Kelantan - Tumpat One Day Trip (Part 2)

After visted to Wat Photivihan, we went to another temple. Yes, don't feel weird. There are actually a numbers of temples in Kelantan although this is an islamic state. The next temple we visited was Wat Mai Suwankiri. (龙船寺) which is located in Tumpat too.

There is a 400 years old dragon boat and a standing Buddha. We were amazed by the huge standing Buddha from the entrance and misunderstood that it was a Standing Buddha Temple. Instead, it is the famous Dragon Boat Temple. Opps, sorry for the mixing up.

Like other temples in Kelantan, the temple was constructed more than 100 years by craftman from Thailand. The interior of the main temple is such majestic. You will be stunned by the huge gigantic Standing Buddha at top of the building.

ANother main attraction in the Wat Mai Suwankiri, the Dragon Boat.There are 4 dragons act as "guardian", and the boat is surrounded by water.

You will notice that I don't take many photos of each temple even I found that the architectual is amusing me. One of the reasons is that I do not know whether the action of photographing inside the temple is prohibited, and another reason is the weather on that day is terribly hot.

I believe I will revisit all this temples plus some temples which are already on my list soon. Do stay tune for more updates .

Kelantan - Tumpat One day Trip (part 1)

Due to boringness here, we decided to go for one day trip nearby. You see, life here is like very peaceful and back to those time when our parents were young. No cinema, no shopping complex , no city entertainment here. Gonna find something to keep ourselves happy, right?

Upon some very last minutes google search before falling asleep, we came out with some lists of visit : a) Wat Photivihan (the sleeping buddha) at Tumpat. OK, at least one choice had been chosen. We believed we can go for other places of interest with the little help from GPS.

Something happened during the trip, where we had accidentally set the wrong destination( we set the wrong wat name. U know, there are too many wat-wat here with long name where we can't really remember). No wonder why it leads us to Bachok la, luckily we believed with our instinct and we got some help from the locals. Oh, forget to mention, the locals here are friendly,which is a different norm from our west coast.

Soon, reaching our first destination -- > Wat Machimaram at Tumpat. When you see the huge sitting buddha from the roadside, you will feel that are the hard works to find the location do worth.

Magnificent Sitting Buddha can be seen from the road side. Don't worry if you scare you can't look for the location, because the signboard of the temple is along the road when you reach Tumpat.

Wat Machimmaram contains a large statue of the Seating Buddha, that is 30 metres high and 18 metres wide. This Seating Buddha took 10 years to build by the skilled craftsmen from Thailand, and its was completed in 2000. Wat Machimmaram located in Kampung Jubakar, Tumpat and occupies over 2.4 hectares. The Thai group will conduct the religious celebration at the Wat such as Wesak Day, Kahtinna, Loy Krathong, Saibat, Songkran, and so forth. After that, we went to Free Trade Zone of Pengkalan Kubor. This FTZ is just located at Thai Border. To get there, we need to pass through a police checkpoint. Although it is a FTZ, I still find the items here mostly more or less same in our shopping complex. Kind of feel like being cheated. Can't even buy my lovely chocolates as they are not cheap. Mark you, you won't able to find any alcohol drinks here. Almost end up with disappointment but at last something there to cheer me up.

I called it rainbow ice cream because the ice cream is so coloured full, with only RM2 you can have a full cup of ice creams, with bread and glutinuous rice at bottom, topping with jellies, peanuts and corns. DOn't try to choose any flavour, the colourful of the ice cream is the trend mark.

After hanging in Pengkalan Kubor end up buying not much and under a huge hot sun, we moved to Wat Photivihan.

The temple houses a 40-metre statue of a sleeping Buddha, which is the longest of its kind inSouth East AsiaThe devotees of this temple are mainly ethnics Thais , and the temple itself is a typical Thai Buddhist temple.（Source: wiki).

Brief introduction to Tanah Merah Food

Ok, gonna make this very short article regarding the food at Tanah Merah, Kelantan.

There are Chinese food in the town, but honestly only some are a bit tasty.

