AVG Error "Invalid Update Control CTF File"

For the last few days, My AVG free antivirus is failing to update with the wierd reason. Today, I thought of finding the solution for it, and dropped the search text as the error message and clicked "I'm Feeling Lucky". the first result that pops out.. is from winhelponline blog

The above page states the solution to the issues as delete two *.ctf files in some update directory of AVG installation.
Not only that, in that blog, the author Ramesh Srinivasan, has provided a VB script to delete the file by running a vb script. That's a very good one. I downloaded the vbscript and run it(after going thru the vbscript) to delete the two ctf files.
Immediately after running the vbscript, I tried the AVG update, it updates flawlessly. Thanks to Ramesh Srinivasan. Thats solves the AVG issue.

Its been more than three months since my last blog, the reason as i said earlier blog,i.e., I could didn't find much time spend in internet, and struggling/slogging lots of time to complete the work. Though still the work is not completed, However trying to get the blogging mode. Still not clear of what to write in this blog.

May be I could add the some new(though old, but new for me) BSNL's Unlimited internet Plan for almost 625/month (this is not exactly correct, as to avail this price, one has to pay 7500/year in one shot to BSNL)
but i.e, quiet a good price. Hoping that it will decrease more.

Its a fantastic fantacy movie from imsai arasan fame Chimbudevan. His way of story telling is thrilling at the same time its full humour. To say a particular scene that explains the above line, God (prakash raj ) cautions dubaakkurs that 2100 people to going to die in the next 4 seconds and later, its fun to know that it was 2100 mosquitoes that died.

The chimbudevan's style of mocking against the big corporates is quite innovative. In this movie the target was moved from coca cola, pepsi to Infosys (as kollaiasys :). Its not only innovative, but also courageous attempt in making fun out of the real life situation prevalent in the society. Hats off to Chimbudevan.

There is lot to blog about the movie, and i became a greatest fan of Chimbudevan. Waiting for his Next movie.

There is another thing to cherish in this blog as this is my first moblog or mobile blog. that makes this blog goes a level up.

Tray It

Tray it - Its a one of the tool, i was searching for a long time, finally got it over the last week. Its a free windows tool using which we can mimimize any windows application to system tray.

Normally when I click the minimize button of an application, say for example Eclipse or Toad, it gets minimized to task bar. As I wont be actively using the application, over the time, my taskbar would be loaded with more than ten application. To overcome this issue, If I close the app, instead of minimizing, the next time when I open the app, It will be waste of time (Java based GUIs). So I want the application minimized to system tray instead of task bar, there by minimizing the clutter in task bar. Exactly this is what is done by this application.

So Now on, Just press the Shift key when clicking the minimize button, the app will be minimized to system tray.(you have to download and run it)

Note:- Also, using this you can play hide and seek on the app when somebody(boss) around your computer :)

Breaking the Silence

Generally, a blogger (like me) fails to blog continuously, because one or more of the following Four reasons.

1. There is nothing happened in my life to blog about..( which is impossible.)
2. There happened lots of things and got busy with the things that came up.
3. No internet connection.
4. good bye to blog

For me, Its the second reason that make this blog silent over the last month. Not only that there is slight touch of third reason i.e.I had limited access to internet.

It is good in one way, as always quality work is associated with the efficient usage of limited internet rather than slogging all time in internet.

Over the last month, though I have been to Chennai and Bangalore over the last two week, I could not meet lots of my friends. As I used to say, In Life, "It happens".

And also, There were lots of events, trips and learnings i have come across that definitely needs blogging. Hope I would blog something better in the next blog other than mere update. Let's see...

Its my return to India or Karnataka after a year at uk. I am hoping to see lots of changes in the bengalooru and every place i would be seeing it in the next month. Sa-rang-nee (love teeth) is a korean word for wisdom teeth which refers to the young age and the pain of first love.

