Guerlain lanceert een limited edition van Idylle Duet, een variant op de bestaande Idylle in Eau de Parfum waarin Bulgaarse Roos en Indische Patchouli dominerend zijn in de hoofdnoten.
In de loop van april/mei zal deze gelanceerd worden.
Een must have voor alle Idyllefans!

Thierry Wasser, de huisparfumeur van Guerlain haalde zijn inspiratie voor deze creatie uit het boek van Hector Berlioz uit1841: "Les Nuits d'Ete"

Thierry Wasser, parfumeur van het Huis Guerlain, is zijn roos gaan zoeken bij de bron, in de Bulgaarse valleien waar haar betoverende kracht bij het aanbreken van de dag zijn hoogtepunt bereikt.
Al driehonderd jaar bloeit de Bulgaarse roos met haar dertig bloemblaadjes in het gebied tussen Kazanlak, Kalofer en Karlovo.

Al driehonderd jaar wint de plaatselijke bevolking de kostelijke nectar.

En al driehonderd jaar, wanneer tussen juni en juli het plukseizoen nadert, stromen de zigeuners toe, sluiten
de scholen en komen hele families de miljoenen bloemkronen plukken.

De roos van de Eau de Toilette Idylle is geboren uit de “communelle” die Thierry Wasser samen met zijn “geestelijke vader" Jean-Paul Guerlain heeft samengesteld. Wat “communelle” is? Een mooie naam voor een alchemie gecreëerd door twee personen… Laten we zeggen een assemblage.

Een groot parfumeur kiest zijn etherische oliën zoals de oenoloog zijn cru’s kiest: op basis van de herkomst, de producent en het moment van de oogst. In dit geval de minieme vochtigheid afkomstig van de bergen, de schaduw geworpen door de wolken, de lenteregen en zelfs het natuurlijke waslaagje dat als een sluier de bloemblaadjes beschermt, alles draagt bij tot de constante uitmuntendheid van de essence, die na de distillatie meer dan een maand rust, zoals een mooie wijn slaapt in het vat.

In die zin draagt de Eau de Toilette Idylle een duidelijke signatuur en is van top tot teen Guerlain in hart en ziel.

Deze perfecte bloem, sensueel zonder wellustigheid, geurig zonder stroperigheid, fruitig zonder omwegen, wordt in een later stadium gecombineerd met het akkoord dat door Jean-Paul werd samengesteld nadat
hij in een tuin in Plessis-Robinson een schitterende roos had ontdekt met het krachtige aroma van vroeger.

In tegenstelling tot het algemene gebruik om de verschillende versies van een geur te variëren door deze slechts in meer of mindere mate te verdunnen, is de alternatieve uitvoering van een geur bij Guerlain altijd een
nieuw opus dat zeer zorgvuldig herschreven is. Zelfs de gouden druppel van de flacon en de verpakking onderscheiden zich van de oorspronkelijke door hun helderheid.
Dit nieuwe opus is dus uitbundiger, meer “neroli–fresia”, maar ook groener, “directer” en frisser, alsof het zijn staatsiegewaad had afgelegd. Bijna naakt omgeeft de geur zich met meer dan vederlichte, naar huid geurende musknoten en de chypre wordt omstrengeld door ylang-ylang die subtieler is van de zucht van een kus.

Ik vind Idylle in EDT veel frisser en groener dan de EDP - waar ik verleden jaar een artikel over heb geschreven voor Fragrantica.

Het artikel is in het Engels geschreven maar binnenkort wordt deze site ook in het Nederlands gelanceerd!

Shalimar "Ode à la Vanille"

Elk jaar brengt Guerlain een tweetal gelimiteerde edities van "Shalimar" in Eau De Parfum uit. Echt geweldige uitvoeringen die elke Guerlainfan koestert als goud.

Maar nu wordt er een gelimiteerde editie gelanceerd - Shalimar "Ode à la Vanille - waarbij de compositie van Shalimar anders is.

Er zijn twee vanille's aan toegevoegd die deze creatie zo speciaal maken. Vanille uit Mayote, die vrij licht en transparant is én vanille uit Madagascar, zeer verleidelijk en wat animalistisch.

