Thursday Thirteen 13 Myths and Facts about St. Patrick’s Day celebration and St. Patrick, the patron saint.

Hi everyone,

1. The real St. Patrick was born in Britain around A.D. 390 to an aristocratic Christian family and had no interest in Christianity as a child.

2. At 16, Patrick was kidnapped and sent overseas to tend sheep as a slave in Ireland for 7 years where he becomes a deeply believing Christian.

3. Ordained as a priest in Britain, Patrick spends the rest of his life trying to convert the Irish to Christianity.

4. After he died on March 17, 461, Patrick was largely forgotten. But slowly, mythology grew around Patrick, and centuries later he was honored as the patron saint of Ireland.

5. According to St. Patrick's Day lore, Patrick used the three leaves of a shamrock to explain the Christian holy trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

6. The custom of wearing a shamrock dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries.

7. St. Patrick banished snakes from Ireland is a myth. It's true no snakes exist on the island today but they never did. Icy ocean waters surrounding Ireland are too cold to allow snakes to migrate from Britain or anywhere else.

8. Snakes often represent evil, so when Patrick drives the snakes out of Ireland, it’s symbolically saying he drove the old, evil, pagan ways out of Ireland and brought in a new age.

9. St. Patrick's Day was basically invented in America by Irish-Americans.

10. In 1762, 18th century Irish soldiers fighting with the British in the U.S. Revolutionary War held the first St. Patrick's Day parades, marching through New York City to reconnect with their Irish roots.

11. In 1962, in Chicago, the city decided to dye a portion of the Chicago River green.

12. On any given day 5.5 million pints of Guinness, the famous Irish stout brand, are consumed around the world. On St. Patrick's Day, that number more than doubles to 13 million pints.

13. A lot of Irish immigrants came to the United States and brought with them lots of customs and traditions, one of them being Guinness.

Remember to check back tomorrow to see the artist and their four songs I select for this week’s Foreplay Friday.

Blessings,
Today, February 22, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Robin Helm. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Robin!

**************************

Those Troublesome Verbs

I taught English (among other subjects) for twenty-five years, most of those years on a high school level, yet there are still a few words which are confusing to me when I am writing.

The worst among those are the verbs “lie” and “lay.” “Lie” means “to recline,” and the verb is intransitive; it has no receiver for its action. The principal parts of “to lie” are lie, lying, lay, and (have) lain. “Lay” means “to put or place something. Its principal parts are lay, laying, laid, and (have) laid, and it is transitive; “lay” must have a receiver for its action.

Find the receiver, or direct object, by asking “who” or “what” after the verb if the verb is in the active voice, meaning that the subject is performing the action.

The confusion arises when using tenses other than the present tense. He lies down for thirty minutes after lunch each day. He lays the book on the table as he enters the house. The first sentence has no receiver, and the second has a receiver (the direct object, “book”).

No problem.

However, the past tense of “lie” is lay – big problem. I always have to recite the principal parts of the verbs in my head when I use them in the past tense forms, reminding myself that if there is no receiver (such as a direct object), I must use the verb “lie.”

He lay on the bed all morning. (There is no receiver for the action so I use the past tense of the verb “lie.”)

He laid the book on the table yesterday. (“Book” is the direct object and receives the action so I use the past tense of the verb “lay”.)

Extend that thinking for the other principal parts. He has lain on the bed every afternoon for two weeks. (The verb is intransitive because there is no receiver.)

The books were laid on the table yesterday. (The subject, books, receives the action of the passive voice verb, so the verb is transitive. All passive voice verbs are transitive.

A verb is passive if the subject is not performing the action.) He has laid his books on the table every day for two weeks. (“He” is the subject, “books” is the direct object, or receiver; therefore, the verb is transitive.)

It’s not simple, but it is logical.
BLURB: Guardian, Volume I of The Guardian Trilogy

In Guardian, a religious fantasy fiction, the powerful and imposing Xander/Darcy, Chief of Guardian Angels, has protected exceptional humans from demonic forces over the course of ten millennia without losing a single battle. In 1989, he receives an unusual assignment which will forever change his ordered existence and alter the course of human history.

