Samsung Beats Nokia and could emerge as a new market leader

2012-04-12T07:58:00.000-07:00

Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. ended Nokia Oyj's 14-year leadership of the global cellphone market in the first quarter of the year, outselling the struggling Finnish handset maker for the first time ever, according to a Reuters poll of analysts.

The poll showed analysts on average expect Samsung to have sold 88 million cellphones in January through March, surpassing the 83 million which Nokia sold in the quarter.
Nokia had announced the sales total on Wednesday when it warned of losses from the phones business in the first and second quarter. Samsung is due to release quarterly numbers on April 27.

Nokia has struggled for several years in the smartphone race, but its dominance in the lower end of the market has allowed it to keep its rank as the world's largest cellphone maker by volume.

The fall of the Finnish firm has been rapid over the last few months as in a similar poll in January it was still expected to stay far ahead of Samsung.

"After 14 years as the largest global mobile phone maker, getting knocked off the top spot will come as a bitter blow to Nokia," said Ben Wood, head of research at CCS Insight, who has followed the industry since the 1990s.

"In contrast it will be greeted with euphoria by Samsung - they'll be dancing from the boardroom to the factory floor," Wood said.

Nokia became the world's largest cellphone maker 1998 when it overtook Motorola - at a time when Samsung had just entered the industry - and it controlled around 40 percent of the market for years before Apple Inc's iPhone was unveiled in 2007, launching the smartphone boom.

Some analysts said losing the top spot would be a blow to Nokia, but would have little impact on its attempt to turn around its fortunes.

"I think it will hurt them from a PR perspective, but in reality it does not change anything: at the end of the day the problems are the same if they remain the No 1 or become the No 2," said analyst Carolina Milanesi at Gartner.

"Bombing Bahria" "The funnier side"

2012-04-12T05:34:00.000-07:00

Bahria university Karachi — Wednesday morning was different for bahrian because he/she had experienced somewhat the situation which he/she shouldn't have wanted to or may be a some form of entertainment for some bahrians as i recieved a text-sms from one of my bahrian-mate which i'd like to share here.

"What are the similarities among Veena malick,Meera and Bahria University??"

-All 3 depict themselves as bomb or bomb savior!
-All 3 pretend as super awesome!
-All 3 know how to be in controversial news!

Well this was the funnier side of this incident, Let's talk in some serious manner.

Dozens of bomb threats reported at the University of Bahria(Karachi) on wednesday, have made BU to postpone the paper and forced security officials to put in building access measures and all the scheduled-papers shifted to next day at same time.

Some students "are definitely afraid," said Usman, a junior who had one of his mid-term exams changed to a take-home because of the disruptions.

Another day to wait for entertainment! Mann i am going for suicide(Students who were expecting some fun aftermath of exams).

Another student :"But I think just shutting down the university would be a right decision," he said, adding that's probably what the person making the threats wants.

"Chutti yar! Let's go for sheesha! "

The threats started to begin last year when numerous of attacks on navy took place.

Student Aliya, who's studying for a master's degree in library science, said it wasn't until a few minutes ago that the bomb threats started to affect her in terms of "my feelings of security."

"So now it's pretty alarming," she said. "We've never had an experience like this. I kind of have that feeling like, where's this going to end?"

Another student was surprised Wednesday to find all but one door to the main library locked and everyone's bags being searched.

Under new security measures, students and faculty members will need school IDs to get into buildings. Non-residents won't be permitted in dormitories.

Ajmal Kasab's food, security and medical cost Indian government 25 crore Rupees

2012-04-12T00:52:00.002-07:00

Mumbai(Source NDTV): The Indian Government has spent over Rs. 25 crores to keep 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab alive since he was captured in 2008. Speaking in the Maharashtra Assembly on Wednesday, state Home Minister RR Patil gave details of expenses for the sole surviving Pakistani terrorist.

Even as Kasab's trial continues in the Supreme Court, the cost of keeping him alive is a huge burden on the state exchequer. While the Government has spent Rs. 5,25,00,000 on his high security cell at Mumbai's Arthur Road jail, his security entrusted to the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has cost the state over Rs. 19 crores.

Mr Patil also said that the state has once again asked the Centre to waive the charges, since terrorism is not a state subject alone.

