WARNING – What I’m about to tell you does 100% work and will increase your InfoLinks income BUT it may seriously piss off any regular visitors you have. As with everything to do with advertising online each and every webmaster has their own line of what is and isn’t acceptable. I only tested this to see if it would work and won’t be using it on this blog, what you choose to do is totally up to you.

InfoLinks are my absolute favourite in-text advertising solution. In all the tests and trials I’ve done their eCPM figure consistently blows away the opposition such as AdBrite and Kontera. It’s no coincidence that I now use InfoLinks exclusively for my in-text advertising.

Even though the earning potential with InfoLinks is better than the others I’m always looking for ways of squeezing even more performance out of my ads. So when InfoLinks made available the option of having their ads single underlined instead of double underlined I just had to try it out. The results were amazing.

As web users we have become used to seeing intext advertising as having the double underline, we know what it is and we can avoid it easily. In the same respect we are used to a single underline being a regular link. If us web savvy people know that and will possibly get caught out by changing to single underlining for ads then imagine what chaos it will cause amongst your average visitor? By chaos I mean extra clicks of course, and it’s exactly what you get when you make the switch.

Moving to single underline almost doubled my CTR instantly. Almost double the CTR equals almost double the revenue as well. It’s a very easy method of making a lot more money from InfoLinks. The question is should you do it? I guess it all depends on your type of website. For example on a static content website where 90% of you visitors are new visitors then I can’t see any harm in it. It’s no more of a “trick” than doing some Google recommended Adsense blending. It will make you more money. On the other hand if you’re running a blog where the vast majority of your visitors may be regular readers, subscribers and simply people you want to keep around then I can’t recommend it. I don’t think it would take too many mistaken clicks where people think they are going to get one of your posts but get an advert instead to turn people away.

One of the most popular methods to build backlinks the last few years have been link exchanges and forums. Even though forums have been used a lot less recently there’s still plenty of bloggers promoting this method.

When trying to build backlinks through forums it’s important to understand that spam will never work since forums are more often than not allergic to spam and your thread will probably be removed within a few minutes, depending on how popular the site is.

Finding relevant forums becomes an easy task thanks to Google. Just search for “niche + forum” and you’ll most certainly get a few different alternatives.

Picking the best forums

Picking the best forums may be a bit more difficult. Check age of the forum, if it’s active, if it’s SEO-optimized, etc. Just make sure that it’s easy to find new threads to participate in without spamming.

Set up your signature

Here you’ll be using bbcode, so make sure that this particularly forum has it before spending time registering. This is how you should style your link:

Remember to use a catchy phrase without making it sound to much like spam. With this method you can receive both backlinks and visitors, so make sure other members want to visit your site.

Participate

Every post you write will contain your link in the signature, so there’s no need to write spamlike and link to your site in every post. On the other hand it might be a good idea when you’ve written a post on the particularly subject.

Try to write informative and interesting posts. If you help a member on a forum they will most certainly visit the site in your signature, giving you more than just a backlink again.

Why this is a bad method

This method have been a bad idea for several years now even if it’s still popular to promote it. On every forumpage there are hundreds of links to different pages. You’ll only receive a small amount of link power which makes several other methods more useful.

Since Google change about nofollow this method became even more useless and I doubt that anyone will promote it within a few months.

If you’re already active on a forum within your niche, add your signature. If you’re not active and is thinking about using this method only to receive backlinks, stay tune for a better method!

There are a lot of blogs about making money online. There never used to be so many but in the last 3 months it has exploded (who am I to talk, I jumped on the bandwagon as well!). What did it for me and I suspect a lot of the others was the success of John Chow, $13,000+ a month from just writing about making money is unbelievable going. The trouble with all these new blogs is finding any writing not only original content, but also the ones with useful information. You want the information that is going to help YOU make more money so with that in mind here are my top 5 make money online blogs, these are the ones I read daily:-

1. JohnChow.com – Not always on topic but when he is some of the information he gives out is great. It’s also a brilliant place to go to find the latest trends and offers in the Blogosphere. When John mentions something it nearly always turns out big.

2. BCMBlog.com – Big Cock Marketing is all about how you can make more money. Although now always “white hat” the information is straight forward, honest and if applied properly will make you money.

3. Cash Quests – A perfect example of how commenting on other peoples blogs can drive yours. Bit of a wind-up merchant but again there is good make money online info to be found in most of the posts on Cash Quests.

4. ProBlogger – Each post tends to be epic in proportion but when it comes to finding information on building a successful Blog you’ll not find anywhere better. Not strictly about making money online more about building a blog, but as everybody knows more traffic equals more money.

5. Emonetized.com – A bit of an Adsense whore like myself but like the others in my list doesn’t concentrate on how well they are doing but more on how to improve the amount of money you are making.

Of course there are plenty of others out there but a lot of just seem to write constantly about what the John Chow’s , John Cow’s and ProBloggers of this world are up to without actually giving you any real orginal content.