Shalimar "Ode à La Vanille" is een ode aan deze twee uitzondelijke vanille's en komt tot uiting op de huid als een zeer verleidelijke, zoete en lichte geur die toch diep is en zeer intens.

Deze gelimiteerde oplage komt in een prachtige blauwe doos, in het nieuwe flesje van 50 ml dat ontworpen is door Jade Jagger.

Ik heb mijn exemplaar al laten reserveren bij Planet Parfum op de Keyserlei in Antwerpen, net om de hoek waar ik woon.
De meeste parfumerieën die Guerlain verdelen kunnen de parfums die ze niet courant in de winkels hebben makkelijk bestellen.

Alles wat niet to de Exclusieve Collectie behoord kunnen zij voor jou bestellen - al moet je soms wel even wachten - maar dat maakt wel dat je niet ver moet gaan voor je flesje "Jicky", "Chamade", ... .

Natuurlijk is een bezoek aan "Maison Guerlain" in Parijs een niet te evenaren ervaring!

Arsène Lupin "Dandy" & "Voyou"

Guerlain heeft twee nieuwe parels toegevoegd aan "Les Exclusifs":

Arsène Lupin Dandy en Arsène Lupin Voyou.

Aristocraat, dief en minnaar. Hij is de koning van de insluipers… Zijn overvallen zijnals een gestolen kus. En wanneer hij vrouwen berooft (die vaak droomden letterlijk door hem te worden uitgekleed), stuurt hij ze bloemen. Een onverbeterlijke verleider, boudoirbandiet en geparfumeerde indringer, die verlangens, zuchten en… zijn visitekaartje achterlaat.

Iedereen is dol op Arsène.

Litteratuurfanaten, die het werk van Maurice Leblanc hebben verslonden. Muziekfans, die door de knieën gaan voor de charme van onze held, bezongen door Jacques Dutronc die deze vermetele dandy tot in de perfectie belichaamt. Kinderen, die ervan dromen voor gentleman-dief te spelen. De mannen die het graag hadden willen zijn. En vrouwen die niets liever zouden willen dan hun hart door hem te laten stelen.
Met recht een hartendief en bovendien onverwoestbaar: Garou heeft onlangs nog een album aan hem gewijd en de magie werkt nog steeds. Dat bewijst wel dat we ons stierlijk vervelen, dat de alledaagsheid ons verstikt, dat een vrijbuiter voor twee telt en we er graag met hem vandoor zouden gaan.

Arsène durft alles, maar altijd op een elegante manier. Hij is een Robin Hood in smoking. Des te beter!

Jean-Paul Guerlain, die genoeg van boeken en vrouwen houdt om alle avonturen van Arsène gevolgd te hebben, heeft zich door zijn legende laten inspireren en er een geur van gemaakt. Of liever twee. Want met Arsène Lupin kun je niet voorzichtig genoeg zijn! Verwacht je hem in de salon, dan rent hij met zijn buit onder de arm over het dak. Denk je dat hij met zijn vingers aan de brandkast zit, dan houdt hij die van een dame vast.

Laten we eerlijk zijn, twee grandioze, super-Guerlain geuren om deze held met zijn twee gezichten uit te beelden: Dandy en Voyou. Maar pas op, want met Arsène kan de dief zich heel goed voordoen als een dandy, en omgekeerd.

Arsène Lupin laat zijn visitekaartje achter, zoals een geur zijn uitstraling achterlaat.
Jean-Paul Guerlain heeft er twee voor hem gegraveerd. Beide onvergetelijk. In zijn eigen stijl en waarin het mooiste van de Guerlain traditie, de zuiverste creativiteit en een onmiddellijk herkenbaar karakter zijn terug te vinden, signeert hij Dandy, luxueus leerachtig oriëntaals, en Voyou, pittig houtachtig-aromatisch.

Dandy op goed geïnformeerde liefhebbers die zeker zijn van hun smaak;

Voyou op jonge mannen die een mooie “olfactieve verovering” willen maken…

Abeille Royale - Revolutionaire Anti-Aging!

Guerlain is altijd innoverend geweest op gebied van verzorging en is altijd een stap voor geweest op creëren van excellente producten om de schoonheid te behouden en te accentueren.

Het nieuwe serum "Abeille Royale" is hier weeral een uitstekend voorbeeld van!

