This past September in the state of Guerrero, 43 students from the rural college of Ayotzinapa were abducted, tortured and brutally murdered in the hands of a local drug cartel. They still haven’t found the remains. The command was given by the mayor of Iguala: this was a state crime. This event has consequently produced a wave of protests globally. We are tired of living in a country where a life is worth nothing. As Mexicans we have all been affected directly or indirectly by violence and corruption; this was not an isolated event this is just the tipping point.

Ayotzinapa somos todos.

The book pays homage to the sidekicks of people that shaped history. I got to draw the portrait of Marjorie Guthrie, wife of Woody Guthrie.

On september 4th, I had a solo show at Galería Breve in Mexico D.F. It was comprised of 20 ink drawings, and some ceramics I had been working on these past months. Having a show in my hometown with all my friends and family was the best feeling. We even sold out in under 2 hours! After more than 6 months here, I am heading back to Brooklyn at last.

I've been learning how to make molds while in Mexico. In the past months I created this series that will be displayed at a solo show at Galería Breve. Only In My Dreams is a zine I made in collaboration with one of my dearest and most talented friends John Garcia. It was risographed with two inks in a fancy tabloid size paper. We each worked on a spread (below are a few), and for the cover i sent him a drawing that he manipulated. I am very pleased with our project, it looks so handsome in real life.
For now it is only for sale in Mexico City at Comidas, Bebidas y Revistas, but feel free to email me for more info, if you are interested.

I was recently invited to be a part of a collective exhibition at Galería Vertigo, in Mexico D.F.

The show is called Menos 30 and it s a project that will take place once a year

to showcase the work of Mexican illustrators that are under 30 years old.

I was excited to be in a show in my hometown. The work was great and very diverse,

it will be up until August. The gallery released a very nicely edited publication with

drawings and texts about "the new generation of illustrators".
