I did not find a good film on that topic alone. But this film reviews all the democracies that were toppled by the U.S. government. Chile begins at minute 47. You can follow this with the Shock Doctrine, and the story of how the "Chicago Boys" showed up with "the Brick" to install free market reforms with Chile's new fascist government. It make me think that if Obama was to really fight for serious reform, the same kind of coup could happen here. 90 min. We are now at risk of losing all of it, as the ruling elite prepare to take it all back. The most radical and dedicated labor union was the Industrial Workers of the World, Know as the Wobblies. They believed in one big union that would unite against the exploitation of capital. The surviving and still-fiery Wobblies -now in their 70s, 80s, and 90s, tell the story of workers who took the ideals of equality and free speech seriously enough to die for. 90 min. By ignoring the chain of command, we repeat the "bad apples" defense of the Bush regime. We know that torture does not provide accurate intelligence. But torture is VERY effective at generating false confessions to justify political and military actions. It is also effective at terrorizing political opposition. These are the only reasons for torture. It is one of the worst crimes against humanity and our government is clearly guilty. If we fail to prosecute and punish those responsible, these policies will become standardized. At some point you may find yourself in an American Abu Gharib.
This film presents all the evidence needed to prosecute the entire Bush administration. If Obama blocks prosecution, the crimes will continue. 78 min. The message was clear to the political class: "Do not mess with the war machine or the social order, or you will be terminated".
This film is a good review of the holes in the official story. This is the only film record I know of that compiled first person accounts of women who had to deal with unwanted pregnancy in the era when abortion was a criminal act. It also includes doctors and others who risked prison to provide safe abortions. These experiences are difficult to imagine (and difficult to listen to) for many people today, but the tragic physical, legal, and emotional consequences must not be forgotten. Criminalizing abortion does not stop it, but only turns it into a hidden, desperate and often fatal nightmare. 28 min. But 350 is more than a number--it's a symbol of where we need to head as a planet. To tackle climate change we must act quickly, and in unison— 2009 will be an absolutely crucial year. This December, world leaders will meet in Copenhagen, Denmark to craft a new global treaty on cutting emissions. The problem is, the treaty currently on the table doesn't pass the 350 test.
In order to unite the public, media, and our political leaders behind the 350 goal, we're harnessing the power of the internet to coordinate a planetary day of action on October 24, 2009. We hope to have actions at hundreds of iconic places around the world - from the Taj Mahal to the Great Barrier Reef to your community - and clear message to world leaders. If an international grassroots movement holds our leaders accountable to the latest climate science, we can start the global transformation we so desperately need. 84 min. If waste would become food for the biosphere or the technosphere (all the technical products we make), production and consumption could become beneficial for the planet. A design and production concept that they call Cradle to Cradle. A concept that is seen as the next industrial revolution. • Design every product in such a way that at the end of its lifecycle the component materials become a new resource. • Design buildings in such a way that they produce energy and become a friend to the environment. Large companies like Ford and Nike are working with McDonough and Braungart to change their production facilities and their products. They realize that economically seen waste is destruction of capital. You make something with no value.
