Analog Flashback

I confess, I remember when Atari was new and Pac Man was the most popular game to play! Saying that, I flashed back to fond memories of playing video games at the arcade in the mall when I saw the fabulously fun 8 Bit Bow from no. 7 at Level Up! There are nine fun colors available! Styling Confession

I confess, normally my styling starts with an outfit and then I find the shoes, jewelry, skin, hair, and so on. Well, today, it was different. Today, my styling started with the skin and hair.

To begin my styling story, in my last two posts, I have shared photos of skins available at The Makeover Room. Well, prior to logging out yesterday, I had put on the lovely Mayka skin from ND/MD at The Makeover Room. When I first viewed the skin, I was impressed with the exquisite detail, lovely cosmetics, and the captivating lashes! I was also impressed that there were three tones available and each tone package included the skin, three brow options, cleavage tattoo, and Lola appliers for only L$280!

When I logged in today, I chose to use the Claudia Shape from Anna Shapes, and then began looking for a hair style to wear. I had tried a few styles when I found the Tangled style from Analog Dog. I really liked they way the three creations complimented each other! The hair framed the face to enhance the enchanting beauty of the facial shape and skin, the skin looked beautiful with the shape, and the brows of the skin went very well with the color of the hair.

The next item I added was the darling Sugar outfit from Tameless. Sugar is one of the newest releases and is available in black and floral! I adore the fun and flirty style of the creation! I'm sure you will adore that the outfit includes the adorable top, Capri jean, heels for SLink High Feet, necklace, and bracelet for only L$249! Dealing with Stolen Content - Admiration for Creators

Dear Readers,

Hello!! I am thrilled to be back in SL and to blogging! I have missed you all so very much! It has been wonderful hearing about the adventures you have had during my absence, and I look forward to getting back in touch with everyone!

In this post, I wish to give a round of applause to creators and designers in SL. I have so much admiration for those who provide the items for our virtual lives! They spend countless hours during the process of creating and designing an item; furthermore, they also spend large amounts of money on programs, tools, education, and uploading fees!

Sadly, for their pain, some creators are robbed of their creations. I cannot imagine the heartbreak and frustration of having a creation stolen and resold under another brand. Nor can I imagine the effort which goes into proving the stolen work was your own.

I bring this situation to light as I recently learned of Kiddo Oh's battle with a design being stolen and resold by another resident in SL. I strongly encourage you to read her story on the Dead Dollz blog.

Shown in the above photo is a black version of Kiddo Oh's creation named Cosette. As stated on the Dead Dollz blog, Kiddo Oh is placing this version of her creation for sale for L$1 at the Dead Dollz main store as an effort to disrupt sales of the stolen item during the process of the DCMA filing.

After reading Kiddo Oh's story, you may be wondering what to do if you see something which may be stolen content. Well, my suggestion is to contact the original creator with the business name, location link of the item (marketplace or SLurl), and brief description of the content in question. Do not take for granted the original creator knows about the suspected theft. After making contact, it is then up to the original creator to take action to protect their intellectual property.

Though I am still having some issues, I did manage to take a few photos of some items you will find at the Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) Awareness Event. If you read the title of the event, and you have not heard of Epidermolysis Bullosa...you are not alone. On the Debra of America website, EB is referred to as, "The worse disease you've never heard of.™" EB is a genetic connective tissue disorder. Though there are several forms of EB, each form is similar in that the skin, and other tissue, is extremely fragile. The smallest amount of friction results in extremely painful tears and blisters. Those with EB are often referred to as "Butterfly Children" because their skin is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly.

I had never heard of EB until my friend, Cerise Emor, spoke to me about her RL volunteer work with Debra of America (Dystrophic Epidemolysis Bullosa Research Association of America). While we were talking, she shared with me the heartbreaking story of an 18 month-old child named "Hope" who has EB. She has grown very close to "Hope" and her family during the time she has known them. Cerise has told me some about the hospital stays and the procedures "Hope" has had to endure as she is even unable to eat because the friction of just swallowing causes injury.

I have changed the name of the child to "Hope" for the families privacy, and also because even though "Hope" is in unimaginable pain, she still manages to melt your heart with a smile and her laughter is contagious to those around to hear it.

"Hope" is the reason the EB Awareness Event in SL was dreamed into being. In late March, "Hope" was not doing well and was in the hospital again. Cerise had visited "Hope" in the hospital and spent the day with her family. She was in tears as "Hope" was having to endure so much for one so young, and she was feeling frustrated there wasn't more that could be done for her. While we were talking about "Hope" and the fact so few knew about EB, I mentioned to Cerise we should plan an event in SL to raise awareness of EB and funds for Debra of America.

Inspired by "Hope", Cerise and I reached out to Ray Burdeyna, owner of Burdeyna Islands, for assistance with a location for the event. We were so very grateful Ray donated a half-sim for the event! Next, we began reaching out to designers, creators, bloggers, entertainers, and anyone who could help by participating in the event or by donating items. We were overwhelmed by the willingness of those we contacted to help in any way they could, and by those so generous in donating their time and talents!

Being Cinderella

So, today is my birthday and I have some birthday gifts to show you!! I've split my gifts into a couple of posts, so be sure to check back later today!

My first present is the Tiffany outfit from Amarelo Manga at Designer Circle! I adore the classic design and the sheer elegance of the accessories! I let out a gasp of delight when I saw the darling clutch and fabulous jewelry!

I must say, the shoes were the most surprising gift because the HUD matches the skin tone for you! It was a snap! Plus, if you need to adjust further, you can do so very easily!

Though I didn't unwrap it today, the photos also show off the lovely Sarah shape from Anna Shapes at Designer Circle! Believe me, you don't want to miss out on this captivating shape!

I also picked the fetching hair style named Ivana as a gift! It is one of the newest releases from Tameless Hair! This style would be wonderful for any occasion!
