Episode 3: Chakra System
Part 2: The second of four level or dimensions of the universal field

Here’s a quick review from last week’s blog post before continuing with this week’s discuss on the second of the four level or dimensions of the universal field.

In previous postings on the Chakra system, we discussed the subtle energy bodies. The easiest way to describe the subtle energy bodies is to think of an invisible shield surrounding and running through the physical body. This invisible shield or universal field is made up of four level or dimensions; the physical, astral, mental and causal.

Each of these four dimensions or subtle energy bodies interpenetrates the next other and they each vibrate within a difference but specific range of frequencies.

Last week, I introduced the lowest frequency dimension, the physical body.

The etheric double interpenetrates the physical body, which is the point of contact of the physical body and the subtle bodies. The etheric double is the vehicle of consciousness for the physical body.

This week’s post is about the astral level or dimension of the universal field.

One purpose of the astral body is to connect the mental body to the physical body through its connection to the etheric double.

Matter on the astral plane makes up the astral body. The astral matter vibrates at a higher frequency than either physical or etheric matter.

The etheric body is in our consciousness but the astral body is entirely in the unconsciousness. Many people don’t even realize we all have an astral body.

We can experience our astral body during meditation or during deep relaxation. For me, I experience my astral body as a sense of energy flowing and moving up, down and around my physical body.

If you learn to integrate and become fully conscious of the functions or movement of the astral body, you can learn to sense energy fields.

Once you become aware of your astral body and begin to refine that awareness, you will begin to develop many powers that other people don’t seem to possess. Your ability to influence and experience the world in a way appears to be almost magical to other people.

The more you refine your astral body the smoother the texture, the frequency, the brighter and clearer the color your aura will appear to a clairvoyant. A less refined aura will look cloudy, dark colored, chaotic and block out the physical body.

The astral body is the body of emotions. The more intense we feel and the more we express higher feelings of unconditional love, acceptance, empathy and compassion, the higher the vibrational frequency and the brighter the colors will become in the astral body.

The Principle of Mutual Attraction

Mutual attraction principle is a very simple idea, like attracts like. A specific emotion or frequency of energy radiates from a person’s astral body, will attract the same emotion or frequency of energy from someone else’s astral body. Whether either one likes it or not. Most times, this is all done unconsciously because as I stated above, the astral body is in our unconsciousness.

The law of magnetism or mutual attraction doesn’t just apply to the unconscious subtle bodies, it also applies to the physical conscious world too.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with more on the astral body, emotions and how they impact our physical world.

Today, February 22, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Camelia Miron Skiba. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Camelia!

**************************

BLURB:

In a war that’s not hers, she loses everything.
Everything she loses is because of him.
Forgiveness is not an option.
Or maybe...

Lieutenant Cassandra Toma, trauma surgeon in the Romanian National Army starts her deployment at a joint-unit air base on a wrong foot, clashing on her first day with her new commander, Major David Hunt. Her rebellious nature and sassiness rival her excellent performance in the operating room—the only reason why she's not reprimanded, or maybe not the only reason.

They meet. They clash. A forbidden passion consumes them with the intensity of an erupting volcano, leaving her heartbroken and him with tarnished honor and pride as an officer. The only way out for David is disappearing into the dangerous warzone in Iraq. Their flame was supposed to be over when destiny brings them back under the same roof, this time with a common goal—to find Cassandra's brother, Maj. Robert Toma, kidnapped by insurgents while on patrol.

To rescue Robert, Cassandra and David put aside their resentments, uniting forces against a common enemy. Trying to forget the painful past, Cassandra opens up to give David—and their love—another chance. What she doesn’t realize is that her anguish is the result of David’s impetuous action—one reckless choice he made for which she may never forgive him.

His mistake, his secret, could cost them both the love they've finally found.

EXCERPT #1:

“You need to calm down,” David inched closer to Cassandra, fixing her with such intensity her face caught fire.

“Calm down? You want me to calm down?” she snorted, jutting her chin up, hands on her hips.

“Yes. You need to calm down. What was that all about? Why are you so furious?”

“You want to know why I am so furious?” Cassandra grounded her feet apart and pushed her chin forward. “You really want to know? I’ll tell you why.

I’m so sick of your bigheaded attitude, of your ‘I’m an American—I do whatever I want’ arrogance!” She shoved a finger at David’s chest, poking it and leaning forward. Her gaze locked on his, their faces close.