Guerlain legt voor de eerste keer de focus op het bestaan van deze microscheurtjes. Zij verklaren de verzwakking van de lederhuid en veroorzaken huidveroudering door plaatselijk verlies aan huidsubstantie.
De microscheurtjes zijn het gevolg van weefselbeschadiging veroorzaakt door inwendige spanningen en stress. Naarmate we ouder worden slaagt de huid er niet meer zo goed in om zichzelf alleen te herstellen, zij “heelt” haar inwendige microbeschadigingen minder goed, met als gevolg rimpels en verlies aan stevigheid.
Om deze verschijnselen tegen te gaan moet het vermogen van de huid om zelf deze “microscheurtjes” te herstellen worden geheractiveerd.

De bij is de hoeksteen van het evenwicht van de flora. Zij bestuiftde bloemen, is de schildwacht van het milieu en het symbool van het leven en de ziel…
Deze “apotheekster” van de natuur heeft sinds lang ver vlogen tijden de geschiedenis van de mensheid begeleid.

De bij, ontstaan uit de tranen van de zonnegod Râ, is in de hiëroglyfen te zien in de cartouches van de farao’s van Neder-Egypte. Zij was het symboolvan Artemis (de godin van de vruchtbaarheid), maar ook van het Beloofde land en de opstanding van Christus. Als de bezielende kracht van hemel en aarde is zij het embleem van koninklijke macht: de koninklijke standaard van de vader van Clovis (de Merovingische koning Childerik I) en daarna van Lodewijk XII.
In aansluiting op dit oudste symbool van soevereiniteit laat Napoleon Bonaparte de bij in 1804 aanbrengen op zijn keizerlijke mantel en vervolgens op de gouden wapenschilden van de hoogwaardigheidsbekleders.

Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain verbindt het bestaan van Guerlain voor eeuwig aan de bij en maakt er zijn kenmerk van…
In 1853 draagt deze geniale parfumeur de met goud gelakte bijen, symbolen van het keizerrijk, versierde Eau de Cologne Impériale op aan keizerin Eugénie, de echtgenote van Napoleon III, als hulde aan haar schoonheid. Vanaf dat moment wordt hij de Hofleverancier en de officiële parfumeur van de grote Europese hoven.
Van generatie tot generatie en tot de dag van vandaag staat de bij nog altijd gegraveerd in het leven en op de bijzondere flacons van het Huis Guerlain.
Toen al was hij overtuigd van en geboeid door de rijkdom van de bijenproducten en hun genezende kracht en maakte hij er schoonheidsproducten van zoals in 1840 de “Pâte d’Amande au Miel”, een zalf om de huid te verfraaien die een groot succes kende.

Honing, een natuurlijk product en een universeel ingrediënt, wordt van oudsher beschouwd als symbool van rijkdom en leven door alle grote beschavingen. Het werd gebruikt om wonden te verzorgen en is nog altijd sterk aanwezig in de traditionele geneeskunde.
Honing staat niet alleen bekend om zijn medicinale, antiseptische en helende eigenschappen, er wordt ook een verzachtende werking op de huid aan toegeschreven.
De bij ontrekt aan de natuur producten met fantastische herstellende eigenschappen. Experimenten uitgevoerd in ziekenhuizen, vooral de bijzonder opmerkelijke experimenten van Professor Bernard Descottes, hebben aangetoond dat bepaalde bijenproducten een natuurlijke helende kracht bezitten.
Een uniek experiment en een doorslaggevende ontmoeting voor de Researchafdeling van Guerlain. Professor Descottes, hoofd van de afdeling viscerale chirurgie en transplantatie van het universitaire ziekenhuis van Limoges, experimenteert al 25 jaar met honingpleisters en heeft honderden soorten getest afkomstig uit de hele wereld. Hij heeft meer dan 3000 patiënten behandeld, met name die welke niet of niet goed reageerden op behandelingen met producten uit de klassieke farmacopee. Zo heeft hij aangetoond dat het gebruik van honing een veel snellere genezing bewerkstelligde.

