Disclaimer: I am a Microsoft and a Windows Phone enthusiast.

I started my journey with Windows Mobile back in the days when a phones named LG KS 20 used to exist. Then on November 8, 2010 Microsoft made an unexpected move and launched a new smartphone OS which in the near future would become the number 3 mobile OS called "Windows Phone". Now to cut the long story short...they came up with a new OS and named it "Windows Phone".. I am sure you already know what it is...most of you will be #WinPhan s who are reading this article anyway...so why am I saying all this ? Lets just get straight to the point...

One really cool feature Microsoft gave their Windows Phone platform was emoticons while texting. Now before some of you already start thinking that its not much of a big deal...I would suggest you stop reading. This article will take into account some of the aspects on how this feature can be further improved in the coming series of Windows Phone 8 which has already been RTM'd...but a minor software update by the OEM's can fix this perhaps. Why Windows Phone ?

One question I am always asked by familiar ones is "Why Windows Phone ?" Well true that I have always been a Microsoft Fan ever since I started using the PC or my first smartphone which was a Windows Mobile Professional 6 device, but all that aside its the pure simplicity of Windows Phone and the Intuitiveness which makes me choose it over any other smartphone platform like Android or iOS. More than 50% Android devices now sold under Microsoft Licensing

Microsoft today announced that more than half of Android device OEM’s and ODM’s are now under licensing agreement with Microsoft for its Patents. Microsoft in its tenth license agreement provided coverage under patent portfolio for Android mobile phones and tablets. This marks Microsoft’s ninth Android agreement in the last four months and whats more important is that companies accounting for more than half of all Android devices have now entered into patent license agreements with Microsoft.

While lawsuits may dominate many of the headlines, these are being overtaken by the number of license agreements being signed. Microsoft is building their extensive experience with patent licensing and over the past decade they’ve spent roughly $4.5 billion to license in patents from other companies, which have given them the opportunity to build on the innovations of others in a responsible manner that respects their IP rights. Windows Phone to get Multi-Core Chips with “Tango” and “Apollo” Updates.

Microsoft plans to make it big at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 (in January) where they plan to release Tango 1 update to the Windows Phone 7.5 and at the Mix 2012 (in April) it plans to issue Tango 2 update, according to a roadmap of Microsoft published by MS nerd blog. It is expected that Tango will bring support for 4G/LTE networks as well as 480*320 screen resolution, which means that it will be possible to make create QWERTY phones based on Windows Phone operating system. In addition, Tango will bring-in support for 1280*720 resolution.

The future of Windows Phone and XBox integration

Microsoft has revealed more information about its Windows Phone and Xbox interactions on Wednesday. The company launched a new Kinectimals application that allows Windows Phone users to create their own characters on the go and then transfer them straight onto the Xbox. The application uses a QR code to allow the Kinect camera to read and create the character made from a Windows Phone device. It’s one of the first examples of what Microsoft is planning for its Windows Phone and Xbox integration. The second is an application that will allow Windows Phone users to control their Xbox console from their phone. The Xbox companion app will be made available for free to Windows Phone users and will let owners find and control content from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Xbox 360.

Microsoft’s Vision of the Future

The official Microsoft Blog recently published an article which demonstrated Microsoft’s glimpse into the future of productivity. Kurt DelBene today announced a new video that shows their vision on the future of productivity.

The video carries forward many of the themes laid out there, as well as introducing some new ones. Natural user interfaces, displays everywhere, an ecosystem of devices, cloud computing are consistent. New themes emerge in this video such as technology working on our behalf, and context plays a much bigger part in many scenes. As Kurt notes in his post, this vision is no flight of fancy – all of the ideas contained in the video are based on real technology – from Microsoft and others.

Microsoft Lync for Windows Phone 7 Coming Soon

Team Microsoft has surprised us yet again at the technology event TechEd held in NZ. At the event, Microsoft unveiled its messenger service, primarily focusing on the business community, pretty much like BBM, called Lync !According to reports Microsoft Lync is all set to make its presence felt on Android, iOS, Symbian and Windows Phone, in the last quarter of this year. This also means a possible feature on all Mango devices to be released in this quarter. The app will enable regular texting, but also will have audio and video conferencing options enabled. On some devices the front-facing camera will work to the benefit of Lync users.
