Check your TV listings for airtimes! See how many lines you can recite while watching, and maybe play the drinking game if you're inclined.

Ernest Borgnine, dead at 95

2012-07-20T13:29:00.001-07:00

Sorry, I'm not going to make a hairpiece joke. But seriously, legendary actor Ernest Borgnine passed away yesterday due to renal failure. I'm sure everyone has a favorite movie of his, considering he's easily been in over 100 films during his career. My favorite of his was BASEketball (obviously) where he played billionaire Ted Denslow. Some other ones I remember were Poseidon Adventure and Gattaca. Of course 95 is an old age to live to, but it always seems like people are taken too early.**The above was originally posted at the B Long Blog last week, sorry for the delay!**

In honor of Borgnine's memory, 11 Points has a list of "11 BASEketball Quotes Applied to Ernest Borgnine's Death, Ranked by Tact":

11. "You kids with your loud music, and your Dan Fogelberg, your zima, hula hoops, and Pac-Man video games -- don't you see? People today have attention spans that can only be measured in nanoseconds."

10. "Did they try to save him with those heart paddles? The ones George Clooney uses?"

9. "He was health challenged and survival impaired."

8. "Looks like your boy Borgnine bought the farm."

7. "What an unfortunate thing to happen on dozen egg night."

6. "Today we lost the big game and a dear friend. It certainly does seem to be raining shit."

view the rest after the jump!

5. "He was a hero because his vision brought BASEketball from neighborhood driveways into big arenas but more importantly into the hearts of TV's America. It's a very sad day. His untimely death casts an unbearable pall over an otherwise sweet victory. HEY! YEAHH! [double thumbs up]."

4. "Ernest Borgnine, dead at 95. His hairpiece was 24."

3."Ernest Borgnine's dead? I guess that's why he didn't move around a lot."

2. "For all I care, he's hanging by his neck in his fucking closet."

1. "By all accounts, [he] seemed to be the only one surprised by his death and it appears time just finally ran out for the old cocksucker."

Note: Any true fan would know that most of these "quotes" are edited a bit to achieve the desired effect... or maybe I've just seen the movie waaaaay too many times!

Added a bunch more YouTube videos to the "Media" page, including some on-set interviews, clips, and more.

Also, here's some other older BASEketball sites:

BASEketball at WikiQuote
Sound Clips (More available at the old 1Colony site, but I'd hold off on those for now due to bandwidth)
BASEketball at TV Dance
BASEketball vs. Dodgeball (79% picked BASEketball!)
Statistical Analysis of BASEketball (Very interesting read!)
The Shenangahela BASEketball League

More soon.

Videos added

2011-04-18T21:19:00.000-07:00

Added a bunch of videos to the Media page, so click the tab and check them out. Vids are from YouTube, and include all but one of the outtakes from the BASEketball VHS (YouTube apparently doesn't like Matt and Trey's asses). Also included are a clip of an interview where Matt and Trey talk about Yasmine Bleeth, Siskel and Ebert's review of the film, Reel Big Fish's music video for "Take On Me" and the BASEketball/Time Warped connection.

Enjoy!

Back in Action

2011-04-16T19:14:00.000-07:00

After multiple server/site changes, I've finally landed the site here. Hopefully it'll be here to stay. Everything will essentially be the same, but I can't see there being too many updates (last one was 2006!). Anyway, give me some time to get everything up and running. Stay tuned.