Will he lose the battle for his own heart while guarding supernaturally gifted Elizabeth Bennet from the evil which surrounds her? Will he be strong enough to resist her as she grows from a precocious child into a beautiful, intelligent woman? The veil dividing the physical and spiritual planes is drawn aside to reveal warfare on an unprecedented scale as Elizabeth develops her gifts and her guardian discovers his emotions.
BLURB: SoulFire, Volume II of The Guardian Trilogy

In the second volume of The Guardian Trilogy, Fitzwilliam Alexander Darcy, powerful Chief of all guardian angels, adjusts to life with a dual nature. An angel/human, Darcy seeks to win the love of his beautiful partner in SoulFire Ministries, Elizabeth Bennet, as they travel together across the globe. While keeping his true identity hidden, Darcy joins archangels Michael and Gabriel in defending and protecting Elizabeth from the schemes and trickery of Gregory, the Dark Prince, and Lucifer, his father.

Though the supernaturally gifted team of Darcy and Elizabeth is tremendously successful in their joint mission as they partner with evangelist Jonathan Edwards, the question remains, will Elizabeth find the strength within herself to forgive Darcy for his secrecy after she accidentally discovers the truth, that he was her guardian angel, or will Gregory be ultimately successful in separating this match made in heaven?

Episode 3: Chakra System
Part 3: The second of four level or dimensions of the universal field continued

Here’s a quick review from last week’s blog post before continuing with this week’s discuss on the second part of the second of the four level or dimensions of the universal field.

In previous postings on the Chakra system, we discussed the subtle energy bodies. The easiest way to describe the subtle energy bodies is to think of an invisible shield surrounding and running through the physical body. This invisible shield or universal field is made up of four level or dimensions; the physical, astral, mental and causal.

Each of these four dimensions or subtle energy bodies interpenetrates the next other and they each vibrate within a difference but specific range of frequencies.

Two weeks ago, I introduced the lowest frequency dimension, the physical body.

The etheric double interpenetrates the physical body, which is the point of contact of the physical body and the subtle bodies. The etheric double is the vehicle of consciousness for the physical body.

Last week’s post covered the first part of the next higher frequency dimension of the subtle energy bodies, the astral level.

One purpose of the astral body is to connect the mental body to the physical body through its connection to the etheric double. Matter on the astral plane makes up the astral body. The astral matter vibrates at a higher frequency than either physical or etheric matter.

The Principle of Mutual Attraction

Mutual attraction principle is a very simple idea, like attracts like. A specific emotion or frequency of energy radiates from a person’s astral body, will attract the same emotion or frequency of energy from someone else’s astral body.

The law of magnetism or mutual attraction doesn’t just apply to the unconscious subtle bodies, it also applies to the physical conscious world too.

A person stores their unconscious fear, anger and pain in the astral body and the etheric aura surrounding it. They vibrate and flow into the environment and brings a person with comparable energy to them.

Someone may consciously want success, joy and/or love in their live, but their unconscious fear, pain or anger prevents them from achieving their conscious desires.

Through our astral body, we can sense the energy, mood or feelings from another person, or within our environment. Anyone can develop this ability through becoming aware of their astral body as I stated in last week’s post.

It’s important for us to feel our impact on our environment and to feel the impact of our environment has on us. Energy or frequency of Prana can be passed to us, to others and into our environment through the form of thought or emotions. Energy can be passes consciously or unconsciously whether in thought and/or emotional forms.

One of the biggest problem people have in understanding energy fields is determining if energy in the form of thought or emotions is coming from their own energy field, another’s energy field or the environment.

Here are a few guidelines to help you determine what feelings or thoughts are coming from your personal energy field and which enter your field from outside:

Thought precedes emotion: If you feel something not related to what you’re thinking, it’s probably not your feeling and coming from an outside energy field.

Thoughts and feelings out of context of what you’re doing at the moment aren’t usually your own.

Heavy feelings that press on you from the outside aren’t your feelings. They’re being projected to you from an outside field.