“You act like some god on our grounds, like you’re doing us a big favor, honoring us with your royal presence as if we are a bunch of idiots you cannot stand. Anything that comes your way that is Romanian, you dismiss with such vehemence one might think it’s poisonous. Nothing we do or have is good enough for your nose."

“But let me tell you something, my friend. My people might not have everything so technical and so advanced, but they are good and hard-working people. They have good hearts and above all, they have dignity.

When you live for generations under communism and are treated the way we were, maybe only then you can understand what it means to be so ‘primitive’. To be given nothing and be expected to work wonders.

Your standards and ours obviously don’t match, but who are you to judge us? What do you know about us that gives you the right to treat us this way? Huh?

“And for your information, in case nobody had the courage to tell you, this is not our war.” She made a large circle with her arms. “We haven’t asked for it and we are doing you a favor allowing all of you to be on our soil.

And not vice versa.” Cassandra straightened her back, pushed away a curl that fell on her face and held her arms up. “Here you have it, I said it.”

She walked around David, opened the door and before leaving, said without looking back, “And don’t forget to write me up.”

EXCERPT #2:

David shook his head, scrunching his eyebrows. “Have you looked around, Cassandra? Do you have the smallest idea where we are?”

“Yes,” she jutted her chin up, her voice a rasp, “in a rat’s hole I don’t give a damn about. I could care less about the people here, nor want anything to do with them. This is not my war. I said it before, I’ll say it again. The only reason I’m here is for Robert, and Robert only.” She inhaled deeply, squeezing dreadful tears between her eyelids. “If you don’t want to help, that’s fine. But don’t try to stop me.” She turned to walk away, but David caught her wrist. “What—”

“Look around you. I get it you don't care about being here, or about the people, but you have a choice—the choice of staying alive and safe, here on the base. They,” he pointed at the beds, “didn't.”

Three soldiers occupied the room, one without an arm, another without a leg. The third one had bandages around his head, half of his face disfigured with burns.

Her stomach twisted, a strong taste of bile rising in her throat.

“And what am I supposed to do, David? Just sit around and wait?” She glanced at Laura who, standing in the doorway, waved a nurse not to enter.

Grateful that Laura spared her the embarrassment of being heard by others, she turned to David and said, “I have to at least try to find him, I have to.”

Her eyes burned with tears, her voice choked up. “He is somewhere out there, and must be found, alive...” Her stomach turned to a fire pit, pain forcing her to bend forward.

David grabbed her by the shoulders and for a moment, Cassandra thought he’d embrace her. Instead, he blinked quickly, pushed her slightly away and rubbed her upper arms, shaking his head, his voice heavy. “Cass ... You won’t be allowed to go anywhere. If your assignment is here on the base, in the hospital, then you'll follow orders. This is not Romania.”

She opened her mouth to speak, but David raised a hand. “There's no point in arguing, trust me.” He limped around the first bed, put gloves and a mask on and added, “Come, let's finish the rounds.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I WRITE. I LOVE. I DREAM. I WRITE.

I’m Chris’ wife, Patrick’s mom and Bella’s owner. During the day, I’m the assistant to the Director at SESE at Arizona State University, and romance’s slave at night.

I moved to the U.S eight years ago, following my heart and the man who stole it. I love comedies, historical dramas and happily-ever-after stories. English is not my native, not my second, but my third language.

Some fun facts about me:

Each year I participate in one big event that requires me to physically train. My biggest sportive accomplishment was the 3-day 60-mile Susan G. Komen Walk.

Annually I pick a color I decree my favorite (this year it’s salmon).

I refused to text until 2010, always preferring to hear voices rather than sending emotionless messages. Politic bores me to death and I have no tolerance for arrogance.

“A World Apart” is my second book. My debut novel “Hidden Heart” came out March 2011.

Episode 2: Chakra System
Part 1: The First of four level or dimensions of the universal field

Before starting to discuss healing of the first chakra, I think it would be best to go a bit deeper into the subtle energy bodies first.

The physical body is the lowest density and vibrates at the lowest frequency range and is located on the physical plane. The point of contact where the physical body interpenetrates the subtle bodies is the vehicle of our physical consciousness called the etheric double.

Prana runs along the nerves of the body and generates physical sensations that are transmitted from the nervous system into the etheric double.

Our emotions don’t originate in our physical body. Our emotions originate in our astral body and are transmitted into our bodies through the chakras. Our emotions are ranges of frequencies of Prana and impact our physical body by causing a chemical reaction within us.