1. Chengrai Restaurant

I assume this as Chinese mixed with Thai Style food. The food above from CHengrai Restaurant. The sotong we ordered was spicy + sour sotong. I considered it not bad becasue the sourness of the dish is appetising and the sotong were fresh. The upper right dish was curb ribs (南乳排骨）. Good recommendation from me. And the last one was salted fish fried with kai lan. Not a bad dish, but I can't really taste any salted fish there. Overall, the first meal over there was not a bad impression to me.

Ask the local chinese, they will able to guide you to the restaurant. Or you can try to look for the signboard of the Chengrai Restaurant beside the road. If you come from Tanah Merah town, the signboard should be at your right just a few kilometers away from town.

2. Roti Tempayan Belimbing

This was once my dinner. Roti tempayan and ayam tandoori. Trust me, nice dish. The roti tempayan is somehow like the roti canai we ate, but it is thicker than the roti canai. Whereas the ayam tandoori is abit similar taste with "Cha Xiew". Don't look down upon the onion, try it. The onion was marinated and you can feel sourness from the sauce and sweetness from the onion itself.

3. Satay Kajang in the town

You can imagine how excited we were when we discovered there is Satay Kajang in the town. Sorry but I have to say, there is actually nothing much in this small little town. You can feel it when You see I am excited over that there is even waffle selling in the town or seeing that there is gym in the town.

Tried it. I feel the taste of the satay is not bad. But I am not satisfied with the sauce they provided. I don't feel like there was any taste in the sauce. There are also other foods selling in this restaurant, somekind of mamak restaurant. The satay is not cheap, RM 0.80 per stick. But the drinks here is good. We had tried carrot milk and singa beng. Wonder what is singa beng? It is actually air limau kasturi. Just cost RM 2.00 and Rm 1.00 each. Cheap drinks right??

Search for the big signboard of "satay kajang" left side of the road from tanah Merah town area.

Road Trip to Kelantan

The moment that I thought for days had finally arrived. That's the moment I gonna leave my hometown for another stage of life. Not to count what I had scarified I am still reluctant to leave my lovely home, yet the decision had made. LIFE GOES ON.

Before I started my journey, some people had told me that the road to the EAST is quite tricky and steep. But now I would like to clarify that although it is not a road like North-South highway, the condition of the road to East is acceptable.

My journey is Ipoh-Kuala Kangsar-Gerik-Jeli-Tanah Merah. The picture above shows the journey from Kuala Kangsar to Gerik.

We stopped at Gerik Town for lunch. Please make sure you pump full petrol to your car if you wish to continue your journey to Kelantan. This is because there will be no petrol station after Gerik town for around 100+ km/ 1.5++ hours (depending on your speed). The nearest petrol station from Gerik will be in Jeli, Kelantan. BUt don't worry about rest house, there will still be some rest house along the journey in case you wish to rest or go for washrooms.

Actually after Gerik will be hill road. So beware. The scenery after Gerik. You will feel like you have entered into jungle or kampung area. Indeed, yes you are. Look for the "beware of Elephants" sign board. There will be elephants appearing and crossing the left and right of the jungle of the roads.

Ready to pass by Tasik Temenggung. The scenery here is quite beautiful. However, it was a raining day and I can't capture photos from my window.

From my rough calculation, the journey from Ipoh to Tanah Merah, Kelantan is actually consuming around 5+ hours excluding the rest time at Gerik. As I said, it still depending on your speed. We drove slowly along the journey as our car is small.

Vegetarian Spaghetti + ham roll

Decided to become the chef of the lunch out of a sudden. After a few hours of thinking, I decided to go for spaghetti, which I haven't consume it quite a long time.

Basically, this is what you need for spaghetti cooking.

Ingredients :
Spaghetti (quantity based on your consumption)
mushroom ( you can put the amount you like, as for me, I put in half can for 3 servings)
spaghetti sauce ( I prefer PREGO spaghetti traditional sauce, I like the sourness of the sauce very much XD)
1 Onion
1 green bell pepper
Ham

The "Agnesi" brand spaghetti is a brand that I tried first time. I bought it because .... *wink* ( it is with extra 33% of spaghetti compared the other brand with same price. Huh...I know I am quite aunty abit.)

