Congratulations to the Winners of our first Public Collaboration. You spoke and we listened. Here is the first page of the storyline #5 you guys voted for most. Credits went to those who voted. What do the characters see when they look up?

Do they see:

An alien spacecraft with an army of Elites' kind coming down dragging Super J with them.
A UFO driven by Balance's Arch Nemesis. Super J being pummeled to the ground by his evil clone.
A high tech blimp with cloaking technology advertising for a Dougie Fresh concert and using Super J as an opening act.
A big disc-like object projecting a batman-like symbol under it calling out for that superhero.
The Rooster, an almost crazy super vigilante intent on cleansing the neighborhood of evil doers with his technology.

Balance

Here is Lorenzo working on his version of his character Balance. He had a loose sketch which he then traced to clean it up using my lightbox.
Didn't take long, but here is the progress of his sketches. After the sketch, I helped him throw some color to bring the character to life. Here are the steps I used to give his character some Color:

Here some quick steps of how I color an illustration using Photoshop:

Scan the pencil drawing at 300dpi.

Clean up the image in photoshop by adjusting the brightness and contrast until the pencil image is nice and crisp without any distracting lines.

Duplicate the layer.

Change that layer to multiply.

Add a new layer called "Color" under the previous scan layer.

Start coloring away using any kind of brushes you'd like.

For shadows, I generally add another layer and call that "Shadows". Again you can name it whatever you feel like. I change the opacity of this layer to about 20% and color my shadows in using a black brush. You can adjust the opacity of this layer to deepen your shadows.

When you are finished, you will have a clean colored piece.