Each chakra transmits Prana in a specific range of frequencies. Each frequency of Prana are interpreted with different emotions or feelings and associated with different human awareness.

A good example to help understand how the range of Prana frequencies might look, if we could see them, would be to look at a photo of a rainbow.

Looking at the rainbow photo, notice how each color blends into the adjoining colors. In the same way, each Prana frequency would correspond to a color of the rainbow and the frequencies blend into each other.

Our subtle bodies as well as our chakras are impacted by the external and internal energies. The chakras act like sensors and register the range of frequencies encountered in our environment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with the next installment on the chakras System.

• Spain: It is a unique place as a romantic getaway. The couple can relax in Paradores; these are accommodations which were former monasteries and castles. Costa del Sol has good beaches; hotels of world class caliber, set with European décor are a great attraction for romantic couples.

• Las Vegas, USA: In the state of Nevada, USA, Las Vegas has been designed as a romantic getaway. It is considered to be a hot honeymoon destination in the USA. Honeymoon suites having Jacuzzi tubs are available in hotels; cruises are available on the lake of the city. Spas offer spa treatment to those who would indulge in it. There are gondola rides reminding one of those in Venice.

• Mexico: This is another country loved as a romantic getaway. The attraction is due to the pleasant climate, beautiful beaches and luxurious accommodations. Some places to visit in Mexico are Cozumel, Cancun, Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. Resorts provide all that is needed for a romantic time.

• Tahiti: It is located in the South Pacific and is considered to be a very romantic place. Couples find enough places for intimate and peaceful time. They also have the options of hiking, safaris, snorkeling, shopping and boating all with a romantic touch.

Remember to check back tomorrow to see the artist and their four songs I select for this week’s Foreplay Friday.

Blessings,
Today, February 8, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Lani Joramo. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Lani!

**************************

First, I’m so honored to be here! Thank you, Mare, for inviting me to “chat” on your blog!

Let me begin by telling you a little about myself: I home school my nine year-old boy, who happens to be the cutest and funniest little giant in the world. I’m also a student, working on my Master’s degree in US Military History. My area of concentration is the American Revolution; more specifically I study women and Native American soldiers that fought for this nation’s independence. Lastly, I’m a writer trying to get published and have just started blogging about the ups and downs of this adventure.

I’ve been writing for most of my life. I even bound my first book with some string and ribbons. It was a lovely book made out of construction paper and crayons. I was six. The writing is less than legible, because I really didn’t know how to spell, but the pictures are pure gold!

Interestingly, my drawing skills never really improved past that age, and I believe the judge and jury are still out about my writing.

I became more serious about writing when my son was two. There is something so magical about children that will bring out creativity in droves. So I wrote. I finished my nearly 700 page coming-of-age story several years ago, and I can’t seem to stop writing since then.

My manuscript that I’ve been trying to get published for the last five hundred years is an American historical. Here’s a jacket flap explanation of the book: The first of the American Spirit chronicles catches Violet Buccleuch in Concord, Massachusetts, 1775, before she becomes immortal, when she turns from farmer to sniper.

On the cusp of her colony revolting, Violet--philosophical and tomboy-ish--is whirled from realizing her position in life versus her passion, when she meets French spy Jacque Beaumont--a man she cannot be attracted to, since she's already engaged to be married. But any kind of impractical romance on Violet's mind is turned to ashes when her sister is attacked by a conniving lobsterback.

The harder Violet tries to mend her family into what was, the more they fall apart, until they are ripped from her. Yet in the face of tragedy, she finds love. But as soon as she does it’s April 19th, and as the Battle of Lexington and Concord blasts outside her door, she decides to no longer live on chance, and takes matters into her own hands, use her own rifle to protect her new love, her life, and what will soon be called her country.

American Spirit: Chronicle I, like the Outlander series, does not fit into a definable genre, but if you had to smack a label on it, it would be an historical, a wee bit paranormal, romantic, military novel at 94,000 words. The remaining series tells of how the American Revolution was fought and won, and since Violet is immortal, similar to Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, she’s a witness to the War of 1812, The Trail of Tears, the Civil War, Emancipation, pioneering, gold rushes, the suffrage movement and on and on.