Started my preparation work by cutting the onion which had caused tears ran out of my eyes for few minutes.

Vege Spaghetti Cooking Steps:

1. Boil a huge amount of water and add in a small amount of salt. Add in spaghetti to the boiled water and let them cooked for around 10 minutes.

2. Cut the onion and green pepper into cubes. Slice the mushroom as well.

3. Heat the saucepan with some olive oil. Fried the onion, green peppers and also mushroom for several minutes. You can smell the aroma of the vege now. :))

4. Add in PREGO spaghetti sauce. ( You gotta adjust the amount accordingly. As for my 3 servings, I put in at least half jar of the sauce.) (mine is the biggest size of the PREGO jar)

5. Flavour the sauce with salt/oregano and mix it with the vege. You can add in some cheese or milk into the sauce depends on your flavour.

6. Drain the cooked spaghetti and mix the spaghetti with the sauce before serving.

See, the spaghetti cooking is as easy as abc right? And it takes less time in preparation and cooking compare to other food and it suits lazy fello like me. (Instant mee is not count in)

At the same time, I had prepared an appetizer for my lunch. The dish is somehow inspired by some other famous dish. Somehow I only can prepare the appetizer with the ingredients available. I named them -- > ham roll. (ok, i know the name is sucks LOL)

Like the above idea?

It is just a simple and nice dish.
Ingredients:
2 pieces of ham (cut into 3 slices each)
2 french beans
carrot (slices into rectangular sizes )
6 slices mushrooms
mayonnaise
tomato sauce

Steps :
1. Divide the frenc beans into 3 pieces each.
2. Grill.fry the ham. Serve the hams on plate to let them cold. Then fry the french beans, carrots, and slice mushrooms for about 3 minutes. Add some salt and pepper to taste.
3. Lay some mayonnaise on the ham. Put a french bean, carrots and a sliced mushroom at the end of the ham. Then roll it up. Use toothpick to stable the roll.
4. Repeat step no.3 with the remaining. Served.

Start to have a clue regarding my topic? Da~~Dang~~~ let me introduce you this new cafe in Ipoh Town. The cafe opens throughout the day and feel free to drop by if you have no way to go on a weekend.

I have seen people sharing photos of dessert in the shop in facebook and this is how I get to know this cute and nice cafe. Honestly, they have drawn my attention with their food. So lovely ~~

Seeing the shop receiving good comments, I decided to pay a visit at B.E.D today. This is the front of the cafe, in case you don't know or easier for you guys to look for it. :P muahaha

Delicious chicken quiche. Taste better than I expect. You have to check with the counter regarding the food because they will change their desserts and food daily.

Homemade Chee Cheong Fun

I should have blogged about this days ago. ANyway, I just picked up my mood to update my blog. Sorry for the late update.

Holiday at home made me feel so enjoyable and thus, I had try so cooking-baking time at home.

One day I was craving with chee cheong fun and I found the recipe online. I discover that the steps are easy, erm...at least not as hard as i thought. So I decide to give it a try.

It makes me run quite a numbers of store/supermarket in order to get myself wheat starch/wheat flour.

Here comes the recipe : (from Jessie-CookingMoments)

160g Rice Flour 粘米粉
10g Corn Flour 粟粉
10g Wheat Starch/Flour) 澄面
660ml Water
10ml Oil
Pinch of Salt
40g Dried Shrimp, washed & pan-fried
Few Stalks of Spring Onions, chopped
1 tsp White Sesame Seeds, toasted.

However, I modified some. As I told you, I can't find the wheat starch. So I skipped the wheat starh, and add the amount of shrimp freestyle, and I replace long bean instead of spring onions.