Feelings and thoughts hammering you, even when you want to get rid of them, aren’t your own, they’re coming from outside your field.

Sudden and dramatic emotional changes caused by entering discordant energy fields.

Changes, accusations badgering and the perpetual change, “You are wrong,” don’t originate in your personal energy field.

Sudden weakness or exhaustion as well as confusion or anxiety comes from discordant energy fields.

Physical experiences, heat, pressures, thrills, etc, which are out of context to what you are doing are generated by outside fields.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with more on the astral body, emotions and how they impact our physical world.

Today, February 22, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Rachel Firasek. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Rachel!

**************************

Let’s start out by getting the name of your newest release and what genre/category it falls into?

The Last Beginning is a paranormal romance novella in my Curse of the Phoenix series.

Can you describe your heroine in 3 words?

Feisty, Faithful, Fun

Can you describe your hero in 3 words?

Possessive, Arrogant, Devoted

What is the sexiest trait of the main man in your newest book?

His love of Sadie. He’s always loved her and there is just something damn sexy about a man who doesn’t run from his feelings.

Do you have a favorite object that is pertinent to your writing?

Music. You’ll hardly ever find me without music playing while I’m writing. Most of my stories’ moods are affected by the music I’m listening to.

Who has been your best supporter? How have they been there for you?

My husband. I have no words for what he’s done for me for the last two years without complaint. When I’m upset or frustrated and just want to walk away from it all, he’s behind me going “Are you a quitter? Do you want it easy? I don’t love you for giving up? I love you for fighting through it.” Seriously, this is a direct quote from him. Now, do you see why I love him.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced as a writer?

Staying away from the negativity of some other writers. It’s really easy to get sucked into the reasons why we don’t have time to write and there are just some people that will have any excuse for moment they’ve wasted. I try to stay away from that.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

The day I sat down and began with a blank page before me. I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

Has any other writer online had a big effect on you, or your writing?

This is going to look like I’m kissing up since she’s a senior editor at Entangled Publishing, but Heather Howland has probably helped me the most.

She worked with me on my very first novel and had the patience and forthrightness to tell me like it was. I’m so glad she showed me all of my amateur writing mistakes and taught me how to find them on my own. I heart this woman for doing what most editors will never take the time to do.

To date, what has been the best advice or words of encouragement you've received?

No matter what, keep writing.

What genre(s) do you write? And why?

I write mostly Paranormal Romance because creating other worlds and people with extraordinary abilities is my way to get away from the everyday stresses of the real world. It’s my own literary therapy.

Sadie’s days fighting off greedy claim jumpers ended in 1856 when Osiris snatched her from her filthy room and placed her with a trio of phoenixes.

After 150 years living a respectable life saving souls, she’s tired of playing by the god’s rules. It’s time the master of manipulation learned her creed: live hard, play for keeps, and never let the enemy see you suffer.

Osiris never imagined the true queen he’s spent two millennia searching for would be a half-pint redhead with a mouth that makes him blush. She needs a gentle hand to breach her defenses, but living with her and keeping his natural arrogance at a simmer proves a challenge worthy of any champion.

While Osiris teaches her the wisdom needed to rule a world with fairness, the irritating god only intensifies Sadie’s belief in her creed, reinforcing the walls that keep her from happiness. If Osiris can’t win her hardened heart, Sadie’s ascension might threaten the world he’s struggled to create.
Ex-soldier Greyson Meadows desperately wants to be freed from the nightmares and guilt that haunt him after the tragedy that brought him and Ari together. When Ari becomes the target of her own magical blunder, it’s not just her life in danger, but now the one of the man she loves.
The Last Awakening Excerpt:

Grey propped himself against the inside of the door. He’d given her a few minutes alone after work while he grabbed his bag from his car. In fact, he’d spent at least a good ten convincing himself he could do this. Now, he wasn’t so sure, but he would still fix her door before he left. Damn woman hadn’t even locked it. He’d knocked twice and stepped inside when she didn’t respond.

“Arabella?”

No answer.

