Who honestly likes Twitter?

I originally had a different post ready to make about Twitter, and the title was “What’s the Big Deal with Twitter?”

Fortunately, I decided to do a search for that sentence first. I was amazed at how many results I received from that!

So I took it a step further and searched for:
“Why is Twitter so popular?”
“Twitter is Stupid”

And last but not least, “Twitter is Dumb”

It is AMAZING at how many other people online have the same thoughts as I do. There are dozens, if not hundreds of posts/topics that include these sentences!

So why does the majority of Internet Users think that Twitter is so great or special? Why is always advertised all over the television, radio and internet?

At least with Facebook and Myspace, there are so many more things to! You have applications, tags… you have FUN.

What is FUN about twitter?

“I am scratching my nose”

“I am surfing the internet”

“I am sitting here drinking a glass of coca cola”

“I am walking out of my house”

“I am getting into my car”

“I am on my way to the Grocery Store”

SO? There are so many things I can be doing INSTEAD of just telling people what I am doing every hour!

Daily Nutritional Values

You DO have to read the Nutritional Value on anything and everything that you eat. You want to keep your Saturated Fat below 10 grams a day and your Cholesterol below 100 mg a day if you want to drop your Cholesterol Level QUICKLY.

If your Cholesterol is not that high, or you are in no hurry to drop your bad Cholesterol Levels, then follow the Nutritional Value Chart listed on most food items. (Which usually states: Saturated Fat 20-25 grams a day and Cholesterol 300 mg a day)

Myth: Caffeine During Pregnancy

Myth: Drinking Caffeine during Pregnancy will cause you to have a hyper active child.

During my first pregnancy, I believed this and stopped drinking all caffeine products immediately. I did not have caffeine again until after I gave birth to my child.

However, with my 2nd and 3rd pregnancies, I really questioned this myth and did not stop drinking caffeine products.

All of my children are healthy and not one of them are overly hyper, or suffer from any Hyper Activity disorder at all.

I am not sure where this myth originated from or how many studies were performed on pregnant women before people started spreading this rumor; but as far as I’m concerned, it is nothing more than a myth.

Ha Ha. No where on this blog have I listed an Affiliate Program, nor have I listed any Money Making Sites or Programs.

I did do a REVIEW on SFI - The post below this one - But as you can clearly see, I do not recommend it to anyone. (Read the post…. Really)

So why would a website representative read one title of one post and assume that you are doing something else other than what you are really doing?

I am trying to help others with my Reviews on Products, Services and Websites. And hopefully spread the word about the good things out there, and warn people about the “not so great” things out there.

It is sites that this (BlogExplosion) that disgusts me.

So if you are looking for Blog Directories or a place to submit your site, beware of this one! Your site will only be partially reviewed.

Update August 5, 2009: I contacted them via their website and received a reply within 2 days. A different reviewer visited my blog, and actually took the time to browse through.

So I guess like many (or most) other sites online, there's atleast one rotten apple.

Review: SFI Affiliate Program

I had joined SFI a few years ago, and stuck with it for a year or more. They suck you in by advertising that it is free to join and you can recruit others and make money from your downline.

What they don’t tell you until after you signed up, is that you must be become a Paid Member in order to earn from your downline, which at the time was $20 a month (It could have gone up by now).

I do not like programs like this. Programs that lead you to believe something, only to discover otherwise once you are a member and can then read the fine print.

And if you do want to make more than $20 a month from SFI, it takes many more hours per week to do it than what many will tell you. The hours per week that one will invest attempting to earn a descent amount of money is not worth it.

DirecTV VS Dish Network

I used Dish Network for nearly 10 years, and just last year switched to DirecTV.

There are a lot of similarities, as far as what they have to offer, etc.

But there is one big difference that really makes me like DirecTV much more than Dish Network. That is because you do not lose your signal when clouds roll by!

We were use to it with Dish Network, if we heard thunder and/or it looked cloudy outside, we knew we would not be able to watch TV. It didn’t have to rain or lightning. Which really sucked because if it was cloudy for a week or two and you didn’t have a signal 95% of the time, you still have to pay for the full month.

