 1979 for her service through her Charitable Mission “Nirmal Hriday” at Calcutta to people suffering from Leprosy and to those people dying in destitute.
5. Dr.Subramanian Chandrashekar, an Indian Astro-Physicist was awarded Nobel Prize for Physics in 1983 for his theory on white dwarf stars’ limitation known as ‘Chandrasekhar Limit’.
6. Dr.Amatya Sen, an Indian Professor in Economics was awarded Nobel Prize for Economics in 1998 for his work in Economic Theory related to Poverty, Democracy, Development and Social Welfare.
