Tomoe

Tomoe is a fox youkai who was also a familiar to the previous Land God, Mikage. After being abandoned alone at the Mikage Shrine by the Land God himself, for almost twenty years, he was furious to find out that there is a powerless human female that now serves as the new Land God. He refuses to her familiar, leaving her alone at the shrine and giving her some problems. As the story progresses, he started to open up to Nanami and eventually falls deeply in love with her.

As a Fox youkai, he is considerably handsome and quite popular to women. He was always seen in a traditional clothing. He appears to be in his late teenage years in spite the fact that he is already several hundred years old.

Nanami Momozono

Nanami is the heroine of the series Kamisama Hajimemashita. She is also known as the successor of Mikage, the Land God. She is also a descendant of Yukiji, Tomoe's previous lover. She has an innocent, hopeful and kind personality which attracts attention from supernatural deities/person she has met. According to Nanami's mother, for several generations, the women in their family has bad luck with choosing husbands and can only produce a single healthy daughter. This belief seemed to end with her mother because, at the end of the series, Nanami married Tomoe (who turned into a human) and has a son with him.

Their Relationship

At the beginning of series, Tomoe and Nanami didn't have a good relationship to start with. Tomoe didn't like the idea of him serving another Land God aside from Mikage. As the story progresses, they eventually started to open up to each other. There were also instances that lead to jealousy whenever one of them catches the attention of the opposite sex. He has started to become overprotective of her and will go against Gods and go to hell for her sake. They also have different opinions about youkai and humans being seen together.

When Tomoe was still the partner of the infamous Demon King Akura-oh, he fell in love with a human woman and have made a promised to Kuromaru (a God) to give up all his youkai powers to be able to spend the rest of his life as a human and to be with the woman he dearly loved. He doesn't remember this when he met Nanami in the future.

When Nanami traveled back to the past, she met Tomoe and have forced to portray herself as Yukiji. This leads to confusion to the fox youkai as he has started to fall in love with her unknowingly and has seen the hatred to Yukiji's eyes whenever he tries to look after her. Without his memories, Tomoe still has fallen in love with Nanami the second time around.

At the end of the series, Nanami returned her status as the Land God to Mikage and was seen with Tomoe (finally becomes a human) with their young son in her arms.

Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia

Natsu Dragneel

Natsu Dragneel is a Fairy Tail Guild member and the younger brother of the dark mage Zeref Dragneel. He is one of the five dragon slayers that were sent to the future to defeat Acnologia. He is also known as the Salamander. Natsu suffers from motion sickness and although he is known with a carefree and happy go lucky attitude, he deeply cares for his friends and shows compassion to others even if they are enemies.

Lucy Heartfilia

Lucy Heartfilia is the only child of the wealthy Heartfilia Family. Following the death of her mother, Lucy left home and started her journey to become a novelist and a Celestial Wizard. After meeting Natsu and Happy, Lucy joined the Fairy Tail guild, meeting new friends and fellow wizards. She is a capable wizard who helps her teammates during their missions.

Their Relationship

Natsu and Lucy are considered very close as they spent most of their time and missions with each other with Happy accompanying the two of them. Their bond started when Natsu meet her at the town of Hargeon and invited Lucy to join their guild. While she is bothered by Natsu’s reckless and childish acts, Lucy shows tolerance and deep understanding with Natsu. Natsu also drops by her home and invading her privacy together with Happy, sometimes even falling asleep in her place while waiting for her to come home.

Natsu believes in Lucy’s capabilities even if sometimes she doubts herself. He always helps Lucy whenever when she is in trouble. Because of their unusual closeness, some of their guildmates and enemies perceived them as a couple which Lucy frequently denies when pointed out.

A year after the war against the Alvarez Empire, Lucy finally fulfilled her dream to become a famous novelist. After the celebration, Lucy found Natsu and Happy invading her home once again telling her that they have received the mission for one hundred year quest and must start immediately. Feeling a bit dejected by Natsu’s eagerness, Lucy was caught off guard when Natsu declares that they will be together forever.

Trivia

Natsu collects items to serve as memorabilia on every mission and quest he did together with Happy and Lucy. On one occasion, it was shown that he had kept the maid outfit that Lucy used on one of their quests.
Mirajane always teases Lucy and mentioned that they always get along and understand each other well. She also keeps a duplicate key of Lucy’s home which she often lends to Natsu.
Zeref implies that Lucy has a deep-rooted influence on Natsu’s feelings.
Happy always implies that the two of them really like each other.
On most story arcs, Natsu always shows concern at Lucy often saving her and getting angry whenever she cries or in danger.
Hiro Mashima drew Natsu and Lucy’s daughter during the New York City Comic Con in 2017 when a fan requested what will the child looks like if they have a child. The daughter was relatively known as “Nashi” or “Luna” on Fairy Tail fandom.