On the other hand, the cost of salaries of the policemen who protect Kasab cost the state Rs. 1,22,18,406. While his medical expenses cost Rs. 28,066, the state has paid another Rs. 34,975 for his food.

Ajmal Kasab was the only Pakistani terrorist caught alive during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 and ironically, the city which bore the brunt of his brutality is paying to keep him safe.

India launches 4G services as Pakistan is still dreaming for "3G"

2012-04-10T00:44:00.000-07:00

Pakistani consumers are still waiting for "dream-3G" as India is moving beyond by launching one step ahead 4th generation "4G"(If 3G was jet plane then 4G would be F-17).

Telecom major Bharti Airtel Tuesday launched broadband wireless access (BWA) services based on 4G technology here.

With this launch, the firm became the first player to launch the 4G service in India.

The high speed service was inaugurated here by union Communications Minister Kapil Sibal.

A successor to the 3G and 2G families, 4G is expected to be five times quicker than 3G services. It would offer services such as high-definition mobile TV and video conferencing.

Airtel , which had bagged BWA spectrum in four telecom circles -- Kolkata, Maharastra, Punjab and Karnataka -- for Rs.3,314.36 crore in 2010, selected Chinese telecom equipment maker ZTE to manage its services in Kolkata.

The other players are yet to announce plans to rollout 4G services.

As far as concern about Pakistan we still have no news regarding 3G. Recently we've heard about auctions for 3G but as expected all these stuffs proved to be a "Grandmother tale".

Espnstar wins cricket broadcast rights in India whopping $757.6 million

2012-04-02T05:56:00.000-07:00

(Reuters) - Rupert Murdoch's Star TV has won the bid to broadcast Indian cricket for six years for a fee of around $757.6 million, officials said on Monday.

The rights, which include television, internet and mobile broadcasting, will be for July 2012 to March 2018 and cover all home international matches and domestic tournaments but not the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Star TV will pay about 400 million rupees (about $7.9 million) on average for each match, compared with the 322.5 million rupees (about $6.3 million) paid by previous rights holders Nimbus.

"This is a substantial improvement and the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is very happy the media rights have been fully evaluated and now I think fully priced," BCCI president N. Srinivasan told reporters in Chennai.

"Bids were submitted by Star and Multi Screen Media (MSM) and after following a transparent process of verifying the eligibility of each bidder, bids were opened in front of both the parties and the winner chosen."

The BCCI terminated its deal with Nimbus in December, three years before it was due to expire, over payment defaults.

MSM has the broadcast rights for the annual Twenty20 IPL.

"Star India will work collaboratively with ESPN-Star Sports to exploit the rights," said Star India chief executive Uday Shankar.

"Right now we have three sports channels - Star Sports, ESPN and Star Cricket - to broadcast the cricket on. However if required we could explore the launch of new channels."

ESPN-STAR Sports is a joint venture between Walt Disney and media mogul Murdoch's News Corporation and owns the rights to International Cricket Council tournaments.

Social media sites possess 58% women

2012-04-02T05:36:00.000-07:00

Social media sites seem to be too feminine.

A new study has found that women make up 58 per cent of all users logging on to popular networking websites like Facebook and Twitter.

Researchers at the Pew Research Center found that the number of people joining social networking sites have doubled from 2008 to 2010 to 850 million, but the number of male users plummeted three per cent during that time period. This has prompted social networks to figure out a way to to lure more men to update their happenings and post pictures online, the 'Daily Mail' reported.

Keith Hampton, the lead author, said that he believed that men were inherently less likely to use social media as a form of expression. So a specific type of website, whether geared toward men or just a general audience, wouldn't make much of a difference in motivating men to interact online.

"Women historically are the the networkers in relationships," he was quoted as saying by the 'Christian Science Monitor'. Hampton said it will take a lot more than designing a male-friendly site to keep men coming back and interacting. He said: "Larger social forces that have nothing to do with the site's interface explain better why men are less engaged on social media."

Anti-Islam protest in Denmark leads to 80 extremist Arrest!

2012-04-01T00:17:00.002-07:00

AARHUS, Denmark (AP) — On saturday when some extremist of denmark were protesting against Islam, More than 80 extremist were arrested Saturday as protesters hurling rocks and bottles tried to interrupt an anti-Islamic demonstration by far-right groups from across northern Europe, Danish police said.