Method:
1. Place flour, salt & water in a bowl & mix until a smooth batter is formed. Add oil & stir to combine. ~~Cover the bowl with cling wrap & rest for at least 30 minutes.~~ ( I have totally forgot this step when I was facinating in my own cooking world, wtf @@)
2. Bring the water in the wok/steamer to boil at high heat.
3. Cut the dry shrimps into pieces. Cut the long bean into cube size. Fried the dry shrimps and long bean for a few minutes.
4. Oil a baking dish. Stir the batter before pouring into the oiled dish to form a thin layer on the base of the dish, about 2mm-3mm. . Sprinkle with some dried shrimps and long beans.
TIP: Do not use too much of dried shrimp as it will make the rolling & cutting jobs harder. (great, I have forgotten this notice too. )
4. Steam the batter at medium-high heat for 6 minutes.
5. Oil the dough scrapper. Scrape up 1 side of the Chee Cheong Fun, use hand to roll up the CCF. Place on a clean, flat plate. Repeat until the rest of the batter is all used.

Here's come the outcome of my chee cheong fun. I know I know, they don''t look temting and not looking good either. But this is my first time making chee cheong fun leh. :P

I didn't cook any dipping sauce. What I did was just add in some soysauce and sesame oil, which the combination of these is a great yummy sauce to me.

八月花酒家 Moon Palace Restaurant Sdn Bhd

在一次机缘巧合之下，我有机会去尝试了八月花酒家。

八月花酒家是一间坐落于The Mines 绿水坊的中式餐厅。之前有听过关于八月花酒家的评语，都是一些负面的评语。所以我这次也没有抱着什么希望去吃。可恰好的是最近八月花酒家在做着优惠，龙虾一只RM48++。只可以在堂内食用，不可外带。而且每席只限两只。看到这个优惠，我们也决定尝试了。

龙虾，说它像螃蟹倒不是螃蟹，是虾类中最大的一类。

每只龙虾大约600gm-700gm.于是我们尝试了两种不同煮法的龙虾。

伊面配龙虾。吃下去还蛮不错的。

清蒸龙虾。这个蒸龙虾呢肉质鲜甜，有咬劲，配上一些枸杞，再加入些酒去蒸。说实在的，这道菜还蛮好吃，必佩伊面的味道和口感好。

龙趸属鲈形目，石斑鱼科，石斑鱼亚科，石斑鱼属。它体呈长椭圆形，侧扁，口较大，鱼头部、体侧及各鳍均散布着很多青黑色斑点，为大型名贵食用鱼类。

清蒸龙趸。之前在友人的喜宴上吃了龙趸，那次的尝试让我对龙趸却步。这次因为叫菜的人不是我，所以决定再给它一次机会。结果意外的原来味道还不错。而且也不会像上次的硬。整体还不错。

番茄炒蛋。个人觉得还不错，但没有炒得太老。味道适中，适合在场的小朋友下菜。

我们还点了一个豆腐和青菜。基于是上菜的时候大家已经开动了，所以也没有拍到什么照片。

八月花酒家在做着优惠，所以凡消费超过RM50斗会获赠烧卤鸡。

最后来个饭后甜品-煎锅饼。口感是不错，我略嫌它油腻了点。

饭后水果，有益健康。所以我们也点了一道水果，解腻解腻。

这么多的菜那么少的人，吃得我肚子胀胀的，什么减肥计划都抛诸脑后了。这次的菜肴都煮得很不错，所以决定为它来个平反。得空想尝试的朋友不妨去试试他们的食物。而且据了解八月花酒家好像是蛮常有推出优惠哦。

十八丁海鲜记 Kuala Sepetang Seafood Trip

十八丁是在太平外围的靠海地带,正式的名称是瓜拉十八丁。相信大家对port weld这词不会感到陌生吧。Port Weld正是十八丁的前名噢。车十八丁拥有全马最早建的火车站。它不只拥有丰富的历史背景，也孕育着海鲜海产类，同时也保留了西马最大范围的红树林。除了拥有红树林，它还有萤火虫，传统炭窟及捕鱼业。作为一个渔港，十八丁怎么可能会少了让人垂涎三尺的海鲜餐呢？

渔村少不了的活动--〉晒咸鱼

这是另一家海鲜餐馆。真汗颜，我竟然忘了拍下海上海鲜餐馆的照片。

十八丁海上海鲜餐馆，位于鱼行渡头楼上，置身于海上，身子随着涛涛海浪摇摆晃动，那儿空气很清新，再加上对面是全西马最大的红树林，是名副其实的”无敌海景”。十八丁海上海鲜餐馆位于一家小型加油站对面。特别的是海上海鲜餐馆是在楼上，而楼下则是鱼虾批发商。若你有兴趣，可以在享用海鲜餐后下去逛一逛。

