前にも書き着ましたが、山岳救助を題材としたマンガです。懸命に救助をおこないますが、助かる場合もあれば駄目な場合もあり、そのあたりは１巻のときから変わっていません。実にシビアなストーリーです。それと共に山の魅力や怖さを存分に伝えているのも変わっていません。相変わらず冬山は寒そうです。

この巻では、悩む人が多く登場しています。理由はまちまちですが、彼らが山に登り、明日の活力を得たり、山の風景に感動したりする様子が描かれています。その中で一番悩んでいるのは山岳救助隊の阿久津隊員でしょう。救助隊を続けるのか、諦めて山を降りるのか、そういった葛藤が描かれています。これらの悩みが描かれた影響で、救助活動のストーリーは余りありませんでした。

このマンガの読者は、山が好きな人もいればそうではない人もいるでしょう。ただ、このマンガを読むことで、山は良いもんだなという感情は、誰もが持たれるんじゃないかと思います。私もまた、山は良いもんだなと感じて読んでいます。

前巻の続きで、ＤＸとイオンの故郷のエカリープでストーリーは進みます。過去のおさらいが今巻のメインなので、進むってのはちょっと違うかもしれません。過去の戦争、行方不明の王女、革命の真実（リゲイン・ルッカフォート（ＤＸとイオンの父）が成したといわれる革命）。そこらへんが語られています。それに加えて、ＤＸの小さいときの話が入っています。

ランドリオールはファンタジーものです。モンスターなんかもいますが、どちらかと言うと騎士が活躍する戦乱の時代を描いています（今現在戦時中ではないですが）。ＤＸは一応王位継承者なんですが、王位はどうでも良いと思っているわけです。なんですが、今巻で過去のいきさつを知り、また、彼を王へと推挙するクエンティン（玉階、キングメーカー）の事情を知りました。ＤＸ自信の心変わりがあるかわかりませんが、なんとなく王位への興味は持ったんじゃないかと感じます。いろんな人の思惑が絡みますが、結局ＤＸの進む道は彼自身が決めるわけで、それは現時点では全くわかりません（王位とか言う以前に、突拍子の無いことをしそうだけど）。先が見えない分、楽しみが残ります。さくっと次を読みたいなと私自身は思っています。
