For long spans, an alternative is cantilever segmental construction. Beam is started in the pier and built up as cantilever in two ways. In this way, cantilevers must be symmetrical. Segements can be cast in situ or precast and erect it on site.&lt;br /&gt;

Another type is the incremental launching. A factory is built at the beggining of the bridge where the girder is constructed and launched as a cantilever. It is not required any prop since at the tip of the deck is placed a beam that gives support to the deck that comes behind.&lt;br /&gt;

acceleration of the ground by earthquake. However, the acceleration in the
structure is &lt;b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"&gt;higher because of dynamic
amplification&lt;/b&gt;. In fact, for an average building the acceleration could be
increased up to 2.5 to 3.0 PGA (Melbourne). Rigid buildings are controlled by
acceleration. PGA can be well measured using &lt;b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"&gt;strong motion accelerometers placed close of the epicenter&lt;/b&gt; of the
earthquake. The response of the structure depends on the duration of the pulse

by &lt;b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"&gt;seismometers place far away of the
epicente&lt;/b&gt;r, which could be quite complex. PGV is also related to MMI
intensity and with the PGA = PGV/750 (All the values for Rock in Melbourne)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

The main elements involved in the design are shear core, footings, beams, floors and columns. In terms of the total cost of HB, floor is 40% and core a 30%. Therefore, an economic design has to reduce the floor or wall thick, because just a couple of millimeters imply a huge decrease in the total cost.



Designs can be improved learning of the other’s mistakes. First, the design of short beams cannot be analyzed thinking that its behavior is similar to a beam under bending moment, which implies a minimum reinforcement. The right design should be made considering a truss model. Second, when is required a construction joint, the grout should be a concern thus the strength should be rise at least the same strength resistant of the concrete. Third, pedestrian comfort is a topic usually not thought. High Rise Buildings modify the airflow, thus the wind force is moved not only to the sides, in fact is also spread downwards to the pedestrians. When this force increases could be quite uncomfortable for pedestrians who are walking in the ground floor. Also the design of buildings should be simple. In other words, the vertical loads should be transferred to the ground in a simple way. The lower levels cannot be weaker than the upper.



Nowadays, our technology let us built buildings of 2km height, without problem. The fire control however is a limitation. The requirements lead to let escape to people in just a minutes. Lift can not be used, parachutes are not a safety solution, therefore we have to expect that someone who lives in the last floor escaped alive.



High-rise design has three main characteristics that have to be considered: strength, stability and serviceability (deflections). Lateral loads, like wind and earthquake controlled the behavior of these structures, whereas short buildings are governed by strength of individual elements.



Therefore the HR design has to be focus in to assess the magnitude of wind and earthquake loads and lateral displacements or drift to limit the formation of plastic hinges. The engineer has to be aware of the effects on non-structural elements, like dry walls, which cannot resist vertical loads. It is required a analysis of second order effects like P-D, creep movements and differential movements. A analysis of overall stability against overturning and sliding and the assessment of soil properties are also required.



The optimum design has to be lead to reduce the core size, which is quite complex and require the participation of the all sectors, not only the structural engineer. Con el objeto de diseñar de forma rápida perfiles de acero, en ocasiones es necesario tener un listado de ellos ya sea de manuales ICHA o CINTAC, siendo los más utilizados. Es por ello que pongo a su disposición una planilla excel con un listado de perfiles, como por ejemplo: L, C, T, I, H, IN, UP, etc.

&lt;br /&gt;
Lo bueno de esta planilla, es que está realizada con macros por lo que además es posible mediante una interfase muy sencilla buscar el perfil que buscamos. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Lo importante&lt;/span&gt; es que la dirección de la carpeta de imágenes se encuentre correctamente redireccionada, pues de lo contrario aparecerá un mensaje de error.

La planilla entrega propiedades de inercia, áreas, radios de giro, etc.

Con esto te olvidas de todos los problemas que existen con la compatibilidad de formatos. De esta forma, si puedes ver el video en tu PC, entonces lo puedes ver en tu LCD.

Además, si bien con Media Player puedes ver tus archivos, la velocidad de transferencia es muy lenta, por lo que este programa además acelera la velocidad, pudiendo reproducir incluso películas en formato HD. Ahora estoy viendo AVATAR HD en mi PS3 sin ningún problema.

Este es un extracto de lo que señaló el experto, Rodolfo Saragoni, respecto a los edificios que colapsaron con el terremoto en 2010.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
&lt;span style="font-style:italic;"&gt;Rodolfo Saragoni, ingeniero civil y académico de la Universidad de Chile, manifestó en Cooperativa que los edificios colapsados por el terremoto del 27 de febrero no cumplían con la norma de construcción chilena.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
"La norma es una norma de protección de vida. Lo que vimos en el edificio Alto Río de Concepción, no está permitido por la norma. Creo que estamos en condiciones de mejorar la norma sin costos sustantivos, pero en el caso de los edificios con fallas, obviamente hay vicios", afirmó Saragoni.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
El experto declaró sentir "vergüenza" ante las imágenes de rescatistas entre los escombros en las zonas afectadas por el sismo, porque "nunca se había visto en Chile" una imagen parecida.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
El académico explicó que si las construcciones se atañen a la norma de edificación en Chile, estas estructuras no se ven dañadas.&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Lo que dice nustro sensei es cierto. Gran cantidad de edificios que cumplen con la norma no sufrieron daños. Si bien estos no colapsaron, no se justifica que hayan fallado. Algo mal está ocurriendo en Chile. Acaso no existe fiscalización, los ingenieros son pencas, es un tema de ahorro de costos? Respecto a ala dirección del sismo parece que este fue en sentido norte sur, puesto que los muros que he visto que han fallado se encuentran en esa dirección. Las bibliotecas en mi oficina que cayeron, son las que se encuentran en esa dirección.

