Croppola helps us to cut our images

2012-05-06T14:01:00.001-07:00

The process of the composition of a picture is one of the most important issues, in order to achieve exactly the photo we wanted. After all, the art of photography involves primarily the issue of the subtraction of objects; If a painter begins with a blank canvas and his art involves creating or recreate everything from scratch, as photographers, we already started with a work of art, everything that surrounds us. Our job? Find our perspective, the way in which we want to portray it, and often, this involves taking elements of composition; elements that distract and who contribute absolutely nothing to what we have. The art of the photographic composition is leaving only necessary elements, to tell our story.
And much of the composition, is to make the frame we want to. We do so perhaps not while we take the picture, but thanks to the advent of digital photography, we can change the framing. In other words, the elements that are more cut the photo. This is the "cropping".
Now, as mentioned at the beginning, the idea of crop a picture to change the frame is fairly subjective; everyone always sees something different, or want to point out something different. But there are rules, like the rule of thirds, the Golden Ratio, we learn along the way, enough serving to help us discern what, exactly, what makes a photograph good.

Croppola is a web tool that, using some algorithms, considers the elements of the photo, and gives suggestions on how we should cut the picture to, perhaps, to give greater emphasis to subjects that are in this. And frankly, it does a very good job. Croppola adequately identifies the most important element of the photo and tries to crop the picture so that the element stands out more.
And even offers alternatives of dimensions, if we want a photo in square format (perfect for instagram or any of these Services similar), a widescreen picture, and even the ideal size for a cover on Facebook.
As a simple tool to make cuts, it works pretty well, and it can serve as a kind of quick lesson so that, in the future, we do it ourselves (after all, even simpler photo editing program has Tools to crop pictures).

Play this: Clear Vision Saga [Sniper games]

2012-05-06T13:48:00.001-07:00

Clear Vision has become quite popular among the games created in Flash. The premise is simple: we are snipers, law enforcement to carry out missions of murder of various individuals.
throughout the game, we will be winning money, which will lead to the possibility of buying best sniper rifles. The interesting thing about Clear Vision, in comparison to other similar games, is that it is telling a story. Simple, of course (can not expect much in games of no more than 30 minutes with a mechanic that is repeated throughout the series), but give more "depth" to the gameplay.

Another element that I always liked in the series, is between missions, we have the possibility to rest at home. And something that adds a new level of immersion to the game, is that between missions, we will get a newspaper that, of course, shows us the news of the murder that we commit.

They are these small elements, together with the System of weapons, Clear Vision that make one of the most entertaining sagas Kongregate to find updates . I then turn to link all the games available to date. It is good idea to start in order, since, as I said at the beginning, there is a story behind everything:
By the way, there is also a fun super version in iOS: Clear Vision (free) and Clear Vision (17 +) ($ 0.99)

2012-05-06T13:43:00.001-07:00

Apparently today companies decided open the wallet and is two purchases are playing much online. The first is the popular social network LinkedIn to search for employment or so companies know about you. Apparently they liked the presentation service Slideshare, well-known among bloggers because it is the platform of choice for sharing presentations.

The idea of LinkedIn with is acquisition is to give a bonus to the profiles of professionals on LinkedIn where you can add presentations. Imagine that they are teachers of history in your LinkedIn profile will add where studied, his Awards, your skills, your experience... but many times all that is not enough already with a presentation of their work they do will give that little push to them to lack and thus get the job they want.

The data of the two websites are, Slideshare has 29 million visits a month and about 9 million documents in its database. The company that is originally from the India already has its offices in San Francisco, where 55 people work. While LinkedIn with its 161 thousand registered members and 107 thousand visitors a month make a good combination.

You can see the presentation of LinkedIn by welcoming to Slideshare from here.

While another company also went shopping, because according to The New York Times television Discovery Channel would close negotiations with Revision3 a producer of shows that are exclusively transmitted by internet.Revision3 are responsible for producing shows like Diggnation, Lifehacker, GeeBeat.tv among others. Of Wayra we talked enough. It is, after all, one of the largest accelerator of Latin America. And today, Telefónica announced the second call to Wayra.

Wayra, as mentioned in the article original in September, when the process started:

Convert your photos into 3D models with Autodesk 123D Catch [Windows]

2012-05-06T13:29:00.001-07:00

The family of Autodesk 123D applications have a clear purpose: bring us the world of modeling and creation of figures in 3D, the easiest way possible. With the popularity that are getting the 3D printers (soon to be quite common in households, if prices continue decline dramatically), that allow us to print sculptures based on 3D models, have a basic knowledge of the subject, or at least Tools like which provides us with AutoDesk, will open us a world of possibilities.