Zeref Dragneel and Mavis Vermilion

Zeref Dragneel

Zeref Dragneel commonly known as "The Black Mage" and considered as the strongest and most evil wizard within the Fairy Tail Universe. Being a genius wizard, he was able to master the black arts and create demons which led to several misfortunes and havoc around the world. He has a detached personality, hating himself for not being able to control his powers at will.

Zeref is the older brother of Natsu Dragneel and he fathered a son to Mavis. He also has founded and served as the emperor of Alvarez Empire. Four hundred years ago, Zeref was cursed by Ankhseram with the Curse of Contradiction when he attempts to revive his brother Natsu by twisting the balance between life and death. This curse was also been suffered by Mavis Vermilion later. The curse made them immortal and unconsciously made them kill all living ones they encountered. To lessen the symptoms and effect, the cursed one should forget the value of one's life.

Mavis Vermilion

Mavis Vermilion was the first Guild Master of Fairy Tail Guild. She was also known as the Fairy Tactician due to her exceptional strategies on the battleground. She has a cheerful and almost childish personality and very protective of her guild members. Mavis also has a playful and reckless side. She is also always seen barefooted throughout the series.

After performing an incomplete version of Law to save the life her friend Yuri Dreyar, she was cursed with the same Curse of Contradiction Zeref has.

Their Relationship

Around X686, years before Mavis founded the Fairy Tail Guild, she first met Zeref while contemplating on her next actions stumbled upon him bathing at a pond. He quickly dressed intent on leaving her alone so she wouldn't suffer the effects of his curse. Surprisingly, she deducted the nature of his 'magic' and guessed that it was a curse cast upon him. She was able to ease his loneliness by summoning an illusion of different kinds of animals. After these, Zeref agreed on teaching her and friends magic.

Ten years later, they met again. Mavis was so happy and excited to meet him and had leaped up to hug him much to his surprise. During this meeting, Zeref revealed himself as the infamous Black Wizard Zeref which at first she didn't believe. After learning that she had performed an incomplete version of Law, he informed her that she was cursed with the Curse of Contradiction like him hence she is immortal and will not age. Devastated to this revelation, she runs away from him. As he was left behind, Zeref comments on how Mavis has the power to be able to walk beside him.

A year later, Zeref found her again secluded in a forest, trying to kill herself by starvation. He told her that there is no way that could able to kill them while under the curse. Desperate to be free from the curse, Mavis asked him to kill her but he couldn't. As Mavis saw how Zeref contradict himself while talking about starting a war with her, she felt she could relate to his suffering. She hugged him tight and told him they will be together forever.

Moved by Mavis' words, he told her how he never had to love anyone before. The two shared a kiss which instantly killed Mavis as the effects of their shared curse took her life away. The love between the two mages was the highest contradiction on both parties that it took the life of an immortal one. Zeref was so broken by this, he cried over her dead body.

Afterwards, he brought her lifeless body to Percht and swore he will never love anyone again. Percht sensed some magic still lingering in her heart, encase her body within a giant lacrima. He hides her body in the basement of the guild and took several experiments in the hope he will be able to revive her.

Around this time (August of the year X697 as Zeref stated), Mavis conceived a son with Zeref as the father which later named August by Zeref himself.

When the Grand Magic Games comes to end, they met once again although Zeref couldn't see her physically. They declared war between each other deciding to forget their romantic feelings to achieve their goal. Despite their claims that they didn't love each other anymore, their actions say otherwise. Zeref felt sadness when he watched Mavis in great pain while Irene extracted the Fairy Heart from her body and when Mavis, after learning that he intended to erase the timeline they're on, begged him not to erase the time when she met him.

After Zeref being defeated by his brother Natsu, Mavis says she still loves him despite everything he had done and hopes they could be with each other forever. She claimed that if only she had believed his love for her before, she could've ended his suffering. Zeref then realizes that to end his life and suffering, he has to accept Mavis' love for him because love is the greatest contradiction to their curses. They confessed their love for each other and shared a kiss. He told her how happy she made him and tells her to live on without him. He started to disappear but notices that she also starts to fade away with him realizing that his love for her killing her for the second time. They both died in each other's arms finally ending the eternity of sadness together.