其实实兆远的海鲜通常才是我的首选。之所以会来到十八丁吃海鲜是因为亲戚极力推荐。据说，十八丁的海鲜好吃又新鲜，而且价钱公道。也因为这样，我们一行人兴致勃勃地跑来十八丁尝试了。因为不熟悉这里的地形，因此我们走了很多冤枉路，最后才让我们找到这间十八丁海上海鲜餐馆。

顾客可以坐在餐馆里欣赏渔港的景色，如果来队的时间，可以看到渔夫捕鱼归来的时候呢。

一上楼第一眼就是看到有很多海鲜像摆摊子那样摆出来让顾客自己选。接下来就走出去餐馆，才发现人潮可不少哦。还好还有一张空桌。可惜，桌子不是在阑珊旁，不能有边看海景边吃海鲜的享受。

新鲜的食材任你选，要怎么烹煮任你说。

先来一碟水煮八爪鱼，撒上一些花生碎，再配合特制的酱料。吃起来有另一番风味哦。八爪鱼很新鲜，吃起来超Q的。但是我觉得这里的酱料输给高源的，花生碎也不够多。

姜葱炒啦啦。

炸小螃蟹。超香脆的，也很好吃。可以当成零食的小菜。

潮洲式蒸鱼。我忘了这是什么鱼，应该是白漕鱼。鱼是挺新鲜的，煮法好吃。可是我却不认为那是正式的潮洲蒸。没有该有的酸味和豆腐。就像普通蒸鱼的方法一般。

马来风光，因为有用虾米去炒，所以更好吃。

酸甜酱炒螃蟹。炸得酥酥脆脆的小馒头配上螃蟹的酸甜酱，那滋味可是非常的好吃。

一行十人余，吃了那么多的海鲜，才用了RM160++。是不是超便宜超值得呢？

Kuala Kurau

I had an intention to visit to Kuala Kurau all of a sudden. So I made up my mind to pay a visit to this town last Friday.

Kuala Kurau is nearby Parit Buntar and Tanjung Piadang. Both these places are located under Kerian Distinct, which is north part of Perak. It is a very serene and beautiful place, which is by the side of sea. This is one f the fishing village in Malaysia. You can see the beautiful sea when you enter into the town.

You can see the fishing boats and sea in the town area.

I feel that this is quite interesting part of the shoplots where there is a huge river in front of the shops and we need to walk through this bridges in order to go to the shops.

This is a flyover that connect Kuala Kurau town with 对面港。(I don't know the place in English)

Before the construction of the flyover, villagers from the 对面港 connect with Kuala Kurau using Ferry service. However, Kuala Kurau ferry service has stopped since year 2007. The flyover is built at the very end side of both 对面港 and Kuala Kurau town.

Okie...I found the temples in Kuala Kurau are in small size but cute. Renovated to make the temple looks good with tiles and new paint. Honestly, I like this supercute structure and design.

I was trying to look for some local food during my visit to Kuala Kurau. However, it was a Chinese Ghost Festival, and the Chinese were busy with the virtual or ceremony. Many shops were actually closed on that day. But luckily, I done some research regarding the local food there before I started my journey. So I finnaly found this crispy and yummy "Heah-ah-chi" at 对面港. You gotta ask for the locals regarding this stall that sold this food because without their guidelines, you will never able to find it. Trust me. I only able to look for it after a few attempts and guidance from a few villagers.

Tambun Tibetan Temple

I have come across Motormouth's blog and I find this, Tambun Tibetan Temple. My god, please forgive me for not knowing there is such an amazing place in Ipoh although I am Ipohian.

I decided to pay it a visit during last Raya Break to look for this nice and beautiful temple. Before showing you some pictures of it, I would like to brief you information of this temple. :)

Tambun Tibetian Temple is known as Jingang Jing She by the Tambun locals and devotees. There is an Amithaba Buddha statue which stands 24 meters tall on top of the temple. It is the tallest Amithaba Buddha statue.