He’d wait. Through the paper-thin wall he listened to the shower and then the light patter of dainty feet running across her room. This really was the worst apartment he’d ever seen. Worse than some of the military tents he’d lived in.

He sat his bag beside him and tapped his fingers along the door. Any day now. Her bedroom door flew open, and she rushed out. He’d imagined her in silk pajamas with beaded nipples teasing him and begging for his taste—not the sweatshirt or the flannel bottoms. They weren’t bad either and actually may have added to her appeal—there was something highly erotic about wondering what was beneath.

She sagged a little and dropped a hand across her chest. The smile she’d met him with slipped. “What?”

“You’re beautiful.” Damn, if he didn’t stop putting his foot in his mouth.

She blushed, painting her cheeks with the prettiest shade of pink before she ducked away from him. “What’s in the bag?”

“You need more protection.” He pulled out his wallet and fumbled through the slots for a business card. She leaned in closer and stood on tiptoe, watching his every move. “Nosy?”

When he handed her the card, she frowned.

“What did you think this was?” he asked.

She didn’t answer, but her pink cheeks shouted it loud and clear.

“Did you think I was going for a condom?”

She turned away, sank down onto her sofa, and pouted.

Surely she didn’t think…nah, no way could she want…He burst into a fit of laughter. Christ, how long had it been since he’d laughed? Really laughed?

She was feisty as hell. He wanted more than anything to snatch her up and carry her to her creaky bed and let Mike—and whoever else wanted to—listen through her walls as he connected with her in the basest of ways. But first, they had things to get out in the open.

“Don’t laugh at me.”

He chuckled harder and moved closer to her. “I’m sorry to disappoint you. I brought some locks over. Before I leave, I’ll install them.”

“You don’t have to.”

“I want to.”

She sputtered. Her eyes sparked for a moment, and when she blinked a soft cloud covered the amber. Shit. Smoke floated across her eyes like something straight out of a B movie. He shook his head and pinched the tender skin above his brow. Damn hallucinations. He thought he was past them. “Are you okay?”

“You laugh at me and then want to know if I’m okay? Really?”
“Your eyes. I thought I…never mind.” Shut up, man, before you show her what a fucking freak you are.

Ari spun away from him. She gathered deep breaths, stretching the muscles in her back tight. “I’ll be in my room while you do whatever it is you’re going to do. Come get me when you’re done and can remember your manners, s’il vous plait.”

“Ari?”

She didn’t stop for him. Damn, he’d been an ass. Exactly what he said he wasn’t going to do. His plan had been to fix her door. Maybe have a beer with her. Find out how she was dealing with what happened, and possibly share some of his sorrow. But he’d think twice about the drink if he was going to start seeing shit. He’d had all the flashbacks he wanted in a lifetime, but to actually start hallucinating was too much. The alcohol was screwing with his head. Might be time to cut back.

He installed the new deadbolts and loaded his tools. The bedroom door remained shut, but the light peeked from beneath it. He crossed to knock softly on the thin wood. “Ari?”

No answer.

“I’m done. I’ll let myself out…come lock up after me.”

Yeah, he’d screwed up and he’d be lucky if the one person he could connect with, who’d understand, ever talked to him again.

After paying two millennia’s penance to Osiris, world-weary Phoenix Ice has had enough. Saving souls without any hope for her own redemption isn’t how she imagined spending eternity. Fed up, she decides her next death will be her last. But when she sacrifices her own life for a sexy Texan in a catastrophic plane crash, she has no idea the consequences will be so great…or that she’ll end up back in his life for her next assignment.

Now that Turner Alcott has survived the worst, finding a wife and mother for his son matters more than ever before. When the mysterious Ice comes into his life, Turner knows she’s the one—but love is the last thing Ice wants. If he wants to win her heart, Turner must teach Ice how to forgive herself, and prove that love is the ultimate sacrifice.

The Last Rising Excerpt:

“Why is it I can’t get you out of my mind? You say we haven’t met, but my dreams remember you.”