To read a chapter of American Spirit please feel free to check out my blog at Lani Joramo Blog

I’ve also written a contemporary women’s fiction titled, Woman Gone Wild. In it you’ll meet Coral Sjolander--divorcee, sociology professor, and a woman who competes with lumberjacks with her eating habits. When she starts a project analyzing the book, Women Who Run with the Wolves, the tales take on a life of their own. Can Coral survive chasing skeletons, threatening men who have blue beards, friends who lie to her, and her ultimate fear of all—passionate, wild love?

If you’d like to read a couple chapters of Woman Gone Wild feel free to check out my website at Lani Jaroma

I’ve also written paranormal mysteries, a paranormal romance, and am currently working on a time-travel historical.

Seeing as how it’s the day after Valentine’s Day, I’d like to wish everyone here a belated chocolate-filled day! In two day’s time, it will be my son’s birthday, and I’m going to snuggle my gigantic boy with a hug and tell him how grateful I am for him and all that he’s brought to me, including this huge drive to keep writing.

*******************

Thanks Lani for being my guest blogger today.

Episode 2: Chakra System
Part 1: The First Chakra – Muladhara or Root chakra

First chakra aroma therapy
Just like gemstones in last week’s post, there are several types of essential oils associated with our root chakra. The two I use while working on my root chakra are Cedarwood and Clove.

Cedarwood Oil
Cedarwood oil helps us build up energy. It also gives us a feeling of security and connectivity with our Mother Earth.

Clove Oil
Clove oil helps break up energy blockages within the root chakra. It also helps us to open up to new, fresher energies while letting go of old, no longer needed, stagnant energies of the past.

NOTE: Each essential oil has several proprieties that help us. Above I listed the one’s most familiar to me.

IMPORTANT TIP:You can utilize essential oils in many different ways. If you apply any pure essential oil(s) to your skin make sure you mix it with a carrier oil first. Some pure essential oils can cause ill effects when applied directly to the skin. Always keep ALL types of essential oils away from your eyes and the area surrounding them. Keep essential oils in a cool, dry place to get full life span usage.

Yoga and our first chakra

The two forms of yoga that mostly work through the root chakra are Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is used to prepare us for a higher form of meditation through cleansing and stimulating the physical body through certain body postures and breathing exercises.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini is also known as “snake power” coiled around our coccx. When awaken our kundalini slowly rises up our spinal column, it passes through each of our upper chakras.

Kundalini Yoga is the combination of a numerous of physical and spiritual exercises designed to awaken the snake power within each of our bodies.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with the next installment on the chakras System.

Today, February 8, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Meggan Connor. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Meggan!

**************************

Stepping in…Inspiration

Often, we writers are asked, "Where do you get your ideas?"

Granted, this question is often phrased in a variety of ways. For instance, it could be phrased as, "What inspired you to write?" or, my personal favorite, "Where do you come up with this…stuff?"

Sometime in 2010, back when I first started admitting that I was writing a book (or two or three), a friend of mine asked me that very question.

"Where do you get your ideas?"

Here's where I made my first mistake: I answered. Let me tell you, it was the last time I will ever, ever answer that question completely honestly to non-writers.

I said: "Well, here and there. Sometimes my characters talk to me, and they tell me a story."

When I say, "My characters talk to me," and I'm in a group of writers, I'll get several sage nods. Nods that say, Of course your characters talk to you, honey. Doesn't everyone's?

But your non-writer friends? Their eyes will widen, their eyebrows will lift almost to their hairlines. And the looks on their faces will not be one of sage understanding. Rather, their expressions will say, Where's the nearest exit? Because I'm pretty certain this chick wants to wear my skin as a suit. I'm too pretty to die!

So when I popped off with, "My characters talk to me," my friend looked at me like she thought I was crazy. Her eyes bounced from me to the door, and then back to me. Trying to fix it, I hastily added,

"But not in a creepy, 'kill the dog' kind of way."

For a gal who is a published author, I suffer from foot-in-mouth disease far too often.

Trying to make this better, I clarified, "Because, uh, my dogs are still alive."

I got a blank stare.

"It's not like I think my characters are real or anything. I know I made these people up. Really."

She laughed nervously.

"I'm really very stable. I swear."

Crap. Now I'm protesting my sanity too much. Always a bad sign. Dagnabbit. Act professional, Connors. The only way out of this is to look competent.

So I turned my attention to the stack of papers in front of me. "Uh, so I've been working on procedure P1101. Do you want to proof it for me?"

