Painted Furniture

Good Morning! Beautiful weather here lately. The Springtime always makes me want to clean out clutter, re-arrange furniture, paint, etc. Does anyone else get those "bursts" of energy too in the Spring? I have a passion that i would like to share with you. I like to paint furniture! I take a tired, plain piece and see it as a new- embellished masterpiece! I am going to enclose some of my pic's in this post. I will take some more of the painted furniture pieces i also did in another post. Decoupage is a favorite to embellish even more on a dresser, table, etc. Here are some of my pics: Here is a cocktail table that I re-painted black w/ a damask patterned top from a worn piece of furniture. My daughter used it as a table in one of her college apartments:

This was an old dining room chair- i of course painted + put leopard padding on the seat! My daughter used it for her desk chair in her apartment too!

This is a decoupaged, painted dresser. Originally all white- but now chic + funky! What do you think?

Here is my amoire in my living room i use to store my stereo + all my cd's. I searched antique stores for a piece like this.....i found it, it was very dark but in good shape! I sanded it- painted it cream w/ a bit of gold touches. I love this piece,,,,,

Here is another chest/dresser painted, embellished in soft peach/pink colors. I also added wood embellishments on the drawers (dont know if you can see). This style dresser is very popular and can fit in corners of your bedrooms.

Craft Show

Bonjour my lovelies, How is everyone doing? The springtime is slowly approaching here. We are expected to be in the 60's all week! Its nice to see the sun come up earlier too. You see im an early bird, i get up at 4:30am for work , and my body alarm clock does the same on the weekends. Does anyone else have the same problem? But its nice + quiet in the morn, good for reflection, coffee, a conversation w/ my pup-Daisy :) + a quick peek on the internet blogs, or Pinterest -my fav!

I was in a Craft Show last weekend. Now i have not been in a craft show in many years. My sis was having a fundraiser at her school and signed me up. Mind you im always creating/crafting for the home, friends, and family, but this was to sell. I will attach some pic's of my booth. I made some wreaths out of deco-mesh, some "foo-foo" wreaths out of tulle, i painted/decoupaged some pots, some ruffle scarves, and decorated some vases w/ glitter/snow-tex . Also i embellished some tote bags- "glammed" them up a bit w/ some ruffles, ribbons and a nice fluffy pin!

Some sweet gals came by + bought, and i received many, many compliments on my booth, my creations, etc. I really enjoyed meeting new creative crafters and visitors to my booth. I really got into it, tried to make my booth like a "frenchy-glam" boutique. I also bought some white bags w/ handles + painted a design on them including my (business-calling) card. This is a PASSION.....i would LOVE to do full-time!! I would love to own a lil boutique, full of beautiful things for family, your home or the holidays. Does anyone else dream like I do of their passion????? Well, i will always keep creating and embellishing the home or for family + friends! Vintage Party Dresses

Bonjour, I have a passion for vintage dresses! They are so beautiful and make a woman feel so feminine,show their curves, don't they? If i had to wear a dress to work everday, i would love to wear pretty dresses. But these days,, its dress casual. That is why i sooooooo love the MAD MEN series!!! The whole scene- clothes-hair, remind me of my mom and her wardrobe. I loved to look at her clothes of the 50's + 60's, and dream of wearing them myself! You have to have guts to carry off the Retro vintage look, and more power to those gals that do- you wear it well!!

I would LOVE to wear these daily!!" Oh honey- how was your day? Can i get you anything?"" (ha-ha....yea right, but it does make you feel all feminine!

Pearls, heels and of course the right Hair-do.....and you're a Vintage Beauty!!

Alot of time was spent on the hair-do!! Of course this was when women had more time. There are many Pin-up hair-do sites for ideas to do your fav retro style.

Doesn't it make you want to pull out some dresses?? What fun!! Online there are alot of Vintage/Retro dress sites. Pin-up + Rockabilly style is all the rage. Just fab!!

Valentines Day Decorating

Bonjour!!