Om inzicht te krijgen in de subtiele en complexe natuurlijke vergelijking die bepalend is voor de doeltreffendheid van de bijenproducten, heeft de Researchafdeling van Guerlain een grootschalig programma opgezet van screening van honing en koninginnebrij over de hele wereld en heeft besloten daarbij de volgende drie criteria in aanmerking te nemen: de kwaliteit van het milieu, de biodiversiteit en de genetische eigenschappen van de bij.
Dit wetenschappelijke programma was voor de Researchafdeling van Guerlain aanleiding om zich te omringen met de beste specialisten op het gebied van bijen en hun producten en om nauwe samenwerkingsverbanden aan te gaan waarin verschillende dimensies zijn opgenomen: De herkomst van de bijen: de typen bijen en de verschillende ecosystemen waarin ze honing verzamelen; De chemische samenstelling van honing, tot aan het identificeren van de minderheidsbestanddelen; De biologische eigenschappen van honing en koninginnebrij en in het bijzonder de effecten op de stofwisseling van de huid.

De formule van het ABEILLE ROYALE is een waar hoogstandje dat het onverzoenbare verzoent door een ongelooflijke rijkdom aan herstellende werkstoffen te verwerken in een “olie in water” -emulsie met een buitengewoon zinnenstrelende textuur.
Dit emulsieserum wordt onmiddellijk door de huid opgenomen, geeft een fris gevoel en laat aan het huidopper vlak slechts een onwaarneembare film achter waardoor de huid uiterst aangenaam aanvoelt.
De waterfase van de emulsie zorgt voor het verfrissende effect dat onmiddellijk een gevoel van ontspanning geeft. Tegelijker tijd geeft een oliefase, aangepast aan de innoverende formule, de textuur zijn essentiële beschermende en voedende functie en voorziet deze de emulsie tevens van de eigenschappen waardoor zij
zich buitengewoon goed laat uitstrijken en snel in de huid trekt.
Kortom, een emulsieserum waarin, door de uiterste doeltreffendheid en de zinnenstrelende ervaring, alle knowhow van Guerlain tot uiting komt om een product te creëren dat alles tegelijk is:

“vloeibaar en melkachtig”,
“vol en fris”,
“beschermend en luchtig”,
“licht en opvullend”

Bij Guerlain gaat de creatie van een verzorgingsproduct altijd samen met het verfijnde werk van de parfumeur. De totale ontplooiing van alle knowhow om het ervaren van kostbare ogenblikken te kunnen bieden.
Het uitgangspunt van deze zonnige nectar is een bijen-absolute met de lichte, frisse geuren van honing. Hieraan wordt weer klank geboden door de voedende geruststellende noten van gele veldbloemen: mimosa en brem. Hiermee was het hart van de geur geschetst. Vervolgens heeft de parfumeur het werk van de bij voortgezet door in de lucht de omringende geuren te gaan verzamelen, de frisse grasaccenten die de geur haar luchtigheid, haar glimlach en haar uitstraling geven.

Abeille Royale wordt in de loop van de maand September - Oktober gelanceerd maar is al verkrijgbaar bij "Haute Parfumerie Place Vendôme" in Wevelgem.

Zelf heb ik het produkt nog niet uitgetest maar de mensen die het al gebruikt hebben vertelden me dat het een fenomenaal product is!

The last post from Sylvaine Delacourte on her blog "Esprit de Parum, le blog de Sylvaine Delacourte" is just great to read! I have been writing about Haute Parfumerie Place Vendôme, but it is just great she shared her experience about this fabulous place!

I had a wonderful experience in "parfumerie", lost in Flanders, in a village called Wevelgem half an hour driving from Lille. A village that frankly does not deserves a visit.
In this contrast, the boutique 'Place Vendome' is a traditional "parfumerie", which is really moving!

David, the owner that I hknow already for 15 years, invited me to the re-opening of the new shop.
This event took place for 4 days!

His shop exists for 20 years, he has given a it a complete facelift and expansion of over 100m ².
It is an true event for Guerlain.

This is the only boutique in Belgium, which will include the exlusives of Guerlain.

We now have now the 13th "Guerlain" shop in our network including the boutiques in Paris.

You can find all the exclusives: 'Art et la Matière', les élixirs charnels, les parisiennes and les parisien, le scret de spohie, but also the crystal fountain: Mon précieux Nectar, a giant Mitsouko fleur de Lotus with his jewel, and the private collection, starting at 25ooo euro, etc..