One and half years back, I still remember those days, I was very hungry, but I dont want to eat. I find it very hard to eat even curd rice. It was those days, all i had was some juice, coffee or milk or tea. I was not able to eat the cake for some celebration. I missed chicken biriyani in food court. All the sufferings is because of the Wisdom Teeth. I was under the impression that it was the last one. Now it's back again.

Yes, Now, the terror strikes me again after a long wait of one and half years. Hope this time, it wont be so painful as earlier. But, I am sure it would grow into stronger and healthier teeth as the earlier.

3 x 9 = 3... Dyscalculia

If you think this blog is about new theory explaining how 3 x 9 equals 3, you are wrong. Bindaaz. If you really interested in learning how 3 x9 equals 3, watch the movie "Taare Zameen Par" and here goes a mixture of my learnings and the review of the movie.

When I read the sub title of the movie "Every Child is Special", I thought why only the child is special, its everything in the world is special. Later I consoled myself that it was a movie about child, so it has to be like that.

if Aamir Khan (or any well established person) is not there in this movie, I am sure that this would be a another documentary movie gone unnoticed. The presence of Aamir Khan in this movie makes it a commercial one. When I say "documentary movie", please dont imagine, that I am underrating the movie. Most of the documentary movies were master stroke, but its sad that they always fail to win in the commercial market. Another interesting point I have noticed is that, this movie has got the shades of Rajini's Old movie, "???????? ???????????(Anbulla Rajini Kanth)".

Every Movie is Special and has got some information that enriches knowledge. In this movie, its a new term , Dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disability with respect to written language. The Term Dyslexia appears as if it was a disease or some kind of mental disablity. But its not so. For example, if you are finding difficulty with reading and writing of "? ?" in tamil or "? ?" in Kannada, you have got Dyslexia. Whats actually requires is motivation, mentorship, & guidance. So, it was true that all humans have dyslexia. Though for us, its unnecessary or self interest, but For kids, its mandatory.

Now, to the title of blog, Similar to Dyslexia, Dyscalculia is a term refer to the difficulty in learning maths and the way how 3 x 9 equals 3 was explained is simply extraordinary.

Movie Or Ad?

The Top Heroes of Tamil Movie Industries wont act in two minutes ADs. But, all they act was, for a 2 or 3 hour ads. I think they want the people to pay for it even it comes to watching them in ad.
Its basically, a James Bond formula where almost all product finds a way to marketing through movies. However Tamil Movies were far behind from those Hollywood movies, where one doesnt feel the presence of Advertisement in the movie.

Recently, I watched Billa 2007, the movie is nothing but a collection of ads. The Ads were simply stylish and Dialogs were sleek(+dubbed tamil). I like the creativity in Ads. But, I was really disappointed(surprised), when Pepsi Light Ad appears before the Ultimate Star introduction title. However, Billa is just another super hit movie in the line of Sivaji & Azhagiya Tamil Magan.

What do you think about these tamil movies, is it really films or ads?

Lorelle on Wordpress, is one of the best wordpress blog series, where Lorelle presents the loads of information on wordpress and blogging in general . Her writing style was simply awesome and it marks an unique signature in art of writing. Though I dont have any interest in implementing those ideas and blog tips, unknowingly some of it finds it way towards implementation here in this blogs. (inspiration. huh?)

Anyways, Lets go to the story, Two days back, I come across this tip on wordpress by, Lorelle's working ahead - Future Posts with Wordpress. i.e., Write Today, Post Tommorrow.. Worpress provides an option to edit the timestamp of the post. Using which one can edit the Timestamp of the post to some future date. Wordpress, would release the post to the readers, only after the chosen date and time.

To publish a blog at a future date, just set the timestamp to some future date. Wordpress does the rest of the job.

Edit Time Stamp Feature has been with wordpress for more than a year. But at first sight, Many wont find its real purpose. Lorelle has explained it very well in her blog. I am sure, that this tip holds good for blogspot users too.

