The Jones Family

October 2010 Part 1

2011-05-08T11:18:00.000-05:00

October flew by for us...it was Kenny's first hitch in Africa and a bunch of first for the boys and me by ourselves. We missed Kenny a lot but was able to make it through the month.

We went and watched Maddie compete in Lawton and she placed in one of her events.

Jacob received a ribbon for participating in the pine wood derby for Boy Scouts.

Jacob figured out how to ride his bike by himself with no training wheels....YEAH Jacob!!!!

Jared loved riding bubba's scooter while Jacob rode his bike but it was a little too big and we had our first crash....OUCH!!!

So we went to Wal-Mart and got our first big boy bike...

We took Jacob his favorite meal to school for his birthday....peperoni pizza.

Then Jared went out and played with him on playground at recess with Aiden and Karsynn.

They even enjoyed sliding. I know Jacob liked us being with him and Jared thought it was the coolest thing to play with his bubba at school.

Jared went to his best buddy Gill's birthday party at the simmon center. It was a little chilly but they had a blast playing together!!

Jared carving his pumpkin....

Jacob carving away...

We made some pumpkin seeds for the boys to try and neither of them liked them too much.

Jared's pumpkin is the witch and Jacob's is the cat.

Jacob received his Bobcat badge....

One night they went to Red bud park and seen the old Catholic Church now the Red bud Chapel and then also talked about the veteran monument at the park.

The boy scouts participating in the raising of the flag at the annual fire and police safety fair at Red Bud Park.

Afterwards we all walked around and looked at the different booths and the kids had their faces painted.

Jacob even got to walk this little guy around....

Before Kenny started his new position as a Supervisor Accountant in Angola Africa his group in Duncan had a going away party for him. They had a special t-shirt for him......that he "Loved". Here is a few pictures of him being surprised with the shirt and a few pictures of his group.

Boy Scouts

2010-10-20T22:02:00.001-05:00

Jacob joined Boy Scouts this year and he is loving it. He is a Tiger Cub this year. He sold popcorn at Walgreen's as his first fundraiser and he had a lot of fun. A few weekends after the popcorn sale he competed in his first cub scout derby. He did not place but he had a lot of fun.

Here is Jacob and his friend Ryan.

At one of their first meetings they played soccer. Here is a picture of Jacob and Jared playing soccer.

I made it!!

2010-10-01T10:44:00.001-05:00

I finally made it. I hijacked JoAnn's blog so I can post from Africa. I have attached some pics of my room and some views outside my window. Needless to say...you are not in Kansas anymore Toto!! You know you are not in the good ole USA when most of the "Plays of the Week" on Sportscenter(ESPN) are Soccer...more later.

Kenny

2010-09-30T21:58:00.000-05:00

Kenny should be close to being in Africa. I think his plane lands about 10 or 10:30 pm our time, which will be about 4am their time. When we talked to him this morning when he got to Germany he looked very tired. He said he will be upgrading his seat to first class on the way back so he can get some sleep. I need to get my blog caught up so I can post what me and the boys do everyday so Kenny can see what is going on here. He will also be posting on here a little as well so we can see what it is like in Africa.
Today Jacob was good at school and made a 100 on his AR
test. Jared and I went and visited Kenny's grandparents and then worked at the sign shop. After we picked Jacob up from school I mowed while the boys played outside.

Update

2010-09-27T10:02:00.000-05:00

I know I am way behind.... Months actually and I will get caught up soon. For now an update. We got moved house still not sold. Jacob in Marlow schools. I quit work at the end if August and staying home with Jared and helping my parents out with the sign shop.

Kenny leaves for Africa on Wednesday at 6pm

Jacob first day of first grade in Marlow

2010-08-20T22:02:00.000-05:00

We moved Jacob to Marlow this year and we could not be happier. He is really liking it and and he learning so so much. He is in Mrs. Keck's class and he is doing really well. He is reading a book a day for AR and is doing great on his AR test getting at least 2 pts a week and is only required 1 point a week. He had straight A's on his first nine weeks report card and we gave him $25 for straight A's. He loves music class and he has Mr. Tate which is the same music teacher I had when I was in grade school at Marlow. He still gives out skittles in class. Jacob plays with Aiden Finley at recess and he goes to church with us and is in Jacob's class.

Jacob's teacher said he is doing great in school and on his work but he seems to finish his work early and then he wants to talk to his neighbors instead of letting them finish their work. We are working on it though and he is doing much better. I am so proud of him and how smart he is. He loves school and he is reading so good.

He is participating in Little Dribblers for the first time this year and he is loving it. I will have pictures soon on it after his first performance.

Here he is on his first day of school. He was letting his hair grow out this summer but not too long after school started he decided to cut it all off.

