Social media - how far will people go to be 'famous'?

When i was a kid we didn't have the internet. I use to play outside, could come home when I wanted without my parents worrying about me and photos that were taken were put in the family photo album. These days kids have iPhones, iPads, laptops, blackberrys, xbox's, playstations, wii. The list goes on. The worst thing about it is the amount of access young kids have to social media sites like Facebook. Recently I have seen a few disturbing posts that have seriously inappropriate content. The problem is young people wanting to be 'famous' and will do anything to get there. And I mean anything! Giovanna Plowman ate her own bloody tampon. Who does that?! And what did Alyssa Rosales do? HER DOG!! This is what passes as Internet entertainment these days! I have not seen either video nor do I have any urge to for the simple fact I think it's morally wrong. I bet their parents are so proud of them!!! They may have reached 'fame' but at what cost to themselves?

The X Factor - Talent show or freak show?

The show first aired in September 2006. The aim was to let every day people get a chance to showcase their singing talent. The only problem being... How many winners do you remember? If i'm honest the only winner i really remember is Leona Lewis. There have been nine seasons and i can only remember one winner! Doesn't exactly say much does it? The more memorable people tend to be the auditionees that flip out during their auditions. Such examples as Ariel Burdett who scared Cheryl Cole and Zoe Alexander who ended up calling all the judges 'c**ts' because she screwed up. And who could forget Britney impersonator Lorna Bliss? Fame hungry 33 year old appeared on stage wearing a lime green thong and bra and was slightly covered by a full body stocking. She then went on to 'sing' (and i use the term loosely!) a Britney Spears song while crawling down the stage steps, straddling Louis Walsh and chasing Gary Barlow. It was the epitome of what has happened to the show. When it first started you had a few of the strange ones that thought they could sing but that very quickly made way for the actual competition. But these days its more about the shock and entertainment factor than actual talent! The most recent example of this would be Rylan. A man with very little talent but got as far as he did by playing up for the cameras. Are bitch fits really what pass as entertainment these days? Its a shame that there are alot of people with actual talent that aren't getting through because they aren't entertaining enough. I really think that music executives really need to step back and take a long hard look at where they get their talent from.

A taste of things to come!

I thought it would be a good idea to list a few of my upcoming reviews. Not only would it give you a sneak peek of what is coming up but it would make sure i know what i'm supposed to be doing! Keeps me on track ;) I'll be writing up music, clothes, make up and other forms of entertainment. Enjoy :)

- Bravissimo - The company specifically for underwear for the larger lady. But is it good value for money?

- New Look - I'll be looking at New Look's 'Inspire' range to see if it can compete with the companies that specialise in plus size clothing. I'll also be looking at their footwear range. But thats just for fun :)

- Max Factor - I'll be looking into Max Factor's range of foundation to discover if you can really match your skin tone. Or is it just a myth?

- Josh Groban - The man behind THAT voice!

- Christina Aguilera - Shes had some bad reviews recently but did she really deserve them?

- Reality TV - Does it really make stars or just give people their 15 minutes of fame?

- The X Factor - Talent show or freak show? Time to discuss!!

My first post :)

So i have taken the plunge and set up a fashion world account. I was wary at first as i had a view of it not being for someone my age but once i had seen the selection i was put more at ease. I was given a credit limit for my first order that i must admit i used straight away. But some of the clothes i got were definitely worth it. My first rating on clothes is this Tomato red Cape button blouse by Simply Be. It is currently on sale for between £15.50 and £17.50 depending on which size you get. Now i had to get a size 22 to accommodate my rather ample chest which i am glad i did. I tried it on as soon as it arrived and discovered that it was rather fitted. Had i gotten a smaller size then i would not have been able to do the buttons up over my chest. That said it is a very flattering shape with the batwings hiding any extra poundage on the arms and the tie around the waist is fantastic. It would give the illusion of a waist on anyone. Even the mitchellin man! All in all this is a lovely top and its available in tomato red and chocolate (which i ill most probably buy at a later date). The only downside i have found is the fact that you are charged more for a bigger size which i have never liked. It makes me personally feel like i'm being penalised for being overweight. But unfortunately its a trend that is becoming more and more common. Is there no respite for the larger lady?
