Why safe workplace for women is a myth and will remain so.

Headlines about sexual harassment at workplace are in the limelight lately. But, sexual harassment in the workplace is not new and is rampant everywhere. Safe workplace for women is a myth and going to remain so. Before all you HRs start barging in justifying how efforts are made to create a safer workplace for women or how fantastic your workplace is when it comes to women safety. Please read through.

Almost 69% women do not report sexual harassment at work. Understandably so, because some of these behaviors seem to be harmless and are deemed normal, and most women don't know how to deal with it even if it makes us uncomfortable.

The unwanted attention someone showers at you, a colleague stopping by your desk all the time for a small conversation ( which you clearly don't want to have), someone asking you for a coffee break all the time in the company canteen specially when you are alone, you being called 'baby' ' sweety', clients calling a female sales representative for a meeting because they are 'female', those uncomfortable stares. There are numerous ramifications of harassment at workplace, it is not always "physical" or clearly "verbal". In such cases what do you report? Who do you report to?

And this is not going to change because as a culture a "little flirting" has been normalized. He has just asked you out for coffee you know you got to network, your boss calls you sweety, he is a friendly boss so on and so forth. But the problem is graver than you think because as a society we have been told if you step out into the world this is bound to happen, and we should learn to 'deal with it'. So you see this is not a workplace problem. This is a cultural issue of our society. Because people you deal with in workplace will not magically change their behavior or start believing that a certain behavior is NOT OK because it's an office. And, this cultural shift is going to take I don't know how many years or decades or centuries and celebrating "women's day" once a year is not going to solve the issue.

And, we cannot wait for a 'godmother' to wave her magical wand and change the society. So, the only way out is we should take charge.

Now, a colleague you are 'comfortable' with asking you out for a coffee or stopping by your desk to have conversations is normal but the operational phrase here being someone 'you are comfortable with'. Just because you are friendly with one does not means you would want to be friendly with everyone. And, as cliched it may sound 'it is your choice'

So ladies, please don't 'deal with it' because it's bound to happen CALL IT OUT. You don't like to be called 'sweety' make it known. You don't like a certain colleague's unwanted attention or small talks 'tell them so' you don't like someone commenting how pretty you are every day 'say so', you know the 'business meetings' mean no business, don't take them. Be firm, be clear. Anything that is making you 'uncomfortable' is NOT OK.

So, whether cultural change happens today, tomorrow or decades later you ought to take action now. Be vocal, be bold.

You are your own CEO

How often have you thought that it would have been a great Idea to leave your job and try out entrepreneurship? Quite often I guess. Sounds like an exciting Idea. Now Imagine getting to be a CEO every single day. Often we forget that we are responsible for creating the brand that is us. Every single day we have to manage the business that is "us" just like any entrepreneur would do.

So how do we do that?

1) Create Brand "you"

Every individual is unique, so are you. There must be one quality / skill of yours which you use and count on more than any other. You might be creative or analytical or might have excellent negotiation skills. Find that USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of yours and work on that.

2) Have a long term vision for the brand "you"

What do you want to achieve in the larger scheme of life. Do you want to be an entrepreneur, social worker, a successful marketing person, an author, teacher etc. it might be anything but you need to understand yourself and have a long term vision for yourself. Basis your vision you have to inculcate the right skills, meet the right people, learn more and work towards the vision.

3) Invest right

Basis your long term vision you have to map the ROI of your investments; not just monetary it can be in terms of

Time (it's the most important investment)

Make sure you invest your time well and on things which helps in creating 'brand you" enriches you.

What is the ROI of the time you are spending on any activity?

The course you took - Is it helping you to grow professionally, the book you read - is it an enriching experience, the hobby you are pursuing - is it helping you to refresh, have a balanced life. You have to invest your time very smartly and productively.

Emotional well being -

Make sure you invest in the right people (friends, family, colleagues etc) people who do not drain away your positive look out and energy unnecessarily. Even if you have to deal with such people, you have to know how do you not let them effect your mental well being. Do activities which helps you to have a positive look out towards life and your self.

3) Diversify and be up to date

Knowing what is happening around the world and even more so in your area of interest - professional and personal is always important. It not only enables you to achieve more and makes you more confident but also establishes you as a thought leader.