STRESS

2010-07-20T09:48:00.000-05:00

Have I mentioned we are trying to sell our house. This is the first time we are selling a house on our own. Usually, the company my husband works for moves us and sells the house for us. We decided to sell and rent and build a house. We have had the house up for 3 months now and we have got 2 offers and both fell through. I am so tired of getting my hopes up only to be let down again. We really need to get moved before school starts so I can make sure Jacob gets in Marlow schools. I don't want to have to move him mid-year. We had put in a transfer at the end of last year but we will not know anything until a week before school starts. It is hard at times to put all your trust into the Lord and just let go and know that he will take care of you. Things happen and I say this is the work of God for sure because everything is just falling into place perfectly and then something happens and I question myself, "Maybe we are not supposed to move, maybe we are not supposed to move Jacob to a new school, maybe maybe maybe." I know I just need to keep putting everything in God's hands and trust that the house and everything will happen with time...not my time...but his time. But sometimes that is a hard thing to do.

Change

2010-07-15T09:30:00.000-05:00

I have seen a huge change in my 6 year old son in the last two weeks. One who normally woke up a little grouchy(like his momma) is now waking up saying, "Yes sir". He has always been a sweet heart and loving but he was always on the go and busy....but over the last two weeks he has slowed down. Last Sunday at Mema and Peepaw's when everyone said, "Jacob get your shoes on and go outside with us" he said, "No thanks I am going to stay inside and help Mema and momma clean off the table." He has always been a helper but would have been outside in 2 seconds. Everyone has seen the change in him and has commented on what a great helper he is. The brotherly love of arguing is no longer in the house.....and I am loving that.
:-) Kenny asked me this morning what had happened to this kid. We know he has always had it in him.....but he is growing out of the fits and growing up. He will be in first grade next year and he is getting so big. We love you so much Jacob and we are so proud of everything you do. We love the boy you are growing up to be and know that you will go so far in life. You are very driven and love to succeed. You are very good at sports and love to be active and outgoing. You are a great helper and you love to help the smaller kids like your brother and cousins Julia and Emma. You look up to your older cousins Maddie and Caleb so much. You can see the love you have for them in your eyes. Love you lots!!

Happy Anniversary

2010-07-08T10:04:00.001-05:00

Happy 38th Anniversary to my wonderful parents!! We love you so much and are glad to have such great parents and examples in our lives! Thank you for showing us what love is and for all your help and advice over the years! Love you lots!!!!

Who gets more loven's

2010-07-07T10:06:00.000-05:00

Kenny is out of town this week and the other night Jared was asking me when he was coming home and I told him in two days. I asked him if he missed him and he said, "Yes, and when he gets home I am going to give him 10 loven's." I said, "what about me" and he said, "I will give you 10 when daddy is gone and give daddy 10 when he is here."

He is definitely the lover boy for sure! I guess I can settle for letting daddy have the loven's when he gets home. :-)

Get your Goat!!

2010-07-06T09:44:00.000-05:00

This morning I told Jared I was going to get his goat and he said no he was going to get my goat and then he said, "Do you have a goat anyway, where is your goat?" Silly boy. I told him no I don't have one I just meant I was going to get you and he said, "Oh, ok I will get you too."

4th of July weekend 2010

2010-07-06T09:41:00.000-05:00

Friday night we were going to let the boys do their fireworks with Emma and Josh and go swimming. The rain changed our plans though. Saturday morning when the boys woke up and it wasn't raining they were ready to shoot their fireworks....so Kenny let them shoot half of their fireworks. Then we got ready and headed to the parade in Marlow. We got sprinkled on a little when the parade first started but then it cleared off and the sun came out and it was really nice. After the parade we went down to the park and let the boys play on some of the blow up's that the First Baptist Church had. They ended up canceling the fireworks on Saturday night because it rained again and the park was already very muddy. They are supposed to be this coming Saturday night if it doesn't rain again. Saturday night Jacob ended up with a stomach virus and so me and him stayed home from church on Sunday morning. We cleaned the house on Sunday and then Sunday evening we went to Kenny's grandparents house for hot dogs and homemade ice cream. It rained pretty good when we first got there but ended up clearing off so the boys could do the rest of their fireworks. They were so excited to show Mema and Pepa their fireworks. Monday Kenny let me sleep in and then he headed to work and then to Pampa for the week. I showed the house yesterday and the boys got to swim for awhile and then we went and had Chicken Express with Nana and Papa. The boys were so tired when we got home from dinner that they got ready for bed at 6pm and wanted to watch TV in their beds. Jared was asleep by 6:30 and Jacob lasted till about 8pm. The weekend was fun but short. The boys had a lot of fun and I love to see the excitement in their eyes!!

What's been going on?