When we switched to DirecTV, the first few times it was cloudy we were expecting to lose the signal, but didn’t and we were so impressed! As long as we have been with them (nearly a year), we have only lost the signal maybe 2 or 3 times, and that was when it was really bad weather (tornado weather).

Hope this helps anyone who is trying to decide between the two of them.

Previously, I had made a post about Avon Products. I use to sell Avon many years ago, and even after I stopped selling it, I continued to use avon products. Not only do I use the personal hygene products, but I also shop the brochures for gifts. (Birthday Gifts, Easter Gifts, Valentines Day Gifts, Christmas Gifts, and much more!)

So recently I decided to start selling Avon again! Yipee! I get my items at a discount price now! :) ;)

But other than the discounts, let me tell you my 2 favorite things about Avon.

Hughes Net and Wild Blue Satellite Internet

I posted this at a previous blog last year, but I just want every one to know about these services:

Now that I have been with Hughes Net Satellite Internet for a week, I can give a further review of their service.

Like WildBlue Satellite Internet Service, they have a limit on the amount of MB that you can use. But with Hughes Net Satellite it is a daily limit of 200 MB.

Now I am going to back track. Although I knew that I was exceeding my limit with Wild Blue Internet Service, I did not know by how much or any details. They did not give me a link to go check my usage, etc.

When I let WildBlue go and went back to dial up, I still had no idea how many MB I was using a day, a month, etc.

Now, with Hughes Net Satellite Internet Service, they give you a link where you can go check all of your information, including keeping an hour by hour report of your MB’s used.

My son logged into myspace, checked his messages on myspace, and listened to about 4 songs.

I checked the MB’s used after he done these few things, it was 60+ MB’s used.

Needless to say, as much as I do online, I am exceeding my limit every day within 2-3 hours.

For those of you who do not know what happens when you exceed your limit - the internet basically is shut off. You may can get your default home page to load if your lucky, but you can do basically nothing else.

I am glad that they have a 30 day no cancellation fee, because first thing Monday I am going to cancel their service.

Well I have learned my lesson. Satellite Internet Services charge $50+ a month and limit your usage to a ridiculously low amount.

With DSL, you are not limited. But Satellite Internet Services know that you are not capable of getting DSL if you are calling them in the first place. So they are going to take advantage of you. DSL - unlimited you can get now a days for $20-$40 a month. I will be so glad when DSL becomes available in my area. Until then, I may have low dial up service, but atleast I am not shut off after just a couple of hours.

UPDATE March 2009: I did cancel my membership (with Hughes Net) within the 30 day time limit, yet they are still trying to charge me even though they claim there will be no fees if you cancel within 30 days. They have turned it over to their "collector"

I do not recommend Satellite Internet for anyone. If DSL is not available in your area, just keep calling, asking and aggravating them (who ever you like best for DSL) until it does become available.

It is such a pity that businesses like Wild Blue and Hughes Net even exist to rip people off.

Avon Products

Heads up - I will not be leading you to an Avon Representative, you will have to find one of your own. :)

I began using some avon products about 5-10 years ago. When most people hear the word “Avon” they automatically think of nothing but make-up and other “girly” type products. They just do not know how wrong they are.

There are many things that I order from my Avon Representative for gifts. Birthday Gifts for my children and others, Christmas Gifts, and more. I have purchased mens gifts, toys, clothes, movies, watches, figurines (collectibles), and so much more.

I also get my deodorant and hair brushes from Avon. I love the smell of the deodorant, and you can’t beat the prices (.99 most times). And the flair style hair brush, in my opinion, is the best hair brush on the market (not too hard, too soft, or too large, etc.).

Aside from the regular brochure, there is also the Outlet; which lists items at clearance prices, and The Inspirational; which has Religious and Christian items.

If you haven’t seen an avon book in years, or have never seen one at all (then you are a male… lol .. Just kidding) :) then you should really search for a local Avon Representative and at least browse a bit. You just may be surprised.

Blogs (General)

I love to visit other blogs. I like to see what others have to say, and when possible, make comments on some things that I can agree with.