There were numerous brief scuffles throughout the day as police tried to separate some 2,500 counter-demonstrators from a few hundred people attending the anti-Islamic rally in Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city. One police officer received minor injuries after being hit by a bottle, police spokesman Georg Husted said.

Police said about 200 to 300 people from Denmark, Britain, Germany, Sweden and Poland took part in what was billed as a "European counter-jihad meeting" to protest what they called the Islamization of Europe. They were met by a 10-times larger counter-demonstration by left-wing groups under the banner "Aarhus for Diversity."

The anti-Islamic rally started with a moment of silence for the seven people killed by an al-Qaida-inspired gunman in France.

Among the speakers was Tommy Robinson, the head of the English Defense League, a far-right group that has staged rowdy protests in Britain, and has inspired smaller offshoots in a number of European countries.

Both demonstrations were peaceful until a group of black-clad, mask-wearing youth from the counter-demonstration tried to break through police lines, but officers in riot gear held them back.

After the rally finished, protesters hurled rocks and bottles at a bus carrying the far-right sympathizers as police vans escorted it out of the city center.

The defense leagues and other counter-jihadist groups that have sprung up in Europe in recent years distance themselves from neo-Nazis and say they don't accept racism or anti-Semitism. Opponents say they are just a new manifestation of xenophobia in Europe, targeting Muslims instead of Jews.

Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian gunman who confessed to slaughtering 77 people last July, cited the English Defense League and other counter-jihadist groups in the anti-Muslim manifesto he released before the killing spree. Those groups have condemned his actions and dismissed him as a lunatic.

Mari Linolkken traveled from Norway to join the counter-demonstration in Aarhus, 200 kilometers (125 miles) northwest of Copenhagen, saying she felt compelled to stand up against the far-right movement after what her own country had gone through with Breivik's attacks.

"The English Defense League, Danish Defense League, the Stop Islamization of Europe — we have experienced what their ideology means in practice," she said.

Facebook to introduce it's own search engine

2012-03-30T12:25:00.000-07:00

Facebook is now all set to jump in the search engine business. The first hint of this new company direction was found in the mysterious photograph posted by Mark Zuckerberg on his Facebook wall, post the IPO filing by the company.

Facebook has long stayed away from traditional search and the existing Facebook search is mainly used to find other users, pages on the site and to show web results powered by Microsoft's Bing. All this is rumoured to be changing in an upcoming update by the company, as a team led by former Google engineer Lars Rasmussen is working on an improved search engine, reported Bloomberg

This Image showed his desk and a MacBook Air. The laptop display had a blurry image of a Facebook page and, at the top, what seemed to be an unusually large box; leading to speculations by tech press that it was the prototype search engine from the company.

This upcoming search engine won't be directly competing with Google in algorithmic supremacy but will use Facebook's social data to sift through web content and give relevant results. Given the criticism to Google's recent attempt to integrate social into search, it would be interesting to see Facebook's socially inclined search engine. Experts believe that Facebook might have more success given its natural strengths in adding social to web elements like the popular "like button".

Another interesting part to this whole saga is the involvement of former Google engineer Lars Rasmussen, who was previously a part of Google Wave and Maps teams.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Match Fixed?? (Asia Cup 2012 is the price that Pakistan have to pay to bring International cricket back to the country?????)

2012-03-22T03:10:00.001-07:00

According to some unconfirmed sources(Speculations), The grand finale of Asia cup 2012 between Pakistan vs bangladesh has already been fixed as Pakistan cricket board is desperate to bring international cricket back to Pakistan and for the sake of this task, Pakistan will have to sacrifice the title of Asia cup 2012.

The plan has been set as Pakistan will bat first at whatsoever situation, one or two players(Still don't know about the identity of those players) will play very slow as according to plan and run-rate would be maintained around 4 with Bangladesh is expected to get a target during their chase.

This act won't help Pakistan because the title of Asian champion has much more value, Your performance would automatically enforce others and make others to think different about you as loosing deliberately is totally dishonesty to Pakistani nation and it would be a disaster for Pakistan cricket.

I will feel rather happy if my blog proved to be wrong! Let's hope that Pakistan cricket team would do better as millions of hearts are praying for them.

Saif Ali Khan's Agent Vinod banned in Pakistan

2012-03-20T04:24:00.002-07:00

Rehan Shahzada Blogs learns about a post by Atrium cinemas in Karachi, that states the Pakistan censor board has banned Saif Ali Khan's upcoming release Agent Vinod in the country.