Stopped the car half way to the temple when I saw it across the lake side. It impressed me here.


Continued my journey to the Temple. Don't be surprised, you will need to pass through this small path in order to go to the temple.


Da~dang~~~ Once again I slowed down the car to take the photo when I saw it!!!

You can see the symbolic of the Tibetian Buddism Prayer Wheel in the temple.

Pass along the walk path where there are numbers of "Prayer Wheels" (转经筒） are set up. I was actually blur about the prayer wheels that built there although there is explaination regarding the wheel. I was then realized that we need to turn the prayer wheels when we walked along.

After I went home, I wanted so much to search more information of this prayer wheels. I would like to share it here so that YOU won't make the same mistakes as I do when you see prayer wheels in future.

According to Baidu, there are sutra inside the prayer wheels. It is believed that when we turn one time of the prayer wheels is equal we have finished chanting sutra for one time. 就是会有这么一种人,明明他已经年老,但你还是忍不住会有想k他的冲动。

就是这么一种人,以老迈老,自以为很了不起。讲话做事都要认第一,什么都觉得自己很厉害,因为他比较老,有经验,懂的东西比你多。就是那种所谓吃盐多过你吃米的人。

就是有这样的人,就是仗着自己比较老比较有经验,使唤人不用本。

深呼吸,我,就是遇到这样的人。真的真的,很想打他。

对不起,我其实很尊重别人尤其老人,但这个,我真的吃不消。

你用你的方式对别人好,别人不一定领情。就算是最亲近的人也是也会说你的不是,曲解你的本意。

为什么要这样活在他人的道理和生活中呢?很多时候,真的是闲事莫理。歪管他人,把自己的伤害减低。

不要为这些事沮丧了。没有人珍惜你,在乎你。你就好好爱自己。不要再委曲求全,伤害自己了。

So,又是他出国旅行的时候了。

Cham liao Cham liao,我的病又开始发作了。
不懂为什么，每次他去旅行我就是会这样，想他想他超级想念他，心酸酸的。

哈哈，是不是我妒忌他去旅行？

社会让我缺乏安全感

我不得不讲，现今这个社会让人民缺乏很多很多的安全感。
翻开报纸，扭开电视，我们每天甚至每小时都可以看到抢劫案，杀人案，总之就是一萝萝的社会治安问题，层出不穷。罪案指标是高是低，大家心里有数。

走在街道上心里就会不安，怕一个倒霉会被抢劫，被强拐。但是，如果只是单纯的抢劫，大不了把钱财给他，毕竟性命还是最重要。可是现在的匪徒似乎不懂什么是人命可贵，不管三七二十一，抢钱之余，还会拿你的命。现在这个社会似乎好像不能讲要你小心皆可以了。匪徒不但敢在白天干案，就算是在人潮里也敢下手。

犹记得之前发生槟城女画家案件，没有人伸出援手，不是全部人都冷血。而是在现今这个社会，人人自危。深怕那是一宗假受伤真抢劫的案。有事不禁会想，是不是科技的发达，对名利的认知不同导致大家都全变得冷血？不过设身的想，是有太多太多的因素，让我们不得不冷血。也许是在为自己找借口。但是想救人，又要担心自身的安全，真的是现在的窘境。瞧，遇上车祸想帮忙救出伤者，却被打劫的新闻一直都有。一股真诚换来如此的下场，还有谁真的敢再伸出援手？

每天看报章都会看到政治人物互相批评，为何不把这些时间腾出来，真正地为人民想出方案，减少罪案的发生？也许去哪里都有保镖围着的他们不了解，出门就害怕被匪徒盯上的滋味。

说真的，我还挺怕呢。

poor lappie

So, this happened when i tried to switch on my lappie. The first night after waiting for an hour, i decide to reformat it. And successfully installed correct sound driver.

The problem occurred again yesterday. In fury, i reformat it again. But this time i cant find any correct sound driver for it.

Any idea???

What i ask is my lappie can function perfectly for few more years. This request is not much right?