Whether you run a business or not you can always become a CEO. SO, be your own CEO.

Any work of art be it poetry, painting, music etc is a responsibility to be true to yourself and to the society.

Poetry even more so, because it has the capability to touch the rusted chords of your hearts and evoke emotions, inspire or show the mirror to the society. Poetry acts as a powerful tool to draw attention to issues faced by the society which are often ignored or talked about in hushed tones and start a conversation to bring about change. Poetry acts as a catalyst of change and will keep doing so for ages to come.

When we, the mortals of one generation are no longer there, our poetry will still be there as a testimony of the society we belonged to.Condemning everything that was wrong with it hoping that the same mistake are not taken forward for the next generations to suffer.

Darwin said the fittest will survive.

Do you know how it feels
to know that may be you are not the fittest
May be you won't survive
How it feels to be lost in the jungle of your own thoughts
Which are sometimes dark and sometimes run wild.

But do you know

Darwin wasn't right
You don't have to be the fittest to survive
You have to acknowledge that you are fragile

You have to reach out for that one helping hand

you don't have to be strong for the world outside

If you can't stand it any more you have to give yourself the liberty to break

but then slowly pick up the pieces of your shattered soul and walk ahead.

No it's not the fittest who survive

it's the ones who give it a fight

it's the ones who are not afraid to cry,

It's the ones who give at least one chance to life.

प्रगति के आने से ही मैने ये शकल पायी है।

उन सड़कों पे दौड़ती हुई तेज़ गाड़िया जब मेरे पास से गुज़रती है,
वो भी मेरे कानों में ऐसा ही कुछ कहती है।

और ऊंची ऊंची इमारतें जब मेरी और देखती हैं
तो प्रगति वाली हील पहन वो
और ऊँची दिखती हैं।

फिर क्या मेरे गाँव की ज़मीन तक अभी ये खबर नहीं पहुंची है,
की उसके चमड़ी पे दरारे है
और फसल से लहलहाने वाले होंठ सूख गए हैं।
क्या वो इतनी नासमझ है की प्रगति वाली ये क्रीम उसने अब तक नहीं लगायी है।

क्या उसे नहीं मालूम की हम बढे जा रहे है एक सुन्दर सशक्त देश की तरफ,
फिर वो ज़मीन क्यों दहाड़े मार मार के रोती हैं.
क्यों चुप चाप दम तोड़ नहीं देती,
न जाने किसकी सहमति की आस लिए बैठी है।

क्यों वो बार बार अपना कुरूप चेहरा सामने ले आती है,
और प्रगति के पाउडर से लिप्त इस देश की बड़ी बड़ी सड़को, इ

मारतों की खूबसूरती को
दाग लगाती है।

क्या ये इतनी नासमझ है
की ये नहीं जानती की इसके कटे फटे चेहरे पर
या इसके आत्महत्या कर लेने पर
ये प्रगति की लहर रुकेगी नहीं।
हम ढांक लेंगे इसकी बदसूरती को
चौड़ी चौड़ी सड़कोंं के और ऊँची ऊँची इमरतोंं के पीछे,

क्या ये नहीं जानती की प्रगति की लहर में बह चले इस देश के चमचमाते चेहरे पर,

when man needs comfort and love,

Man carries the plough, woman carries the water;
from soil and water mixed together,

In longing for woman, or in her communion,
man found where the poets' hearts belong,

and sounds turned into song.

Man's present - the passion; woman's is affection -
with the communion that hungry loves entail,
comes the children - all magnificent
from man the great that even angels hail.

All the great victory of the world
and all the grand voyages,
gained grandeur and nobility from sacrifice of
mothers, sisters, and wives, throughout the ages.

How much blood man has offered
is recorded in annals of history;
how many women became widow -
No record of that - Is it a mystery?

How many mothers poured their hearts,
and how many sisters did serve?
the memorials of heroes - great or small
do not show that - do you not observe?

Victory hasn't kissed man's sword,
because of the valor of man alone;
the inspiration and pride woman brought
to men, that should also be known.

While king rules the kingdom
and queen rules the king,
the misery and sadness go away,
joy and happiness her grace does bring.