Im hoping you are enjoying all the pretty Valentines Day decor! I so enjoy the festive reds and pinks and beautiful hearts! AMORE......love, love! Do you remember when you were small and how exciting it was to pick out your favorite Valentine cards for your classroom? My Mom would make me take the class list and write the names all out (even to the boys) hee hee! You hoped you received alot of Valentines and looked forward to opening them all! My 3 sisters and I always got a heart box of chocolates, a stuffed animal and a card from my Dad each year. I have made sure that my hubby, carries on this special tradition with our own 3 daughters each year also. We also try to have a festive romantic dinner w/ candles and a special meal for us all and any of their boyfriends to attend. (like a fancy restaurant) Champagne, roses, chocolates of course are on the menu- They love it!!! Do you have any traditions with your family every Valentines Day? Here are some pic's from my Valentine decor around my home. I made several of the wreaths and embellished alot of the decor in my hutch. Love to all... Spread the joy!

Christmas decor- 2011( part 1)

Welcome!! Ive been away for awhile, im so sorry. One of my resolutions this year is to post more often. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas + New Years with your family and friends. I was putting my decor away and took some final pic's. I hope you enjoy! I posted the pic's in 3 seperate postings below. This red + gold wreath is made from the deco-mesh you see all around Pinterest + blogging. I love that stuff!! I am already planning on making some for Valentines Day with the left over red mesh. I also made some for our outdoor decor- they looked lovely!

My favorite "teddy bear angel" (above) i bought years ago at a craft fair. Isn't it darling?

The wooden angel you see here (below) i made several years ago in different color schemes w/ different hairdo"s. The Christmas swag (right) is a Hobby Lobby purchase that i embellished. I LOVE Angels!

I decorate my kitchen each year with my Gingerbread collection- i love GINGERBREAD!! Does anyone else have a luv for Gingerbread? My girls enjoy adding to our collection each year and my hubby has cut-out some big wooden ones that i painted for our outdoor decor. Here is my kitchen for Christmas....

My kitchen Christmas tree is white and pink (my poor hubby) the girls and i really love it!! So do the Gingerbreads!

This is my Hutch that i sanded, re-painted + wall papered in a mellow yellow cream color...i fill it w/ seasonal items and my favorite things every month.

The pictures are a lil dark...i am so sorry, i hope you can see them. I went w/ a "winter white" theme. My antique angels (from my grandmother), my reindeer, my flameless candles, my glass vases, and white/gold poinsettas.

This is my Christmas tree this year. I went w/ a silver + gold theme this year and used my deco-mesh to fill it in and make it look fluffy + sparkly! what do you think?

Hello, yes its been awhile since i have written on this blog. I am so sorry. I have been working alot, but i have kept up with some of my new favorite social media outlets.....Twitter(jamlinelle) + Pinterest Mar(jamlinella)!! Anybody on there too? I am absolutely in LOVE with Pinterest! The creators are genius! A virtual bulletin board of your favorite things, recipes, crafts, photography, etc. Please check that site out if you have not heard of it yet......trust me you will be hooked!! Also, Twitter is fun for daily viewing. I follow some funny people, and get some viewing of what some of the "hollywood scene" are up and some fellow vintage/retro lovers, as well as some really nice people. Vintage fun

I really love vintage!! I have a few antique pieces here and there. But mostly,I like "pin-ups", the funny vintage labels, metal signs, etc. I find them funny and whimsical. I have a few I'll attach- (PLEASE be warned)...some of these have some naughty words in them, please know its all in fun, for a laugh!

I have seen some of these in a calendar and we have it up in the office. We always get alot of laughs, especially from women! I have some more that i will add here and there. The vintage look , much like Katy Perry, is awesome, isnt it? It adds a bit of whimsy to the act. Did any of you see Burlesque? I have to admit i loved all the clothes...... Decorating Beauty