Already we have seen 123D, the program allows us to create models from 0. Autodesk has also 123D Sculpt, simple program for the iPad to sculpt. Today, we will see to Catch 123D,

123D Catch is perhaps the easiest of all the family of 123D option. It allows us to take a series of pictures of the object we want to model (from all angles), send it to AutoDesk, and in minutes, receive our 3D model.

The program works extremely well in quick tests I did (with a point & shoot, no more and no less). The process of rendering occurs on the servers of Autodesk, we have the advantage of not needing a super computer to process pictures and create the model. But on the other hand, if they have a supercomputer, waiting to upload the photos, and expect the process, when it might have been made on the PC, is somewhat uncomfortable.

Once finished the process, will receive a file, we can then export as .obg or .dwg to other applications, or even share it via YouTube. Autodesk offers a large number of tutorials (here) for the program. But the most important of all, to get a functional model, is that we will see below, how to photograph the object:

Basically, we need to capture an object which is neither brilliant nor transparent. And after selecting the model that we will create, we have to photograph it from various angles. If it's a room, we must maintain a "overlap" between pictures (part of the previous photo appearing in the new) so that the program can understand the sequence:

It sounds complicated, but once grab you the trick, will be generating 3D models of their objects favorite in little time. The program is extremely fun, and a great way to start in the world of modeling in 3D in the easiest way. All they need is some time, a camera, and an interesting object!

Link

If you are ready to create a model from scratch, I recommend also to review the main application, 123D, also free.

Tomahawk, music player for music in Spotify, Youtube, Grooveshark and Soundcloud

2012-05-06T13:25:00.001-07:00

Tomahawk at first glance seems a music player normal, with a design very similar to iTunes or Songbird the unnoticed goes to everyone, but how great this player apart from scan all your computer looking for your music that you have, it is also looking for music from the web feed of pages such as Grooveshark, Soundcloud, Spotify, Youtube among others.

Tomahawk has something called Resolvers which allows you to connect to the player with any of these services. So you'll always have the music look to the hand, eye service does not search for any video that you are looking for a specific bitrate to be played, that makes that many issues are not. Another problem I saw is that to use Spotify or Grooveshark you need a premium account, despite that, so I was using with Youtube and Soundcloud and works very well.

It is as well as Tomahawk becomes a single playerwithout the need for different services be opening and thus get a service to another without problems.

Be grateful that the application is available in various both for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems , also has integration to social networks where you can share what they hear.

You can create a playlist of different services, to add items, you are simply looking for the song and we drag the item to the playlist you created, also can get the link of the item if you want to share.

The service works very simple and as an interface is very familiar not we take time in getting to us.

How to make more accessible USB ports from an iMac

2012-05-06T13:12:00.001-07:00

The iMac is great; by far the best All in One that I have had in a long time, thanks to its good blend of performance, excellent screen (with excellent resolution), design, and even price. However, USB ports which has are sometimes difficult to achieve, since they are in the rear of the chassis. Worse when we connected also to a secondary monitor: reach the ports there is something quite complicated.

Personally, what I have done is to buy a "powered USB hub", a USB Hub that is connected to electricity, allowing to connect devices that need to be loaded (smartphones, for example) and will also receive current.

What Sugru proposes, however, is also interesting:

Using PuTTY (is what sells sugru, after all), in conjunction with magnets (magnets) and an extension cord, it is possible to create a sort of extension for a USB port, putting him within easy reach, when we want to connect a USB Drive, for example. And to be hidden behind, is not so bad.

It Claro, is a solution more complicated than simply connect a powered USB Hub, but a it is worth considering.

Super Nintendo Revolution, bringing to the SNES's back, in the form of prototype.

2012-05-06T13:07:00.000-07:00

Does Ah, let's who would not like to see something like the above? He is a concept art with the idea to revive the Super Nintendo in all its glory, but with current devices to make it more practical, but not both.

By "not so much", I mean that maintains the aspect of the classic Super Nintendo in this Super Nintendo Revolution, no doubt for nostalgic reasons, since all the hardware of the original SNES probably cabería in one of the controls.