यहाँ कोकिला नहीं, काग हैं, शोर मचाते,
काले काले कीट, भ्रमर का भ्रम उपजाते।

कलियाँ भी अधखिली, मिली हैं कंटक-कुल से,
वे पौधे, व पुष्प शुष्क हैं अथवा झुलसे।

परिमल-हीन पराग दाग सा बना पड़ा है,
हा! यह प्यारा बाग खून से सना पड़ा है।

ओ, प्रिय ऋतुराज! किन्तु धीरे से आना,
यह है शोक-स्थान यहाँ मत शोर मचाना।

वायु चले, पर मंद चाल से उसे चलाना,
दुःख की आहें संग उड़ा कर मत ले जाना।

कोकिल गावें, किन्तु राग रोने का गावें,
भ्रमर करें गुंजार कष्ट की कथा सुनावें।

लाना संग में पुष्प, न हों वे अधिक सजीले,
तो सुगंध भी मंद, ओस से कुछ कुछ गीले।

किन्तु न तुम उपहार भाव आ कर दिखलाना,
स्मृति में पूजा हेतु यहाँ थोड़े बिखराना।

कोमल बालक मरे यहाँ गोली खा कर,
कलियाँ उनके लिये गिराना थोड़ी ला कर।

आशाओं से भरे हृदय भी छिन्न हुए हैं,
अपने प्रिय परिवार देश से भिन्न हुए हैं।

कुछ कलियाँ अधखिली यहाँ इसलिए चढ़ाना,
कर के उनकी याद अश्रु के ओस बहाना।

तड़प तड़प कर वृद्ध मरे हैं गोली खा कर,
शुष्क पुष्प कुछ वहाँ गिरा देना तुम जा कर।

यह सब करना, किन्तु यहाँ मत शोर मचाना,

चमक उठी सन सत्तावन में, वह तलवार पुरानी थी,

कानपूर के नाना की, मुँहबोली बहन छबीली थी,
लक्ष्मीबाई नाम, पिता की वह संतान अकेली थी,
नाना के सँग पढ़ती थी वह, नाना के सँग खेली थी,
बरछी ढाल, कृपाण, कटारी उसकी यही सहेली थी।
वीर शिवाजी की गाथायें उसकी याद ज़बानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

लक्ष्मी थी या दुर्गा थी वह स्वयं वीरता की अवतार,
देख मराठे पुलकित होते उसकी तलवारों के वार,
नकली युद्ध-व्यूह की रचना और खेलना खूब शिकार,
सैन्य घेरना, दुर्ग तोड़ना ये थे उसके प्रिय खिलवार।
महाराष्टर-कुल-देवी उसकी भी आराध्य भवानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

हुई वीरता की वैभव के साथ सगाई झाँसी में,
ब्याह हुआ रानी बन आई लक्ष्मीबाई झाँसी में,
राजमहल में बजी बधाई खुशियाँ छाई झाँसी में,
सुभट बुंदेलों की विरुदावलि सी वह आयी झांसी में,
चित्रा ने अर्जुन को पाया, शिव से मिली भवानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

उदित हुआ सौभाग्य, मुदित महलों में उजियाली छाई,
किंतु कालगति चुपके-चुपके काली घटा घेर लाई,
तीर चलाने वाले कर में उसे चूड़ियाँ कब भाई,
रानी विधवा हुई, हाय! विधि को भी नहीं दया आई।
निसंतान मरे राजाजी रानी शोक-समानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

बुझा दीप झाँसी का तब डलहौज़ी मन में हरषाया,
राज्य हड़प करने का उसने यह अच्छा अवसर पाया,
फ़ौरन फौजें भेज दुर्ग पर अपना झंडा फहराया,
लावारिस का वारिस बनकर ब्रिटिश राज्य झाँसी आया।
अश्रुपूर्णा रानी ने देखा झाँसी हुई बिरानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

अनुनय विनय नहीं सुनती है, विकट शासकों की माया,
व्यापारी बन दया चाहता था जब यह भारत आया,
डलहौज़ी ने पैर पसारे, अब तो पलट गई काया,
राजाओं नव्वाबों को भी उसने पैरों ठुकराया।
रानी दासी बनी, बनी यह दासी अब महरानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

