WARNINGS !!!! VIDEOS, ERASING, ENVIRONMENT

2012-02-10T14:30:00.000-08:00

Drawing from videos is both a good thing, you should only use it like a training wheel, after you sketch a few times stop watching the videos and draw still life (which i hate), from your head (hard at first - fun at the end) or from a picture (which is the most popular).

Do not jump for your eraser after every mistake, wait a while and if it has to be changed them change it, otherwise just wait, it might be what your sketch needed.

If is very difficult to sketch with people are constantly looking over your shoulder, find a comfortable place to draw.

You will not get it right the first time and PLEASE REMEMBER practice makes perfect and you will not become an artist over night.

Finding your passion

2012-02-10T14:21:00.000-08:00

For some reason it seems that the thing you REALLY REALLY want to draw is the most difficult. What i sometimes to is look at some sketches to get an idea of what it should look like. Remember GOOGLE is your friend. Just type what you want and add sketch at the end. e.g. butterfly sketch

Still Life

2012-02-10T14:10:00.000-08:00

Still life was and still is the worst thing for me to sketch (I HATE IT), but it seems to be the building block for great artist. What i have learned is the:

Draw in STRONG light
Draw random objects
HAVE FUN

Shading makes the difference

2012-02-10T13:58:00.000-08:00

Shading is what makes your sketches come to life, it is also one of the most fun things to do when it relates to drawing.

The basic shading areas.

How far proper shading can take you!!!

How to start?

2012-02-10T13:29:00.000-08:00

How does someone learn to draw? Is it a talent or a skill? I stated this task on September 3, 2011 and i have enjoyed every minute of it. One thing that held me back is there was no one to teach me so i had to learn by myself. I AM NOT an expert i just practiced and got better and better. I will show you my progress in future post, upload your pencil sketches so we can learn from each other.

To start all you need is pencil and paper