Talking about the reasons for the ban, it has been learnt that Agent Vinod has few Pakistani link ups. Saif had earlier revealed the film's Pakistani connection by stating that his character Agent Vinodwill be travelling to Pakistan to solve a mystery.

Interestingly Saif's girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, who is also a part of the film, will be playing a spy for the Pakistani government. This ban might disappoint many Pakistanis who were eagerly looking forward toAgent Vinod's release on March 23.

There is no need to worry! I am talking to Pakistani fans because same thing happend with "The dirty Picture" which was later cleared by Pakistani censor board so wait for another miracle.

Salman Butt Pressurized me to bowl No-balls: Mohammad Amir(Former Pakistan bowler speaks out over spot-fixing scandal) (Complete interview of Mohammad Amir)

2012-03-20T00:05:00.000-07:00

Amir claims that he was tricked into bowling two no-balls at Lord's after being told he was the subject of an International Cricket Council investigation.

Here is a complete Interview of Mohammad Amir after spot-fixing exclusively to Sky Sports!

Amir originally maintained his innocence before deciding to plead guilty, and has said that he was asked to bowl the no-balls by Mazhar Majeed, who was also imprisoned for his part in the conspiracy, on the eve of the Lord's Test.

And Amir claims that Majeed used a fictional ICC investigation, supposedly launched after phone calls between Amir and a businessman known as 'Ali', to dupe him into taking part in spot-fixing activities.

Amir said: "He (Majeed) said that he told him (a friend of Majeed who told him of the supposed investigation), 'bro, put an end to this case, shut this file. Whatever you need me to do, I'll do it. Whatever needs to be done, I'll do it. I'll do anything. But Amir's name should not be mentioned.

'Favour'

"I said, 'and then.' That's when he said, 'can you do me a favour?' I asked him, 'what favour?' he replied, 'do two no-balls for me.' I said, 'what?'

"And there's something crucial that I'd like to say at this point. I'd like to say how stupid I was.

"I mean on the one hand he was telling me that a report about me had gone to the ICC, and on the other hand he wanted me to do two no-balls for him."

He added: "I was panicking so much it didn't even occur to me how ridiculous it was."

Amir also said that Butt and Majeed took advantage of his earlier involvement with 'Ali', who claimed to be a friend of Butt's and had introduced himself to the young bowler in Dubai.

"He (Ali) said that he was often in Pakistan, and that I should give him my Pakistan number so that he could contact me when he was there," Amir said.

"I gave him my contact details because he was Salman's friend. I thought it would be fine to do so."

"Battle of Asian Giants" Back to Pakistan vs India

2012-03-09T23:30:00.001-08:00

India and Pakistan renew their cricket rivalry after almost a year's break when they take part in the Asia Cup one-day tournament starting in Dhaka on SundayThe Official Promo of Asia Cup 2012 is here:

Buoyant Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh, the other two teams in the fray to determine one-day supremacy on the continent, play the opening match at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka.

But the focus is already on the March 18 tie, the first between the arch-rivals since the high-profile World Cup semi-final at Mohali last March, which India won on their way to clinching the showpiece title.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, whose team were blanked 4-0 by England recently, said the match against India would be a highlight.

"Against India it is something special because of the supporters of Pakistan and India," he said.

"Everyone wants to enjoy India-Pakistan rivalry and that adds to the pressure. But we want to play good cricket and improve our own performance. It's going to be a tough tournament."

India severed cricket links with its neighbour after the deadly 2008 Mumbai attacks, which New Delhi blamed on militants based across the border in Pakistan.

The Asia Cup will be the first assignment for new Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore, the former Australian international who guided Sri Lanka to World Cup glory in 1996.

The tournament provides Indian batting superstar Sachin Tendulkar with yet another opportunity to record an unprecedented 100th international century.

The world record-holder has gone a year without a three-figure knock since scoring his 99th ton in a World Cup match against South Africa in Nagpur last March.

India hope to make amends after their disastrous tours of England and Australia, where they lost both the Test and one-day series.

India, who won the last Asia Cup title in Sri Lanka in 2010, have rested hard-hitting opener Virender Sehwag and key paceman Zaheer Khan, but will feel at home on the low, slow pitches in Dhaka.

