PeekPocket 1.6

PeekPocket is a free WiFi scanner application for Windows Mobile PocketPC devices. It detects and lists nearby WiFi access points. It can be useful when you are setting up a WiFi network, or when you are on the go and want to see if there are nearby Access Points.

The current version is final aims two main goals: it is absolutely free of charge and it is an easy-to-use WiFi scanner for PDAs.

How to use

Just unzip and run on your PDA. No installation required.

Don't forget to turn your WLAN on before you launch PeekPocket. You will hear a sound when an AP is found - there are different sounds for open and secure APs. Tap AP names to access graph and large mode. Use options to select filters/language etc.

Upon exit, you will find a text file called PeekPocket.txt. It's a tabbed text document with saved AP infos. Simply open with Word Mobile, select all, then copy to Excel and you have a nice scrollable formatted list.

PocketMusic version 5.3.5

MP3 players for the Pocket PC start up, and are very similar: almost simultaneously with WinamPAQ a new rival comes to complete the features of the built-in Windows Media Player: PocketMusic.

Two of the advantages compared to the program we all have in the ROM are the better support for non-standard MP3 files and an equalizer.
The interface is skinnable, none of the basic functions are missing, like playlist management.

The commercial version has some nice extras (support for WinAMP skins, equalizer presets, MP3 file editing, better playlist manager, but it's up to you to decide whether it's worth paying for it or not).

But all in all, even though you could pay to get more, all the functions that the free version offers are sufficient for the basic usage and it's an easy-to-use program.

The software itself has seen much improvement since the version 1.0 and the bugs have been fixed. Nice work in some hundreds kB.

Notes: Still freeware for MP3 files, it's a pity you will have to buy the full version to get Ogg and WMA support!

EasyCalc is a quite known scientific graphing calculator for PalmOS devices, and is now available on Pocket PCs (WM5 and WM6, ARM/XScale only for now, some function limitations in 1.25a).

It has the ease-of-use of the built-in OS calculators, but adds all the features of a top-of-the-line (TI-89, HP-49) scientific graphing calculator except CAS (computer algebra system) and programming (although user defined functions are possible).