She glanced at the paper I extended toward her, a procedure we'd gone over so many times that I can still recite it verbatim—all six pages of it—almost two years later. Taking the paper from me, she said, "You know you sound like a nutcase, don't you?"

I rifled through the papers and nodded without looking up. "Yep."

In any case, that was the day I learned that TMI extends to my characters, too.

What about you? Do your characters talk to you, or have conversations in your head? What do they say? And would you tell your non-writer friends about it?

Back cover blurb:

When her father loses her in a poker game, Lexie Markland is sent to work in the household of Nicholas Wetherby for one year to pay off the debt. Innocent, but not naïve, she is savvy enough to know she must maintain her distance from this man, who frustrates her with his relentless teasing but whose kisses bring her to her knees. Because although she may be just another conquest to him, it’s not just her heart in jeopardy should she succumb to Nicholas’ considerable charms.

Since his brother's death almost a year before, nothing has held Nicholas’ attention for long—not women, not booze, not even an excellent hand at cards. Nothing, that is, until he meets the woman he won in a drunken night of poker. Intrigued by his prize and her chilly reserve, he makes it his mission to crack Lexie’s cool demeanor. But even as passion explodes between them, the question remains: will Nicholas be able to take the ultimate risk...and gamble on love?

Episode 2: Chakra System
Part 1: The First Chakra – Muladhara or Root chakra

First chakra sound therapy

You can use sound to activate and balance your root chakra. Monotone rhythms found in ancient tribal music works best to express this rhythm. Ancient dances serve to connect the people with nature’s energies and life forms. You can also use the sounds of nature to make your contact with nature. It’s wonderful to sit outside by a waterfall or fountain and listen to the sounds in a natural outdoor setting. But you can also purchase CD’s with the sounds of nature to suit your likings.

The vowel sound associated with our first chakra is “u” (ooh) sung in lower C. “Lam” is the mantra for our root.

First chakra color therapy

I’ve already posted that red is the color of our root chakra. Red warms, revitalizes and awakens our life force bringing us vitality and courage. In meditation, visualize red when working with your root chakra.

First chakra gemstone therapy

The following several gemstones are associated with our root chakra: Agate, Hematite, Blood jasper, Garnet, Red coral, Ruby.

Agate
Agate dissolves negative emotions and helps protect the inner self.

Hematite
Hematite is known as the stone that repels negative energy but it also revitalizes our bodies and gives us strength when in a weak state, helping us heal from illness.

Blood Jasper
Blood jasper connects us with elementary power and patient love of Mother Earth.

Garnet
Garnet opens our eyes to what is we don’t know yet and supports clairvoyance.

Red Coral
Red coral provides stability while also encouraging flexibility. This means the properties help us to stay firmly rooted within our self while also being flexible to flow with what life brings our way.

Ruby
Ruby opens us up to new forms of experiences with warm creative energies.

NOTE: Each gemstone has several proprieties that help us. Above I listed the one’s most familiar to me.

To use the gemstone, select a red stone(s), whose properties you feel most connected. Next cleanse your gemstone(s) in sea salt to release any built up negative energies. Then hold your red gemstone in your hand while meditating on your root chakra.

I find it most beneficial to clear my gemstones with sea salt, then to bathe in bath salts with my red gemstone or the gemstone associated with the chakra I’m working on at that time.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with the next installment on the chakras System.

BLURB:

Beauty and the beast: they were the scandal of the ton. All eyes feasted on the beautiful flame-haired gambler in London’s most infamous club. But Julia Prentisse was interested only in the rake-turned-recluse whom they now called “The Beast.” She lured him out of the crowded club to a deserted warehouse, where she made her scandalous offer: If he married her and protected her from her uncle, she would help him capture the arsonist who had ruined his life.

An act of heroism had left Morgan St. James burned, scarred for life, but Julia’s bold gaze lit other fires he had long suppressed. And now this glorious stranger was his bride. But when he tried to claim his husbandly rights, she demanded three months grace—three months to know a stranger’s mind, to touch a stranger’s soul, to go where no woman had ever gone before. Into his heart…

EXCERPT:

"Why did you come here?" he asked.

Gathering her courage, she ventured hesitantly, "If you're not too busy, I thought we might do something today. Together. As man and wife."

He released a bored sigh. "What did you have in mind, a waltz? Ordinarily I'd indulge your whim, but as you can see, the orchestra has temporarily abandoned its post."

"I've missed you."