Oh yeah, he’d dreamt of a woman for months now. She resembled his dream woman in so many ways, but he’d never seen his fantasy lover’s face.

She struggled against his clutch. “Mr. Alcott, I assure you we haven’t met. And for your other question, I don’t know why, but you need to release me.”

Why did that quivering bottom lip make him suspect she was lying? Turner rested his forehead against the top of hers and sucked in her scent. “Please, tell me I’m not losing my mind. Tell me you don’t visit me every night and I’ll promise to leave you alone. I just need to know.”

He sounded like a crazy man but she had to tell him. She was the only one who could put a stop to his mind’s constant fantasizing, and this feeling of déjà vu every time he saw her.

Ice wriggled in his arms, her thighs chafing against his slacks. “Mr. Alcott, you need to let me go.” She glanced around his shoulder. “Brodie is probably staring out that glass window and I would hate for him to get the wrong impression.”

She was right. He needed to get ahold of himself, but he didn’t have the strength to walk away. His hands traveled up and over her shoulders, stalling on her neck. Brushing his thumbs against her jaw, he pressed her head back and stared into hard eyes—no emotion. Couldn’t she see the battle he fought?

He teased the corner of her mouth with his thumb and her breathy gasp pleased him. So, she wasn’t completely immune to him. He dropped his head until his mouth hovered over hers.

“Mr. Alcott—”

“Shhh. I just need a taste of the sunshine.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Rachel Firasek grew up in the south and despite the gentle pace, she harassed life at full steam. Her curiosity about mythology, human nature, and the chemical imbalance we call love led her to writing. Her stories began with macabre war poems and shifted to enchanted fairytales, before she settled on a blending of the two.

Today you’ll find her tucked on a small parcel of land, surrounded by bleating sheep and barking dogs, with her husband and children. She entertains them all with her wacky sense of humor or animated reenactments of bad 80’s dance moves.

She’s intrigued by anything unexplained and seeks the answers to this crazy thing we call life. You can find her where the heart twists the soul and lights the shadows… or Rachel Firasek’s Website and blog

Episode 3: Chakra System
Part 2: The second of four level or dimensions of the universal field

Here’s a quick review from last week’s blog post before continuing with this week’s discuss on the second of the four level or dimensions of the universal field.

Last week, I introduced the lowest frequency dimension, the physical body.

The etheric double interpenetrates the physical body, which is the point of contact of the physical body and the subtle bodies. The etheric double is the vehicle of consciousness for the physical body.

This week’s post is about the astral level or dimension of the universal field.

One purpose of the astral body is to connect the mental body to the physical body through its connection to the etheric double.

Matter on the astral plane makes up the astral body. The astral matter vibrates at a higher frequency than either physical or etheric matter.

The etheric body is in our consciousness but the astral body is entirely in the unconsciousness. Many people don’t even realize we all have an astral body.

We can experience our astral body during meditation or during deep relaxation. For me, I experience my astral body as a sense of energy flowing and moving up, down and around my physical body.

If you learn to integrate and become fully conscious of the functions or movement of the astral body, you can learn to sense energy fields.

Once you become aware of your astral body and begin to refine that awareness, you will begin to develop many powers that other people don’t seem to possess. Your ability to influence and experience the world in a way appears to be almost magical to other people.

The more you refine your astral body the smoother the texture, the frequency, the brighter and clearer the color your aura will appear to a clairvoyant. A less refined aura will look cloudy, dark colored, chaotic and block out the physical body.

The astral body is the body of emotions. The more intense we feel and the more we express higher feelings of unconditional love, acceptance, empathy and compassion, the higher the vibrational frequency and the brighter the colors will become in the astral body.

The Principle of Mutual Attraction

Mutual attraction principle is a very simple idea, like attracts like. A specific emotion or frequency of energy radiates from a person’s astral body, will attract the same emotion or frequency of energy from someone else’s astral body. Whether either one likes it or not. Most times, this is all done unconsciously because as I stated above, the astral body is in our unconsciousness.

The law of magnetism or mutual attraction doesn’t just apply to the unconscious subtle bodies, it also applies to the physical conscious world too.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with more on the astral body, emotions and how they impact our physical world.