छिनी राजधानी दिल्ली की, लखनऊ छीना बातों-बात,
कैद पेशवा था बिठुर में, हुआ नागपुर का भी घात,
उदैपुर, तंजौर, सतारा, करनाटक की कौन बिसात?
जबकि सिंध, पंजाब ब्रह्म पर अभी हुआ था वज्र-निपात।
बंगाले, मद्रास आदि की भी तो वही कहानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

रानी रोयीं रिनवासों में, बेगम ग़म से थीं बेज़ार,
उनके गहने कपड़े बिकते थे कलकत्ते के बाज़ार,
सरे आम नीलाम छापते थे अंग्रेज़ों के अखबार,
'नागपूर के ज़ेवर ले लो लखनऊ के लो नौलख हार'।
यों परदे की इज़्ज़त परदेशी के हाथ बिकानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

कुटियों में भी विषम वेदना, महलों में आहत अपमान,
वीर सैनिकों के मन में था अपने पुरखों का अभिमान,
नाना धुंधूपंत पेशवा जुटा रहा था सब सामान,
बहिन छबीली ने रण-चण्डी का कर दिया प्रकट आहवान।
हुआ यज्ञ प्रारम्भ उन्हें तो सोई ज्योति जगानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

महलों ने दी आग, झोंपड़ी ने ज्वाला सुलगाई थी,
यह स्वतंत्रता की चिनगारी अंतरतम से आई थी,
झाँसी चेती, दिल्ली चेती, लखनऊ लपटें छाई थी,
मेरठ, कानपूर, पटना ने भारी धूम मचाई थी,
जबलपूर, कोल्हापूर में भी कुछ हलचल उकसानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

इस स्वतंत्रता महायज्ञ में कई वीरवर आए काम,
नाना धुंधूपंत, ताँतिया, चतुर अज़ीमुल्ला सरनाम,
अहमदशाह मौलवी, ठाकुर कुँवरसिंह सैनिक अभिराम,
भारत के इतिहास गगन में अमर रहेंगे जिनके नाम।
लेकिन आज जुर्म कहलाती उनकी जो कुरबानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

इनकी गाथा छोड़, चले हम झाँसी के मैदानों में,
जहाँ खड़ी है लक्ष्मीबाई मर्द बनी मर्दानों में,
लेफ्टिनेंट वाकर आ पहुँचा, आगे बड़ा जवानों में,
रानी ने तलवार खींच ली, हुया द्वन्द्ध असमानों में।
ज़ख्मी होकर वाकर भागा, उसे अजब हैरानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

रानी बढ़ी कालपी आई, कर सौ मील निरंतर पार,
घोड़ा थक कर गिरा भूमि पर गया स्वर्ग तत्काल सिधार,
यमुना तट पर अंग्रेज़ों ने फिर खाई रानी से हार,
विजयी रानी आगे चल दी, किया ग्वालियर पर अधिकार।
अंग्रेज़ों के मित्र सिंधिया ने छोड़ी रजधानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

विजय मिली, पर अंग्रेज़ों की फिर सेना घिर आई थी,
अबके जनरल स्मिथ सम्मुख था, उसने मुहँ की खाई थी,
काना और मंदरा सखियाँ रानी के संग आई थी,
युद्ध श्रेत्र में उन दोनों ने भारी मार मचाई थी।
पर पीछे ह्यूरोज़ आ गया, हाय! घिरी अब रानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

तो भी रानी मार काट कर चलती बनी सैन्य के पार,
किन्तु सामने नाला आया, था वह संकट विषम अपार,
घोड़ा अड़ा, नया घोड़ा था, इतने में आ गये अवार,
रानी एक, शत्रु बहुतेरे, होने लगे वार-पर-वार।
घायल होकर गिरी सिंहनी उसे वीर गति पानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

रानी गई सिधार चिता अब उसकी दिव्य सवारी थी,
मिला तेज से तेज, तेज की वह सच्ची अधिकारी थी,
अभी उम्र कुल तेइस की थी, मनुज नहीं अवतारी थी,
हमको जीवित करने आयी बन स्वतंत्रता-नारी थी,
दिखा गई पथ, सिखा गई हमको जो सीख सिखानी थी,
बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी,
खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी।।