Beside our own space, there are also who are dedicated to Chanel, Annick Goutal and Amouage.

Why this place is exceptional?

An abundance of exclusive and rare bottles and Swarovski crystal chandeliers, a decorating dream!

But what is unique is the 'service' offered by David and his two friends, Steven and Marius.

When i did travel in the past, professional and personal, I visited many perfume stores of different styles, but this is a unique experience!

David is amazing, I never met a man so passionate about fragrance, and more, unbeatable!

He combine many qualities:
He has "a feeling", he is charming and endearing.

His clients gave him countless gifts champagne galore, baskets of flowers, chocolates ... .
This really proves this.

The large treatment room was filled to the brim' with gifts! It looked like it was a marriage!

He also has a perfect knowledge of cosmetics and make up. He's is a good technician who practices very good care and makeup.

He selects the products and rare pieces accurately, he chooses his marks.
You'll find the best brands, brands really 'niche', products he likes!
He will never let impose him by a product he doesn't like because David just say no!!!

David is an outstanding advisor, his clients come from all over, passing through Flanders, they also come from the region of Lille.

I think David is the" best extract seller in Europe"! His clients are extremely faithful, I dare not tell you how many customers it has in its database!

He confessed to me that he had written, with his beautiful handwriting, all the invitations by hand.
It took him weeks!

His gifts and attention are sought: with ribbons, fresh flowers, sometimes a surprise every time with his"twist" and creativity.

And finally, the icing on the cake, he is of extreme generosity, he pampers his customers and the people he likes.

Yes, I know. It is unlikely that you would pass there but I really felt a great pleasure to rediscover this temple of 'Haute Parfumerie' and to share this event with them.

David and his two friends really deserve this success and prove that the crisis is not really important, this provided by a combination of passion and professionalism.

It still exists in this world of fragrange stores, "oases "where miracles happen,
and it's incredible this takes place in a small, lost village in FLANDERS!

Boutique Guerlain with "The Eclusives" and "The Private Collection" at "Place Vedôme - Haute Parfumerie" in Wevelgem, Belgium

I knew it already for a while that it would going to happen, but I was so happy and honoured to receive a invitation, enclosed in a hadwritten envelope, from "Place Vedôme" in Wevelgem to visit their new store.

The shop has recently been refurbished and is turned into a Guerlain Boutique.
This very special place for fragance lovers is very known, and has a very good reputation.

The shop opens back again on Thursday 17th September 2009.

Imagine yourself, a collection of Guerlain that is only available at 18 places in the whole world... .

I am very excited! And I will keep you updated!

I was suprised by the amazing bottle of "Shalimar Oiseau de Paradis", launched recently.

The nice dark blue colour of the bottle, feathers and ribbon also in that mysterious blue.

Shalimar, timeless and suprising as it is, time after time, like you discover every time you apply it, a new world. But a world that is so pretty, familiar, sensual and full of desire that you daring to show in the most extra-ordinary but a discreet way your deepest inner self.

The latest new creation of Guerlain created by Thierry Wasser, has the wonderful name "Idylle".
It is a very floral creation, and the bottle is designed by Ora Ita, while the advertizing campaign is in hands by Paolo Roversi.

"A bouquet of lilies of the valley, peonies, fressias [sic], lilacs and roses.

A blend of Bulgarian roses.

A Chypre signature of patchouli and white musk, a contemporary interpretation of the Guerlinade.

Thierry Wasseur created this fragrance using the Bulgarian rose as a star ingredient, in Guerlain’s Perfumer tradition he selected personally the very best roses ensuring the exceptional quality of the fragrance." (source:"Now Smell This")

Insolence is one of the latest most indulging creations of the House of Guerlain.
It is one of my favorite scents for the moment, I must admit I am addicted to the scent on my skin.
Even as a man, it is amazing to wear it, because the olfactory piramid has been deconstructed with three dominant notes: Violet, Red Berries and Iris. The Violet really dominates the "Spiral" structure of the creation, and on my skin it develops constantly into a new refreshing scent.
Insolence is like a cut diamond of a very high quality. It has so many facets, and every person who I already have let it try, experience it in his or her own way.