Today, February 22, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Camelia Miron Skiba. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Camelia!

**************************

BLURB:

In a war that’s not hers, she loses everything.
Everything she loses is because of him.
Forgiveness is not an option.
Or maybe...

Lieutenant Cassandra Toma, trauma surgeon in the Romanian National Army starts her deployment at a joint-unit air base on a wrong foot, clashing on her first day with her new commander, Major David Hunt. Her rebellious nature and sassiness rival her excellent performance in the operating room—the only reason why she's not reprimanded, or maybe not the only reason.

They meet. They clash. A forbidden passion consumes them with the intensity of an erupting volcano, leaving her heartbroken and him with tarnished honor and pride as an officer. The only way out for David is disappearing into the dangerous warzone in Iraq. Their flame was supposed to be over when destiny brings them back under the same roof, this time with a common goal—to find Cassandra's brother, Maj. Robert Toma, kidnapped by insurgents while on patrol.

To rescue Robert, Cassandra and David put aside their resentments, uniting forces against a common enemy. Trying to forget the painful past, Cassandra opens up to give David—and their love—another chance. What she doesn’t realize is that her anguish is the result of David’s impetuous action—one reckless choice he made for which she may never forgive him.

His mistake, his secret, could cost them both the love they've finally found.

EXCERPT #1:

“You need to calm down,” David inched closer to Cassandra, fixing her with such intensity her face caught fire.

“Calm down? You want me to calm down?” she snorted, jutting her chin up, hands on her hips.

“Yes. You need to calm down. What was that all about? Why are you so furious?”

“You want to know why I am so furious?” Cassandra grounded her feet apart and pushed her chin forward. “You really want to know? I’ll tell you why.

I’m so sick of your bigheaded attitude, of your ‘I’m an American—I do whatever I want’ arrogance!” She shoved a finger at David’s chest, poking it and leaning forward. Her gaze locked on his, their faces close.

“You act like some god on our grounds, like you’re doing us a big favor, honoring us with your royal presence as if we are a bunch of idiots you cannot stand. Anything that comes your way that is Romanian, you dismiss with such vehemence one might think it’s poisonous. Nothing we do or have is good enough for your nose."

“But let me tell you something, my friend. My people might not have everything so technical and so advanced, but they are good and hard-working people. They have good hearts and above all, they have dignity.

When you live for generations under communism and are treated the way we were, maybe only then you can understand what it means to be so ‘primitive’. To be given nothing and be expected to work wonders.

Your standards and ours obviously don’t match, but who are you to judge us? What do you know about us that gives you the right to treat us this way? Huh?

“And for your information, in case nobody had the courage to tell you, this is not our war.” She made a large circle with her arms. “We haven’t asked for it and we are doing you a favor allowing all of you to be on our soil.

And not vice versa.” Cassandra straightened her back, pushed away a curl that fell on her face and held her arms up. “Here you have it, I said it.”

She walked around David, opened the door and before leaving, said without looking back, “And don’t forget to write me up.”

EXCERPT #2:

David shook his head, scrunching his eyebrows. “Have you looked around, Cassandra? Do you have the smallest idea where we are?”

“Yes,” she jutted her chin up, her voice a rasp, “in a rat’s hole I don’t give a damn about. I could care less about the people here, nor want anything to do with them. This is not my war. I said it before, I’ll say it again. The only reason I’m here is for Robert, and Robert only.” She inhaled deeply, squeezing dreadful tears between her eyelids. “If you don’t want to help, that’s fine. But don’t try to stop me.” She turned to walk away, but David caught her wrist. “What—”

“Look around you. I get it you don't care about being here, or about the people, but you have a choice—the choice of staying alive and safe, here on the base. They,” he pointed at the beds, “didn't.”

Three soldiers occupied the room, one without an arm, another without a leg. The third one had bandages around his head, half of his face disfigured with burns.

Her stomach twisted, a strong taste of bile rising in her throat.