On the last chapter of the series, it was later revealed that they have been reincarnated giving them a second chance to be together. Zeref as Arleos who is an amateur writer looking up to Lucy's works and Mavis as Mio which currently works at a small publishing company.

Leon Oswald and Sora Naegino

Leon Oswald

Leon Oswald is one of the new artists to join Kaleido Stage in the second season of the series. At first, Leon is just as cold and mean as Layla was before she met Sora, but he is far more aloof than Layla. Later on, he acknowledges Sora's skills and will and become more gentle to her person.

He is an incredible trapeze performer but because of his past performances and dropping of so many partners leading to end their careers, Leon has earned the nickname of "The Grim Reaper". He is also known as "Pegasus of the Stage" which he earned while being the partner to his sister, Sophie Oswald.

Sora Naegino

Sora Naegino is the heroine of the series Kaleido Star. Originally came from Japan, her dream is to become a true Kaleido Star. She decided to pursue her dreams in America by joining the Kaleido Stage, a circus company located in Cape Mary, California. When she was very young, she saw their production of Alice In Wonderland, which leads to her dream. When both of her parents passed away, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle who at that time were childless. Before going to America, she trained herself well hoping that she will join Kaleido Stage as a member. Sora believes in a conflict-free stage and loves the stage and their audience.

Their Relationship

Leon was called by Kallos to join the Kaleido Stage after Layla Hamilton's unexpected retirement because of her serious injury while she and Sora performed the Legendary Great Maneuver. Kallos hoped that by having Leon on the stage will make him Sora's next partner. In spite of his infamous reputation in the circus world, he accepted Kallos' offer to expect that he would be able to find his next partner between the two stars of the Kaleido Stage. Much to his disappointment, the more experienced one was the one who retired leaving an amateur star, Sora to continue on stage. Feeling that he was deceived, he lashed out and intentionally insulted Layla's reputation much to Sora's chagrin.

He refused to accept Sora as his stage partner and have continuously disapproved her performances. At their first stage performance together, he left the stage forcing Sora to play both his and her roles. After the Saiyuki performance, Sora was forced to compete against May Wong to become Leon's next partner.

When Leon injured May's arm, Sora thought that she will now have a chance to participate with Leon on the upcoming Circus Festival. But May managed to overcome her injury and became Leon's partner. Surprisingly, Sora together with Yuri Killian also goes to Circus Festival to perform the Angel's Maneuver against Leon and May's Demon Spiral. But while performing at the festival, Sora was so broken-hearted by learning the treachery within the circus world just to be on top. She purposely forfeited on the competition letting Leon and May take the victory.

Feeling defeated and a failure, Sora decided to quit and left Kaleido Stage giving May a chance to become the lead star. She went back to Japan to be with her foster family. While in there, Sora realizes that she wants to become a Kaleido Star without competing and fighting other performers. She hopes she can create a conflict-free stage where the performers and audience will be one at heart.

Coming back at Kaleido Stage with a new hope and path she wanted to take, Sora got Leon's attention. He finally acknowledges Sora's capability and believes she has what it takes to become his true partner. Leon had hoped she will take a chance to stand up against May's challenge since the latter felt she wasn't truly become Leon's partner because of Sora. He later confronted Sora to become his partner and almost gone mad when Sora runs into traffic and he run after her. They both stumbled on the ground and he unknowingly called Sora as "Sophie".

When she once again declined the challenge and chose to work as a backstage staff, Leon took an initiative to take Sora on the stage letting her feelings of being on the stage and audience's happiness. At one instance, she thought she will fall after missing a chance to grab the trapeze she was about to reach when Leon reached out for her hand and gracefully threw her upwards making one of the scenes for the Angel's Maneuver. This strengthens Leon's belief that Sora's the one. After leaving Leon on the stage resulting to his unexpected injury, Sora felt a bit guilty for him. She then realizes that Leon is not as cold as he seems to be.

Kaleido Stage decided to take the Swan Lake in which Leon and Sora will take the lead roles and will perform the Angel's Maneuver. Leon took the lead and train Sora hard to be able to perform the act. As the training continues leaving Sora's feet severely injured, Leon decided that they had enough. Seeing her injuring herself further, he believes that the audience will not notice but Sora insisted that she will not deceive them and continued training by herself.