The statement hung in the air between them. Morgan studied her face for a long moment. "There is a term in fencing for toying with one's opponent."

"Are we opponents?"

"Are you toying?"

"I'm not sure what I'm doing."

"Forgive me if I find that difficult to believe. I've never met a more purposeful woman in my life."

A small smile touched her lips. "Is that good or bad?"

"What do you want, Julia?"

She couldn't remember him ever using her name be¬fore. The sound of it rolling off his tongue sent an unex¬pected rush of pleasure racing through her. Idly wondering if his reaction would be the same if she spoke his name, she said, "I thought it might be nice if we spent a little time together, Morgan."

She saw something flash in his eyes, but the emotion, whatever it was, vanished too quickly for her to properly define. "Ah. So that's it."

A small, cynical smile curved his lips. His gaze moved over her body with scorching inten¬sity, as though he were able to see right through to her drawers. He straightened and glanced around the empty room, then back at her. "Interesting timing."

Heat flooded her cheeks. "I didn't mean—"

"Didn't you."

"Certainly not. Must you always be so base?"

"You're the one who came to me."

"With the simple proposition that we attend Lord Attmark's boating party this afternoon," she said, seizing upon the sudden inspiration. "That's all I had in mind."

"Lord Attmark's boating party?"

"I thought it would be quite diverting."

"Floating along a river that smells like rancid sewage in this sweltering heat. That's what you came to see me about."

"Yes."

A knowing smile curved his lips. "Liar."

"I don't know what—"

"Liar," he repeated softy.
READER REVIEWS:

With This Kiss — A Romantic Times ‘Top Pick’!

“Ms. Lynne weaves her magic to bring the reader a bit of poignancy along with a sexually charged romance in this very satisfying historical romantic suspense. Find a place for this one on your special shelf.” —Romantic Times

Nominated for Romantic Times “Best Historical Romance”

“A smoldering Victorian era romance.” —Booklist

“The unexpected twists in Ms. Lynne’s newest historical entertain and satisfy.” —Publisher’s Weekly
--

“…Trust me: A fun read for lovers of romance, and CERTAINLY for lovers of the Beauty/Beast type story (which I am). This is the only book of Ms. Lynne’s that I’ve read, but based on my enjoyment, I shall surely seek more.”

“An excellent read—I loved it! I have never read Victoria Lynne before this book. You can bet I will from now on. This book was excellent and I couldn’t put it down… If you like Jude Deveraux or Kathleen Woodiwiss, pick up this book!”

“This book is as great as the reviews! I am happy to say that it was a pleasure to read a romance that fulfills everything I look for in a novel…This was my first book by this author but I will by all means be looking for more.”

“Surprisingly good! I received this book from my sister and thought it would prove to be just another trite formula romance. She said it was “really good,” so I gave it a chance. She was right. It does have all of those necessary facets that make it a romance novel, but the writing is crisp and talented, the characters sizzle with a never flagging sexual tension, and the plot never sinks to feeling contrived or phoney. I enjoyed every page!”

“I loved this. I could write a long review of this book, but I won’t. I will sum it up in as few words as possible. This story contained two extremely likeable characters. The dialogue between them was so entertaining and well-worded. I loved every encounter between them. Everything about this novel was real. I loved it, and I can truly say it is one of my favorite novels.”

“Fabulous! With This Kiss had everything I look for in a romance—a tender hero, touching love scenes, a strong heroine, and even a mystery to solve. I will be hunting down this author’s backlist.”

“Fresh and rewarding…definitely get you hands on this book.”

“This was an extremely well-written book, with believable characters and an interesting plot…”

********************

First chakra purpose

When successfully opening the first chakra, you are open to fully accept your physical existence that comes with being born on this earth. We prepare to live in harmony and learn from the earthly forces.

The energy we receive from connecting and grounding with our Mother Earth provides us with the energy we need for creative expression, power to achieve and consistency.

Building our physical existence, seeking material security and having a family are all part of our root chakra openness. The physical act of sex is a property of the root chakra but only for the purpose of continuing our species through having children. This is different that the experience of the pleasure from sex or accepting our personal sexuality and sexual needs other than for creating a family.

The 1st or root chakra is the true access to the stored knowledge of the collective unconscious. For us to find and maintain the inner balance, we need to function in harmony with our 7th chakra.

Harmonious functioning

When we have our root chakra open and in harmony, we experience a personal relatedness with our mother earth and all of her life forms. We perceive the earth is a safe place providing everything we need.