India Grows with a Rupee

It was known that Indian Currency Appreciation, has caused hues and cries all across the country, from IT ( Saturday work plan), to the Textile Industries, (Trippur 1000s lose their job). Almost all industries that has a revenue based on Exports were affected due to this reason. On the first sight, It appears that India was going down. But However, its really, really hard to accept that these were the symptoms of rapid growth of India compared to other world countries.

Manmohan Singh's Speech (dated 19/12/2007) quite motivative, and make us to look forward.

Our policy must be tuned [in] to sustain nine per cent growth even if world growth slows down and global food and fuel prices continue to remain under pressure. India should have the ambition and the courage to sustain the current acceleration of growth no matter what happens globally. Our domestic economy can sustain such a growth process but we will need to pursue policies that can sustain growth. While India must remain alert to trends in the global economy, we must also recognise that the world is looking at India as a new engine of growth. If our economy continues to grow despite a global slowdown, we will be able to lift millions of our people from poverty and generate employment for our youth, Dr. Singh said.

Katrathu Kaiyalavu

An English Rhymes from the Tamil Movie, "Katrathu Tamil", One of the Excellent movie of the year, packed with interesting, informative dialogs and intuitive screenplay. Achan kovil, Xaviers College, Tirunelveli (My Dad graduated there), munusaamy(A tamil Graduate), takes me back and forth in time. Even the dumb story of a dream tiger which is dreaming about the dream desert, adds unknown beauty to the movie. A One line about IT...

"If India is a growing, it has to be equivalent in all industry. if only Leg (IT) is growing, it is a Disease (yaanai Kaal), we have to cure it."

explains the impact of IT over other industry. Just like real life, this movie has got no logic :)

Unlike my earlier blogs on Movies, This blog going to be a sketch of incidents that cames to my mind while watching this movie.

Incident 1:

Guindy, 04:30 pm, I have just reached the Gandhi Mandapam Bus Stand after ten minutes ran/walk from the hostel. I have got one and hours to reach the egmore railway station, so that I can catch the train by 0600pm . One and Half hour is more than enough for anyone to travel from Gandhi Mandapam to Egmore, provided 23C is ready to take immediately. As per the wide known fact that the expected bus wont come at expected time, 23C has not yet arrived while half an hour is already gone. My mind races for alternate strategy and it orders me to take any next bus, as any bus from gandhi mandapam has to go thru either saidapet or Guindy. From there, I can travel to Egmore thru metro train. Immediately, I took the bus that just appeared. It was well crowded bus. I have managed to stand in the foot stands. I checked my pocket for money. I was stuck. All I have got is a one rupee coin and a hundred rupee note (luck/unluck) while the ticket price is 1 rupee 50 paise. Conductor has got the one rupee, starts pestering me (sorry:) for the fifty paise which i didnt have. With in five minutes, the bus reached the stop. I have to drop. Now It was funny, but at that time, I was thinking that Ticket Checker, will catch me if I drop without getting ticket. I was clueless what to do. But, in that crowd, suddenly, a hand appears out of nothing, gives me a fifty paise. I said thanks, and give the coin to the conductor and immediately dropped from the bus. While I was walking to Saithai railway station, i realised that i have not even seen the guy who gave me the coin. I said thanks to empty air.:)

This incident is very usual one and It made me help people who were under such incidents on bus, couple of times.
"Katrathu Tamil" , incident has to be the worst of all, on similar grounds.

Incident 2:
This is an incident I have heard in my College when I was doing first year. I dont know whether it is a true incident or just a story.

It should be some year in 1990s, Patrick (Assumed Name) was from Coimbatore. He was always good at his studies and so he has got good marks in entrance examination and ranked in top 50 students in all over Tamilnadu. Because of his marks, He can get any course, in any college he can think of. Being from Coimbatore, the city which is known for its Cotton industries, he choose the course as "Textile Engneering" in CEG. I dont know what made him to choose, CEG more than PSG or GCE. His assumption is that, immediately after completing the course, he can join/contribute to cotton industry over there.

Unfortunately, he doesnt aware of the real status of Textile Engineering department, which is some what like the Tamil department. The opportunity to get a job for textile was very very very less or impossible at those time. But now, textile students wont take much notice of the Textile Industries, as IT industry is swallowing all Graduates.