Well lately ive been dreaming of bedrooms...beautiful decor, romantic. I have some pictures ive saved with some awesome decor i want to share. Ive been thinking of changing our bedroom color scheme, so my mind has been racing. I love the French Country, the Gypsy Style, my poor husband. I do consider him tho, (have left the pink + black theme to my daughters rooms). Even tho i believe the "hubs" would kinda like feeling like he stepped into Victoria Secret! (pink and black are one of my fav color combos) Right now, my color scheme is muted beige, black, gold- very comfy sorta Tuscan. But i start to get the "itch" to change it up a bit, and creating, painting, decorating are good for the soul, right? Going to Home Goods for my "decorating fix", i get many inspirations and some great deals! Dont you just love that store? And for the holidays, ahhh....they have great decorating decor. Why pay full price when you can enjoy sales all the time? Here are some pic's-

Obviously, all the drapery is a lil "much"..but your bedroom should be your luxury, your time away from the world, safe, comfy, reflecting your idea of beauty. The "hubs" may think a lil' much, especially w/ all the pillows, but im on a roll and see new paint and bedding in my future! Wish me luck....

Sunday Roast

Good Morning,,,flippin freezing here in Chi town. It feels like a Fall day, rainy, cold. So of course an adventure to the grocery store because doesnt this kind of weather make us hungry? Picked up a roast, potatoes and making box brownies, but might treat the Hub's and girls to homemade frosting. Garlic always taste good w/ a roast, i make slits in the roast and insert some peeled garlic cloves, yum....when its baking, it smells heavenly!!

Cooking at a slow oven, 350degrees, for a few hours, make a lil gravy(yes, i do cheat w/ packet gravy to stretch), mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls. Does this meal remind you of your mother's cooking on a Sunday? We always had a big meal. Not much on tv, we usually did homework, played, didnt play video games, or text, but if the phone rang..everyone ran to it! And all my sis knew who was calling because you yelled it real loud! Ahh, simple times, good food, Sunday a time to relax, enjoy your family!

Happy Mother's Day!!! My 3 daughters definitely know my sense of humor and have shared this: YOU TUBE video: w/ me last year...it is still funny to me today! I giggle when i watch it, this guy/gal has some "mom-isms" down pat! Too damn funny!! Enjoy your day..as they say motherhood is one of the hardest jobs on the planet, but also one of your biggest accomplishments! Embrace your children w/ lots of love, big hugs feel great from a mom don't they? Hug your kids today, relax, laugh, have a glass of wine,and a "Big Hug" to all you Moms out there...you're doing a great job!

Favorite Mom movies

Hi With Mother's Day coming up, it brings me thinking of some touching, funny movies w/ some of our favorite "mom" roles. Do you have any fav's? Some of my favorites are: Steel Magnolia's....love Sally Field in that role, always brings tears and laughter! You can really feel her joys, fears and pain for her daughter, played by a young Julia Roberts. The roles of Dolly Parton, Shirley Maclain and Olympia Dukakis join this group of southern female friendship- all play off each other so great! The location in the South for the background of the movie is beautiful too..makes you want to live in one of those huge southern mansions.

I also love : Terms of Endearment, the Shirley Maclain role, she is a darn funny,mother to a young Debra Winger but also again you can relate to her fears, joys, love and pain for her daughter. Jack Nicholson is also in that movie, a real great role-classic, and the character play between Jack and Shirley is awesome to watch!

A few years back, i watched The Joy Luck Club...since it is in subtitles, i was caught a bit of guard but, i really got into that movie...it follows generations of women and their culture, growing up, marriage, children, and the relationships betwen mother and daughter. It is a bit long, i believe almost 3 hours, but worth the watch. It is narrated along the movie and you really get involved w/ all these women and their touching stories.

The Royal Wedding

Hello! Well did you all get up early to watch the Royal Wedding? I am usually up very early in the a.m. for work, so i put the coffee on, sat, and watched. It was enjoyable wasn't it? The music, the church, those hats....and Kate's smile is contagious! I thought her dress totally fit her personality. Some thought it was plain, but i thought it was classic, feminine and elegant. Did you wonder what they were thinking? Did she realize all this coverage would be upon her? I imagine it would be overwhelming! We all wish them happiness and many blessings! Thanks for giving us some joy and a chance to share in your special day!