2010-06-29T09:44:00.000-05:00

I guess it has been two weekends ago now that we went to Lake Texoma for Kenny's grandmother's family reunion. We left Friday afternoon and came back on Sunday. The boys went tubing for the first time and that was a lot of fun. On our way home Sunday I started feeling sick and by the time we got home I was running fever. Monday and Tuesday I stayed home from work with fever and stomach problems. Thank goodness none of the boys have got it yet.

Last week Kenny was off all week studying for his CMA certification. He took the 4 hour test yesterday and will find out if he passed in about 6 weeks. If he did pass then in about 4-5 months he will take the second part of the test. Good luck Kenny! I know you can do it.

Last Thursday was the beginning of the end of the season T-Ball tournament. We lost on Thursday night and Friday night the team we were supposed to play forfeited. Saturday we played at 10am and we won so we played again at 12. It was very very very very HOT! The kids did really good and we were playing a team that was undefeated in the regular season. It was a very close game but the referee made some very bad calls...including calling the game with more than 5 mins left when we still had a chance to win. About 2pm when we were home in the AC and could have been back at the field to play another game I was kind of glad it was over. The kids were HOT and wore smooth out.

This week we really don't have any big plans. We are going to have our t-ball party on Thursday possibly and then enjoy a long 4th of July weekend.

America's Got Talent

2010-06-17T09:20:00.000-05:00

Last night Kenny, the boys and I were watching America's Got Talent and they were introducing a person and they said he was from New Jersey and Jared said "Why is that guy from New Jerk?"

Summer Camp

2010-06-16T16:27:00.000-05:00

Today at summer camp during fishing Jacob fell in the pond up to his chest. He says he tripped and fell in. He scratched his face pretty bad but other than that I think it scared him more than anything. Thank goodness for swimming lessons last week. A friend of mine is over the camp and she felt really bad about the situation and handled it with the teachers. Jacob finished his toolbox yesterday and he did a really good job on it....and he started building a stool today.

Rangers vs Cardinals

2010-06-16T08:59:00.000-05:00

It was a close game last night. The Cardinals were behind and pull ahead by one in the last inning. We batted last and needed 2 runs to win by one. Our first batter hit the ball in the air and their pitcher caught it in the air. WOW! Our second runner got out on first. We had no runs and 2 outs. We ended up getting 3 runs and so we won 15-12. This was our last regular season game. The kids did really well and enjoyed the last game. Next week we start our tournament on Thursday. It will be a long weekend full of t-ball games. Hopefully, I will remember to bring my camera and get some pictures. We are in 3rd place going into the tournament. Jacob didn't get a home run last night....every time he hit it....it went to the first baseman and he stopped the ball with his body. Jacob felt bad that he kept hitting the kid with the ball when he hit it.

Summer Camp

2010-06-15T14:03:00.000-05:00

Jacob started summer camp yesterday at Marlow. He goes from 8-12 for two weeks. This week he is taking twilight sports, science experiments, carpentry and fishing. He said he played football in sports, made a balloon blow up with backing soda and vinegar in Science and is making a tool box in Carpentry. During fishing they go to a near by pond and fish the whole time. He said they are really having a lot of fun.

6 Flags and New Teeth

2010-06-15T13:54:00.000-05:00

Friday after work we headed to Coppell, TX to stay the night with Kenny's aunt in her new house. The boys were so excited to stay at her new house and swim in her pool. Saturday we got up and went to 6 Flags. It wasn't too hot in the morning and we got there early so we were able to ride every ride we wanted without much of a wait. The boys had a lot of fun and Jared was able to ride some of the bigger rides with us and he thought that was so cool. He loved the water rides the best.

Friday night Jacob asked me to look at his teeth because he had something in them at the back on the top. When I looked I noticed he was getting his 6 yr molars. The one on the top right is coming in first and the top left one looks like it will be coming in soon.

Rangers vs Central 2

2010-06-15T13:40:00.000-05:00

We played another Central team last Thursday and we won 17-14. Jacob hit one home run a single and a double and one time he hit a pop up and the pitcher caught it in the air. Our first baseman actually caught the ball a couple times and our short stop ended up catching a pop fly also. They were so excited and really enjoy playing the game this year.

Can you tell time?

2010-06-10T10:24:00.000-05:00

This morning on the way to work around 7:02am Jared said he would tell us what time it was. So i asked him what time it was by his watch and he said 3 7 20. That is the best time telling I know. :-)

Rangers vs. Bray

2010-06-09T14:14:00.000-05:00

We ended up playing 4 1/2 innings...we chose not to bat our last time. The kids were tired and it was already after 8pm. Jacob made 1 home run, 1 triple and 1 single. The final score was Rangers 20, Bray 9. Another game on Thursday and we will be done this week.

GO RANGERS!!!
