The Ancient Ram Inn

Another venue which didn’t fail to deliver its share of activity was the Ancient Ram Inn at Gloucester.

From Cavaliers, unspeakable black magic, murder and an incubus the night was certainly lively. The Ancient Ram Inn was once a thriving coaching inn, but is now just home for John, the current owner.

A new experiment was attempted and was a great success. Using a glow ball about the size of a small football resting on a camping table, guests were able to see spirit contact with the movement of the ball. It actually left the table a couple of times and then continued to move on the floor. Then the table itself began jumping around and sent a couple of guests running from the Ancient Ram Inn’s famous Bishops Room.

An excellent venue though a little tidying up wouldn’t go amiss. However, John has had to put up with so much during his time at the Ancient Ram Inn that it is hardly surprising it is beginning to decline a bit. Still very worthy of a visit if you ever have the opportunity.

Coincidence

Do you often find yourself thinking of something over and over or maybe singing a song and don’t know why. And when it happens do you immediately think ‘that’s a coincidence’. Well it may not be!

Spirit has to find a way to communicate with you if you are not already open and that could be in any number of ways. If you constantly find yourself thinking of the same thing and can’t find a rational reason then don’t just put it down to coincidence, rather try to find a deeper meaning.

What about that song you keep singing? Have you just heard it on the radio or heard someone else singing it? Doesn’t it annoy you having it in your head, especially if it’s a song you don’t really like and how often does that happen? Again, is it coincidence or something else?

Trying to find a different answer isn’t easy, but just give it a try. Ask yourself if it had any special significance for someone who has passed over. Did you want an answer to some problem? Does what you are thinking or singing give you an answer? Now ask yourself ‘is it just coincidence?’

I recently bought an audition book of music and it contained a song I hadn’t even heard of, but was compelled to listen to it on the CD which came with the book. I loved it and started to learn it. It was some days later when I was struggling to learn the very simple lyrics that I thought about the reason I had got the book in the first place and it wasn’t a coincidence!

I had been guided to get the book and then to that particular piece of music. My own spirit guides had a message for me and knew I had a love of music so used that to pass on the information - it just took me a while to realise it. Suddenly learning the words to the song became easy. So forget about coincidence and just look for a deeper meaning and you might realise you are being given a message just like me.

Hyde Town Hall

Blood, mass murder, creepy cellars, suicide - all the ingredients for a really good ghost hunt! That was just some of the stuff I picked up at Hyde Town Hall last Friday night.

Hyde Town Hall has holding cells and I, along with another intrepid investigator found ourselves locked in one of the cells for a vigil. Almost as soon as the cell door banged shut a spirit announced himself by promptly pushing me into the corner and then stroking my leg. Not wanting to be selfish I allowed my fellow investigator the same privilege and he was not disappointed with the spirit doing a repeat performance. The Hyde Town Hall investigation was under way.

Released from the prison, I made my way to the small exercise yard and I heard the words ‘he hung himself’ but there were already people discussing this so I decided to seek excitement elsewhere. Off to another cell that seemed to be saying come this way, see what I have in store at Hyde Town Hall cells. On entering I had an impression of blood everywhere and the bodies of slain women.

The man responsible was revelling in his ‘duties’ using what looked like a butcher’s hook to slash his victims throats and I felt suitably sick, but failed to get a name, although the medium for the night got ‘Slasher Jack’ - rather apt don’t you think? An excellent start I decided and wondered what else Hyde Town Hall could offer.

Unfortunately, there was almost nothing else to report except in one of the bars I was touching the woodwork around the bar area and got the impression that it had previously been part of the Hyde Town Hall courthouse. Right! When the court was no longer used, they recycled the wooden panels.

The event at Hyde Town Hall was definitely an investigation of two halves perhaps worthy of a repeat visit at some time in the future. Now where am I next week?

Will the ghosts of Yankee Stadium move with the new Stadium?
That has sparked curiosity with the paranormal community as well as fans. Dominick Villella, who works for Paranormal Investigation of New York City, doesn’t think the ghosts of Mickey Mantle and Joe Di’Maggio will move into the brand new museum, which is scheduled to take the place of the world-famous stadium.
Yankee CEO Lonn Trost takes a humorous approach by saying, “I have spoken to the ghosts and they will be coming with us. We have a vehicle to transport them, though you can’t necessarily see it.”