Sri Lanka, who finished runners-up to India in the World Cup, have produced encouraging results after reappointing Mahela Jayawardene as captain and South African Graham Ford as coach.

They not only knocked India out of the recent tri-series in Australia, but also gave the hosts a close run before losing the best-of-three final 2-1.

Bangladesh are boosted by the return of opener Tamim Iqbal, who was initially dropped by the country's cricket chief before being added as a 15th member of the squad on Thursday.

Each side will play the other once in the round-robin league, with the top two advancing to the final on March 22.

Let's hope Inshallah! This time Pakistan will emerge as a victorious and called to be "Asian Champion" at the conclusion. Ameen!

"Nadia and Maya" Both khan's are all set to come back!!

2012-03-08T11:58:00.000-08:00

Every thing seems to be possible in this modern era, morning shows are now acting like Indian-soap dramas and Paki-politics where you don't know that what is going to happen next? You need to prepare yourself for the next stage where a character who was died in any sort of "Fazool" accident in his past, Suddenly appears like a ray of a morning sun with more powerful character or the politicians who have been humiliating each other suddenly become a friend of each other.

Recently, Confirmed by our sources that Geo is applying a new strategy for a morning show attraction by getting Shaan to co-host along with Nadia Khan, who had done morning shows for the television before. According to inside-sources, Shan will be paid a salary of Rs.6 million a month for it according to an official person working at the channel. The morning show is scheduled to begin soon.
This show would replace Shaista's morning show , which is now not as popular as it has been in the past. She herself was the replacement of Nadia Khan.History repeats itself!! The reason for bringing Shaan on the project was to maintain viewership and to do something different.

The news came to media almost a week back,GEO TV(Official Facebook page), shared the page of “Nadia Khan Show”. This update made us to think and when we asked our
sources regarding it, it was confirmed by them.

On the other hand,Maya Khan who was humiliated in a controversy after an episode of her morning show “Subah Sawerey Maya Kay Sath”. Now she is back on Ary again. She was seen in Express News show “Frontline with Kamran Shahid” where she said that no one heard her point of view and she has done nothing wrong.

Maya Khan also revealed that whole episode which sparked controversy was planned and the couples which were seen in the footage was paid actors. The question is that if Maya Khan has solid evidence then why she is not going to courts and why is not suing Samaa TV management.

Check out the new drama queen "Maya khan" come-back Interview!

Some of the Pakistani websites claim that the show of Kamran Shahid was pre planned and now Maya Khan is planning to become a part of Express TV and may be in coming days she will also host a morning show on Express entertainment but all speculation led to none and she has finally joined Ary.

All these activities suggest that media channels have no moral ethic values, they do what they want, they haven’t set any laws for them and to be very honest they won’t;( Pemra should interfere on this matter because both “Khanz” have had a past to get-them involved in individual’s personal matters. All we need a good, positive and “free of dramas” morning shows because these “fired bullets” would only hurt Pakistani media image in international world.

“Lip-dubbing”(Lipdub) “Let’s make it bahrians”

2012-03-06T05:42:00.000-08:00

Few days back, I was in my BBA class listening a very famous song “The black eyed peas I gotta feeling” with lips were following the song just like “lip-dubbing”.My class—mate came to me and asked “What are you doing mann?”. (I don’t know may be he was blind). Can’t u see? “Lipdub”. He anxiously watched me for couple of seconds and then asked me a question after scratching his head!!! What is Lipdub? I was surprised to know that he was 100% empty as far as concern about the history of this term and later I explained him that what actually the lipdub is?

Maybe some of you are not aware of this term “Lipdub” which is going to happen for the first time in the history of Bahria University Karachi. May be some of you thinking about Lipdub, some event sponsored by “lipton”. Actually it is not! “Aao bahrians tum ko sunaey Lipdub ki Mazaidar kahani! Aik tha raja or Aik thi rani”. Well lipdub has nothing to do with this “Farigh” statement. Let us back to our track.

A lip dub is a type of video that combines lip synching and audio dubbing to make a music video. It is made by filming individuals or a group of people lip synching while listening to a song or any recorded audio then dubbing over it in post editing with the original audio of the song. There is often some form of mobile audio device used such as an MP3 player. Often they look like simple music videos, although many involve a lot of preparation and production. Lip dubs can be done in a single unedited shot that often travels through different rooms and situations within a building. They have become popular with the advent of mass participatory video content sites like YouTube.