Hello, my name is DaisyMay, my owners at Jamlinelles Joys wanted me to give a shout -out,"woof-woof"! I just came in from the dark, muddy, rainy backyard, hmmm lotsa worms. My neighborhood animal friends and i are very unhappy...we sure are missing the sunshine. All the birds are hiding, alongwith the squirrels,so they are not teasing me today! I do sit very patient at the door tho to get my wet, muddy paws wiped...i sometimes give the "sad eyes" too, which gets me an extra treat! (hee-hee) Soon the Easter Bunny will be coming, i wonder if im going to get a basket or a new bone? I always know where the eggs and baskets are hidden....but shhhhh..i don't tell. Well, nice meeting you, you might see some more of me as i kinda like to take pictures! Does my shiny coat look pretty?

Brownie Caramel Bars

I was in the mood for something gooey + caramel. I know these aren't great for the ol' fillings, but i had some Kraft caramels and needed to use them up. I've had this recipe for awhile and see it posted on some other delicious recipe sites/blogs. Its very easy, but i had to keep mine in the fridge and i would be certain

to spray the pan w/ Pam to help with getting these babies out of the pan. If you like caramel, you will

enjoy this recipe.!

BROWNIE CARAMEL BARS
1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix
1/3 cup evaporated milk

1/2 cup melted butter

1-13oz pkg Kraft Caramels (around 50)
1/3 cup evaporated milk

1 cup of Milk Choc Chips

1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Stir together your dry cake mix, melted butter and evaporated milk.
(don't be afraid to use your hands to get it all mixed.) Press half of this mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x 13 pan. Bake for approx 6 min.

2) Melt your unwrapped caramels in a medium sauce pan with 1/3 cup evaporated milk over medium heat.
Set this aside.

3) Take your milk choc chips and sprinkle them over your baked crust. Drizzle the caramel mixture over
the milk choc chips. Sprinkle (can use your hands to crumble) the other half of the cake mixture on top of
the caramel. Bake for approx 16-18 min. Let cool completely. Can refrigerate to set, then cut up into small
squares. These are gooey and very rich w/ a hint of the German Chocolate Cake flavor.

Donuts

Okay....i love sweets!!! i'll admit i have a sweet tooth. Anybody with me? My 3 girls enjoy sweets also,
but "the hubs", doesnt have a sweet tooth. He is an enabler tho..."hon, you want a coffee?" "Sure!" Comes home w/ Dunkin Donuts french vanilla and a donut or munchkins!!! (Yes!! ) Does he have any?? NOOO...
When a Krispy Kreme was nearby (it closed boo-hoo),on a cold, winter night, he would say to the girls, "you want some donuts?" (YEA! ) Off he'd go to get a dozen fresh, warm glazed donuts that would melt in your mouth. Yummm...... would he eat any? Noooo...But,I'm very thankful for his thoughtfulness + awareness of my love of sweets + hips. Ahhh...the joys!!

Easter decor and projects

Here are some wreaths i made to add to the "spring fling" around the house...the 'foo-foo"ones are just made w/ netting strips tied to an embroidery hoop. An easy project to do while watching tv or relaxing listening to your fav tunes. Hobby Lobby carries netting in spools of many different colors. You could mix and match the colors to the season and of course add any embellishments for some "bling"! These would look cute in a little girls room too, wouldn't they?

Easter Decor

Hello!

Easter decorating began about a week ago. I so enjoy the yellows and pinks and the cute

bunnies! Here a few pic's of whats up around the house. This cabinet i stripped and painted
a soft yellow w/ a pinkish glaze. I then modpodged some paper to the back of the shelves.
I usually have all seasonal items in their along with some battery operated candles (for safety).
It is in our dining room, a focal point especially for the holiday decor. Do any of you have a
special cabinet for all your fav holiday items?

Hi! Is anyone rooting for our gal Kirstie Alley for Dancing with the Stars?? She is sassy, funny and pretty too! I give her alot of credit as i know i too put on a few lil "hip" pounds as I've gotten older, but she surely has guts! I love the funny faces she makes on camera. Sorta like you can read what she's really thinking or wanting to say, you know? Kirstie-you go girl!!