जाओ रानी याद रखेंगे ये कृतज्ञ भारतवासी,

बैंगलोर की सड़कों पर हर सुबह मैं खुद को झांसी की रानी सा समझती हूँ,
अपनी दू - पहिया मोटर पे सवार गड्ढों से बने रास्तों, लाल बत्तियों और इधर उधर से आती जाती गाड़ियों के बीच से जब रास्ता बना, अपनी रणभूमि (दफ्तर) पहुँचती हूँ।

मगर रणभूमि पहुँचते ही असलियत सामने आ जाती है,
जब यहाँ प्रवेश के लिए भी एक अदना सी मशीन की इजाज़त लेनी पढ़ती है।

जब लैपटॉप की तोप से मेलों की बौछार होती है,
मैं चुप चाप सारे हथियार डाल देती हूँ।

आत्म समर्पण करती हूँ और अपने क्यूबिकल रूपी कारागार में बंद हो जाती हूँ,
न जाने कितने सालों से ये सिलसिला चला जा रहा है ,
जब मैं हर सुबह झांसी की रानी और फिर एक मामूली कर्मचारी बन जाती हूँ।

नारीवाद का ड्रामा

मेरे दफ्तर के नीचे एक पान वाले की है दुकान,
दुकान वाला लगता है, यू पी का हैं जनाब

मैं अक्सर उससे पान-खजूर लेती हूँ,
कभी कभार कुछ बातें करने की कई कोशिशें भी करती हूँ,

पर ऐसा लगता है की वो मुझसे बात करते हुए कतराता है,
बहुत सोचा पर कारण समझ नहीं आता है,

आज मैंने उससे आखिर पूछ हि लिया,
भैया आप क्या यू पी से हैं ?
ये पान खजूर तो बहुत बढ़िया बनातें है,
क्या इस शहर की हवा आपको अभी तक नहीं भाई है ?
क्यों इतने चुप चाप से रहते हैं
क्या कोई समस्या छायी है ?

वो पहली बार थोड़ा सा मुस्कुराया,
बोला मोहतरमा गप्पें तो हम बहुत हांकते हैं,
पर इस शहर की महिलाओं से ज़रा कतराते हैं।

मैंने पुछा महिलाओं ने उसका ऐसा क्या बिगाड़ा है,
वो बोला नहीं नहीं अभी तक कुछ बिगाड़ा तो नहीं है,
पर सुना है शहरों में पढ़ी लिखी,
ए सी ऑफिसों में काम करती हुई, बड़ी गाड़ियों में घूमती हुई,
महिलाओं ने मिलकर कोई मोर्चा संभाला है।

सुना मोर्चे का नारीवाद के नाम से बोलबाला है।
अब मतलब तो कुछ हमें समझ नहीं आता है,
पर मुन्नी की अम्मा ने पिछले दिनों संभल कर रहने को कहा था,
बोला पास के बिरजू की बढ़ी धुनाई हुई उस दिन, गलती से एक महिला से टकरा गया था,
सुना है उस महिला के हाथों में जो नारीवाद का जो झंडा था ज़रा बिगड़ गया था।

अब हम तो इस शहर में दो वक़्त की रोटी कमाना चाहते हैं,
मुनिया को पढ़ा लिखा कर डॉक्टर बनाना चाहते हैं।
सीधी सादी सी ज़िन्दगी है मैडम,
इसलिए इस शहर की महिलाओं और नारीवाद से बहुत घबरातें हैं।

मसान : एक सामान्य जीवन की अदभुत कहानी।

बहुत दिनों बाद एक फिल्म देखी जो बहुत समय तक साथ रहेगी। जी नही इस फिल्म में कोई उपदेश नही है। सही और गलत की कोई लड़ाई नहीं। ना कोई विलेन है और नाही कोई हीरो जो एक हाथ से दस लोगो को पछाड़ दे।
ये कहानी है मेरी और आपकी। कहानी है जीवन की, जहाँ बड़ी ही सरलता से इस सच्चाई को दर्शाया गया है की जीवन का सबसे बड़ा सच ये है की वो चलते जाता है। कुछ भी हमेशा के लिए नहीं रहता न दुःख ना ख़ुशी ना ही कोई मुसीबत। मेरे और आपके सामान्य से जीवन की ये कहानी कहीं न कहीं हमें ये उम्मीद भी दे जाती है की जीवन का पइया चलता जाता है और हर समस्या का हल निकलता है। कोशिश करते जाइए बस।