Se debe emplear cualquiera de las siguientes combinaciones:
- Sobrepresión (hacia el centro) equivalente a 0.21kg/cm²  de presión estática que actua en cualquier parte del exterior y techo.
- Sobrepresión de succión (presión negativa actuando hacia afuera) equivalente a 700kg/m² de presión

Lo malo, que de repente aparecen unos pantallazos recomendando compara la versión full.

Luego ejecutar la rutina escribiendo COT y enter.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Primero se les pregunta la cota de referencia del perfil, por jemplo 2730.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Luego se pregunta por las escalas verticales y horizontales de su dibujo. Yo suelo usar 1/1000. Pero depende de cada quién.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Luego hagan click en el origen, es decir, en el eje del camino, es decir, para distancia al eje igual a 0, y cota igual a la cota de referencia.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Con esto configurado, nos ponemos a hacer click en las cotas de terreno y rasante. Automáticamente se empezarán a insertar los textos de las cotas en orientación vertical.

Finalmente el perfil transversal nos debiese quedar de la siguiente forma (Hacer  click en la imágen).

Para el diseño de estanques de Acero para almacenamiento de líquidos combustibles se debe utilizar la norma API Standard 650. La última edición que tengo en mi poder es la versión 2007.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Esta norma entrega requerimientos mínimos para materiales, diseño, fabricación, construcción, etc.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Por ejemplo entrega recomendaciones para el diseño del manto del estanque, como espesores mínimos de planchas. Además incluye un apéndice E, destinado al diseño sísmico de estanques, mediante el cual se incorpora el empuje impulsivo y convectivo del contenido de líquido producido por el sismo, dependiendo de la zona sísmica.
&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Navegando en la red, encontré que existen softwares de diseño de estanques que traen incluída esta norma. Uno de ellos es &lt;a href="http://www.etank.com/"&gt;Etank2000&lt;/a&gt; que incluye varios diseños según al API 650, API 620, API 2000 entre otros.

Una vez instalada, al momento de entrar a youtube, bajo el video verán el ícono &lt;img src=https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/images/addon_icon/13990/1257022817&gt;, y junto a él, los distintos formatos de video que pueden bajar. Haciendo click sobre el formato, aparecerá una nueva ventana donde se les preguntará donde descargar dicho archivo. Eso es todo. Yo prefiero usar el formato flv, pues es compatible con formatos para pasar a dvd. Con el formato mp4, en ocasiones he tenido problemas con el sonido.

Esto se debe a que los espesores de las placas de acero en Chile se encuentran estandarizadas a los siguientes espesores:

5 mm - 6 mm - 8 mm - 10 mm - 12 mm - 14 mm - 16 mm - 18 mm
20 mm - 22 mm - 25 mm - 28 mm - 32 mm - 35 mm - 40 mm - 50 mm

Usando estas placas se asegura una buena calidad de soldado. Para entenderlo mejor, un video incluye imágen y audio, pero en ocasiones solo quiero escuchar el audio, ya sea para escucharlo en mi pendrive, o en mi computador. La forma de convertir los videos de youtube a mp3 e smuy sencilla.

Paso 1: Busca el video que quieres en youtube.

Paso 2: en otra página ve al siguiente sitio &lt;a href="http://www.vidtomp3.com/"&gt;VID TO MP3&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;br&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.vidtomp3.com/imgs/logo.gif"&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Paso 3: En él copia la dirección de youtube y dale click a Download. Con esto comenzará el proceso de conversión del video a mp3.

Se añade una nueva sección para cursos de Ingeniería, el cual corresponde al curso de tecnología del hormigón, que tiempo atrás era dictado por el profesor Atilano Lamana. El IELTS es una prueba o test de admisión a universidades para alumnos cuya primero idioma no es el inglés. Este test es solicitado por Australia e Inglaterra. También existe el TOEFL, pero este es reconocido por Estados Unidos principalmente.

Es así como encontré en youtube estos cursos de preparación para el IELTS, elaborados por el gobierno de Australia. Muy recomendable.&lt;br&gt;

En Chile, no se encuentra una galeria de puentes que permita visualizar la belleza de los existentes, los cuales muchas veces se encuentran escondidos, o por la rapidez con lo que uno pasa no es posible apreciarlos.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;El objetivo de esta sección, es describir someramente las características de algunos de estos puentes, y presentar algunas imágenes de ellos. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Como primer puente, les presento "El puente Llolleo", en la V región, un puente ferroviario antiquísimo, pero que aún se encuentra en funcionamiento. Es por ello que se debe cumplir con estos límites que señala la normativa vigente&amp;nbsp; (ACI 318S-05 o también AASHTO 1996).&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;La tensión admisible del acero inmediatamente después de la transferencia no debe ser mayor que el mínimo de los siguientes valores:&lt;br&gt;fpa = min(0.74fpu o 0.82fpy)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Las tensiones admisibles de la pieza de hormigón también se limitan a los siguientes valores, en el caso de que se requiera un diseño no fisurado, o clase U según ACI318-05:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Tensión en fibra en compresión inmediatamente después de la transferencia: 0.60f'ci&lt;br&gt;Tensión en fibra en tracción inmediatamente después de la transferencia: 0.25(f'ci)^0.5&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Tensión en fibra en compresión debido al pretensado efectivo y todas las cargas: 0.60f'c&lt;br&gt;Tensión en fibra en compresión debido al pretensado efectivo y a  las cargas sostenidas en el tiempo: 0.45f'c&lt;br&gt;