Spirit Contact

How exactly do spirits contact us? Have you ever felt a touch when there has been no-one around? Have you ever had a name pop into your head and then that person has rung or called round to see you? You may just have had spirit contact.

Our loved ones who have passed over very often try to find ways to let us know they are still around, but we don’t always recognise the signs. Do you sometimes have repetitive thoughts or dreams? If the answer is ‘yes’ then ask yourself if there is a hidden meaning, some sort of instruction or the answer to a problem you have been facing. However, you now have to ask yourself where that information came from because there are three possible sources: your spirit guide, your angels/Guardian angels or family/friends who have passed over. All you need to do is trust your gut feeling here to find the answer if you don’t already know in your heart who helped you. My guess is that you will instinctively know exactly where the spirit contact came from.

Sometimes it can be almost like a person is there with you because you may smell a perfume, see an object particularly associated with one specific person or just have an inkling and that’s enough for you to know. Do you sometimes find an object has moved? Is it spirit contact? Only you can answer that, but if you feel someone’s presence then you can tell them how much you love and miss them and then actually ask for them to show you they are with you by putting an object in a specific place and then ask for them to move it. However, don’t stand there watching it, but leave it alone for a while and then go back and see what has happened. Trust me when I say that every effort will have been made to move the object for you, but please don’t be too disappointed if it doesn’t happen. Try not to continually ask spirit to prove themselves, rather trust your own instincts.

My father died seven years ago and recently in a meditation I walked on a beach and saw a ship coming towards me and there right at the front was my dad and my heart literally soared - there is nothing to beat the feeling when you know you have had spirit contact from a loved one. I hope you can experience first hand the same sort of feeling and then you will know, just as I know, that they never truly leave you. Love is an eternal bond.

Haunting

Do you think you may have a ghost living with you? Do you feel you are being watched in your own home? Do you sometimes hear unexplained noises? It may just be coincidence - OR - you may be experiencing a haunting.

However, you may feel uncomfortable and not want your visitor to remain because you feel threatened or nervous even though there may be no evidence that your spirit visitor means you any harm. The fact is that some people are not happy with having a stranger living with them and do not want to make any sort of contact. If the spirit tends to be in one room only then ask them if they can please step back out of that room - however, it is important that you do not order them and that you are always polite. Lets face it, if someone ordered you to do something you would be far less likely to do it than if you are asked politely and spirit is exactly the same. You could also try asking them if they could please not make noises or sounds because it makes you nervous, again remembering to be tactful. You have to remember that this person may have lived in your home in the past and they still feel a strong link there. Explain exactly how you feel in simple terms and they will understand. They still may not want to leave your home permanently, but could stop trying to make contact with you and chances are that the haunting will either cease or become much less.

However, it is worth mentioning here that sometimes spirit is still here because they are ’lost’. Sometimes they are looking for someone who has already passed on, do not know how to pass on themselves or are simply afraid to go to the light. You could contact one of the many spiritual groups who would be able to help you with this, so simply use the Internet to track down them down and let them know you have a problem haunting. It is a very simple matter for them to help spirits to go to the light and pass on. That always assumes, of course, that the spirit wants to go and is not either grounded here or just simply wants to stay of their own accord.

Sometimes spirits just want to stay on in a place that has happy memories for them and are not willing to pass on and go to the light. In extreme cases a spirit can be grounded here, but that is usually someone who has done something bad on earth and will not be granted the right to pass on. However, if the latter is haunting your home then you would have a totally different experience and have bad feelings or poltergeist activity and it may be necessary to think seriously about exorcism. This is an extreme measure and is a very rare occurrence, however.

The best advice I can give is try to live with your spirit in harmony, if necessary by striking up an understanding and letting them know how you feel and you should easily be able to live with your haunting spirit friend.