And speaking of controls, they are not great? Identical to the classics only to wireless. Do in games, the graph refers to the possibility of downloading from the nintendo page, but hey, since the Wii, 3DS and in the future, the Wii U, have access to the eShop / Wii Store, would not be feasible to leave this SNES to connect to the web?

But well, for pleasure we spend discussing features of a console that, unfortunately, will not exist ever. Simply, it's a concept. Meanwhile, however, will have to remain content with emulators / Wiis hacked, and converted to USB SNES controls.

Amazon Cloud Drive, now with application for Windows / Mac

2012-05-06T12:53:00.002-07:00

Tell "do other more?" - as I initially responded to hear the news - first must explain the differences: is not a service similar to Dropbox, Google Drive, Skydrive or Cubby (which compared here), but rather, a quick access to be able to "shed" files to the Amazon Cloud. So, there is no local synchronization , so imagine what more as a service to the Box.net, which has an application desktop for quick access, or something like Cloudapp, multiplatform

In fact, Amazon offered this service for quite some time; We could copy files such as music or photos, and keep them online. It even allows us to play the songs from the web interface . The music you buy on Amazon (if you have enabled the option of buying music) also can be stored in this Cloud Drive.
With Amazon we have, by default, 5 free GBs of storage, and the table above gives us an idea of what these 5 GBs can be accommodated.
Honestly, no I see useful service unless they already have the possibility of buying files from Amazon. And if they got the 50 GBs of Box.net, this another service is a better "locker" without synchronization. Otherwise, any alternative with the "magic folder", which allows us to synchronize files locally and in the cloud (such as Skydrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.), still find me a better option.

Include some popular, such as Calibri and Cambria (used in Windows) sources, Ubuntu, Droid Sans (used in Android), among others. It is strange that Roboto, the source used on Android 4.0, is not in the package. These new sources are attached to existing ones (Arial, Verdana, Trebuchet, Courier, Comic Sans). To add sources, we are simply going to the selection of typography, and then go to "Add Font".

60 templates-Together with the sources, have 60 new templates produced by Google Docs (under new / from template or "New / From Template"). The templates give us pre-creados documents, which you can modify to taste. Do you need to create a newsletter? Or perhaps create a recipe for print? Are thinking to make a CV? With templates, creating this type of document is easier.

Wappwolf, another way to automate tasks with Dropbox and Google Drive

2012-05-06T12:40:00.002-07:00

We have already seen the excellent Ifttt (article here: Tutorial: If This, Then That: forcing the web to work for us) as a way of mixing various functions of different web applications with others. Do you need to send Facebook photos to Flickr automatically? Create a backup of photos of Instagram at Dropbox just we raise? Can add Twitter Favorites to Instagram? All this is possible with Ifttt.
Recently came to my attention Wappwolf, which presents a similar idea (automate tasks), but all centered on a main tool: Dropbox or Google Drive.
In fact, Wappwolf existed in the past and her cover at the end of the year. Only that at the time, it was called Dropbox Automator, and carried out fewer tasks (here the original article)
The idea behind Wappwolf is to allow us to automate tasks based on folders that use, with support both for Google Drive, as for Dropbox (and a future, Box.net and Skydrive).
Example: we have a folder called PDF2TXT. Every time we arrojemos a file in PDF format to that folder, Wappwolf her identify and convert PDF files to text:

What can you do?
We have a variety of options. Among them:
automatically convert files to Kindle format
Change of size pictures, add text, and other types of modification. Upload these photos from Picasa, Facebook, Google +, and more.Convert an audio format to another.Upload documents to Google Docsautomatically send file to Kindle, sign PDFsComprimir files, send them by email, send to Evernote, save them to another folder, and much more.
Once we create some automations with Google Drive or Dropbox, Wappwolf help greatly in our productivity, automate common tasks.
Eye: there is a limit of 25 MBs per file
The process of creating automations is super simple. Once identified Dropbox or Google Drive with Wappwolf, choose a folder to use. Instead of using multiple folders, I recommend you use a parent folder (called Automator, or Wappwolf, or whatever you wish).
Within this folder, you can create a sub-folder. If you want to automate uploads of photos on Facebook, for example, create a subfolder called "Facebook". Here they simply throw the files that want to synchronize to their Facebook profiles, and everytime they have photos to upload, rather than opening the browser, log on to Facebook, go to upload photos, simply throw them in the folder created and ready!
We will soon post more useful examples.