“And what am I supposed to do, David? Just sit around and wait?” She glanced at Laura who, standing in the doorway, waved a nurse not to enter.

Grateful that Laura spared her the embarrassment of being heard by others, she turned to David and said, “I have to at least try to find him, I have to.”

Her eyes burned with tears, her voice choked up. “He is somewhere out there, and must be found, alive...” Her stomach turned to a fire pit, pain forcing her to bend forward.

David grabbed her by the shoulders and for a moment, Cassandra thought he’d embrace her. Instead, he blinked quickly, pushed her slightly away and rubbed her upper arms, shaking his head, his voice heavy. “Cass ... You won’t be allowed to go anywhere. If your assignment is here on the base, in the hospital, then you'll follow orders. This is not Romania.”

She opened her mouth to speak, but David raised a hand. “There's no point in arguing, trust me.” He limped around the first bed, put gloves and a mask on and added, “Come, let's finish the rounds.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I WRITE. I LOVE. I DREAM. I WRITE.

I’m Chris’ wife, Patrick’s mom and Bella’s owner. During the day, I’m the assistant to the Director at SESE at Arizona State University, and romance’s slave at night.

I moved to the U.S eight years ago, following my heart and the man who stole it. I love comedies, historical dramas and happily-ever-after stories. English is not my native, not my second, but my third language.

Some fun facts about me:

Each year I participate in one big event that requires me to physically train. My biggest sportive accomplishment was the 3-day 60-mile Susan G. Komen Walk.

Annually I pick a color I decree my favorite (this year it’s salmon).

I refused to text until 2010, always preferring to hear voices rather than sending emotionless messages. Politic bores me to death and I have no tolerance for arrogance.

“A World Apart” is my second book. My debut novel “Hidden Heart” came out March 2011.

Episode 2: Chakra System
Part 1: The First of four level or dimensions of the universal field

Before starting to discuss healing of the first chakra, I think it would be best to go a bit deeper into the subtle energy bodies first.

The physical body is the lowest density and vibrates at the lowest frequency range and is located on the physical plane. The point of contact where the physical body interpenetrates the subtle bodies is the vehicle of our physical consciousness called the etheric double.

Prana runs along the nerves of the body and generates physical sensations that are transmitted from the nervous system into the etheric double.

Our emotions don’t originate in our physical body. Our emotions originate in our astral body and are transmitted into our bodies through the chakras. Our emotions are ranges of frequencies of Prana and impact our physical body by causing a chemical reaction within us.

Each chakra transmits Prana in a specific range of frequencies. Each frequency of Prana are interpreted with different emotions or feelings and associated with different human awareness.

A good example to help understand how the range of Prana frequencies might look, if we could see them, would be to look at a photo of a rainbow.

Looking at the rainbow photo, notice how each color blends into the adjoining colors. In the same way, each Prana frequency would correspond to a color of the rainbow and the frequencies blend into each other.

Our subtle bodies as well as our chakras are impacted by the external and internal energies. The chakras act like sensors and register the range of frequencies encountered in our environment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with the next installment on the chakras System.

Today, February 8, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Lani Joramo. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Lani!

**************************

First, I’m so honored to be here! Thank you, Mare, for inviting me to “chat” on your blog!

Let me begin by telling you a little about myself: I home school my nine year-old boy, who happens to be the cutest and funniest little giant in the world. I’m also a student, working on my Master’s degree in US Military History. My area of concentration is the American Revolution; more specifically I study women and Native American soldiers that fought for this nation’s independence. Lastly, I’m a writer trying to get published and have just started blogging about the ups and downs of this adventure.

I’ve been writing for most of my life. I even bound my first book with some string and ribbons. It was a lovely book made out of construction paper and crayons. I was six. The writing is less than legible, because I really didn’t know how to spell, but the pictures are pure gold!

Interestingly, my drawing skills never really improved past that age, and I believe the judge and jury are still out about my writing.

I became more serious about writing when my son was two. There is something so magical about children that will bring out creativity in droves. So I wrote. I finished my nearly 700 page coming-of-age story several years ago, and I can’t seem to stop writing since then.