But one thing that really frustrates me when I am “blog hunting,” is the some of the slooooww loading blogs.

Granted, I am on dial up. But many blogs have too many pictures, too many icons, too much junk in general. I just can not spend so much time on one site, or else I wouldn’t be able to visit but maybe 4 sites a day total!

I wish people would really think about this. I know lots of people think it makes the blog cute or flashy. And, perhaps those with satellite internet have no complaints, but for dial up users, it’s nothing less than aggravating. So I’ve learned that if a page doesn’t load in 20 seconds, I exit it and find another blog to visit.

Hopefully this post will come in handy to some people, it could be the reason that you do not comments on your posts, etc.

I know that I will limit the amount of stuff that I have on my blog.

I was very hesitant to join this new program. Although it didn’t seem as hard to get into as most other paid to post, paid to blog or paid to review sites, it just seemed a little fishy to me at first.

After days of debating on it, I finally decided to give it a try.
Question: How do you spell S-T-R-E-S-S?
Answer: SOCIALSPARK!

First of all, they ask you a million questions upon signing up, including your shoe size, shirt size, and other questions which made me feel quite uncomfortable. I mean if any of the Advertisers are going to send me any free stuff to try, once I was a member, they could have given me the option of giving these Companies/Businesses my personal info. But instead, it is mandatory in the sign up process.

Once you do get to the point where you get to add your blog, you must claim your blog, install the ITK code and then wait for further approval. The claiming of the blog is pretty quick and easy. After adding the little code on your site, their site automatically picks up on it and your free to go to the next step.

Installing the ITK code is not that simple. It says to add it and click refresh until it goes from the red circle x to the green check mark. I put the code on my site, I clicked refresh, still a red x. I moved the code around my site, several different places, and after each time I would click “refresh” on their little page and would continue to get the red x. It was not recognizing it on my page at all.

I submitted a help ticket, asking questions, trying to get assistance. Nothing, no response.

When you first join, one of the people who runs the site is automatically added to your friends list, being I was getting nowhere with Support Ticket, I messaged him in hopes of getting a response. Nothing, no message, no email, no help.

I proceeded on to doing research online for SocialSpark and the code, etc. I did finally come across one website where the author claimed that it took days for SocialSpark to recognize the code on his site. What?!?! This says keep clicking refresh until it changes. So I am suppose to do nothing else but sit in front of my computer for 3+ days clicking refresh until it finally accepts? I don’t think so. They should specify that it is not immediate, that it can or will take DAYS to show up (and not seconds, minutes, or hours; as they lead you to believe)

What are two qualities that you want out of any business or any type of entity that you deal with? Honesty and Professionalism. This site has neither.

Not only does it take several days for the ITK to “appear” on your blog, according to them, but then it takes several more days to find out if your blog is approved or rejected.
Many people are rejected for very stupid reasons.

This gets a huge thumbs down from me. If you would like to try it, go ahead, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Anyone who has had any good experiences with similar type sites or have any sites to recommend, please feel free to leave a comment about it.

Entrecard

This site can never seem to get their stuff together. I do not know if they do not have enough volunteers working for this site or if they have plenty (but just perhaps morons)

When I first signed up with them last, I had many problems. They had an extremely slow website and my credits disappeared for no reason. They were nice enough to return my credits, but the site did not get any faster. I finally got tired of struggling with their slow loading site and pages, and gave up on them.

After getting active in this current blog, I noticed that entrecard has been making some changes (such as the marketplace). I have seen blog posts about entrecard elsewhere on the web. I thought I would check and see if my account was still active, or perhaps had been suspended or deleted due to inactivity.

Surprisingly enough, my account was still active. However, the blog that was listed with them is a blog that I no longer use. I added my new blog and immediately it said awaiting for approval. I tried to figure out how to delete my old blog and use only this new one, but they do not have that option anywhere.

So, I submitted a support ticket. I explained the situation perfectly. I stated that I want my new blog (and I put the url) to be the one and only active blog. I stated that I no longer use the older blog (and I put the url) and that I wish for it to be deleted.