I don not like to compare Guerlain with another brand, but I will compare for once Insolence with "Love In Black" from the House of Creed. Both perfumes contain Violet. But it is the "Spiral" structure of Insolence that is so renewing. "Love in Black" is a fantastic creation, but keeps the pyramid structure.

Both are pure and natural, but Guerlain has innovated again. Like always they dare to challenge theirselves, and keep the artistic spirit of continious perfection and innovation alive.

Insolence is pure class and created with respect to the tradition of the House. Do I even notice the "Guerlinade" in the fragrance... ?

And offcourse, when a scent like Insolence, that is so refreshing and new, comes into the hands of critics and the so called experts, it must have been shocking. Even for me, it was a bit of a revolution when I had a snif for the first time. But I always keep in mind, a good perfume, that has been created with passion, you need to try at least 3 times before you can make up your mind.
I will never forget the day, that I tried Shalimar for the first time, and I was disgusted by it. Just after an hour of two later, when I took a snif on my hand again I discovered the mystery of it. And I felt in love. A love like with Insolence, that will last forever!

The blog gives you so many information about Guerlain, the perfumes,notes, tradition and history.
It also gives and idea what Sylvaine is passionate about and what she transform into her work.

A great blog, keep on following it, it is in French, but just learn some French then. :-) It is a beautiful language and very passionated, just like a Guerlain Creation.... .

Guerlain Kiss Kiss lipstick is packaged deliciously glamorously. The chic gold case was the first thing that attracted me. After trying a few different reds, my favourite is Insolence De Rouge, number 522. It's a true bright red, a cheerful yet mysterious shade. It speaks of flashbulbs and long carpets leading to exclusive premieres. Creamy texture, inoffensive smell, lasts a lot longer than you'd imagine. If I could only own one red lipstick this is it.

Always exfoliate your lips before putting on lippy. Either use your wet toothbrush or a make-up remover wipe. When applying red lipstick, it is helpful to start by putting red lip liner all over your lips, as if it were your lipstick. Use a professional lip brush to then apply the lipstick colour over the lip liner.

Custom Made Perfume

Everything begins with a one-to-one meeting with Sylvaine Delacourte. By asking precise questions she will determine your olfactory heritage: that of childhood, of adolescence or of adulthood. The consultation continues. Using a set of cards providing different photographs of nature, ambiances, textiles and raw materials, she refines her inquiry. “The client’s choice allows me to confirm and validate her suggestions, to obtain more information by using images”, explains Sylvaine Delacourte. “I continue this exercise by asking the client to choose two fabrics out of satins, gauzes, silks and paisleys, and to explain her choice. Finally I ask her to smell accords with chypres, oriental fragrances, musks, woods, etc.” At the end of the meeting, the client returns home with a small booklet containing three accords that she has selected. This first appointment is followed by two fittings (as in haute couture), at which the perfume is fine-tuned. The final perfume will be ready after six months at the earliest, and sometimes after a year. You are provided with three litres of ’your’ fragrance. According to your inclinations, you can choose from an extract, a perfume or an eau de toilette. The precious liquid is stored in different Baccarat crystal flasks which you can buy for 30,000 euros upwards.

Returning to its tradition of custom-made perfumes, Maison Guerlain offers to make a dream come true: to have your own unique perfume, designed according to your wishes and for your lifetime. Nonetheless, you must be patient before you can be granted this treasure. Those of us who do not have the time to devote to designing a custom-made fragrance can nevertheless select the perfume of our dreams from Guerlain’s Private Collection, a cornucopia of exclusive perfumes. The formula will remain a secret and will only be recreated for the person for whom it was made.

Cruel Gardenia

I was looking on the internet about the perfumes made by Sylvaine Delacourte for Guerlain and Google directed me to fragrantica.com.

Because I love gardenia, i have read the following post on their site about "Cruel Gardenia".

"Cruel Gardenia is one of the fragrances of Guerlain's L'Art et La Matière collection, and as the people of the Guerlain house say, it is 'on the verge of cruelty' and 'stuns with its diabolical power'.

It was launched and presented in 2008 together with fragrance for men, L'Âme d'Un Héros. It was created by two noses, Randa Hammami and Sylvaine Delacourte. It is designed in a way that its notes 'sunny, silky, smooth and lingering...can become an obsession'.

