Factions/Organisations

The Grimm

"The Grimm" are the magical worlds equivalent of a police force, and in a world of dangerous creatures with little mercy consiting of powerful predators "The Grimm" are an act now, ask questions later organisation.

In their opinion its always better to kill an innocent by accident than let a powerful dark wizard free on the world. Each Grimm is a master in their feild and carries artifacts of great power to help them enforce the law.

It is thought that the head of the Grimms, Freya Grynfeld carries the sword Excalibur. Also rumours persist of other legendary items.

Trollkin

In the "Dark", through a secret entrance near London Bridge is the land of Trollkin. Dark is the realm of fae creatures, and if you gain access to Dark near a bridge, especially underneath one, then you are almost certainly going to end up in Trollkin country on the otherside somewhere. The settlement of Trollkin on the otherside of London Bridge, has entrances from all over the world, such as the Golden gate. It is also the largest settlement of Trollkin, where the Troll Kings court rules over the Trollkin.

Trollkin are tall skinny cretures with long spindly arms and legs, with a small torso in the middle. Their pale greyish blue scaly skin. Known for their aggressive short temperment. Trolls are not known for killing one anohter unlike humans, it is almost completely unheard of.

Vampyrs

Vampyrs are viscious creatures that stalk the night, of little intelligence, ruled by their hunger for human blood. Most people who turn into a Vampyr lose all humanity and stable thought within days reduced to thin ravenous creatures that scuttle around in the dark. Some wizards of necromancy have been known to be able to keep their intelligence after becoming a Vampyr, but it is highly unlikely and a great risk.

Goblinkin

A squat race of humanoids, muscles layered upon muscles. These creatures have great talent for using metals in all forms. enerally looked down upon for their mercantile nature and lack of unification, always out to get one over on anyone for a buck.

Other Fae

There are other countless Fae races, many times over have they come together in one form or another, and it is hard to find pure breds of any. All fae creatures these days contain the ability to shapeshift in some form or another these days (inc Trollkin/Goblinkin).

This blog will have a scattering of topics available, but will hopefully stay focused on a few issues for most of the time. This will be a documentary about my success/failure in getting a book published. Starting from now, me writing the first few chapters, drafting characters and timelines. All the way until I can quit my monotonous job as a Data Analyst and live of the Millions of pounds brought in by book royalties. I'm sure other geeky things will be posted up to do with my private life, and that of people I know but the main aim of this, is to gain advice from the blog-o-sphere, and be able to look back at this a few years from now with a smile on my face, either from the naivety of my ambitions, or with fond memories of success. I find it highly likely to be the former, and hope it to be the latter,

The chances are that no-one will read this first post until they have found the blog a few months at least into its maturity, so thank you for coming to the top of the blog and reading from here onwards, I hope you enjoy what I have to share with the world. And look forward to receiving comments and feedback from you all.

The Book

I am looking to write a novel based in the "Urban Fantasy" genre, in a modern London setting.

Martin is an apprentice to a watch maker in London, but his master is a rune smith, and his watches can tell time across realms and planes, keeping perfect time. His clockwork machines are the best money and magic can buy. Martin has been his apprentice for three years, learning how to make clockwork machinary at its best, he is not a Runesmith. Martin is great with metals and chemicals, he specializes in Alchemy and Animation, able to make blades that slice through titanium like butter, and animate/control small clockwork machines almost like magic.

On a cloudy miserable day in April the "Grimm" (the magical world more violent and less emphatic version of a police force) come to the little watch shop in East London, looking for Martin. Apparently one of his masterwork knives was found in the body of the deceased Troll King.

In a maelstrom of secrets and lies, revealing a deeper world of magic than Martin has ever been exposed to before, will he be able to prove himself innocent before the "Grimm" catch and execute him to stop war.

<georss:box>51.3859262 -0.2840206 51.4651332 -0.1260926</georss:box>