इस फिल्म के हर किरदार से आप मिले हैं कभी न कभी। देवी शायद आपकी कोई दोस्त रही होगी , या शायद आपके स्कूल या कॉलेज की वो लड़की आप जिससे ईर्ष्या करते हो, की इतनी हिम्मत आती कहाँ से है और हो सकता है आपने उसे कभी बदचलन या कुछ ज़्यादा ही फॉरवर्ड होने का लेबल भी दिया हो। देवी के पिता में आपको अपने पिताजी की भी झलक दिखेगी। मर्ज़ी चाहे कितनी भी बड़ी गलती करिए पापा की नाराज़गी कुछ पल की ही मेहमान होती है और देवी के घर छोड़ने पे आपको अपने घर छोड़के हॉस्टल जाने वाला वो दिन ज़रूर याद आएगा। शालू और दीपक के प्यार में आपको अपना पहला प्यार और दीपक के दोस्तों में अपने दोस्तों की याद ज़रूर आएगी। दुर्गा पूजा के पंडाल में छुप छुप के आँखों ही आँखों में प्रेम जताने का सीन आपके दिल में वो लड़कपन की गुदगुदी फिर पैदा करेगी और ये तसल्ली भी मिलेगी की फेसबुक के दौरान का प्रेम हो या कुछ सालों पहले के चिट्ठियों वाला आज भी पहले प्रेम की मासूमियत और गुदगुदाहट एक सी ही है।

फिल्म का बोनस : दुष्यंत की कविता पर बना ये गाना " तू किसी रेल सी गुज़रती है, मैं किसी पुल सा थरथराता हूँ " आपको राहत देगा की "चार बोतल वोडका " के इस दौर में भी दुष्यंत को याद करने वाले लोग हैं। और अगर हिंदी साहित्य और कविताओं से सरोकार ना भी रखतें हो तो "अकबर अलाह्बादी " "निदा फ़ाज़ली " का उल्लेख आपको उनके बारे में और जानने के लिए थोड़ा उकसायेगा ज़रूर। अपनी ये उत्सुकता शांत कीजियेगा, पछताऐंगे नहीं।

अगर आपने मसान अभी तक नही देखी तो ज़रूर देखिये। बहुत मुश्किल से इस दर्जे की फिल्में बनती है आजकल। मिस मत कीजियेगा।

The Morning Rantings

As I walk out of my house to start yet another day,

The glaring sun and the dust on the concrete path mark my way...

I see the autowallah just outside

and thank my stars to have found him just on time...

With warm greetings, he gestures me to sit inside,

I wonder if it's me or the moolah that's making him smile...

Ah! the moolah!! isn't it why even I am taking this ride ??

I flash my teeth to him, obviously reciprocating to his fake smile...

As I pass through the same way, thinking about the to-do list of the day,

In between the honking-ponking, the black smoot, the red lights I see that half cut tree...

I wonder if it ever despises the autowallah and me?

The old man is at the signal even today, I look at his bent stature and wonder...

what makes him bear the burden of life this way,

His sunken eyeballs has no expressions but one, that's of dismay.

But, as I give him his share of moolah, he displays a forced smile anyway...

As I reach my destination once again, I shut the chaotic rantings of my mind for one more day,

and yet again I wonder,wouldn't life be easier if just for once I could listen what my heart has to say!!

सुबह सुबह आज वो खुले आसमान के नीचे, मिट्टी की ज़मीन पर झाड़ू लगा रही थी,
घर तो था नहीं, ना जाने किस दहलीज़ को फिर सवाँर रही थी,

हैरान थी मैं, की जब उसके इन हालातों पर मेरी आँखें भर आई थी,
वो कमबख्त न जाने कौन सी ख़ुशी में फिर भी मुस्कुरा रही थी।