Back to the story, He has joined the college. After some days, he was broken down when he came to know about the real oppurtunity of Textile Engineering from seniors and friends. Though he consoles himself, the real pain resides calm in his heart. Sometimes, He was disturbed by his Friends who take this incident as a snoop and pour more oil into the burning fire. Days were gone. Sometime during his second semester, he has committed suicide.

In Katrathu Tamil, its other way around.

Lakshmi Theatre

This blog is my personal experience which is going to be based on the moral of this blog "Are we Thinking out of the Box".

In many ways, People are like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up.

It's all about Lakshmi Theatre. The One of the famous cinema theatre in Madivala (bangalore) that is near to my home. This theatre is special for me, as, it reminds me the above moral.

A year back, I got a transfer from Trivandrum to Bangalore. Being a movie (theatre) freak and new to the city, I want to fullfill my appetite in both. I want to watch new movies releasing in city and also roam around the city. The solution or strategy I have followed is that, if a new movie was released in the city, I would watch the movie in a theatre for which i havent been before.

For everything, there is a starting point. Starting point for this exploration was began with the search of theatre "Aruna" for the movie "Pattiyal". I dont want to go into the movie details, however, it is a good movie, almost pithamagan remade.

After almost one month, I was still living there in Madivala(Bangalore). I have watched a movie in Forum. I felt that I was getting narrowed down. The initial aspiration was not there anymore, anyway, I wouldnot let my ignition switch off. It was at those time, I came to know about Lakshmi Theatre in Tavarakere near Madivala. I dont remember what was my first movie in Lakshmi Theatre.

We took the Auto and we memorised the route all the way to the theatre. After Reaching there, We estimated the distance from home and as per our calculations, the movie theatre was not so far, jus 20 min walk. Thanks to the Auto for showing the way. After watching the movie, we were back home by the same route on walk.

Almost three months have gone. By this time, we have watched the some three to four movies Don , Superman Returns, Dhoom etc in the same theatre. All the time, we have taken the same route.

But that is not all. One fine day, when I was returning from Taverekere, I find a narrow street going straight just before the usual route. I have decided to try that street. voila. You wont believe me. It takes me directly to the back of my house. Its just five minutes walk.. :)

This is one such small event that happened to me. But after that I came across lots of similar incidents however, this is significant compared to others as the impact of this incident was quite long i.e, three months.

What to write?

I was thinking about this topic for almost thirty minutes. The actual topic is , "enna ezhuthuvathu?" in Tamil. I couldnt make the exact english translation for this silly topic. My closest matches were "what can I write" or "what I have to write" or "what needs to be written" or "What do I Write?". I would be happy If you can help me solve this riddle.

This topic used to appear in my mind. But I left it open, so that some day, I would write about it. But this idea was blown, when I read "Arunachalathin Aluval" by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Only after reading the story, I realised the absurdity of this topic, though it was one of the most famous topic for years.

Interestingly, I went thru web statistics of my site for the last month to find that just two visitors had visited my blog. My Special Thanks to them. I hope this rate have to go in the upward trend in future. I am quiet puzzled with spam comments, I have got more than 1000 comments, but it is not appearing in web statistics.

Anyway, the very purpose why I dropped the blog is to say that I have updated the version ofwordpress theme, i3Theme from 1.2 to 1.4, unlike the earlier updates, this time I have got two reasons to update

i3theme 1.2 fails to load on ie7 while 1.4 supports it.

i3theme 1.2 doesnt show tags applied for a post while 1.4 show tags at the bottom of the post(see below).

Om Shanti Om is a love story of Om(sharukh) who takes revenge for his death(his lovers death) in his next reincarnation. Though the story of this kind is well known, the difference comes in the plot which was set on bollywood cine industry over the year 1977 and 2007 .