Paranormal Events

Have you ever wondered what to do for a special occasion? Birthday, anniversary and Christmas becoming a chore trying to think of what presents to buy? Well, why not think about a paranormal event. There are plenty of companies out there who, as well as doing organised events at which you simply book a ticket in advance and join like-minded people, will also organise a private function for a group of friends to visit a haunted location of their choice and it can be a very enjoyable night. If you are not sure where to visit, they will often suggest places that are close to your location, but it may be worth doing a bit of research on the internet to see if you can find your own location.

The cost of such an event is difficult to assess here, because it depends on the actual location and the number of people who will be attending, but all of this can be explained in a simple phone call. Use the internet to source the companies that offer this sort of experience and then begin to make your enquiries. At normal ticketed paranormal events you will often be put into groups with strangers, although your shared interest becomes a natural bond and you will soon feel right at home. However, doing the event with your own group of family or friends is, naturally, a much more special occasion.

Another way, if going as an individual group is too costly, is to choose a paranormal event and book individual tickets, but ask if all the people in your group can be put together because you are celebrating something special and this is intended to be a present. On the whole, if there are not large numbers of people, the paranormal companies will try their best to grant your request. You might also like to do something special for Halloween and most paranormal companies will have an event of some kind planned for this time of year.

Paranormal events are certainly a new and exciting kind of gift - think about getting your group together and paying for the person who is celebrating, but please remember that alcohol is frowned upon by investigating companies, so best leave this to another day - sorry!! Moving on with Spiritual Development

Now that you have begun to move forward into the world of spiritualism you might ask yourself ‘how do I develop this skill?’. The answer is simple: spiritual development.

There are many spiritualist churches which offer a variety of development courses and it is best to contact these to see what is available. As well as targeted classes, they might also offer something called circle time where the participants simply sit in a circle and are given the opportunity to open up to their spirit guides and receive information or messages that can be passed on. However, for the beginner I would strongly recommend the spiritual development courses themselves as you would be working with experienced mediums/clairvoyants who can help you develop and nurture your new-found skills. There may be a small charge, but you should find these courses to be of immense value.

You might also consider going private with a recognised medium/teacher and in this case you will find that your skills and insights will absolutely explode. However, you must understand that because this is a private one-on-one teaching experience it comes with a high price tag, but if you are serious about your spiritual development then this might be well worth considering. This is the path that I took and came away after a two day course (4 hours each day) having learnt so much and met not one, but four spirit guides who are with me still. It may also be possible to take a course which is offered by some of the ‘ghost hunting’ organisations and in this case, the price will be much lower, but remember you will be part of a group, so the teaching will not be so intense. However, there is merit in doing this initially to set the groundwork for your development.

Do we have Guardian Angels?

A simple enough question, but yet not so easy to answer or, perhaps, understand. What exactly is a Guardian Angel and do we need them? Well, in just the same way as everyone, believer or non-believer has a guide we all have Guardian Angels constantly striving to make our lives better. However, just as we have to invite our guides in, we also need to invite our angels in as well.

Let me ask you a question: Have you ever been about to do something and then changed your mind, but not been aware why. Then later you found that if you had done it, it would have ended badly for you. Then you find yourself saying ‘that was lucky’ or ‘what a coincidence I didn’t do it’ or, even more telling ‘someone was watching over me’. Well, my friend, the truth is that someone was watching over you - your Guardian Angels. Now I know I said earlier that you have to invite your angels into your life, but they are there to protect you and will sometimes step in to complete their mission for you without being invited - or do they? Perhaps you had a niggling doubt about that something you were about to do and sub-consciously asked for guidance and the angels say ‘ask and it shall be given to you’.

The next time you are uncertain about something just ask your angels for their guidance and then turn the problem over to them. They will find a way to answer you, providing you are serious about wanting a solution., but never try to force an answer. They will work in subtle ways and if you find you have repetitive thoughts or dreams then it is your Guardian Angels answering your question or solving your problem. Trust your intuition or gut feeling and you will find your outlook on life will change for the better.