Now, any normal person can follow most requests. This is something we start learning at a very young age when we begin school.

HOWEVER, this is what they did:

They deleted my old blog, before approving my new blog. So once they deleted my one and only active blog, that managed to delete my account.

Hours later I received an email saying Congrats my new blog had been approved. However, I was unable to log in, it said email address not found. Yet, it would not let me create a new account with my new blog either, because it said blog was already in use.

What moron would do this? Surely they would have known to first approve my new blog before deleting the old one (which in turn deleted my account totally… with 1600+ credits)

I have emailed them several times. I have received a couple of responses, which leads me to believe they are scratching their heads in confusion. C’mon! How hard could this have been?

Valentines Day Teddy Bear

Valentines Day is approaching! (Actually less than 24 hours away from now)

As we were watching television the other night, a commercial came on that caught my attention. First of all, I had forgotten about Valentines Day, so it was actually a good reminder.

But on the other hand, as I watched this commercial advertising that men should buy their loved ones this Teddy Bear (Vermont Teddy Bear), which they compare as the same price as a dozen of roses (price shown was $79) I thought I was going to fall out of my chair.

I can promise you this much, if my husband bought me a $79 teddy bear, he better run. I don’t care where this teddy bear came from, what it’s made out of, or any other details.
There are so many things I (and I’m pretty sure most other adult women) would prefer over a teddy bear.

And in reality, being I am more the conservative type, I usually request that he not spend more than $25 on me for occasions such as Valentines Day.

I had seen the commercial for the Ped Egg advertised for many months last year, and usually several times a day.

Although it had a cheap price, I am just not the kind of person that buys for myself (usually). So, I told my husband that if he wanted, he could get me one for Christmas.

Christmas night was the first time that I used my gift, my new Ped Egg. So, this is my personal feelings on this product: If you have a cheese grater and a piece of sand paper, you can do for yourself what this product does for you.

The scrubbing, cheese like grater, digs holes into your skin. The foot file (similar to a thick emery board, which I compare to sand paper) will help makes those holes (chunks of missing skin that looks as if you had skidded barefoot on millions of pieces of glass) be virtually invisible.

So, save your $10-$12 and use your own items that you have at home to do this job!

Tips To Have A Successful Rummage Sale

Over the years, I have had much experience with Rummage Sales. As a teenager, my mother owned a Flea Market. But, before she opened her Flea Market, she started with Rummage Sales. It was the success of her Rummage Sales ($600-$2000+ a weekend) that led her to opening a Flea Market.

Although for many years, I was never interested in the Rummage Sale scene, eventually I changed my mind. Below I have listed some helpful tips to a successful Rummage.

1. Advertise in all of your local newspapers.
If you only have one local paper, that is fine. But if you have more than one, advertise in them all, or all of the ones that you can afford. This will help you reach a broader audience.

2. Put up Fliers
At stores, businesses, bulletin boards, any place that will allow you to do so. Don’t make the mistake of limiting yourself to a one mile radius of your home. Go as far as you’d like! Many people will drive 10-20 miles for good Rummage Sales.

3. Spread the word IN ADVANCE
Tell all of your family and friends at least one week in advance. Also, be sure to tell your co-workers, church family/friends, and any others that you engage in conversation with.

4. Anyone else want to join?
While spreading the word, see if any one is interested in selling any of their items. If they do, there are a couple of different ways that you could do this. Either they can choose to pitch in on the advertising costs, be there to sell their own items, and keep 100% of their sales… OR, If they do not want to pitch in on advertising costs or be there to sell, you can sell their items for them and keep 20% of the sales (you make a commissions) and give them 80%. If you can get others to join in on your Rummage Sale, this will magnify your advertisements (word of mouth), because they will tell everyone that they know, as they also want to make sales and $$

5. Price your items to MOVE
No one likes a Rummage Sale where all or most of the items are way over priced. When people think of Rummage Sales, they are thinking cheap, low cost. You generally will not get retail prices for items, even if they are brand new. So unless you want to keep it for yourself, or do not care if it sells or not, price it low and move it out.