“Kingwood High School's Audio Video Production class produced Taio Cruz's Dynamite Lip Dub. Over 300 students and administrators participated in the making of the video”.

I really liked this Lip dub. This school chose a really dynamic song to go with it, and it really works in this Lipdub. As soon as the video starts, you’re in it. Maybe a bit too much from the very beginning, an introduction might have been nice. In each scene, there are lots of people but everything seems to have been well prepared and organized. They all seem to know what they have to do and it’s no mess, which can happen in some Lip dubs with many participants. They wear costumes or types of clothing which gives this Lipdub a nice theme.

Jake Lodwick, the co-founder of Vimeo, coined the term "lip dubbing" on December 14, 2006, in a video entitled Lip Dubbing: Endless Dream. I won’t go with the history of lipdub too long because I don’t want to mess-up with the description of the topic which is relevant to entertainment.

Recently CBM organised a successful lipdub video which is by-far a great achievement for Paki-university, with having more than 70,000+ hits on youtube so far, I think they did a tremendous Job. On October 21st 2011, seven hundred students came all decked out to pledge allegiance to the first university LipDub in Pakistan. Get ready to explore a wicked, crazy and rocking side of Pakistan. A Bahrian like you today has to prove his/her worth and needs to light it up like a dynamite.. cause baby you’re a firework!

A LipDub generally attempts to bring together students to interact with peers they likely never would have met, promote Bahria University globally, while strengthening the bond with our corporate community locally and act like a video diary or a time capsule for all Bahria University students to carry back with them after they graduate from this university. All these events are leading bahria to a skier with the minds of BBA-8C behind all this plan, New talent is coming-up with Bahria University bagged the highest number of awards in IBA youth festival, We can say that bahria is changing, progressing and moving.

The most awaited event of the season "lipdub" is ready to serve. All the registration are being taken place from 12th of March.

So you all bahrians! Are you ready for change? Are you ready to make this video memorable? Let’s go for it!!

Top 10 Fashion trends in Pakistan

2012-02-23T23:24:00.001-08:00

1.Sarees: There was a time when India was the only market for Sarees but now Paki-ladies are attractive towards this form of dressing. Sarees primarily used to denote synthetic sarees with zardosi or sequins, this is the most ill used term in the history of apparel and fashion. Designer sarees are custom made and can be shaped, pre stitched, glitzy or very demure. A far cry from hand embroidered or brocade sarees, these have become a must have in most Pakistani’s woman’s wardrobe.

2.Kurta/Kurti: The creation of kurtas and kurtis to be worn with jeans, churidars or leggings got rid of the dupatta and brought in this concept of Fusion in Pakistani fashion. Salwar kameez still has Pakistani women’s Preference.

3.Revolution in Men’s fashion: Ten years ago Pakistani men didn’t have a whole lot of variety in clothes. Availability of new age lycra blends like PNS (poly-nylon-spandex) and CPNS (Cotton-poly-nylon-spandex) have taken Men’s shirting to quite to another level in this decade. Male grooming is on the rise and the Men’s fashion scene in Pakistan is expanding with a lot of multi-national companies are investing their money in Men’s fashion accessories.

4.Hair colouring: Yes we did dye our hair black before and we did apply Henna to make it brown and luscious but this millennium saw emergence of artificial hair coloring in wondrous shades of red, brown and blonde promising shiny hair and grey coverage.

5.Age reversing creams: Wanting to look young forever is a something natural to wish for Pakistani men and women . Age reversal creams have finally arrived proposing flawless skin and minimal signs of aging for up to 10 years if used continuously from the age of 30.

6.Platinum jewelry: Initially deterred by its high cost, Pakistani’s have now encompassed the highly potent, radiant and flexible metal in this decade to create jewelry that will last for generations.

7.Social Networking(Facebook and Twitter): Facebook and twitter has now been called as a status symbol for Pakistani Peoples. If u don’t have an account specially on facebook, you are called to be “Dehati” or “Pind say aaya hai”. According to Facebook, Pakistani users exceed the mark of 5.5 million which indicates how much time they are spending on Socail networking Arena.