Unlike the usual tradition, the creators of this fragrance did not strive towards the richness of notes that gardenia creates when combined with the precious light musk which would give velvety soft aura... In the contrary, Cruel Gardenia is like an arrow that aims directly at the heart and stays there forever."

The Last time I was in "Maison Guerlain" it was not released yet, so I have not tried it out.

So a call to you all. If you have tried it, use it, let me know!

I could ask to Guerlain to send me a sample of every perfume that they release every time, but I don't know if I would be that honoured... . It would be wonderful it they would do.

In the 180 year that Guerlain exists, it has been supplier to many courts and it has mad perfumes for many famous people.

Honoré de Balzac asked Guerlain to create a perfume for him alone, the scent by which the author would write César Birotteau.

Guerlain so made the step to start as first Perfume House to make personalised perfumes.

By 1840 Guerlain was serving customers over whole Europe and was Royal Supplier to the Belgian Queen and The Prince of Wales.

Also Queen Isabella of Spain and Queen Victoria are being mentioned.

I have heard a story that Empress "Sisi" from Austria also ordered products at Guerlain, and one of them was a cold cream based on strawberries "Crème aux Fraises".

In the mid 1800's Guerlain was the most fashionable but also most expensive perfumer in Paris, due to the top quality of products and the excellent service.

In 1853,Guerlain created his Eau de Cologne Impériale, for the Empress Eugénie. The story tells that she wanted a fragrance to relieve her from her migraine. Guerlain was granted the title of supplier to Emperor Napoleon III.
The "Bee Bottle" is in use since then, because this was the symbol of Napoleon III.

During the years, Guerlain must have had an still has a lot of famous people and member of Royal families who love their perfumes.

Is it true that Sean-Connery is a huge fan of Jicky?
Is L'heure Bleure not the perfume of Cathérine Deneuve?
How many celebs do not wear Shalimar or Mitsouko?

Après L'ondée must be still adored by many.
I guess that this must be one of the favorites of Queen Elizabeth II.
Being outside on Balmoral after a heavy rain? This is just a fantasy of me.
After making this post, I have been told by a dear friend in Paris that Guerlain has created "Ode" only for her.

I would like to now so many gossips, but i prefer some real facts... .
Even if they are mysterious. Guerlain is a mystery.
Guerlain is Tradition. Guerlain is magnificant!

Orchidée Impériale

When this product was launched in 2006, I was a devoted Crème de La Mer user.
I use to in the UK then, and i asked a sample to the Sales Representative in Harvey Nichols.
She was so kind to give me five of them! I was already a valued customer, because I could not resist buying a perfume everytime i was there.

I used it until the samples where empty, and I was suprised by the difference of my skin tone and texture. This cream is not greasy and much easier to apply. I immediately loved it. The nice odeur, the texture and the very fast results. So I was not planning to throw away my jar of Crème de La Mer, and used it at night, while I bought a "box" of Orchidée Imperialé cream for during the day.

I still use it, and I will keep on using it. I will get very angry and have a crisis if they ever will get this product of the market! It is miraculous!

Smell it! Feel it! Enjoy it!

Cologne du 68

When I was last year at the Flagship Store of Guerlain in Paris, I noticed a very big bottle of "Cologne du 68". It was only available in 500 ml.
It is recently launched in Belgium in 100 ml bottles, so I could not resist to buy it.

It contains fresh spices of cardamom and coriander blended with citrus fruits are warmed with hot spices of pepper and ginger for an everlasting scent.

The fragrance was named after the address of the Guerlain Flagship Store on 68 Champs-Elysées, Paris, and a sumptuous composition with 68 of the finest raw materials gathered from all over the world. I have been told, it was created after they have refurbished and renewed their shop.
I will tell you more soon about my experience at visiting "Maison Guerlain".

Anyhow, "Cologne du 68" is a must have! You will love it. Indulge yourself with a very special cologne, who has more the long lasting effects of an EDT.

As a man, I love to wear Shalimar. It is one of my favorites.
No perfume can be defined male or female, it's a personal choice.
For me is Shalimar a sublime cocktail of the Guerlinade with other notes, so mysterious, that it has reached one of the highest levels in the art of perfuming.