Seeing Sora's determination and will, Leon continued to train her hard and finally completed their training. Together, they both defeated Yuri and Layla to be able to secure their roles for the upcoming production. At this moment, Leon and Sora finally understand each other and in good terms as partners. Doing the Swan Lake together, Leon has fulfilled his promise to his dead sister and realizes what she truly means about a conflict-free stage. With Sora as his partner, they finally completed the Angel's Maneuver.

Later on the OVA episodes, Leon was seen in a brighter mood than the first time he came on the Kaleido Stage even becoming more gentle on Sora as seen on their performance for the Legend of the Phoenix.

Kaleido Star: Wings of the Future

Kaleido Star: Wings of the Future is the manga continuation of Kaleido Star. The story now focuses on Sora's younger sister, 16 years old Yume Naegino as she joined the Kaleido Stage in hope that she will be able to find her lost angel.

Apparently, Sora has not come home in Japan for a long time and Yume wondered where her sister is. There are hints that their father knows more about Sora's absence by stating on the earliest chapter that not all children are angels, especially men since one of them have taken one of his angels. This after saying Sora and Yume are his angels.

Rumours within the fan community suggest that at the time of Wings of the Future, Leon and Sora got married and have daughters named Sophie and Angelique. These rumors were never been proved as the series has been discontinued after six chapters.

Syaoran Li and Sakura Kinomoto

Syaoran Li

Syaoran Li (Ri Shaoran) is a character from CLAMP's series Cardcaptor Sakura. At the beginning of the series, Syaoran appears as an antagonist. As one of the descendants of Clow Reed, he believes he should be the one to inherit the magical Clow cards rather than Sakura. He often criticizes her for her flaws but as the story progresses, he becomes Sakura's reliable ally and friend despite their differences.

Sakura Kinomoto

Sakura Kinomoto (Kinomoto Sakura) is the heroine and main protagonist of CLAMP's anime and manga series Cardcaptor Sakura. After accidentally releasing the Clow Cards, she started her journey to collect them all.

Their Relationship

Syaoran and Sakura are one of the most notable relationships in Cardcaptor Sakura series. The significant development between the two is when Syaoran started to develop his feeling and changing opinions towards Sakura on the second season of the series. At the start of the series, he immediately considers Sakura a rival and believes she is unworthy of bearing the responsibility of the Clow Cards.

The turning point of their relationship occurs in manga version was when the Earthy reveals itself where Sakura falls into a deep crevice. Desperate to save her, Syaoran calls out after her using her first name. After being rescued by Kero, Sakura returns to him by asking permission to call him "Syaoran-kun". This is almost the anime where Tomoyo, Syaoran, Eriol, Sakura visited a teddy bear museum. A scene in an elevator, Syaoran screams out Sakura's name here when she falls into a hole. Sakura later gets herself to safety by changing the Float Card and then tells him she heard him and asks if she is allowed to call him by his given name.

When Sakura confesses to Yukito and got rejected, Syaoran is ready to comfort her afterward. Later on, Syaoran finally manages to confess his growing feelings to Sakura after their final battle against Eriol Hiragizawa. She was in completed shock after learning about it and got pre-occupied with these thoughts for several days. With the help of her friends, she realizes that she may love Syaoran more than as a friend. Finally, Sakura realizes her true feelings and decides to confess to him before he leaves.

Difference between Manga and Anime

The manga ended their relationship differently from its anime series, as there is no movie for which to create a cliffhanger. Instead, in the anime, Syaoran finally found a chance in Penguin Park to confess to Sakura. Sakura is left in a state of shock while Syaoran, finally relieved at revealing his feelings, tells her to be careful and then leaves.

After confiding to her friends, Sakura decided to make a bear for Syaoran. Yukito came and offered her some food up, telling her that her brother Touya made it for her since he's worried about her current state. Sakura finished the bear in the morning and received a phone call from Tomoyo telling her that Syaoran is leaving on that morning. She immediately left and with her brother's help made her in time. She runs after Syaoran handing him the bear with an answer to his previous confession. They both agree to name their teddy bears after each other. Syaoran asked Sakura to wait for him and she told him that she will.

After two years have passed, Sakura now dressed in her new Tomoeda school uniform rushes on her way to school. Running across the familiar cherry trees lane, she suddenly stopped on her way as she sees someone.

Syaoran is right in front of her clad in his Tomoeda uniform, holding Sakura's Bear. He told her that he finally completed his obligations in Hong Kong and will stay from then on. With teary eyes, Sakura hugs him and says that from now on they will be together forever.