My manuscript that I’ve been trying to get published for the last five hundred years is an American historical. Here’s a jacket flap explanation of the book: The first of the American Spirit chronicles catches Violet Buccleuch in Concord, Massachusetts, 1775, before she becomes immortal, when she turns from farmer to sniper.

On the cusp of her colony revolting, Violet--philosophical and tomboy-ish--is whirled from realizing her position in life versus her passion, when she meets French spy Jacque Beaumont--a man she cannot be attracted to, since she's already engaged to be married. But any kind of impractical romance on Violet's mind is turned to ashes when her sister is attacked by a conniving lobsterback.

The harder Violet tries to mend her family into what was, the more they fall apart, until they are ripped from her. Yet in the face of tragedy, she finds love. But as soon as she does it’s April 19th, and as the Battle of Lexington and Concord blasts outside her door, she decides to no longer live on chance, and takes matters into her own hands, use her own rifle to protect her new love, her life, and what will soon be called her country.

American Spirit: Chronicle I, like the Outlander series, does not fit into a definable genre, but if you had to smack a label on it, it would be an historical, a wee bit paranormal, romantic, military novel at 94,000 words. The remaining series tells of how the American Revolution was fought and won, and since Violet is immortal, similar to Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, she’s a witness to the War of 1812, The Trail of Tears, the Civil War, Emancipation, pioneering, gold rushes, the suffrage movement and on and on.

To read a chapter of American Spirit please feel free to check out my blog at Lani Joramo Blog

I’ve also written a contemporary women’s fiction titled, Woman Gone Wild. In it you’ll meet Coral Sjolander--divorcee, sociology professor, and a woman who competes with lumberjacks with her eating habits. When she starts a project analyzing the book, Women Who Run with the Wolves, the tales take on a life of their own. Can Coral survive chasing skeletons, threatening men who have blue beards, friends who lie to her, and her ultimate fear of all—passionate, wild love?

If you’d like to read a couple chapters of Woman Gone Wild feel free to check out my website at Lani Jaroma

I’ve also written paranormal mysteries, a paranormal romance, and am currently working on a time-travel historical.

Seeing as how it’s the day after Valentine’s Day, I’d like to wish everyone here a belated chocolate-filled day! In two day’s time, it will be my son’s birthday, and I’m going to snuggle my gigantic boy with a hug and tell him how grateful I am for him and all that he’s brought to me, including this huge drive to keep writing.

*******************

Thanks Lani for being my guest blogger today.

Thanks for dropping by, and please stop by tomorrow for Thursday Thirteen.

Episode 2: Chakra System
Part 1: The First Chakra – Muladhara or Root chakra

First chakra aroma therapy
Just like gemstones in last week’s post, there are several types of essential oils associated with our root chakra. The two I use while working on my root chakra are Cedarwood and Clove.

Cedarwood Oil
Cedarwood oil helps us build up energy. It also gives us a feeling of security and connectivity with our Mother Earth.

Clove Oil
Clove oil helps break up energy blockages within the root chakra. It also helps us to open up to new, fresher energies while letting go of old, no longer needed, stagnant energies of the past.

NOTE: Each essential oil has several proprieties that help us. Above I listed the one’s most familiar to me.

IMPORTANT TIP:You can utilize essential oils in many different ways. If you apply any pure essential oil(s) to your skin make sure you mix it with a carrier oil first. Some pure essential oils can cause ill effects when applied directly to the skin. Always keep ALL types of essential oils away from your eyes and the area surrounding them. Keep essential oils in a cool, dry place to get full life span usage.

Yoga and our first chakra

The two forms of yoga that mostly work through the root chakra are Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is used to prepare us for a higher form of meditation through cleansing and stimulating the physical body through certain body postures and breathing exercises.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini is also known as “snake power” coiled around our coccx. When awaken our kundalini slowly rises up our spinal column, it passes through each of our upper chakras.

Kundalini Yoga is the combination of a numerous of physical and spiritual exercises designed to awaken the snake power within each of our bodies.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with the next installment on the chakras System.