8.Low waist jeans: Yes there were jeans before but this decade saw the rise of hipster, skinny, body hugging and yes the low waist – low rise jeans. The undy band showing out of the jeans became a statement symbolic of the ‘no cares- no worry’ sentiment of this generation.

9.Craft from home: Pakistani women entrepreneurs now run home based craft businesses learning, making and selling their handmade craft online big time. Etsy, eBay and craft communities and business forums stand testimony to this. From selling shalwar kameez, handicrafts and kundan jewelry they have now moved on to crafts that were very foreign in the last decade.

10.Technology as style statement: undeniably technology is the biggest trend of this decade. But I am not talking of super functionality of snazzy gadgets alone; I am talking about the style quotient they lend to any ensemble. From slim gadgets to laptops and cell phones with interchangeable (printed) cover panels, from bluetooth to wireless walkmans technology is the most favored accessory of the decade

“Arrival Of T20’s” Fresh start for Pakistan

2012-02-23T03:08:00.000-08:00

Pakistan can be the No.1 team, the most dangerous team, hard to beat in subcontinent, whitewash is certain. These all are the statements which we were listening after the conclusion of test matches between Pakistan and England but all blew up like balloon in the Air as Pakistan humiliated in shorter format of the game and England have “Green-washed Pakistan” in four ODI encounters.

Obviously such results wasn't expected but there is no need to press a panic button because as we all know that this is the first series defeat in two years and first defeat for misbah under his belt since he has overtaken after Afridi was sacked as a captain.

In most cases Pakistani media and crowd often react so abusive whenever Pakistan looses, X-players come-out of quick and fast changes, media started questions on captaincy and bla bla bla!!!!!!!
Well in this current ODI series,We have to accept one thing that Pakistan looked completely out of Color,Out of touch, inclusion of out of form players(rather called undeserving players),Inconsistent final XI.We can easily determine that how unsure Pakistan has been throughout the series that they had three different XI’s in three ODI’s completely perpendicular to England who Insisted and consistent on Same XI’s in Trio ODI’s.

Now, Question of the week, What These “Gooras” did after their horrible test series, One thing we all know that they didn’t do anything unorthodox then what magic they got? The answer of this question is very simple! They just recruit new young blood, shuffling of Batting order with Kevin pieterson appeared as an opener blasted Pakistan in third and fourth ODI with two consecutive match-winning centuries as he jumped in the air by showing his bat with a remarkable century in third ODI after three and a half years, give Pakistan a clear message that batting is possible in every Conditions(Lame-Excuses on batting under artificial Lights).

The star of this series Alaister Cook looked flawless in his batting techniques with two centuries and one half century under his belt, Just missed the milestone of becoming the first ever English batsman to score three consecutive centuries in ODI’s and fourth overall after Pakistan greats Zaheer Abbas,Saeed anwar and South African Hershall Gibbs.

Now ODI’s are over for Pakistan and T20 is starting from today so what should Pakistan do in T20’s? Should go for regular wicket keeper Adnan Akmal but will have to pay in a form of one short batsman. They can play Umar Akmal as a wicket-keeper in this shorter format so we can include one extra Batsman/Allrounder. Hammad Azzam would be a very good option because now we should look for ICC WT20 in Srilanka which is not very far away and it would be an ideal time for Pakistan to utilize these youngsters and provide them this platform to showcase their talent against the No.1 T20 team in the World. Same can be said for Shahid Afridi,to come at 3 or 4 because the three score quick runs, something the team needs but I still believe that Shahid afridi must stick to No.6.

Big "?" on Imran farhat and shoaib malik, Now both should be dropped, both already had millions of chances and it’s time for selectors to go for a deserving young talent rather than go for out-of-form players or white elephants.

The last thing that I’d like to mention here that we must and should start thinking of future by considering the fact that misbah is now 37 and he will have only 1 to 2 years cricket left himself so now PCB must start thinking of 2015 world cup as all other nations have finalized their strategies. Vice-captain should be appointed so he will be groomed under the captaincy of Misbah and by far Mohammad Hafeez is looking a strongest contender to be the next captain of Pakistan. Mohammad hafeez had an outstanding 2011 and sources are confirming that he has a “ powerful say” in Pakistani team strategies and management. Some changes, good captaincy and strong decision can lead this team to highest ebb.

Pakistani team now should play with their full commitment otherwise the heart of its fans will forget their recent success and start criticizing them like they used-to in past.