Simple Meditation Techniques

The idea of meditation frightens a lot of people, because they imagine they have to sit cross legged on a cushion, chanting for hours on end. The simple truth is that we meditate almost every day without even realising it! How often do you day dream, stare off into space during a boring talk, watch the TV, but find yourself staring at the screen without actually seeing the images? Thought so. Well you have just meditated my friend. These are simple meditation techniques you didn’t even know about, but lets look at meditation in order to meet your spirit guides.

First of all you must be free of distraction so go into a quiet room with no phones and where you are not likely to be disturbed by family members. Just sit for a while and allow your mind to wander through your day, then gently close your eyes and ask your guide to meet you in a forest clearing. as you begin this simple meditation technique. You can ask out loud or in your head, but know that your guide will hear you. Imagine you are in a forest on a sunny day, see small animals (rabbits, foxes, birds etc.) and just enjoy the peace and quiet as you begin to walk on the forest path. Continue along and then up ahead you see a clearing, but don’t rush, just walk slowly along the woodland path enjoying the sun. As you near the clearing see two benches, or if you prefer they could be upturned tree trunks or even large boulders, but they face one another across the clearing. You will stroll unhurriedly to the seat on the right of the clearing, leaving the left hand one for your guide to occupy. Sit down and continue to enjoy the tranquil setting while glimpsing the seat opposite you. Don’t be upset if the seat is empty, for your guide may not consider it the right time to meet with you on this, your first, meditation. Just know for certain that your guide will appear on this seat when he/she considers the time is right and believe me when it happens you will have goose bumps! When you meet with your guide simply talk and chat as if meeting an old friend not forgetting to ask if there is anything you need to know.

The time you choose to take over these simple meditation techniques can be a matter of a few minutes as long as you don’t rush and only meditate when you feel comfortable doing it - you should never view meditation as a chore. Also, if you want to choose a different location for your walk that is fine as long as you always have two chairs, benches or whatever facing each other. For example, you could pick a meadow, beach, by a riverside or lake - just choose something you would like doing in real life If you want to have music playing in the background or through headphones that can be helpful, but don’t have it so loud it intrudes. Once completed, simply retrace your steps back to the starting point and then gently open your eyes, feeling renewed, refreshed and totally calm.

How to Contact your Spirit Guide

Every person on earth has a spirit guide whether they be a 100% believer or a 250% non-believer. However, they cannot communicate with you without you actually asking them to enter your lives. A bit like seeing a friend across the street - they won’t talk to you unless you let them know you are there and want to talk to them. So, how do you contact your spirit guide?
Simply ask, that’s right simply ask your guide to make themselves known to you. You don’t need to ask out loud if that would make you feel self-conscious, but ask the question in your head and if you do this before going to bed ask for your guide to visit you in your dreams. If you are uncomfortable asking for spirit contact in your dream state, then just ask for your guide to speak to you and let you know they are there. You might be surprised at the results and just how easy it is to contact your spirit guide.

Normally spirit guides will introduce themselves to you at the time you least expect and it will normally be something that just appears to pop into your head when you are thinking about what to cook for tea!! If a name is given to you, then chances are high that you have been given your spirit guide’s name and in future use this name when asking for further contact from your guide. Even if there is someone in the family with the same name, if it popped into your head when you weren’t thinking of that person, still go with it and use it again to contact your spirit guide as a way of getting confirmation of their name.

Another very successful way to contact your spirit guides is by meditation, but please don’t be put off by this it really is very simple and can be done in a matter of a few minutes, but please refer to the section on Meditation Techniques for further information.

How to Understand Paranormal Activity

When something happens that you can’t explain it is not always easy to admit it could be paranormal activity - unless, of course, you already believe! When you are attending an investigation and doing the night-time vigils the senses are naturally heightened because of the darkness and the imagination can easily take over. Did you hear something, see something sense something? Or is the darkness playing tricks?