Unharmonious functioning

If our root chakra becomes unbalanced or isn’t functioning properly for whatever reason, our thoughts and actions begin to revolve around material possessions, security and/or sensual indulgence like good food, sex, alcohol, etc.

We may begin to focus on our own personal needs without consideration or concern for other’s needs or how our behavior impacts them. We also stop being concerned with our own health, diet, etc. We can become obsessed with certain poor behaviors, even lust. If we called out about our behavior, we can become angry, irritated and lash out in violence.

Our lack of primordial trust from an unbalanced or unhealthy root chakra may be identified by using anger, rage and violence as a defense mechanism.

I hope you enjoyed today’s Chakra post. I’ll continue on next Monday with the next installment on the chakras System.

Today, January 25, 2012 is Writer’s Wednesday. My guest blogger is Casey Wyatt. Please give her a warm welcome comment.

Welcome Casey!

**************************

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’m a pretty boring person in real life. No, seriously. If I encountered any of the supernatural beings in my stories, I would probably faint! I work, take care of my family, and let my imagination run wild whenever I can. It took me a long time to even admit to my family and friends that I was a writer. I even stopped writing for a time. But, it didn’t work. The stories (mostly all unfinished) tormented me for several years. I am so happy that I finally took the initiative and finished a book!

Let’s start out by getting the name of your newest release and what genre/category it falls into?

Mystic Ink – paranormal romance. The universe is set in real life Mystic, Connecticut – if it were secretly populated with beings from mythology living among us.

Can you describe your heroine in 3 words?

Nix - Artistic, free-spirited, and irreverent.

Can you describe your hero in 3 words?

Calder - Fiery, loyal, and compassionate.

Please finish this sentence: The best thing about being an author is…

…creating a new world then sharing it with others.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced as a writer?

Hands down - doubt. And finding the motivation to create new stories. I have a full time job and there are days I have to make myself be creative. When I write the story, it comes out fast. It’s plotting that takes the most time for me. The editing process is my least favorite part because then I have to battle doubt (the –I hate this story- feeling). Or as I call him – the Doubt Monster. We battle each other on a frequent basis and I try my best not to let him get the upper-hand.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Way back in 1996, when I stopped denying that I had all these stories trapped in my head and started putting them on paper. I wrote quietly on the side for years, never really finishing anything. In late 2009, after completing my first novel (which I started in 2002!), I finally stepped out of my shell and joined a writer’s group. From there, I started entering contests (and winning some of them). At the same time I joined my local RWA chapter - the best decision I ever made!! Once I was surrounded by like-minded individuals, I truly felt like a writer. Oh, and making my first sale was the icing on the cake!

Where do you get your ideas for your books?

Ideas seem to find me. They pop into my head when I’m driving, washing dishes or doing my day job. I’ve learned to stop what I’m doing (unless I’m driving) and write the idea down. I have one, hard and fast rule – I’m not allowed to discount the idea or let doubt ruin it!

**********************

Mystic Ink Blurb:
The last thing Nix, a Sea Nymph, wants to see behind the dumpster near her tattoo shop is another dead mortal. She also doesn’t want to hear Hades piss and moan about how the souls of the dead aren’t making it to the Underworld. And Nix certainly doesn’t want to be attracted to supernatural police agent, Calder Quinne when he comes to investigate. All Nix really wants is to run her tattoo shop in peace and quiet. Hey, we don’t always get what we want, now do we?

Mystic Ink Excerpt:
For the past two weeks, Cal had tried his best not to crowd Nix. He knew she resented his presence, but it couldn’t be helped. Nereus was right to be concerned — a Destroyer’s power was vast and hard to contain. When one of Nix’s sisters had lost control, it had sent every member of The Delian League High Council, at least the ones with two brain cells to rub together, into a justified panic. Properly armed, a Destroyer could be a God killer.

“Don’t you have anything better to do besides watch dog me?” Nix stepped in from the alley. The heavy door slammed behind her with a metallic clang. A perfect echo of her grouchy attitude.

“I can’t complain. There are worse jobs.” Cal folded his arms and leaned against the kitchenette counter. The coffee pot was gurgling and pumping out its fragrant brew. Normally, Mary Swain, the receptionist made the coffee, but she hadn’t arrived yet and Cal needed something to do.