It was year 1977, Om, a Junior Artiste who acts in dummy roles in various movies, lives with the aspiration of becoming a superstar, falls in love with Shantipriya, a Super Heroin in bollywood. But shanti priya is in love with Mukesh Mehra. Because of their love, Shanti priya gets pregnant. But Mukesh who was in love with money more than shantipriya, plays foul & kill her. Om fails in his attempt to save shantipriya, finally dies in the hospital. At the same time of death, a baby borns in the hospital, its none other than om, and then all the story is how he takes revenge for his death in his reincarnation during his 30 i.e in the 2007.

Farah Khan joins with Shahrukh khan after "Main Hoon Na". This movie is no way lesser to Main Hoon Na, has got lots of fun, action, music, thrill and more over a fashion show of almost all bollywood celebrities you can think of, from amitaab, abhishek, hrithik, saif ali khan sanjay dutt etc to kajol, shilpa, urmila, etc.

Final verdict, just another masala mix.

The Last Legion - Movie Based on History

Before watching the movie "The Last Legion", I was in a dilemma whether I have to watch the movie or not. Its because of my unknown dizziness that builds up while watching this genre of Movies.Even for the most popular movies like braveheart, I was never been able to completely watch the movie.

But this sluggishness was not there, a day before, for the movie Elizabeth : the Golden Age. Its not that the movie is so good, Its just another average movie and it was all about the Virgin Queen Elizabeth ruled Britain on 1564. The movie was a unique experience in feeling the real effect of Dolby surround sound and the music was scored by the lady who was sitting next to me. Though I get irritated with those echoes, sad sounds that she made for each twists and turns of movie (twists were absolutely dumb), it adds beauty to movie watching experience.

Not only the background music, that makes me sit till the end of the movie, the real reason is that I was in a Cinemas. Guys, Its not like in DVD, where if you get bored, you can switch it off & play it sometimes later.

So, Fancied by the Elizabeth movie, I have decided to watch the Last Legion.
The movie takes us back to 564 AD, but the director was not successful in making the movie historically consistent. The Movie has become a complete fiction that connects the hereditary of Roman Empire with the Beginning of British Empire.
i.e., The story says that the last king of Rome, went to Brittania and founds a new empire.
The story was simple. But to tell this story, we need a Hero and Heroin. Hero is obviously we can guess, the commander of Roman Empire and the Heroin is from India, Mira (Aishwarya Rai). The Mira is (just ABCD) that she introduce herself as she was an kalari payattu expert(Seventh Grade) from Kerala, South India

I have to appreciate that the director has put the fact that Kalari payattu , the famous Martial Arts that is practised in the regions of Kerala from those olden days.
but both the terms, "Kerala" & "India" were part of 20th century and no worries, its just a fictional addition to the movie. The movie uses usual commercial formula of a normal movie and so, there was lots of holes in the screenplay.

The Final Verdict is that there was no real substance in the movie and also, its true that the movie is good for one who has never watched any history based movies.

Wordpress 2.3

Finally, Today, I find time to upgrade this site to Wordpress 2.3 which was released a week back (september 25).

In this release, Wordpress has included Tags Support. i.e, Now the user can add tags to the blogs.

For me, Categories and tags for a blog more or less the same. The difference is that tag cloud(look at the first box in right most column). The characters in the Tag cloud appears bigger as per the no. of posts have that tag. while, categories (look at the one below tag cloud), its just a list.

When I was browsing, I find tag cloud was not much helpful. May be in future, I might be able to appreciate its purpose.

As days goes by, wordpress comes up with more and more functionality and now with a threat to privacy. Slashdot has reported that wordpress spying on users. So , there is not much difference between blogger & wordpress but still, in wordpress, the owner can remove the unwanted code.

After the immediate opposition from the users, Wordpress has released a plugin that disables the functionality,

But I find the best way, is to remove the code than installing another plugin.
Following are the lines that needs to be removed from the code for this fix.

The another common issue is that every time, an admin user log into wordpress. The package was designed to make a call to Wordpress development blog and Planet News feeds. To remove this annoying blog feeds,