First of all, give yourself a few minutes to get used to the darkness, allowing your senses to tune in and adjust to these changed conditions. Of course, in the dark it is much easier to see any light anomalies or orbs, although these can sometimes be just flying insects or dust. However, if they move in an irregular or sporadic way then it is not so easy to discount these and they could be orbs which, it is thought, are the beginnings of a manifestation of a spirit being. Noises such as taps or bangs or audible sighs and moans are often not so easily explainable and have sent many an investigator running and screaming! Being touched by spirit can be anything from the merest brush, hardly even detected, to an actual push. However, sensing paranormal activity close by can be a most exciting thing and should be enjoyed as, on the whole, spirit does not want to frighten or harm their visitors. Closeness can be confirmed by feelings of dizziness or sickness and, in the extreme, headaches, but all of these conditions soon fade and there should be no long term effects. Changes in temperature, particularly sharp drops, are another way of sensing paranormal activity.

If you find yourself having strange, unexplained thoughts, especially if a name keeps popping into your head then say it out loud so that the rest of your group can confirm if they are having the same thoughts. Also, by saying the name aloud you are letting spirit know they have succeeded in communicating with you and are far more likely to give additional information. Paranormal activity is something to be embraced like an old friend and you should feel honoured that spirit have chosen you to come close to. The more you open yourself up to this contact the greater will be your enjoyment. However, be aware that not all spirits are friendly - but that is topic covered elsewhere in more detail.

How to Book a Paranormal Investigation

This is really quite easy, but the prices vary so much it is worth considering exactly what you want to get out of the night. You can find dozens of companies offering paranormal investigations in every corner of the country and many that actually offer overseas trips and then there are the paranormal week-ends. A minefield as I said, so how do you choose?

If you are new to this, then choose a one nighter and, if possible, stay reasonably close to home, so just search on the internet for ‘paranormal investigations’, ‘ghost hunts’ and the like and you will see just how many companies offer this kind of thing. The next consideration is the price and, believe me, there will be a big difference here according to what any particular company has to offer. They will all give you pretty much the same in the way of a ghost walk to familiarise you with the building and then the vigils through the night when you have the chance to try and connect with any spirit entities, pick up on energies or hear noises. However, some will have a whole host of equipment for you to use which gives a more scientific approach or have a buffet supper prior to the vigils. Beware, however, because these are the companies that will charge you much more because of the extras they are offering. If this is what you want, then fine, but if you just want to get down to the nitty gritty of ‘ghost hunting’ then go for the more basic paranormal investigating companies and take your own food., thus keeping the cost down. It is also wise to either take your own non alcoholic drink or ensure that there will be refreshments provided through the night.

Getting yourself to the venue is the easy part when you are wide awake and looking forward to the event, but remember, they do finish at 5.00 - 6.00 in the morning and then, having been awake all night you have to get yourself back home again safely. Always check the distance to the venue very carefully to ensure you are not having to drive for long periods of time and, if necessary, take a break. Your paranormal investigation should be a fun and informative event so please don’t spoil it for yourself by travelling too far initially. Happy ghost hunting.

Why do things go bump in the night?

Have you ever heard strange noises which you can’t explain easily? Have you ever thought you saw something out of the corner of your eye when you knew you were alone? Seen any strange, unexplained lights? Even had lights turn on and off, or doors open or close? If the answer is ‘yes’ then you have probably had a paranormal happening and chances are you have a spirit living with you, but don’t let this freak you out. Most spirits are perfectly harmless and are just trying to communicate with you by attracting your attention. Try asking them to give you a name and you may surprise yourself when a name appears to just pop into your head - your spirit friend has just answered you and you have just experienced first hand a paranormal happening. Congratulations!!

The main thing to remember is that all spirits were once people just like you or me and, in general, they simply want to talk to you but can’t do it over a cup of coffee. Chances are very high indeed that they had some strong connection to the house that you now live in, but don’t ever think that they resent you being there because that is generally not the case. They merely see you as someone to whom they can communicate something of themselves and their life in your home when they were in their physical bodies. Once you have established contact with them by asking their name you may find that ideas or suggestions keep popping into your head and, once again, this is spirit giving you information about themselves. There is absolutely no need to be apprehensive, the more you talk to them (even if it is just in your head, there is no need to ask questions out loud if you don’t want to) the better will be your communication levels. You should soon be thoroughly enjoying this paranormal happening and talking to your spirit as if he or she is just another friend popping by.