While in the anime, the continuation of the anime series comes in the second movie where Syaoran returns to Japan with his cousin. Tomoyo and Meiling tried helping Sakura to tell Syaoran about how she feels about him, which was always got interrupted.

At the end of the movie where she heartbrokenly confesses her love believing that Syaoran had forgotten his most important feeling. She begins to cry but was suddenly surprised when Syaoran returns her affection. She was so overjoyed that she recklessly leaps to be with Syaoran. The movie ended with Sakura halfway through the air as she makes the leap, right into Syaoran's arms.

Trivia

On Cardcaptor Sakura: Movie, Sakura met Yelan Li (Syaoran's mother). Before leaving the Li estate, Yelan gave Sakura a gentle kiss on her cheek getting Syaoran caught off guard. It was rumored that it is a custom in Hong Kong for a mother to give a kiss to a woman she thought a suitable candidate to become her son's future wife.

Ryoma Echizen and Sakuno Ryuzaki

Ryoma Echizen

Ryoma Echizen (越前リョーマ, Echizen Ryōma) is a fictional character and the protagonist of the manga and anime series The Prince of Tennis created by Takeshi Konomi. In the series, Ryoma is portrayed as a twelve-year-old tennis prodigy who won four consecutive Junior Tennis Tournaments in America. His father is Nanjiro Echizen, a former tennis pro nicknamed "Samurai Nanjiro". At his father's request, Ryoma returns to Japan in order to attend Seishun Academy ("Seigaku"), a private middle school famous for its tennis team. Due to his cocky attitude, he constantly butts heads with some of his upperclassmen as well as anger most of his opponents in tennis matches. Still, he, along with his team, evolve as tennis players in order to win the National Tennis Tournament.

Sakuno Ryuzaki

Sakuno Ryūzaki (竜崎桜乃, Ryūzaki Sakuno) is the granddaughter of Sumire Ryūzaki, the Seigaku tennis club coach, and is one of the first characters who have direct contact with Ryoma Echizen.

Between manga and anime version, she has more exposure on the anime series where she's regularly seen hanging out with the Seigaku team and occasionally help them with her best friend Osakada Tomoka. In the manga, she's seldom seen cheerleading for them.

When Ryoma lost his memories at one time, she went searching for him. She tried her best to teach Ryoma tennis from the scratch in an attempt to regain his memories. Ryoma, later on, recovered his memory and wants to face Yukimura of Rikkai.

Sakuno is a kind and shy girl with long hair that she kept in twin braids. She always seems to worry about Ryoma whenever he has a tennis match to play. Inspired by Ryoma, she started playing tennis. Her progress on playing differs in the anime from the manga. While in the manga she's good enough to be seen as a good player with a potential of becoming regular, her anime version's clumsy nature becomes part of recurring gag of the show.

Her personality though on both versions suggests that she's a shy type of person. One particular difference though is that the manga Sakuno is more insightful, mature and intuitive. Sakuno chose to mostly keep her thoughts to herself and responds only to what she had noticed on Ryoma's reaction.

She has a horrible sense of direction which leads to Ryoma taking the wrong destination.

Their Relationship

Sakuno's crush on Ryoma is clear, and due to her own shy nature, she hasn't told him. Although it's quite obvious to other people especially to some members of the Seigaku tennis club. On the other hand, Ryoma because of his dedication to tennis hasn't thought about the possible relationship with her. He does, however, shows concern for her well being and always ready to help her. He also has tried coaching in tennis even if his father tricked him to do so.

Pair Puri

Ryoma went back to Japan before the U-17 camp took place. Sakuno is waiting for him at the airport, but due to her lack of direction sense. She ended up at departing lobby instead. She was supposed to be arrival lounge. When she realized she 's lost, someone placed a hat on her head and says she's really bad at directions. It turned out to be Ryoma.Ryoma takes the cylinder case from Sakuno's hand. He opens it and finds a certificate of recognition saying that Sakuno won a third-place position in a tournament. Ryoma says that she has a lot of work on to do but congratulates her too.

Fun fact

Sakuno almost went near to a confession when Ryoma's lost his memories. Although, Ryoma halted it.
In the OVA episode 14 (chapter 306 in the manga), when Kintarou Tooyama befriends Sakuno, hints of jealousy were seen in Ryoma. "Let's go Ryuzaki" was his exact line telling Sakuno to go with him and leave Kintarou.
Ryoma's mother, Rinko has some resemblance to Sakuno and their personalities almost the same. In addition, Her (Rinko) and Najirou's love story is themed to be an arrogant lad falling for kind of a shy girl.