“I don’t need you hanging around. I’m fine. It’s been over two weeks since I gave up the Destroyer’s Mantle.” Nix gave him her back and rummaged through a box marked “sterile pads”. When she bent down, her blue t-shirt rode up her back, giving him an enjoyable glimpse of her tan flesh and nicely curved ass. His fingers twitched at the memories: the feel of her soft curves, the taste of her skin.

Memories she no longer retained, he reminded himself. Touching her now would earn him a slap. Or with Nix’s training, probable broken bones. Not that Cal would grope Nix without invitation. He had manners and was a gentleman. Gods or Demigods who raped unwilling mortals and Nymphs deserved to be punished.

“I think if I was going to go nuts, I would have done it by now.” She turned and tossed the box onto the counter, then swept her shoulder length hair off her neck and pinned it up with wooden sticks. Cal had seen Nix do this a dozen times already, but was always fascinated by the seemingly magical process that allowed two chopsticks to hold her hair in place.

“I know it’s all hush-hush about which sister went nuts. But I’m different from the others.” She dropped another container, labeled “Viricide”, onto the first box, where it balanced haphazardly. Cal reached out to steady the second, larger box before it crashed to the ground.

Gods, she was adorable when she was irate. Cal had known it would be hard to see Nix again but wanted the assignment anyway. In fact, if he was being honest with himself, he had maneuvered his way into getting it. A part of him hoped she would remember their earlier time together, even in some small way. But after two weeks, she still treated him like a total stranger.

After war camp ended, he and Nix frequently crossed paths at Delian League gatherings. True to form, she was the only Nereid who questioned her orders and asked pertinent questions. Unfortunately, given the nature of her duty, she never remembered any of those times.

When a Destroyer pulled on the Mantle, she lost her sense of self. After the proscribed term of duty ended, Nereus erased the Destroyer’s on the job memories to ensure her sanity. And it was a potent security measure. If one of his daughters was kidnapped, she couldn’t disclose any top secret information.

“I’m sure they have my sister locked down in the Greek God’s version of the loony bin. I don’t have any of the signs. See?” Nix crossed her pale, blue eyes and made a goofy face.

“You shouldn’t joke about such things. Talus died when your sister lost control,” Cal said, surprised to hear the bitterness in his voice. Granted, it had only been a few months since the tragedy, but after centuries, it galled Cal that he still had to work to control his emotions. The death of his best friend and partner crushed him. Cal often wondered why he had been spared.

Their mission in Central America— to stop a rogue Troll terrorizing the local populace—had gone horribly wrong when their Destroyer lost control in a crowded marketplace. Talus had put himself between the Destroyer and a group of mortal children. Cal had been steering a family to safety when the Destroyer knocked Cal aside, then plunged her hand into Talus’ chest. Even an immortal can’t live long without a heart.

His hands heated. Flames attempted to burst through his palms as his emotions overrode his self-control. A Son of Ares, he could harness fire and bend it to his will. He took a deep breath, stilling the flames before they escaped. A light touch on his shoulder brought him back to the present.

“I’m sorry for your loss. I didn’t know.” Nix’s sentiment seemed genuine and for a moment her defiant eat shit and die attitude toward him lessened. “All I’m trying to say is . . . with her, it happened while she was wearing the Mantle.”

“Your father is not taking any chances. The policy stands for good reason. If you would like a new agent assigned, I’m sure your father would accommodate you. I hear Nate Adonis is free.”

It was a low blow, using her ex-boyfriend, but he really wanted to stay with her. He had to give Nix credit. She did a good job of not reacting to the name of her former lover. Adonis was a jerk who had publicly divulged the details of their brief love affair. Details Cal could have lived without knowing. The God community’s relative smallness meant that the gossip traveled quickly; whether it was true or not, didn’t matter. He knew his own relationship disaster, with a princess in the Amazon court, was still fodder for the rumor mill.

“I don’t have a problem with you personally.” Nix handed him a carton marked ‘black ink’. “If you’re going to hang around, you can at least be useful.” Nix left him standing there, box in hand. He breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe he had a chance with her. Maybe she would remember him and their shared past.

He shook his head. He was a fool. Reclamation was always permanent. If he wanted Nix, he would have to win her heart, all over again.

The front door chimes tinkled. Then the musky scent of Satyr hit his nose.

“What the hell do you want?” He heard Nix say, anger clear in her tone.

Shit! Not good. Cal arrived in time to see her palming a watermelon sized ball of water, ready to douse the Satyr standing in the shop.