Triond vs Hubpages

Recently, I joined hubpages, thinking that I could make a little money per month with them. Either I do not know what I am doing, or Google Adsense hates me. I have made nothing, not 1 cent through Adsense on hubpages.

Amazon approved me for affiliate, but I’ve received nothing with them either.

Ebay rejected me as an affiliate. What? I know that sounds strange. I have a good reputation with them, still have an account, use to buy and sell, no negative feedback or anything. Makes you wonder who they put in charge of approving and rejecting the affiliates?

Anyway, you may think, “Well, you have only been a member of hubpages a month or less, or you only have 5 hubs, or you’ve only had 100 total page views…”

BUT… with Triond, you are paid .01 for every 5-10 page views. And with hubpages, 100 page views and 0? It just doesn’t sound right to me.

Anyone who has not tried Triond, try it! And if you do, be sure to add me as a friend.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. All of the posts here are orginal. My Reviews that I will be doing will all be 100% honest. Review - Sunsilk Shampoo

As a child, I used what ever types of shampoo that my parents bought. As a teenager, I started trying different shampoo’s, trying to find the one that would work best for me.

I have wavy hair and it has a tendency to want to frizz, so keeping it under control can sometimes be stressful. I went through many shampoo’s; pert, prell, VO5, just to name a few. I would not just try it for a day or two and move on, I would use most to all of the bottle before moving on to another.

It probably took a minimum of a year for me to get around to Salon Selectives; that finally worked for me. I used Salon Selectives for at least 10 years.

When Sunsilk came out, I received a sample in the mail and I was impressed. I purchased a bottle, and my entire family wanted to use it. Previous to that, we had all used different brands of shampoo, because we had different hair needs and Salon Selectives didn’t work for the rest of my family (even purchasing the type for their hair). So now, we purchase only Sunsilk - 2 different types, one bottle of Sunsilk for the Anti-frizz - and one bottle for fine hair. I even love the smell of this shampoo, which is something else that is difficult for me to find. (Example: I can not smell the smell of redkin shampoo; it makes me literally sick to my stomach)

Anyone who has not tried Sunsilk, at least give it a try! It is reasonably priced as compared to other shampoo’s, and you will have nothing to lose!

Talking To You Teens About Drugs

Drug Use and Drug Abuse has become more common over the years. Drugs find their way into our Country, into our states, into our cities, into our schools, and eventually into the hands of children and/or teens.

We see the commercials on television, and we get pamplets from school, all stressing that we take the time to talk to our children about Drugs. But how many parents actually do it? How many depend on the schools to teach our children about Drugs? How many just say, “Don’t do it!” and leave it at that?

The children and teens need a little more information than that. They need to know how drugs can affect them health wise, mentally, physically and emotionally.

Explain the damage that drugs can and will do to the human brain and other parts of the body. Yes, Drugs really do fry the brain, by attacking and destroying brain cells. They also can affect the central nervous system and many other parts of the body. Lack of proper brain functioning can lead to many accidents, including but not limited to; car wrecks, violence, and over dose. Once a person is addicted, they need more and more, and eventually many accidently overdose.

Explain the other problems it can cause in a persons life. Drug users get hooked and will spend every dime they have on buying them, neglecting every thing else in life. Thus, they form a bad reputation for themselves as being unreliable, untrustworthy, and many other negative things will be said of them. Many drug users can not get or keep a job, and must start stealing to support their habit. Even past drug users who decide to go clean will take a life time rebuilding their reputation.

Explain the problems it can and will cause amongst family members and friends, the heartaches it can cause. Drugs usually cause individuals to be aggressive and irritable, and few people care to be around them. It makes it difficult to have any type of relationship with someone in this state of mind. Eventually, violence or stealing will cause them to be imprisoned.

This is just a few of the negative points of Drug usage. If you are unsure of the many damages that drugs can cause, there are many resources available for parents online and in the library. Books and DVD’s can sometimes explain it better than we can.

It is so much worth it to go that extra mile to teach your children about Drugs. A one to two minute speech just isn’t going to stay with them long. Take those extra steps, because after all, this is a human life we are talking about.
